Actual 4G coverage Philly Market - South Jersey customers

Anybody else have little or no 4G signal outside Philly- South Jersey area?
With LTE only mode set (Pantech modem) I was able to get signal (two bars but great speed) in only a few areas. One area in Delran, two bars @ the RT 73 Verizon store (both LTE only mode). No 4G signal driving around in
the car in Mount Laurel/ Moorestown specifically RT 38 & 295 from Moorestown Mall and up to
the Verizon store on RT 38, and driving toward 130. According to the official maps it should be strongly covered. Driving, and parking in  this area locked into LTE it just keeps searching for 4G. If I turn LTE only mode off, and back to defaults I get usual Evdo Rev A and no shot of any 4G what so ever.
At this point its seems most of these areas are not "live" even though
the maps indicate they should be?  Anybody else have this experience?
Unless there is something else wrong the maps
are not even close to being accurate.

I've had the Pantech LG 4g modem for 5 days now. I'm in Moorestown and I get 3-4 bars 4g service, speeds of 20mbps but throughput 5-6 condsistently. I got the service because last Monday I was day-trading S&P 500 futures  and my DSL 3mbps was down 6 separate times between 9-11 am. It cozst me several hundred dollars because I had open orders that I coulod not control fastenough.
I knew I would eventually need a backup service and it seemed right to get the 4g 5 GB data plan even though it is a complete ripp-off. 5GB????? per mont????? for $50????? Are you vkidding me. I will switch the first sign of real competitive pricng plans regardless of my 2 year commitment. It is outrageous to charge an extra $10.00per Gig for anything over your 5 gig allocation. I am not naive enough to think we should get unlimited but a far more reasonable rate of $1 or even $2 would easily cover the additional Verizon infrastructure required to increase the bandwidth. Come on Verizon, lets not **** and pillage your loyal customers!
The fact is I was blown away by the performance the first time I fired up my 4g modem. I actually think the amazing throughput will give me a market advantage in my day trading and I'm willing to pay a REASONABLE price for that advantage.
Let me make sure I understand you.  You live in Moorestown, NJ which is considered one of the wealthiest cities in America, and you got a 4G modem because your DSL being down cost you HUNDREDS of dollars.  Assuming I have this part correct, I find it a bit hilarious that you continue your post by griping about the cost of the modem that YOU believe will provide you with in your words "a market advantage".  Am I off base here?  In addition, where did you get your information that a $1 or $2 would be enough compensation for any additional bandwidth you would use?  I think you need to re-read your own post and then take a moment to realize how ridiculous it is.

Can you filter a custom report by postcode?  I want to send an email marketing campaign to customers within a postcode range.  How do you do this? Thanks.

    Hey RP in Oz,
You can run a contacts report and select 'Default Address Type' as an 'Address Details Field' which will include the zip code a customer has inputted. You can then export the report, open it up in Excel (or similar) and filter based on the postcode. Once you have modified the list in excel, formatted it correctly and are satisfied, you can then import the report as a mailing list via E-Mail Marketing > Mailing Lists.

  • What is going on in South Jersey with calls?  I can't hear people and they can't hear me!  Is there an outage????

  • Actual 3G Coverage Map

Does anyone know where you can find a map that shows ACTUAL 3G coverage? The one on the AT&T website (http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/) is extremely misleading because everything blue is either EDGE or 3G, with no way to differentiate.

You can only go by an estimate. Even locations on the ATT map that indicate "best service" sometimes have no 3G service in some area. The only way you can really tell is if friends or associates have ATT 3G phones and they work in your area.
This has been a bone of contention for two years since ATT started showing the map on their website. It has never corresponded to real 3G coverage.
IF you buy your iPHone 3G at an ATT store, make them show you their demo 3G iPhone and see if it has the 3G logo on the top status bar and not the wifi signal from the store.

  • The Comcast Network in HD in South Jersey III: Does Anyone at Verizon Have Real Answers?

Game number 3 comes and goes by the way side.  NY Rangers vs. Philly Flyers supposed to be broadcast on Versus HD tonight.  However, local programming (The Comcast Network) has the rights to the game.  Thus, the game is blacked out on Versus HD and I'm left with the incredibly stunning hockey action in SD on The Comcast Network.  Please note that I'm not complaining about blackouts here (althought I think those ideas are a bit archaic in the world of pay TV).  I'm upset that my provider doesn't provide me an HD feed (which I pay extra for) of The Comcast Network.  Thus, Versus is off the hook, The Comcast Network is off the hook, and I'm left to point the finger... again... at Verizon FiOS.  How long will it be before we bring this channel to the HD lineup.
PS.  Before one of the admins responds to this with the usual... "Great idea, you should post it in the appropriate forum"... save your keystrokes!  I, and many others have tried the suggest a channel route and have seen very little done.  If you're going to have these forums for your customers, might I suggest having answers for us.  If you don't have answers, then go to your bosses and demand them.  Customer service folks.
Many thanks for taking the time... again... to read my post.

I apologize you are not happy with our responses to customers suggestions. We are always looking for customer input to make changes to the FiOS system. There have been customer suggestions for channels that have been successful, the most recent was for MSG in HD. We just won the rights through much persistence to be able to offer it in areas that we were not able to offer it before. http://libn.com/2011/09/23/fcc-tells-cablevision-to-give-fios-msg-in-hd/ . We do post numerous solutions in these forums, that is why we have them. Ideas though is a different ball park, they are mere suggestions. Just because someone has an idea, doesn't mean it will go to fruition though. The way to get those ideas to the people responsible for making those decisions is through the Idea Forums at http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Verizon-Idea-Exchange/ct-p/ideaexchange . We will never be able to adopt everyone else's suggestions, but as we see trends we act upon them. So if you would like a chance of that channel being adopted, please submit your idea there that way others can vote on it and we can see how popular it is.

  • South Jersey Outage & Lines Down

I live in an area that was hit by the storm on 6/23 which left us without power. We are still without power. The issue is one of the trees that came down in my yard yanked the cable wire from the telephone pole going into my house so when power is restored and cable is up again, I will have nothing. I have tried reporting this 3 times now by calling customer service. The first two times it appears due to the operators having such heavy accents, they didn't understand and thought I was just calling about the known outage. The third time, today, Mary advised she would put in a ticket for a technician to review the damage so the line can be repaired. She gave me a ticket number, but I can't find anywhere to check the status and I would like to know if she actually did understand what I needed. How can I find this information? If power is restored and it still takes another week for someone to come out and reattach the line, I do not expect to be paying for the service during that time because of the outsourced customer service.

    cashbethann,
I am so sorry for the delay! I have reviewed your account and see that a technician is scheduled for you. After the technician resolves the issues and your services are back up and running, reach back out to us and we will apply the credit for the services that you were unable to receive.

  • Any chance you will EVER offer actual Verizon coverage in West Central Illinois?

I live less than an hour north of Downtown St. Louis in west central Illinois and have been a loyal Verizon customer since the Ameritech days... (over 20 years.  We moved here knowing that "big red" would take care of us and it is frustrating to not be able to get the full benefit of my smart phone since there is absolutely NO Verizon coverage in our area and the best data we can hope for is 1x extended coverage for about a 30 mile radius.  I wish Verizon were more forthcoming about their expansion plans, or lack of plans so I could decide what to do accordingly.

If there isn't coverage within 30 miles of you then it will probably be  a LONG time if ever before you get coverage as it make sense for Verizon to cover the areas nearest current coverage first. You could check local zoning records and see if Verizon has applied for any permits. If not then it's probably best to go with another carrier since it could take a year or even 2 to build a tower once a permit is applied for.

Unfortunately it looks like the woefully outdated November 2008 Channel Line-up PDF's are back.
Oh well. I got half of what I asked for. Updates will need to wait. Perhaps when the line up increases or has major changes, the new publication will be posted? I am looking for somehing major to happen but perhaps it's just a pipe dream. Perhaps a new guide provider anouncement will be on the next one. Don't want to start rumors because don't think it will happen. But it's all good.
Old page is back that is why the PDFs are back. Looks like the filtering and line up issues are being repaired. I do believe the new format will be back with updated information.

  • SEC network not in HD in the Philly market?!

Why is the SEC not in HD?! It's 2014 Verizon get with the program! I pay over $200 a month for your **bleep**ty service every channel should be in HD! What's the point of watching football in Low-Def? It looks like **bleep**! I have a beautiful 65' flat screen and I'm watching a **bleep** picture!

WatchESPNapp updated for SEC Network - HD Report                If you have a compatible device like a Chromecast or appletv Amazon FIRE Roku or XBOX then you can get the watchespn app and stream it to your big screen in HD no matter where you're at.   It's also available for mobile devices in general Apple and Android.
HD is only avail in FL and TX apparently, everyone else gets SD,  BUT if you have one of the above then you can do HD on any tv,

  • Why does the Chat feature never work?  Does Vorizon actually have people working to assist their customers?  Terrible customer service.

    Good morning,
I have serious concerns about the customer service I receive from Vorizon Wireless.  We have gone into a store to talk to someone, but no one offered to assist us.  ****-poor.  Now, I am trying to figure out a usage issue and your live chat feature is not working.  If you offer the feature, why not have it usable???
    Thanks.
    Tim

In most cases the chat service will take you a Sales Rep. I ahve learned that the sales reps on chats are for Sales. Unlike Customer Care and Store reps, the chat reps are only given information that pertain to the online order process. I have been told they do not have access to Prepaid Accounts, they cannot make changes on accounts, they cannot even place an order for you, they can simply guide you through and explain the steps. They can explain plans and what not as those pertain to sales, but for anything else it is best to call Customer Service. There are service chats but those are ungodly difficult to get into.

  • 3G coverage reviews

Does anyone know if there's a website or other resource where people can rate their reception in the AT&T 3G network? According to the AT&T website, I'm in prime 3G coverage, both at home and at work. But then, I was also supposedly in great coverage 10 years ago when I got an AT&T cellphone, and I had dropped calls and zero bars everywhere I went.
Or conversely, is anyone here from the South Jersey (Gloucester county) area? If so, how is your 3G reception/signal strength? My current contract with Verizon is up in January, and I need to decide if I want to switch. Verizon coverage is excellent here, but I'm a little miffed that their "unlimited" data plan has a 5GB/month limit. It's a limited-unlimited plan, I guess.

It is fine here. Never had issue.
As for 3G map, well it is as accurate as needed to be by laws about advertising. Thus should actually answer your question. You can get down close to see reported coverage (which is data from their actually customers).
Not sure how you expect random people in a forum to help any by saying it is fine for them where they live. Not like you know exactly each place any user that responds is.
Also your question is more like a "poll" which is against the TOS you agreed to here. Sorry if we have come off as rude, but the question is just odd for this forum since it doesn't meat the requirements of a post here.

  • Lack of coverage

I've looked through the forums and see many people complaining about a lack of coverage and then a few customers replying by stating "you should have known within 14 days that you didn't have coverage.  It's your fault you're stuck in the contract."  Which sure, if the contract states you get a 14 day trial, so be it, but that doesn't cover all the bases.  My phone worked fine for more than 14 days, so I was okay with my coverage.  We moved after that point and noticed that our service was rather dismal (can't make calls in the house, had to go outside).  I went through all the fun loops of talking to different people at Verizon, which led to them sending an extender to our house.  It's nice in theory, except that it struggles to actually give us any more signal.  On top of it not actually helping anymore, we now have another concern.  When the power goes out, i lose all service again.  Tough crap if something bad happens and I need to make a call.  Guess I'll just have to step outside into the storm.  Yeah, I could buy a battery backup unit, but that would be me throwing more money at a problem I shouldn't have.  I'm running out of options, but still have time left on my contract.  Would love for Verizon to contact me and either figure out how to fix the issue, or let me out of my contract.
Here's looking at you Verizon Wireless Customer Support

We have been with them for years, would love for them to care. but I have seen the dwindling support and the removing of power from those who use to be able to help over those years. I challenge any verizon employee to be seen even. I cant even find an e mail address or any other way to contact verizon other than to buy more from them. This is their "provided customer service" so thought I would use it as a last effort as I know of nothing else to do. I was hoping someone out there had some luck somehow and could give some advice or one of those employees I have seen on here rarely in the past might be able to help or something.
I basically came here  assuming I was going to just have to cancel our account as the early cancel fees would be cheaper than continuing to pay for nothing till contracts up. buying their booster the store tried to sell us would probably solve the problem and may be cheaper in the long run but I am also tired of the "give us money while we do less" crap going on with this company. 5 years ago we had fine enough service in my house, we have watched it fade over the years (even tho they say they are putting up better faster service in the area) until we had to go outside to keep our calls connected to now, we are put in roaming while at home. I shouldnt have to keep paying more to keep my service I originaly paid for in my opinion.
I thank you for any help you can find and your continued responses on this thread. But this is also not your responsibility. I am thankfull for anything you can find tho. I am also doing my research into who all I can complain to, not that that will help either, but it might keep one more person from them and much like here it is probably only good for venting. nothing will come of it, but it least it wont stay pent up inside.

  • 3 Month Repair Wait Time in South Africa

The mind totally boggles how RIM can sell South African customers a phone that has a standard three month repair wait time. Apparently, there are no repair facilities in South Africa and the phones must be shipped overseas for repair. What are you doing selling phones in our country without the proper facilities? You are creating an extremely bad reputation amoungst high end South African consumers. Either remove the phones from the market entirely or investment in the proper repair facilities.

RIM does not sell phones in South Africa, your carrier does.
You are not being reasonable to think a manufacturer like RIM must have a repair facility in each country in which its devices are sold, as RIM is in over 150 nations. Do the math.
