Actual dates are altered during schedule calculation

I've had an unusual problem the last couple times I've calculated a P6 schedule. Actual dates from a prior update are being changed. It's random. Also, a few activities without progress (scheduled to start a couple weeks in the future) are randomly given actual starts a few weeks in the past.
I can deal with activities that are given actual dates when they shouldn't. But, I don't want to deal with actual dates changing after doing a schedule calculation.
If you're puzzled at what I'm talking about, here's an example.
Activity X has an actual start date of 07Feb11 and is not complete. It's scheduled completion date is 31March11. There are no out of sequence errors, or other errors, because everything was cleaned up. A schedule update is done and the activity finish is given an actual finish date of 07Apr11, and the schedule is calculated.
After it is calculated, the actual start date is changed from 07Feb11 to 01Apr11.
This has happened to a few activities (random), and the changes to actual dates is also random.
What's going on?

Are the activities or resource assignments set to Auto Compute Actuals?

  • Activity milestone actual date replacing schedule date

    Hi,
The last few years we have been using activity milestones. These milestones are offset from the early start date of the activity. We manually add the actual date and the schedule date would remain the same. We recently added some hot packs and now when the user puts in the actual date it also replaces the schedule date with the actual date. Reading throught some of the OSS notes it sounds like this is the way it works and the way it was working before the hot packs may have been wrong. I was just wondering if anyone really knows how the milestone schedule date and actual dates are suppose to work. We prefer that the schedule date remains the schedule date and not revert to the actual date. Any info would be appreciated.

SAP stated that once the actual date is input then the schedule date would change to the actual date. They said this is how it is suppose to work but if we wanted to leave the sched date alone then there was a note we could put in the system. We did this and it works like we want.

  • Exits for Actual Date in PS Module

    Hi Experts,
I am having problem with Actual,Fixed and Schedule Dates in PS Module for Transaction CJ20N when we Selected the Milestone for an Activity, these above fields will appear.
When i Entering the Actual Date Keeping the Fixed Date Space, the date what i Entered in Actual Date is Updating in Schedule Date. Means both Actual and Schedule Date are Same.
My Problem is ,  I can Change the Actual Date upto i Reached the System Date, and if the Actual Date is Greater than or Equal to System Date, Schedule Dates wont Change,if we wish to change the Actual Date, the schedule remains unchanged. But in my case this wont happen, if i give the Actual Date as a Future Date or Past Date, this date is updating in Schedule Date.
Can anybody suggest the solution to solve this issue. If any User Exits or BADIs are there for those Fields, please help to solve this issue.

    Hi,
As u suggested, i had checked, but its not giving our desired result.
    My Question is :
    1. Fixed Date : If we give Fixed Date, It should take as Schedule Date, Once Scheduling Date (i.e. Fixed Date)    Equal to  System Date, Fixed Date should not Allowed to Edit. If Fixed Date is Less than System Date, then it should Allow to Change the Date.
2 .Actual Date : It should be Independent. It  should not influence other Fields.
    3. Schedule Date : As Given Above, Fixed Date is nothing but Schedule Date..

  • Basic / Scheduling dates are calculated for both main orders and Collective

How the Basic / Scheduling dates are calculated for both main orders and Collective orders?
when in master data we have given different value of in house production time for both the orders.

    Hi,
The basic dates are calculated from the data mentioned in the Material Master - In-house production time days, either lot size dependent or lot size independent.
The scheduled dates are calculated from the timings maintained in the routing.
In the configuration for Scheduling parameters for the order type - Adjust scheduling - the dates can be adjusted.
Kindly revert back if you need any further clarifications.

  • Dynamic Calc processor cannot lock more than [100] ESM blocks during the calculation, please increase CalcLockBlock setting and then retry(a small data cache setting could also cause this problem, please check the data cache size setting).

    Hi,
Our Environment is Essbase 11.1.2.2 and working on Essbase EAS and Shared Services components. One of our user tried to run the Cal Script of one Application and faced this error.
Dynamic Calc processor cannot lock more than [100] ESM blocks during the calculation, please increase CalcLockBlock setting and then retry(a small data cache setting could also cause this problem, please check the data cache size setting).
I have done some Google and found that we need to add something in Essbase.cfg file like below.
1012704 Dynamic Calc processor cannot lock more than number ESM blocks during the calculation, please increase CalcLockBlock setting and then retry (a small data cache setting could also cause this problem, please check the data cache size setting).
    Possible Problems
Analytic Services could not lock enough blocks to perform the calculation.
    Possible Solutions
Increase the number of blocks that Analytic Services can allocate for a calculation:
Set the maximum number of blocks that Analytic Services can allocate to at least 500.
If you do not have an $ARBORPATH/bin/essbase.cfg file on the server computer, create one using a text editor.
In the essbase.cfg file on the server computer, set CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH to 500.
    Stop and restart Analytic Server.
Add the SET LOCKBLOCK HIGH command to the beginning of the calculation script.
Set the data cache large enough to hold all the blocks specified in the CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH setting.
    Determine the block size.
    Set the data catche size.
Actually in our Server Config file(essbase.cfg) we dont have below data  added.
    CalcLockBlockHigh 2000
    CalcLockBlockDefault 200
    CalcLockBlocklow 50
So my doubt is if we edit the Essbase.cfg file and add the above settings and restart the services will it work?  and if so why should we change the Server config file if the problem is with one application Cal Script. Please guide me how to proceed.
    Regards,
    Naveen

Your calculation needs to hold more blocks in memory than your current set up allows.
From the docs (quoting so I don't have to write it, not to be a smarta***:
CALCLOCKBLOCK specifies the number of blocks that can be fixed at each level of the SET LOCKBLOCK HIGH | DEFAULT | LOW calculation script command.
When a block is calculated, Essbase fixes (gets addressability to) the block along with the blocks containing its children. Essbase calculates the block and then releases it along with the blocks containing its children. By default, Essbase allows up to 100 blocks to be fixed concurrently when calculating a block. This is sufficient for most database calculations. However, you may want to set a number higher than 100 if you are consolidating very large numbers of children in a formula calculation. This ensures that Essbase can fix all the required blocks when calculating a data block and that performance will not be impaired.
    Example
If the essbase.cfg file contains the following settings:
    CALCLOCKBLOCKHIGH 500  CALCLOCKBLOCKDEFAULT 200  CALCLOCKBLOCKLOW 50
then you can use the following SET LOCKBLOCK setting commands in a calculation script:
    SET LOCKBLOCK HIGH;
means that Essbase can fix up to 500 data blocks when calculating one block.
Support doc is saying to change your config file so those settings can be made available for any calc script to use.
On a side note, if this was working previously and now isn't then it is worth investigating if this is simply due to standard growth or a recent change that has made an unexpected significant impact.

  • Actual dates from confirmed activities are not rolled up to wbs

    Hi
In my Business Scenario, I need Project Definition, WBS, and Network
header to derive dates from activities assigned to them. I indicate the
Project definition start date and rest of the schedule need to happen
which is achieved through config i have done
I have created a project with two WBS and one network attached to
project definition. 4 activities of the network are attached to these
    WBS
When I have done the scheduling, the basic dates are properly
calculated for Project Definition, network header and WBS
Now I have released the project and started confirming the activities.
After complete conformation of 1st activity, i have schedule the
project to see the dates. Now the dates of Project Definition, network
header and WBS are derived by the activities which are not confirmed.
Ideally the basic dates of Project Definition, network header and WBS
are to be derived from activities confirmed and yet to be confirmed the
way the basic dates are derived before confirmation.
As a result of this the basic dates are showing wrong dates which are
    derived from unconfirmed activities
    Warm regards,
    Ramakrishna

    Hi,
    This is standard system behaviour.
Basic dates at WBS level do not change based on activity confirmation. However, actual dates at WBS level  get updated from network activities based on confirmation.
"Tentative actual start date for WBS element" and "Tentative actual finish date" get updated from activity confirmation in the case of WBS with activities assigned to it.
This tentative dates can later be transferred as actual dates.
Basic dates do not get automatically updated based on confirmation of activities

  • Delivery schedule dates are coming in Past dates

    Hi Friends,
In the Scheduling Agreements the delivery schedule dates are coming in the past dates even tough the scheduling agreements are having new schedules. There is also open quantities there for the scheduling agreements.
please kindly explain me what is the delivery schedule date in Scheduling Agreement.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Kannan M

    Hi Khan,
Just check this thease might be the reasons to get correct the delivery schedule.
To access a delivery schedule, mark a scheduling agreement item and choose Goto ® Item ® .
The following data is displayed in the delivery schedule tabstrip:
    ·        Delivery schedule number and date
    ·        A wide range of standard cumulative quantities
    ·        Delivery information
To display deliveries for the delivery schedule, choose Deliveries on the delivery schedule tabstrip.
In scheduling agreements involving external agents, the system displays deliveries made to the customer by external agents as consignment issues.
    ·        Correction delivery information
To display or create correction deliveries, choose Corr. delivery on the delivery schedule tabstrip.
    ·        An analysis function
    ·        Information at a glance
To display a summary of delivery schedule data, choose Short disp. on the delivery schedule tabstrip.
    ·        Schedule lines
Choose DlvSch.Hdr on the delivery schedule tabstrip to access the delivery schedule header. The following data is displayed here:
    ·        Information on quantities received by the customer
    ·        Information on the customer fiscal year and cumulative quantities reset due to a year change
    ·        A wide range of cumulative go-ahead quantities
    ·        Notes on the delivery schedule
    Correcting Cumulative Delivered Quantities
    Prerequisites
You correct cumulative quantities in scheduling agreements:
    ·        In case of returns
    ·        When there has been a processing error
    ·        When there has been a year change
    ·        When you are transferring initial quantities from a legacy system into the SAP System
To do this, you create a correction delivery within the delivery schedule itself. This delivery is not relevant for requirements planning, shipping, goods issue, or billing.
Correct cumulative quantities only when the customer has not posted goods receipt.
    Procedure
To create a correction delivery (document type LFKO):
           1.      Choose Corr. delivery on the delivery scheduletabstrip.
The system displays a dialog box in which you enter a:
    -         Correction delivery date
For help on deciding where you want to position the correction delivery, choose Display. The system lists delivery dates in chronological order.
    -         Correction quantity
Enter a negative correction quantity by placing a minus sign after the quantity.
           2.      Choose Enter and save the scheduling agreement.
    Result
When you save the correction delivery, the system updates the cumulative quantities in the delivery schedule.
To display correction deliveries, choose Deliveries on the delivery schedule tabstrip, or  Environment ®  Display document flow.
    Example
Your customer returns 200 pieces of material from a delivery made on 7/10 because of damage during transport. Several other deliveries have been made before you prepare the correction delivery, so you view a list and choose an appropriate date. In this case you decide on 7/14 because it occurs after the delivery on 7/10 and before the delivery on 7/15.

  • Actual dates should not impact the Network scheduled dates

    Hi
I have planned schdeuled dates (Early/latest).
When i am confirming the activity the actual dates get updated
When i schedule the network the scheduled planned dates are recalulated
This should not happen for this client i am working for
The requirement is that the Planned Scheduled should remain fixed and
should only change if duration, relationship etc changes.
I have tried different option to solve this but still no clue
    Adjust basic date 1, 2, 3 option
    Shift Order
No date Update - this seems to work but not visible in CN22/CN25/CJ20n
Kindly highlight if any of you have come with similar requirement & provided solution to it
Either thru standard functionality, configuration or any development
    Cheers

    Hi Manoj,
I had the same requirement and able to achieve it by std. settings. Keep in mind that the planned dates wil get changed when you do the final confirmation. You should have the control on the planned dates until the activity get Fianlly confirmed.

  • Actual data different during confirmation

    Hi all
I confirmed first operation with yield of 800pc out of production order of 1000 pc and put 200pc as scrap. Now during confirmation of second operation the actual data should be 800 for yield but the system showing 1000pc. What are the settings that system will show as required.
    Regards
    roshan

    Hi,
Pl. check ur entries in "Parameters for order confirmation - opk4". In the control data tab, check ur entry in " generated confirmations without qty. adjustments".
If  don't set that indicator, then the scrap qty. will be taken into account.

  • Scheduling after entering Actual dates

    Dear Members,
I have a scenario where I want to reschedule the project after entering actual dates for the activity.
    Lets say,
An activity was planned for Duration : 8 Days and work : 64 Hrs  (Capacity is 8 hrs/day)
    20.05.2009 to 28.05.2009
Now I am confirming the activity for the first time after say 4 days work :
    20.05.2009 to 24.05.2009
but the work done is only 16 hrs.
Now the remaining work is 48 hrs in only 4 days.
Requirement is that... scheduling should shift the dates of the activity according to capacity and remaining work.
48 hrs can be completed in 6 days... so the finish date of activity should be increased by 2 days... from 28.05.2009 to 30.05.2009.
I hope I have put my requirement in a meaningful way... please help me on this...
(I know that instead of increasing the dates and delaying the project, it is recommended to overload the capacity and finish the activity withing the planned duration.. but I cant increase the capacity...)

    Dear Amol,
I have come across the same business requirement in one of the project implementation.
So I had given a logic to my ABAPer to calculate the forecast duration and automatically bring the value in the internal activity screen.
The user exit used was CONFPS04, there is an include available where you can out the code for this enhancement.
Hence, whenever you will do the confirmation, as per the calculation you have given in your example, system will calculate & update the forecast duration field. Now, everytime you will do the scheduling, on the basis of the value in the forecast duration, system will schedule the project.

  • WBS Forecast dates disappears during scheduling after final confirmation

Hi dear Experts.I faced a problem with WBS dates.
The system overwrites forecast and basic dates on WBS after final confirmation of attached activities. And start to schedule wbs dates from dates of activities with no confirmation. Is there any way to solve this prolem?
In other words i need my WBS to take into scheduling ALL the operations forecast date. Moreover how the system can overwrite the forecast dates wich were entered manually by user?
    Green - actual dates
    Yellow (orange) - forecast dates
    Bue - Basic dates
    Please help.

    Hi Kirill,
Please check the control parameters for WBS Scheduling. Check if the scheduling method over here is WBS Determines Dates. If this is the case, irrespective of the scheduling that was carried out at the activity level, the system overwrites the basic and forecast dates present at the WBS level. May be in your case the scheduling method that had been used was "Network determines dates".
. Please change this and let me know if this helps.

  • In Aperture 3.4 Export Slideshow to a video, what are the actual Data Rates used for "Best", "High", ... "Least" quality for a given resolution?

My Photo website host (SmugMug) converts uploaded video files at a specific Data Rate in Mbps before installing them. I would like to compress my slideshow video file to the same rate before I upload it to reduce file size and upload time. When I choose the "Custom" setting for an Export, I can choose 1 of the 5 Quality choices and see the estimated file size. But, I cannot know what the actual Data Rate is until after I wait a long time to export the slideshow (hours for a long slideshow) and then examine the resulting file in QuickTime Player's Inspector.

I ran a few tests using a short slideshow (16 images, 1:23 mins/secs) at 1,728 x 1,080 resolution to find out the bit rates for various quality level choices.
Export setting              Quality          Resulting bit rate          File Size
    HD 1080p                    default                20.68 Mbps              214.8 MBytes
    Custom                       Best                   20.49                       212.8
    Custom                       High                     6.25                         65.0
    Custom                       Medium                3.97                         41.3
However, I don't know if those bit rates will be the same for different length slideshows or for different output resolutions. My SmugMug host site uses an 8.0 Mbps rate for a 1728 x 1080 video file. If I choose Custom/Best, my file will be almost 3 times bigger and much higher quality than necessary, but if I choose Custom/High, my file will be smaller and lower quality than SmugMug's converted version.
I have installed MPEG StreamClip that will let me convert an exported Aperture slideshow video file, and StreamClip allows me to choose a specific bit rate in Mbps. But, I would prefer not having to do a 2 step process (Export from Aperture, then convert in StreamClip).

  • Original dates in comparison of actual dates

    Hi Experts
I have a project with certain activities and partily executed (few activities are confirmed and partially confirmed).
For the finally confirmed activities, the planned earliest and latest dates if activity are matched with actual dates.
To have an analysis of planned and actual dates, how to retain the original dates?
Over a period of time, i have incerted new activities. To enable bringing these activities in schedule, i need to re-schedule the project.
But, the origjnal schedule also will get rescheduled. I am looking for retaining the original schedule despite repeated reschedules for the purpose of future analysis.
Generally, the project progress in gantt chart (general business requirement) is monitored with out deviating the original schedule.
    Require comments by experts.
    warm regards
    ramSiva

    Hi Mahendra
My scheduling scenario is bottom up, because the individual activities and procurement lead times will decide the actual planning for each WBS.
So, as you suggested, once after complete structuring and initial scheduling, i will transfer the basic dates to forecast dates.
Then onwards i will keep reschedule after confirmation / partial confimation  / addition of new activities.  Is this method keeps the forecast dates unchanged forever and gives information on iniital schedule?
During intermittent rescheduling, will the forecast dates get affected as like basic dates (due to my scenario bottom-up)?
    warm regards

  • Line items are missing during transferring ITS to EBP--tricky problem

    Hi,
We are using EBP 2.0 version.
Some shopping carts line items are missing while transferring shopping cart data from ITS to EBP.
This is happening randomly.we had checked all the shoppping cart related tables in EBP.
For example in my shooping cart 4 items are there, during transferring shopping cart data from ITS to EBP all 4 items are updating for all the shopping cart related tables except account assignment table.
In account assignment table for this particular shopping cart only 3 items are updated except first one.
This is happening randomly for few of the shopping carts that too most of the cases first  item of  the shopping cart was not updating reqacct table(this is account assignment table for shooping cart items).
I have debugged entire scenario, but i couldn't find the problem.
any one could you please advise me....why this is happening?whether it is a version problem?
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    Hello Ravi,
I guess you already checked OSS notes for this.
Have you checked in the area of ITS ?
When ITS sends data to EBP, only the actual screen data is sent:
    - item procurement data from basic data
    - item accounting data from accountig tab
then this data is used to update the SC.
If you have debugged those 2 screens, you should see what is happening.
You say that only 3 reqacct lines are updated: does it means that you have the 4 lines previously created, or only 3 ?
If you change one line item quantity, you should see this updating the reqacct. Same if you go directly in accounting tab.
    Finally, there are two options:
    - this is an ABAP error, so you should catch it in debug
    - this is an infrastrucute error (ITS is not sending the data), so you should get the data sent by ITS in debug mode
Sometimes in productive environment with an heavy loaded ITS, you can loose some data. Available memory is not enough to fill in correctly ITS session containers.
    Rgds
    Christophe
