I am facing problem that , while creating service master in AC03 system asking activity number , i have to put it manual there , the field is compulsory but i want it should take automatically by system like in material master , i check the configuration but i could not understand how to do it , please help

Hi,
In ACNR the number range is assigned based on the service category.
Go to SPRO - MM - External Service management - Service master - Define Service Category, please untick the check box for External Number Assignment Without Validation against the respective Service Category and save.
Now try creating a new service master using AC01, it will pick the service master No. from the internal number range maintained against the Service Category

Number range for service master record

i have an issue in number ranges for service master record.
when i create a service master record system is generating number ramdomly, its not in series..
where do i make the settings so that i will get service master number ranges in series...

Follow the path:
SPRO ->Material Management -> External Service Management -> Service master -> Define Number Range
In menu ->Group-> maination->Aagian Group-> Insert
Now Enter
Number Range Group Text     01( example)
From Number      80000000
To Number     89999999
& save.

1. Material(used for material being procured) master and service master(used for services being procured) are two different master details in SAP.
2. service master records to be used while procuring services with item category D, and service master numbers to be entered at service line item level. Same like materials, details like unit, description, service groups, valuation claas needs to be maintained while creation of service master.
4. standard reports are available in SAP to track the services procured based on the service master number.

1. What is use of Service Category. Do we need to use the default or we need to configure as per our requirement.
2. while creating Service Order, we need to enter Single Short Text in Item & Multiple Short Texts in Item Details. What is the actual use of providing Multiple Short Texts in Item Details.

I get this message on two different machines installing SQL2014 developer edition, a Windows 7 and a Windows 8 machine. Both machines have SQL2005 through SQL2012 developer machines installed and working great. I have tried uninstalling all SQL2014 stuff and
installing again making sure I was running as an Administrator to no avail.
How do I look at sys.key_encryptionswhen the server will not start to finish installation?

Sorry for the delay. We can exclude the media factor since you were able to install it on VM with this media.
If I understand correctly, Shanky said “Abve message can also appear due to corrupt profile so deleteting old profile and creating new one and using this to install would also help.Make sure you always RK on setup.exe and select run as administrator” which
means your user account may be corrupted rather than the Virtual account. You can create a new Windows user account and use it to log into the system. Then, re-try the installation.

Service Master / Activity Master description change Issue

Dear Experts,
I am facing problem with Service master / Activity Master description change problem.
Steps in the problem -
1) Service Master / Activity Master created.
2) Long term purchase order (with large quantity) is created.
3) Service entry sheet and Invoice has been posted for the Purchase Order.
Due Service master / Activity master description change requirement from client, description of the
Services are changed.
But it is not updated in Purchase order. (As purchase order has been created before service master description change)
and when i am trying to post next service entry sheet with reference to the long term purchase order created,
it is not adopting the new one service description.

The solution to your issue could be achieved as follows:
In the item level 'Service' tab for the corresponding PO line item, change the quantity to which you have already made Service Entry sheet. Then create a new line item with the Service number, once you enter the Service number you would see the new description here. Then when you create a Service Entry sheet with reference to PO, the system would ask you to select one of the two entries you have in PO. Here select the new entry which you have made.

You have to configure service category in SPRO for service master and you can assign the number range in SPRO
The path is SPRO is:
Materials Management-External Services ManagementService Master---Define Service Category
Service Master is created using AC03
The service master record counts as part of the master data within External Services Management and serves as a source of data for you to draw upon when creating service specifications. This enables you to save time and reduces the frequency of errors, since you need only enter the complete service descriptions in the service master record once.
A service master record contains the following principal information for the unique description of a service:
Service number
Service category
Descriptive texts (short and long text)
Base unit of measure
Material group
Valuation class by which G/l account is determined
when you reference it in the PO, all the data gets transfered and you avoids the mistakes

Service master no ranges

Hi guys,
We have not yet gone live. When we check the no ranges for "SERV" group of service master, current no status is 3000110 in production.
Can we change this to 3000000? is there any problem by changing this number?

Hi,
I think you people have taken the client copy with all the customizations instead of creating a client and transporting the requests. So it has taken the status of the source client.
You can go to transaction ACNR and reset the status to ZERO and then proceed with Service Master creation.

I know that for material master it can be done by using a special template

click on Groups. and insert new group with you are Number range either external or Internal number ranges .
Now add the service category elements to the group
Example:
Create Activity 01 Group.

Transfer of Service master short text from PR to PO

Hi All,
We have a scenario where we use Generic service number to order one time services. Based on the requirement we keep on changing the short text (description) of the service master in PO or Purchasing requisition. The issue is - Short text on generic service master is changed in PR but it is keep on reverting to original short text as in service master while converting PR to PO. .
For Example :
Service master - Code - 100001 - Description - "Generic Corp Miscellaneous Services"
I created a PR, included service no 100001 and changed the description of short text to - "Fixing tiles at foyer". Now when I converted PR to Purchase order service description should transfer to PO. But it is showing as 'Generic Corp Miscellaneous Services'. After investigation I found it is coming from the Contract that is linked with the PR as source of supply. And if I removed the Contract from the source of supply short text transfers from PR to PO. So Contract get precedence over PR.
The requirement is - short text of service master should transfer from PR even when source of supply is Contract. It means always transfer short text from PR to PO not from contract. Is there any user exit/ config or change to ABAP code is required.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have document management system active in your system and if it the document type of documnet (which you created in CV01N) has link object PO and PR. Surely it will be transafred from PO to PR. But if you have added document in service object in Me52N then it will never go to PO automatically.

Help with Field Selection in Service Master Creation AC01

Hi,
I've assigned internal numbering assignment for Service Master. I've activated External number check in OMV1. However, during service master creation, the user is still able to enter any number in the service number (ASMD-ASNUM) field.
Is there anyway to set this field to display only (not input)? I've gone through the field selection config but ASNUM does not appear.

For no external number assignment you need to maintain two things.
1. The number range group assigned to the service category in transaction ACNR should not have any external number range intervals.(mandatory)
2.In OMV1 Transaction you need to maintain the External number assignment as no i.e Blank field.

Custom Subscreen in Service Master AC01 not invoked

Defined custom subscreen(SAPLXBAS 8100) for service master AC01. User Exit is activated , however the line of code inthe main screen which calls the subscreen is not being called at runtime. Details are as follows
ECC6.0
UserExit : SRVASMD
Calling screen No. Area Called screen No.
SAPLBAS0 0300 ZUSATZ SAPLXBAS 8100
this is the line which is being ignored while executing the transaction ac01
CALL CUSTOMER-SUBSCREEN ZUSATZ INCLUDING 'SAPLXBAS' '8100'.

Here is step by step to implement an screen exit
Screen exits add fields to screens in R/3 applications. SAP creates screen exits by placing special subscreen areas on a standard R/3 screen and calling a customer subscreen from the standard screens flow logic.

1.From the main screen of the Project management transaction, proceed as follows:
Select Enhancement components and choose Change.
2.Choose Edit component.
3.Choose the screen exit and double click on it
4.Create your subscreen using the Screen Painter.
5.Design your screen to be added to the standard screen and activate the particular screen and return back to the flow logic .
6.Choose the PAI and PBO to write down the logic.
7.Generate your screen and choose Back (the green arrow) to return to the Project management transaction.
8.Go to the transaction ME22 to view the customer defined screen exit.
9.Enter the purchase order number and press Enter.
10.Go to the menu header --> Details.
11.Purchase number is visible on the standard screen
