Actual Help Please

Yeah I was wondering how to get real help from Apple when you have a problem. I have a small fortune tied up in music that I no longer have access to and I would love to sit and chat all night but I just want it fixed now!

Thanks for all your help....you didn't read the apple support policy did you. Go find it, it is the thing that you run into 40 times before you get to an actual phone number list and it says Apple does not support iTunes so basically they tell you to post your crap online and hope that some uber geek will help you because they could care less.

Help please. How can you fade or crossfade songs on the actual iPod??

Hi. I just got my nano today. Was prompted to download version 7, did it, and everything went smoothly. All songs transferred to my iPod, no problem. However, the cross fading did not transfer. However, given that I just downloaded version 7 I might not have set it to cross fade before downloading all my songs. Does this mean I have to delete all the songs and start over? I've tried connecting the iPod with the usb cable and setting the crossfade to 4 seconds but it doesn't translate to the iPod. Help please. I realllly love major fading. In other words i want NO silence between songs. Thanks !

Oh wait, cross fading and gapless are different. So I can have gapless which I think I do have because the next song starts realllllly fast after the last one ends. So that is probably gapless but cross fading is not available on any models? Is that it? thanks alot

Help please - An email address that I rarely used several years ago got reset to someone else's apple ID in place of the email account they used to create their account. How can this happen?

A friend accused me of switching an email account that I used several years ago to send them photos on Flikr (gmail) for their Apple ID - in other words of.messing with their account. I only used the gmail account to post / send them and several other people photos on a few occasions and have not used the account since. I forgot that I had it. When this friend couldn't access their iTunes account the store discovered that the email had been reset to my very old gmail address. How is this possible? Now, they are accusing me of hacking in although no purchases were made and nothing was done with the account. Still, my reputation is at stake. Could they have done it in error? It looks bad for me. Help please.

I made up the names edward and daniel, it's not actually anyone's email address, so no need for concern.
In practice, I'm sure you're right that I would have fewer problems with a longer, more complex email address. But in principal, the problem remains. I could sign up for the Apple ID
1234.NoOneWillEverUseThisAddress.5678@gmail
and someone else could sign up for the Apple ID
1234.NoOneWillEverUseThisAddress.5678+1@gmail
and apple would have no problem with it, even though for all intents and purposes it's the same email address. So the problem is not just the ambiguity of my, to use Dahveed's words, overly simplistic and unsophisticated, email address:
there is a fundamental flaw in the way Apple links email addresses to accounts that allows for this ambiguity. If they followed the same conventions that gmail did, there would be no possibility of this problem.

Need Urgent help please? I need to restore from a previous iphone backup.

Oops, I admit it - I messed up but need help please?? I received a replacement iphone today. My broken iphone OS and my itunes had the latest software updates and I did a full backup before going to the store to get the rerplacement. However, when I got home with the replacement iphone and plugged it in, it asked if I wanted to update the OS on it. I made the mistake of saying yes. It then made a backup of the empty factory settings from the new replacement and restored from that rahter than the backup I made before going to the store. Yes I know I should have said no and just did the restore which would have resotred my previous backup that I made before going to the store. Then after everything would be allright I could have told it to update the OS.
You can slap my in the face or I will do it myslef for making such a stupid mistake. All ready did the "I should have had a V" thing to my forehead.
After seeing the restore was fromthe factory settings rather than my earlier good backup, I went into my documents and drilled down to the mobile sync backup and saw that one of the three folders (with giberish as a title) has a lot of information with the date and time I did the backup before going to the store.
Could I possibly delete the later (factory setting backup) folder and then do a restore to get my good backup onto the iphone? I didn't do that yet in fear that it might mess something else up on the iphone and I wanted to check with you experts here first for guidance and assistance, PLEASE?

Can you help me to get it to the standard iphone screen and there I will make sure the selected items are checked and do a sync.

The "Backup" do not store your Applications, Music, Video's. It saves your settings, your application preferences, etc.

I just got a new used iPod nano 6th gen and I registered it, but it will not sync. I had an exsisting iPod nano that I no longer have, but I do have itunes on my computer. When I try and sync it, it flashes 'syncing' then stops. Help please!

The ! sign before the song means that the actual song is no longer on your computer and/or iTunes library.

I have been trying to get legitimate assistance for my high speed Internet that went down yesterday right in the middle of a final I was taking for school. However after hours of tech support trouble shooting and being hung up on to the hour plus I waited on hold today, I have yet to speak with anyone who can tell me why nobody seems to care about my lack of a connection. I was told the issue is not with my house and is a Verizon field issue but nobody is available to fix this. How is that possible?! It is absurd that I am on day 2 of no Internet when I work from home and go to school online. The amount of data I am using just to post this message is probably absurd. I really need to speak with some sort of management and can't understand why this is such a problem. Can someone please give me a number or email address to someone who can actually help me?!

I was facing issues with both backup and FB integration after the iOs 6 upgrade. Before then I did not have any issues with the iCloud backup service, but after a few days, I noticed that it was continually stuck at the Estimating time for the backup and it never progressed.
As any good techie would, I tackled the most pressing issue first . . . FB integration of course.
I had read in a separate post about this solution so tried it . . .
I deleted the original FB app and hard booted the phone. I then went into settings and entered the data for FB integration. Seconds later, I received a text message to my phone - already listed and verified in FB with a 6 digit code to re-enter instead of my password. Seconds later I was verified and then prompted to download the FB app. All backup and integrated.
Then I went into the iCloud backup, turned it off . . . and deleted the last backup. I then re-enabled backup . . . and although I thought I was going to face the same issue, after a few minutes, it moved on from Estimating time . . . to actually backing up. It is now a small way through the backup and seems to estimate that it will take another two hours to complete.
A good nights work. Backup and integration all sewed up. Good luck.

Can you confirm which Camera Raw PSE 12 is actually using by loading the editor and going to Help -> About Plug-in -> Camera Raw.
If you do Help -> Updates it may install the latest camera raw of 8.4 - not on XP or Vista systems.
Do you use any Nikon software to download the images? The older versions have been known to corrupt the files.

Apps for OSX aren't in iTunes: they are in the App Store in your Applications folder. The payment method is the one registered in iTunes. There's no app actually called Yoga Studio, though there are several Yoga apps. There is an iOS app called Yoga Studio but it appears to have no OSX equivalent, though I haven't done a detailed search.

IPod Nano 6th gen won't sync - help please!

I lost my iTunes and all my music when my laptop died, but managed somehow to get it all back onto my new laptop - none of my music is purchased though iTunes but downloaded separately or from CDs. However when I sync my iPod it doesn't actually change anything or add new songs from my iTunes, and playlists on my iPod do not appear in my iTunes. Help please! I've tried manually managing my music and syncing but that doesn't work either, and when I plugging it into my computer it says on the iPod screen that its syncing but it doesn't show that it is in iTunes.

Help please deploying Crystal Decisions 10 to Microsoft 2008 R2 IIS 7

Folks, I need your help please. We've been using Crystal Decisions 10 with MS Server 2003. We're migrating to a VM envirionment with MS Server 2008 R2. I have everything working except for our crystal reports. We are a mostly an ASP Classic enviroment.
When the report is called it opens, the SP query does not fail but the data does not show in the activex viewer. If there is a tree view associated with the report, you can see the expandable data points on the left but the report does not actually appear. No errors are apparent either.
This thing is killing my production. Any help would be greatly appreaciated!

I really doubt that you will ever get this working. As Sastry mentioned, CR 10 did not support MS Server 2008 R2. The only version of CR (using classic ASP) to support anything close (WIN 7) was CR XI R2 (v. 11.5.x), Service Pack 6. See the following wiki for more details:

For CR XI R2 SP 6 and WIN 7 I wrote a small blog - essentially collating info reported by customers on how to get ASP working - on WIN 7 (sometimes this works, other times...). See:

Please note that both CR 10.x and 11.5.x are out of support (have been for years). My recommendation, understanding that porting the app to more recent versions of CR and either the .NET or Java SDK is not possible:
Update to CR XI R2 and keep your fingers crossed. Your chances of getting this to work CR 10 are pretty well zero. Your chance of getting this to work with CR XI R2 SP 6 are better, but still approaching zero. You may be able to obtain CR XI R2 by calling sales (866-681-3435) or check the Worldwide Office Locations | SAP.
Last note. If you do manage to get CR XI R2, please so keep in mind that:
1) CR XI R2 is no longer supported.
2) You will be using CR XI R2 in an unsupported environment (Server 2008).

OK On iphone 4s, I used winzip to extract a .jar file but I am unable to open and use the actual file.
This was expensive purchase and this is a time issue.

You can't, .jar is a Java archive, iOS doesn't have a java virtual machine.

Excel sumifs and the powerpivot version help please

very new to power pivot, can you help please?
In an excel table I was able to do the following...
=SUMIFS([GWP],[Date],[@Date],[PolType],[@PolType])
I have 60k rows where the above totals all GWP where the date & policy type match the individual record. This in effect gives a subtotal, per date per policy type rather than doing it in a pivot table. This works
nicely however it takes for ages to update, and calculate, also has issues when I then need to pivot table it.
As a result I'm trying to use powerpivot, as I understand it is better at dealing with these big calculations, I've tried the calculate formula, but I cannot understand how to have a rolling criteria in the field. Like I can in my sumifs.

To duplicate your original SUMIF as a Calculated Column in PowerPivot you could use one of the following:
Using EARLIER():
=CALCULATE(
SUM(Table1[GWP]),
FILTER(
Table1,
Table1[Date] = EARLIER(Table1[Date]) &&
Table1[PolType] = EARLIER(Table1[PolType])
Using ALLEXCEPT:
=CALCULATE(
SUM(Table1[GWP]),
ALLEXCEPT(
Table1,
Table1[Date],
Table1[PolType]
Both should produce the same result as a Calculated Column.
The second version with ALLEXCEPT() should also work a Measure/Calculated Field:
ALLEXCEPT Measure:=
CALCULATE(
SUM(Table1[GWP]),
ALLEXCEPT(
Table1,
Table1[Date],
Table1[PolType]
The advantage of the measure is that it should return the expected result in a pivot and filtering dynamically.
Your final measure would then be:
Percent GWP:=
SUM(Table1[GWP])/[ALLEXCEPT Measure]
In all examples, replace 'Table1' with your actual table name in Power Pivot.
