Activity report url iview counting

Hi,
I noticed that when you put some url-iviews on a page and the page is accessed in the portal, the activity reporting in the portal does add a hit to all url-iviews on that page. I would like the activity report only count a hit to the url iview when the user actually does access the url iview.
Does anyone knows how to achieve this.
Thanx,
Twan

Hey Michael,
Did you find the solution to your problem?
While I donu2019t have a direct answer to your issue, I have an alternative solution I could suggest.
I am with Sweetlets portal apps and if youu2019re at all open to trying an SAP Certified app, our Click Stream business package will give you the answers you are looking for and much more. (Huge bonus too is that you donu2019t have to fight with flat files and Excel spreadsheets anymore to get your portal usage stats.)
A thought and I hope this can help. Take a look at it here: [www.Sweetlets.com/ClickStream|http://www.Sweetlets.com/ClickStream] or even on the SAP EcoHub: http://ecohub.sap.com/catalog/#!solution:clickstream (good one for reviews)
Good luck.
P.S. u2013 There is a free trial too (installs in 20 min) so you can test it out beforehand to make sure it delivers the traffic stats you need.

    Hi All,
I am trying to preview the iView, "Portal Activity Report Editor" located under Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP -> Admin Interfaces -> Admin iView Templates -> Portal Editors under Content Administration role.
But, when I previee the iView, I get a RunTime Exception as follows:

    Hi Sandeep,
    Thank you for your inputs.
I had raised an OSS Message with SAP some days ago on this issue. SAP has replied back saying that only users with Content Administration role can have access to configure portal acyivity report. All other users can only view the results.

  • Portal Activity Report is not getting updated properly

    Hi,
I have created a test portal activity report with the Reporting type set as Page/iView activity.  I have added five iViews in this including a yahoo search URL iView.  The reporting period interval is set to Fixed Period with the date range that spans for around 10 days.
The issue is, even after hitting these iViews several times, I don't see the portal activity report getting updated.  Only for the yahoo search, I can see no. of Users as 1 and no. of Hits as 4 as a previous day report (today being friday, I could see thursday's yahoo iView report).
Here are the pre-liminary settings that I've done:
    1. All the iViews have the 'Monitor Hits' as 'true'.
    2. The Activate Data Collection is set to 'true' in the 'DataCollectionHook' that is available under com.sap.portal.activitydatacollector Service
    3. The properties viz., Activate Portal Activity Report, Gather iView statistics, Page statistics..etc are all set to 'true' in the ActivityReport Service
    4. I could see that the last aggregation time (in GMT) keeps changing every one hour without any problem.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Yuvaraj SG

    Hi Raghu,
I tried as per your suggestion.  At first, I thought that it's working.  But, the report came out only for one day (thursday's report) and there weren't any more reports after that.  So, I don't think this approach is working in my case!  Moreover, for me the requirement is that the iViews have to be in some other portal roles and the Activity Report iView will be in a different portal role.
So, I am currently checking the SAP Note 1084379 as Sandeep has quoted.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Avadh,
    Thanks for your reply.
I tested thru connection test of the system , it was tested successflly without any issues. all are into tick mark only.
but when i am trying to use the system alias name while creating Trasaction iview also i am not able to get the system alias name in the dropdown for selecting the system alias.
but system alias what ever it is "BIDCLNT100" is in active and connection test is done correctly without any issues.
Please let me know the problem why i am not able to get the same system alias name "BIDCLNT100" not able to get in the drop down list while creating the transaction IView??
Please reply , Thanks in advance

  • Looking for way to count a specific document hits(Not with Activity Report)

    Hello,
I have a certain Word document that I want to count how many users opened it. I am aware of the Portal Activity Report but this report tracks only iViews/pages ect. and my document is inside a KM iView which contains many other documents and I want to count just that specific Word document.
Is there a KM property that can be created or a service that can be applied in order to count this document's hits by users?

I have created a repository service which count document hits using a custom property defined.
    We are using NW04SP12.

  • Activity Report iView

    Hello all,
I have a question regarding Activity Report iView. We are using two portals. The support package level is SPS11 patch 6. The activity Report iView only works on one of the portals correctly. The data are displayed well. But the same iView on the other portal doesn't display any data. The message appears like: No data available for the chosen period.
I made the same settings on each portal.
I also made the right settings in the data configuration service.
Does anyone knows why the iView only works on one of our portals?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Best wishes

    Hello,
There could be various reasons for such behaviors. I will present 2 of the most common reasons:
    1. "DuplicateKeyException" issue -
An hourly aggregation takes place every hour during the day. When running a clustered environment, all server nodes "wake up" at the same time and try to perform the aggregation, so actually there is a race (since all server nodes are running the same application), and starting this moment data can't be collected (You can get a hint in NW7.0 from the "Status of Activity Reporting" iView when the following message appears: "The database contains non-aggregated data that is more than 2 hours old").
In order to release the "Traffic jam" which was formed, one should find the duplicated entry (Usually in the WCR_USERSTAT DB table), and remove it manually. Sometimes it is better to remove all the entries from this timestamp and maybe even the whole table.
However, this will only release the jam, but will not insure that it won't happen again on the next aggregation. In order to do so, you can take one of the following actions:
    (a) Install NW04-SP21/NW7.0-SP13 and on.
    (b) The recommended solution - Install the latest version of Activity Report, which can be downloaded from SAP note 1084379 - "Portal Activity Report - Latest version (SDA file)".
This behavior was fixed in NW04-SP21 / NW7.0-SP13, and was even improved in future versions (NW7.0 - SP17).
For further details please see SAP note 1054145.
    2. The selected iViews are not same iViews which are in fact inside the role -
The aggregation is OK, all the data is present within the DB, but when you try to generate a content report (iView/Pages report), you receive nothing or very little.
This usually happens when one adds to the report the source iView itself (the ancestor), rather than the role which this iView was assigned to (Notice that the iView which lay under the role has a different ID and a different PCD URL than the ancestor iView). This causes the report to display the source iView, which of course, is not accessible to any of the end users.
    Hope this helps!

  • Portal Activity Report - could not see the latest iview /pages hits.

I have configured my own iviews where they will display the 2 weeks iviews/pages that are accessed by users and count (hits) , but I am not able see the iview hits and iview names or pages hits or names in this Portal activity report, I could see only very old iviews not latest.
Suggest me if there are any settings or configurations that I need to make.

  • SSO to BW reports via URL iView

    Hi all,
I've searched the forum on this but could not get a clear guide. Here's my scenario:
    1. We use Windows logon credentials to sign on to the Enterprise Portal
    2. Once signed in, authorized users load a URL iView.
    3. The iView contains URL links to SAP BW reports.
    4. Based on user's role, they can access only certain reports.(Available report URLs will be different)
    5. User clicks on the link and opens another Internet Explorer window to show the BW report <b>without signing on</b> again.
Key question: How do we incorporate the SAP Logon Ticket into the URL and how do we configure BW server to accept SSO based on this URL?
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Kok,
The first step is you need to create a system object under system administration --> system configuration --> system landscape. Expand the portal_content. Right click the folder and create a new folder. Then right click on the folder to create a new system. This system object should point towards the BW system. You need to give the details of the BW server. The right click the system object and create an alias.
If you are using BW 3.5, you need to follow the 13 steps given under img. If BW version < 3.5 then you have to export the portal ticket to BW and BW ticket to EP.
    Regards
    Arun

Can anybody tell me the difference between showing BW reports through URL iviews, showing reports through Query iView and showing reports through SAP BW Report iView ?
Which one can i use for showing BW reports taking into consideration the implementation of SSO between the two? I tried the URL iView (using the Web URL of reports generated by BW) but it asks for Username/password. Is that the problem with SSO. How can i check if SSO parameters have been set or not. I have imported the verify.der to BW System and added that to ACL. Is there anything else which is required?
    Thanks in advance.
    Rgds,
    MA

    Hi Manoj,
I feel BW report iview will solve your problem. You can create a query sting in BW query designer and give the same in BW query  string text area while creating BW report iview.
In the case of an url iview you are just giving a URL link of the BW report (this will ask for username/password).
But, in the case of a BW report iview you can view the required query as an iview (user mapping can be successfully done in this case) You should give fully qualified domain name in Was server option while creating the system.
While using the logon ticket Login id of both the system (ie BW and Portal) should be the same.
Refer the link for SSO using logon ticket)

  • Print BW report embedded via URL Iview

    Hi,
We have a VC application which contains a BI report. In the VC we created a "Print" button which should print the entire contents of the VC Application. Unfortunately it seems this print is not compatible with the URL Iview since it ignores the content of the BI report.
Is this normal ? Is there a workaround available in VC to print a BI Web application via the VC ?
    thanks

Please let us know if there are any updates on this. I am also facing the same issue where I have a WAD report ( html link) in the VC model along with other reports in VC. The Print screen just prints the VC part and the WAD part comes as blank.

  • How to display an USERID on  "Portal Activity Report - Pages and iViews"

    HI,All.
    I have a question.
    It is as follows.
    A purpose&#65306;
iView of EP is used and called for contents of the WEB-AP server of various (Tomcat(Java)).
The acquisition of "EP login user ID" is difficult from the log of each WEB-AP server.
It wants to acquire information on "Which iView which EP login user how many times executed?" by using EP, and analysis/to use it.
    A present specification&#65306;
"Only information on "Number of users using iView" can be acquired in this function
though "Page and iView of portal activity report" of EP was verified to achieve the above-mentioned purpose.
It is impossible to analyze it, that is, "Which user ID used iView?".
    A question&#65306;
In "Page and iView of portal activity report"
How should I do to display "Which iView how many times did each EP login user execute?"?
Or, I want to know if there is a table with the informations.
    Environment&#65306;
    EP6.0&#12288;SP18
    OS:WindowsServer2003 EE sp1  rc2
    CPU:Xeon3.2GHz x2
    MEMORY:4GB
    HDD:36GB*2
    Other:Clustering
    Thanking you in advance.

    Hi,
You can try Setting the 'Monitor Users' property of the pages to 'Yes'. We did this for one of our portal but there seem to be a slight performance trade-off.

  • Problem in developing a Portal Activity Report iView

I have developed a Portal Activity Report iView and assigned some iviews to the "Specify Report Content" option! I am supposed to get the user information but instead, I see the message "No content available for the specified period".
       Am I missing anything?
Can someone help me out in this regard!!!

Keep in mind that the Portal Activity Reporting functionality only collects user information from hits to <b>pages</b> that have the <b>Monitor Users</b> property set to true.  You can monitor the number of hits to an iView, but cannot collect user information about those hits.  If you need this kind of information for an iView, I would recommend adding the iView to a page and then collecting the activity reporting information you need from the <i>page</i> hits.
See <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/58/7e234239f75733e10000000a155106/frameset.htm">Configuring iViews/Pages for Data Collection</a> for more information.
    Hope this helps,

  • Portal Activity report Iview - All Zeros !?!

    Hello Folks,
I followed to documentation step by step to enable the "<b>Portal Activity Iview</b>" in operations. I always get <b>zeros</b> instead of correct values when I preview the Iview.
What can be wrong? We are using Portal 6.0 SPS 12.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
I suspect you have not configured your data collection service properly
Please refer to the link below to know how exactly the Portal activity report must be configured. You may need to configure the data collection service in order for your iview to start showing data. The aggregator needs to be started ,for this to take place. Please follow the information in the link.In case you have trouble, please checkup if you can manually start the aggregator, which is located in ..jc00j2eeclusterserver0appssap.comirj

  • Activity Report Activation for iViews

    Hello all;
I want to activate the standard activity report for my EP 7.0 SPS 9.
I have already activated the Service Configuration parameters and restarted the services.
After that I have copied the activity report iView Template and added some special iViews to that template. I configured the interval for the report.
When I'm going to check the report iView in a preview, I'm not getting any results.
Do I have to configure something else? I have seen somewhere in help.sap.com ->Configuration of Monitor Hits for an iView,  but I'm not able to see these parameters in the configuration objects.
    Can someone help me?
    Regards Ingo

Thank you for your answer, but I have already seen that page.
My problem is, that I'm able to see sometimes some result in the Activity Report iView and sometimes I'm not able to see new results. Is there a Bug ?
    Regards Ingo
