Activity Creation in SAP from MSP ( Micro Soft Project )

Dear All,
Regarding activity cretaion in SAP from MSP, I have one query....
I know that we can definitely create internal activities from MSP , but there is a requirement to create extrenal / service activities. So just want to know whether external / service activity can be created from MSP or not.
Please share your views...

Hi,
Yes it is possible.
Under settings of OPENPS use more control keys as defined in IMG contomizing.
The control key determines whether the activity is processed internally or externally.

Dear All,
As we are planning to integrate SAP & MSP, I have one query regarding service activity creation in SAP from MSP.
In case of service activity in SAP we have to assign respective services also otherwise it does not get saved.So when we transfer service activity from MSP (after maintaining the respective control key in MSP ) how we will manage with all services because we can not define these service in MSP.
Apart from that we have some procurement parameters also like material group, purchasing org, price, outline agreement....we have nothing in MSP for these...so how we will manage with this.....
Please just share your valuable input to deal with this....Thanks..

I agree with you that by flexible field mapping we can do but my concern is that service activity should have services also defined in MSP because when this will come to SAP , it will ask for services & if services are not available then this will fail.

When Uploading From MSP To Oracle Projects: An Unexpected Error Has Occurre

Hi All,
When I try to send project data From MSP To Oracle Projects, we are getting following error: 'An Unexpected Error Has Occurred. Please Contact Your System Administrator.'
We are at 11i.PA.L
And BNE level 11i.BNE.C
MSP Projects version: 2003
Desktop PC: Windows XP (SP2)
Browser : IE7
We are getting this error only while sending the data to Oracle Projects. On the other hand, there is no problem while receiving projects from Oracle Projects.

Please verify the Note 236598.1 Compatibility Matrix for Integration with Microsoft Project
If you verify the note, for Windows XP SP2 with additional WebADI patches required
* For BNE.C users - 4613026
* For BNE.D users -- 5334664
as you are on BNE .C please verify whether the patch 4613026 is applied or not. if not please apply the pacth and test the issue

We are able to receive data from oracle project to microsoft project but unable to send data from microsoft project to Oracle project.

Sending Info from MSP to Oracle
In Microsoft Project, choose Oracle Projects > Send to Oracle Projects > Project data.
The Send Project: Select Project Template in page opens
In Microsoft Project, choose Oracle Projects > Send to Oracle Projects > MSP File
Receiving Oracle to MSP
In Microsoft Project, choose Oracle Projects > Receive from Oracle Projects > Project Data.
The Receive Project: Select Destination page opens. This page enables you to choose
if you want to receive an existing Oracle Projects, project or Oracle Projects template
as a new project, or update the currently open Microsoft Project file for a linked
project.
To update the progress information in a Microsoft Project file, the file must be linked and
open when you choose the Oracle Projects > Receive from Oracle Projects > Project Data menu option.

Creation of Material from SAP VIEW using CDESK.

Hi Experts,
I have one question related to creation of Material from SAP View.
CAD file created say SM1000.prt
Create DIR in CAD View say SM1000
Scenario 1 :   Create Material in Background from CAD VIEW or SAP VIEW from cad desktop, It creates material SM1000
                           in background.
Scenario 2 : Open CDESK ( Transaction)
                        Click on OPEN,
                        Selecting the DIR created SM1000
                        Create the material in background in SAP View, it gives message " enter material number"
Why am not able to create the material from SAP view using CAD Desktop. If any modifications needs to be done in CDESK CUS to solve this please let me know.

Hi Sudharshan,
maybe the reason for this is that your CAD applications provides a special material number and the customizing in CDESK is defined to use this number. In this case the number or value can by provided from the CAD application only from the CAD View.
In the SAP view the material gets created like in MM01 for example and so mabye you have to enter a material number.

Creation of WBSE in SAP-PS from all Phase of Project from cProjects

Hi,
Need suggestion for the automatic creation of WBSE in SAP-PS from each phase of Projects from cProjects i.e. multi level controlling scenario
I have done the required configuration of Define Controlling Scenario where for the project type, controlling method has given (Multilevel Controlling (Structure Element, Automatic).
But in my case only one WBSE is getting created for all phse s & project defintion of project in cProjects.
Request you to suggest me on this issue.

Accounting Intergation-accounting integration in my SAP ERP, as of relese of the project
2. Define Object Links for Accounting Integration
- 0FIN_INT_ERP_PS Single-Obj. Controlling on WBS Elements
- Search Fields OLR3_TS_PRPS_SHLP
- Proxy Class CL_DPR_OLR3_WBSELEMENT
- 0FRAME9 frame has considered
3. Controlling
- Controlling Scenarios: PS01 Costing Variant
- Then Costing Model has assigned to Controlling Scenarios
- Assignment of Cost Elements to Cost / Revenue rate
Please suggest me if i have missed some things. I am checking the planed cost in CN41 transaction of the PS module. Morever in Project in cProjects costing button is disabled & while doing calculate no planned cost os updating in Projects.
I am following role based costing process. Project Role has defined & employee assiged to Projects.

We almost have same issue to add users from several Active Directories.
BPC server is in Domain A. We perform to add users from Domain B. Our trusted relation between AD is Domain B approve Domain A (unidirectional).
We cannot get one user which is able to browse both AD. So we install BPC with a user which has rights to browse Domain A and we use another user in COM+ component (OsoftUSerManage) which has right to browse Domain B.
But it is not working : we encounter an issue (access denied) in web administration by adding users from Domain B.
Any idea ?

Automatic creation of customer from BP

Am using version ecc6.04 , I implemented SAP note 956054 including running all the reports included therein. Am still not able to create the customer through the automatic process. Is there anything exceptional that should be done apart from the following configurational settings that i have made:
1.1) Customizing of the synchronzsation options
Cross-Application Components
Master Data Synchronization
Synchronization Control
Synchronization Control
Activate Synchronization Options
And i madethe following entries:
BP CUSTOMER X
BP VENDOR X
CUSTOMER BP X
VENDOR BP X
I then made the following settings to connect CVIto PPO
SPRO:
Cross-Application Components
Master Data Synchronization
Synchronization Control
Synchronization Control
Activate PPO Requests for Platform Objects in the Dialog
I then activated the PPO for the synchronization object BP.
I activated creation of the post processing orders :
CVI_01 Customer -> Business partner
CVI_02 Vendor -> Business partner
CVI_03 Business partner -> Customer
CVI_04 Business partner -> Vendor
and i activated the entries . Software component AP-MD
I also made settings for customer integratios
And all the other settings in SAP Note 956054
Still after all these i cannot create a customer
Where am i going wrong pliz help am in trouble.

After customizing, I created the business partner using the BP transaction. In the syncronizationcockit I still have errors messages when I select BP->Customer and then give the BP number. How should I do this correctly. Please if possible a screenshot will be good.
I have an error message that a field information is missing. I filled the field but still have the same error.

Error while activating DSO after loading from another DSO..Production issue

I got an error while activating DSO2 after loading from another DSO1.
DSO1 load and activation was sucessful but while loading from DSO1 to DSO2 load was fine but got error while activating...

Automatic Partner Determination Std Contact Person during Activity Creation

Hi ,
There is a requirement in my project where the Standard Contact Person of the Sold to Party should be automatically determined during Activity Creation .I have completed the Partner Function configurations and now the Standard Contact Person is being successfully determined as the Partner.
However, there is a problem in a scenario where in another Contact Person other than the Standard Contact Person is to be determined during Activity Creation . In that case, the option to select the other Person is not being offered through a pop up window, but the System automatically populates the next Contact Person based on the BP Id ( Next on the Number Range )
Is there any way , so that the normal procedure of selecting one Contact Person from a list in the Pop Window can be incorporated , once the standard Contact Person is being removed from the Contact Person field in the Business Transaction .

Hello Maroof,
you should check first the standard relationship flag of the account. Means check the account and go to the
relationship contact person.
There you will find the standard Relationship Flag, which is relevant for the system to determine the main CP.
Furthermore please check the partner procedure:
For each partner function you can enter a value in field Maximum and Selection Limit. Please consider the F1 help
for the field Selection Limit where you can find the explanation when and how the selection popup is triggered:
Example 1
You enter 3 in this field.
When the system finds three or more partners who could fulfill this partner function, it displays a selection list.
You choose from the list which partners to enter in the transaction.
Example 2
You do not mark this field, but enter 5 as the Maximum for this partner function.
When the system finds six or more appropriate partners it displays a selection list.

Designer hangs during universe creation against SAP BW

Hi,
We are trying to create OLAP universe against SAP BW 3.5 and we are running into issue wherein the designer just hangs and is not able to create the classes and objects, in most cases we have waited for about 30-35 mins and still it doesn't come back. We tried this for both against an Infocube as well as against BW query.
I have couple of questions regarding the process flow for universe creation against SAP BW,
Does universe stores/extracts any data from BW, like storing LOVs for the hierarchies? I know it does reads the rows, columns, free characterstics etc. in case of BW Query.
The time to create the universe depends on what factors, size of the cube or amount of metadata? The customer is concerned regarding what is the guideline on how much time would this process take when the universe comes back with the classes and objects. If there is any such guideline, what is it?
Any response on this is appreciated.

I had similar problems, setting the "Connection timeout" on the SAP/BW connection within Designer (default 10 minutes) from 10 min. to 60 or 120. ALSO: uncheck the universe limits on "number of rows (5000)" and "query duration (10 min)".
This solved the problem.
The connection timeout which is set directly on the SAP-BW connection in designer seems to be used in a wrong way. The definition of the "close connection after xx minutes" means that the connction should be closed after xx minutes of not being used by any process.
With SAP BW the connection seems to be closed regardless of it's use after the specified time period.
