You can't. At least not in the OS X version. MS does not produce an ActiveX for OS X.

There are many threads regarding usage of MS office with LV, but I was not able to find the answer to the following question. I hope somebody can help or point me to a useful thread.
I have an excel template file and would like to create new reports each time from it. There are a couple of solutions for this problem which are fine. But, at the end, I am going to build an application and install it on an industrial PC which does not have MS office installed. The question is if the application works on the target machine as well.
I am specifically pointing to the solution in here which uses ActiveX reference to Excel._Application. Any chance that this solution or any similar one works on my target PC?
If you wonder why I want excel reports on a machine that does not have MS Office, I should say that the reports are just stored somewhere on the disk to be transferred later to headquarters let say!
Developing machine: Win7, LV8.6 Pro + Report generation toolkit
Target machine: WinXP SP3, LV run-time engine

You need to have Office installed on the computer that is running the LabVIEW application. It is the Office applications that provide ActiveX functionality to the Report Generation Toolkit. Without them, LabVIEW has nothing to interface to.

Is there a way to open old Excel 2004 files in Excel 2011?

I recently bought a new MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion, and installed the latest version of Office 2011 for Mac. THEN I discovered that some of my older Excel workbooks, created on my ancient PowerBook G4 back in 2007, WON'T OPEN. I get a message saying that there is an error, and then Excel crashes. I really need to get access to this workbook on my new computer! It opens just fine in older versions of Excel, no corruption issues at all. It's just when I try to open it with my new laptop and Excel 2011. Does anybody out there have a workaround for me? I have loads of data in this spreadsheet and now no way to access it! Help!

Make sure Office 2011 is fully updated. It shouldn't have a problem opening those documents.
When I open a 97 - 2004 workbook, it states that it needs to be converted. That may be what is crashing on your copy of Office.
Have you tried creating a new account and see if you can open them there.

Opening a .pdf file from Excell 2011 hyperlink

I have a problem opening a .pdf file hyperlinked in Excel 2011 file.
The message is: "No program is registered to open this file".
If I go from explorer the file is regularly opened with Adobe Reader.

Delete the following item, then quit and relaunch Safari:

Excel 2011 version 14.4.8 running on an iMac gets "out of memory" messages.

HELP!!! Excel 2011 running on an iMac with OS 10.10.2 and 16GB Ram gets "out of memory" messages. When I monitor processes with "Activity Monitor", I am using less than half of my RAM. The Excel workbook has many sheets and also some macros. The basic workbook has been running for about two and half years starting in August 2012 without any problems until I upgraded to Yosemite in early December 2014. Now I often have to restore the entire file content because it gets corrupted after not being able to save the file because of the "out of memory" message. I can take a file and its content that ran fine a year ago and run it today and it will eventually get corrupted and get the "Out of memory" message after saving/quitting/re-opening the file any where from 6 to 15 to 25 times. I think I need to have more memory allocated to Excel, but Yosemite doesn't provide any way for the user to interact with the memory management process. I have also experienced the very same problem on my MacBook Pro that runs Yosemite. I have worked file/path name length issues, closely inspected the macros that normally don't run except when activated with a user pressed button, and made sure I don't have any weird links within the workbook or even links to another file outside the workbook. This problem seems to get worse as a continue to fill up the spread sheet with more financial data. This Excel workbook is used to manage my club's finances; I am the club treasurer. I have searched the internet for clues about similar problems and have found none!
My iMac is a 27-inch, Late 2009 with a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 Processor. It includes 16GB of 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM. The hard drive is a fussed 1TB rotating HD with 128 GB SSD. This hardware has been running for about 27 months. I am a very advanced Mac user that programs Excel and Filemaker and repairs Macs for others.

Given the caveat, have you tried reinstall of Office? Your MS Office 2011 may have become corrupted. After upgrading to Yosemite I had to reinstall my Office 2011. No crashes.
The current version of Office 2011 is 14.4.8.
First - find your Office 2011 install disc with the product key # - and only then remove Office according to MS instructions

Then enter your Product #
After successfully reinstalling Office 2011, update your Office product using the Software update within Office called Microsoft Update or going to the Help menu within Word or Excel or PowerPoint and select Update.
It may take a few times before you get to final upgrade to current Office version.
It should be 14.4.8 as of current date.

Can't open an Excel doc (w/ macros and VBA) in Excel 2011 for Mac. Anyone have any ideas (other than using a pc instead)?

When I try to open it in an Excel web app, or other online excel environment (whether using Firefox or Chrome) I get this message:

few other forums suggested an issue with adobe add-ins, but I don't show one in the Excel>Tools>Addins dialogue.

The same error message will result from a problem in any add-ins ,thus you should investigate other installed add-ins. It is worth the effort to try to start your excel program in safe mode. About how to use safe mode in Mac OS, Please refer to :http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892428
If this issue is gone in this situation, try to disable add-ins in excel.

Excel 2011 Will Not Link to MacMail in Mountian Lion From a Hyperlinked Cell

Unlike Excel 2004, my shiny new Excel 2011 will not link to MacMail in Mountian Lion from a hyperlinked cell email address entry. When I click on the button "Launch E-mail Application" I get the message, "An error occurred trying to find or launch your email program".
When I click on the cell with the link I get the message. "Office cannot open the URL you specified. Make sure you have a web browser installed and that it is configured correctly".
Does anyone have knowledge how to fix this up? Thanx. :-)

Does Lion interfere with Excel 2011 language support for Korean, Chinese?

I was able to use Excel 2011 for several languages including Korean and Chinese when I was on Snow Leopard.
Now, after upgrading to Lion, I can't figure out how to get that functionality.
I have used the Microsoft Language Register to get the Japanese character set to appear correctly. What do I need to do to get the other character sets to appear?

I'm copying data out of a multi language database and pasting into excel. On Snow Leopard I was able to paste Korean and Chinese characters into excel. Now, I get a box with a small in the place of Chinese/Korean characters.
I'm sure this is a matter of just not having a setting set properly, but I can't find it and I can't find anything online about it.

How to run Excel 2011 from applescript for batch

Every night at 2:00am, I want to convert an Excel spreadsheet to CSV. I'm doing this on a Mac, with Excel 2011. The following Applescript works sometimes:

With the above script saved in a file named convert.scpt, I can execute it from a bash script using the command "osascript convert.scpt". The bash script runs in a launchd job at 2:00am every day.
It works if Excel is already running on the Mac at the time the cron job runs. If not, it starts Excel, which insists on displaynig a "Excel Workbook Gallery" dialog box. No one is present on the Mac at the time, so no one clicks on the "Cancel" in the dialog box, so the Applescript times out and the cron job fails.
How do I get around this? Can I somehow start Excel without the **** "Excel Workbook Gallery" dialog? Is there some other trick that will allow the job to run unattended?

In Excel preferences (general tab) uncheck the checkbox that says "Open Project Gallery when application opens". that should remove the startup dialog.

Opens as a copy in Excel 2011

There are a few files that are floating around my company that open as a copy when opened in Excel 2011 on a Mac.
These are old files and the original creator can not be contacted to find out if something special was done to it.
If opened on a Windows machine it does not open as a copy.
It does not appear to contain any macros or special VB code.

HT201250 Problem with recent Excel 2011 update

I installed an update to Mac Excel 2011 yesterday. It complete sucessfully but the VBA component is now missing. All Exel files with VBA code now cannot be opened. The following message is shown for each:
Excel could not open xxxx.xlsm because some content is unreadable. Do you want to open and repair this workbook?
I attempted to use the Time Machine to restore the Excel applicatiion but it will not run because it says Excel is open when it is not.
Has anyone had a similar problem with the latest update to Excel?

I bought a refurb ipad 32gb. I have noticed when itunes via wifi fails to do an app update, it screws the whole ios; thereby forcing ipad to go into recovery mode. I thought Apple learned the hard way not to allow one app to bring down the whole os!! This is the 5th time an app caused this. last time Apple forced me to reinstall Itunes, wasted 2 hrs.
I worked hard saving up enough funds to get an iPad. Yes, i even paid Applecare too. If this can be fixed, I want a replacement or a full refund.
