Activity type in time sheet

Hi all,
In PS we donu2019t capture any cost. In such case, While entering timesheet, the system through an error message, to enter sender Activity type and it is not allowing to enter timesheet.
Now, what should be done to skip entering activity type and enter timesheet without entering activity type?
I guess it is controlled through work center, by not maintaining costing tab, but the system does not allow to save the work center without entering the cost center under costing tab.
Please suggest, in entering time sheet without activity type

Hi,
Go to --> SPRO --> Cross Application Components --> Time Sheet --> Settings for all User Interfaces --> Time Recording --> Choose Fields -->Data Entry section --> Activity types
Double click and in reference to data entry profiles we can restrict the entry for the activity type whether it is required / Display / Hide / Input.
Check and confirm whether the problem is solved

Activity types in time confirmation (IW41)

Hi,
I create an activity type and assign it to cost center with price using transaction KP26. This activity type is being included in the work center. When I create a time confirmation for the specific work center which has been used in a work order I have in the selection list of activity types in IW41 several options of activity types. How can I restrict to use only the ones I require?
What is the logic behind the selection of activity types in the time confirmation transaction?

It is not possible to change the activity type this with Enhancement CONFPM04 PM/SM order conf.: Customer specific input
or CONFPM01 fields are AFRUD-LEARR (activity type) and AFRUD-LOARR (wage type)

CATA: Time sheet: Transfer to target componets

Could you please please give me an overview of what CATA (t-code) does?
I have done some config in sandbox:
I booked time in cat2 with a sender cost ctr + activity type and receiver cost center in ECC 6.0. With out running cata (t-code), I was able to see the actuals in cost center actual line item report and PS.
I did not understand what was the purpose of CATA ?

However, I am not sure but, I don't thinks so, because even I am workinng in ECC6.0, I don't belive that this kind of development sap will do in any near future EHP or version. Please let me know you are on which EPH in ECC6.0
Because than there is no point of approval Functionality or T code - CAT4. It is one of the most required functionality of Any type of Time sheet.
There is some thing wrong. Can you double check and try to replicate the same in More reliable environment Quality.
This is not at all std. SAP behavior. Doe some analysis in in CJi3 with whose id actual cost got posted etc.

Regarding Time Sheet Issue....
To fill in time sheets in SAP . Make use of CATSDB to enter data.
Goto SE38-->Type CATS* and press f4..you would get the list of the programs..to enter and maintain timesheet data.

If you have defined activity types then you can define them with the right price in KP27 for each costcenter.
the costcenter is connected with the personelnumber.. in infotype 315 you can define which is the default activitytype for each person.
if you have only 1 activitytype you can also programm the user exit to fill it in by default
see EXIT_SAPLCATS_002 to implement a fixed activitytype for whole cats

OTL -Time Sheet Hour Type field detail required.

Hi all,
I'm working on a Report which gets time sheet data for an employee. My time sheet structure has project, Task,Type and Hour type. I have got all the column data as required for my report but i'm not able to find out where the hours type info (as mentioned above) is stored.
I do know that the LOV for the Hour Type column is from hxc_alias_values table. But i want to know the table /column where hour type info is stored when a person enters the time sheet.i.e., For an employee entered time sheet - project-task-type-hour type and number of hrs against it.
We tried a lot of options but were unable to find out. Any help on this will be very helpful.

The value will be available in HXC_TIME_ATTRIBUTES with Attribute_Category = ELEMENT - <Element Type Id>. This cane be retrieved by joining HXC_TIME_BUILDING_BLOCKS > HXC_TIME_ATTRIBUTE_USAGES > HXC_TIME_ATTRIBUTE_USAGES.

No costing Sheets But activity types

One of my client is implementing overhead costs without using costing sheets instead they are using activity types Can any body could brief me how this could be possible?

price each one with the desired rate
The costing formula in the workcenter whould have LABOH use the same field (LABOR HOURS) as LAB uses.
In transaction OP54 my labor formula (SAP007 in the work center) Is:
SAP_03 * SAP_09 / SAP_08 which means:
Labor * Operation quantity / Base quantity
I use the same formula for overhead - so that it uses labor hours
this means that a confiramtion of labor hours will supply the labor hours for OH calculation

Time sheet uploading from Non SAp to SAP R/3.

Hi,
          I am trying to upload the time sheets from Non SAp to SAP with the datails like the sales oreder for which the employee worked, time spent ect.
          While uploading this from Excel to R/3 using se38, I am gettig an error saying "Enter sender activty also".
          I have checked if the activity type is checked in the CATS data entry profile, it is selected in the defaults.
         I have cheked in KP26, for the year we have given the planned activity also.
         In KSPI, I have run the price alculation for all the cost center with the activity type.
         I have seen the validity periods of the cost centers, activity typs are in line with 2010.
          I am able to upload the time sheets for a few employees and for a few it asks for the "Sender activity type".
          Please assist me, its very urent.

For employees where you are facing this error, please check if Time Sheet defaults - IT0315 is maintained, and if not maintain it.

Getting Error in Portal while booking Time Sheet......

I am Getting Error in Portal when Booking Time sheet in Record working time Link. Getting below Error.
"Enter activity type only in conjunction with cost center"...I have entered data in KP26.
But for the same employee if i am booking the Efforts through R/3 (CAT2 Transaction) not getting the error. Successfully able to release the efforts it is storing in CATSDB.
PLease advice on this.

Actual activity price does not exist for cost center / activity type

Hi,
We are trying to upload the time sheet related data(number of hours an employee workred on a project) ect from Non SAP to SAP.
We have used a customized program and have loaded the data from se38.
All this HR data will be saved in CAT2
Later we transfer the time related data into SAP FI/CO using CAT7.
+When tested with a couple of employees time sheets, they got uploaded in SE38 proerly and when transfered it through CAT7 it was properly taking the hour*rate is cost and was reflecting in the respective cost element.
For a few time sheets in SE38 we were getting an error saying that the cost center(100501)/ activity type(EAT001) does not exist for 2010.
Hence we have taken, FY 2010, the cost centes and activity types in KP26 and have given the planned Activity as 1. No planned cost in KP06.
We have run the price calculation forr the FY 2010.
Then we were able to uplaod the time sheets, but when we tried to transfer the data through CAT7, it throws an error saying no activity price exist for cost center 100501/ activity type EAT001. If I ignore the warning an proceed, no amount is being calculated.
When uploaded employee time sheets before, all the cost were getting claculated and were entering into the respective cost elements, but now no amounts are being calculated and it is taking Zero.
When checked the previous years data i.e, 2009 all amounts are fine, in KSII I can see the activity quantity filled with some numbers in 2009, where from are they comming? I have checked KBk6 nothing was mentioned.

I never used CAT* though, but the error means that you need to maintain a activity price in KBK6 (Actual price)

Cat2-Time sheet

           Can any one please help out how to write the user exit program and which user exit in cat2 has to be used for the following scenario:
           Ther requirement is that after enter into the transaction CAT2 and the data is given for the Data Entry profile and personnel number and then enter into the time sheet screen .In the time sheet screen once the time,activity types,network and activity number are entered and saved it.After that if we again enter into the time sheet screen it should not allow to change the time entered.But the standard transaction allow us to change the time.If the user makes any changes and try to save it ,it should show the error message.

   use the enhancement CATS0006
2. in that there is FM
   EXIT_SAPLCATS_006
3. There we can issue error messages
   (so that it cannot be saved)
thru the TABLES parameter of the FM

For this, u will have to FETCH THE OLD DATA
using SELECT query from DATABASE TABLE,
so that u can compare them with the
ONE ALREADY SAVED,
and the NEW ONE, which is being entered.

   u can give a error message.

CATS INTEGRATION WITH PP AND PM MODULE ( TO FIND ACTUAL MANPOWER COSTING THROUGH ACTIVITY TYPE)

We have a scenario like, Client wants to track the actual manpower costing through activity type ( Ex: How much hours an employee worked on a particular work center to produce an “X” product, So that his actual cost should be loaded on that product.
We have employee ( 1. Staff 2. Worker 3. Contract labor employee and apprentice from third party roll and staff and worker we plan to go with negative time management and for contract labor and apprentice will go with through cats.
Since we are not going to run the payroll for contract labor employee and apprentice, we just maintaining the employee data as a group ( Ex: Group A,B,C etc.. Each group consists 20 or 30 employees, According to system each group as one employee and according to us each group consists as 20 or 30 employee.
The Activity type as well cost center will be created by Co module, the same will be assigned in info type 0315, but still i want more input from experts on the same, since i am new to cross application time sheet configuration, could any one help me out to find the actual manpower costing in a better way.

Physical significance of activity type on cost center

I want to know what is the phsical significance of definiing activity type on cost center.In my situation the activity type is defined on the cost center assigned to the maint. work center.Due to this actual cost is geetting reflected on my order due to the activity rate but physically no such cost is being incurred by the maintenance people.As when any material is consumed on a PM order then the MAP of material is shown as actual cost in PM order.This is ok.Then how this activity type defining is valid on the cost center when no such work is being carried out.Pls. reply.

As mentioned in earlier posts, we will assign Cost center & Activity types in Labor work center. In KP26, for this Cost center, Activity type & period (say Jan to Dec 2011), cost (Fixed & Variable) will be maintained.
Reason to maintain the KP26:
In Business, sometimes contract labors will be paid on hourly basis. If those people do the Maintenance job, as we are paying them, we need to calculate the labor cost.
For Permanent employee, company used to pay salary (fixed & variable component on monthly basis). That will be converted into hourly basis & the same will be maintained.
So that, for expense company doing (paying salary), there should be some offset (getting the work). If you have integration with HR & PM, you can capture the actual hours entered in IW41 in HR time sheet.
Even though there is no such cost explicitly, these cost should be calculated to arrive at the actual work done on equipment.

Activities missing in worklist in web time sheet (ESS)

We have a problem concerning activity elements which are present in the worklist in CAT2, but are partially missing in the worklist in the web time sheet. We are using SAP enhancements CATS0001, CATS0009 og CATS0010. I have looked into the project structure in CJ20N to ensure that the the status for the activity elements that are missing and those that are present, are the same. Is there any difference in the functionality that is generating the worklist in cat2 and in the web time sheet? How can I debug this issue?

You need to use a HTTP breakpoint in your implementation at a place where you pass the activity types.
