  • Lenovo U400 Windows doesn't bootup/startup

I purchased a Lenovo U400 4 months ago. It has not been booting up properly for the past 4-5 days. Initially, it says windows failed to boot up , gives options to launch startup repair or start windows normally. When you press either option. tt says Windows encountered an error and the error code's 0xc00000e9. One cannot proceed any further. Just exit and go back to Lenovo screen.
If I click F12, and go into advanced boot options, choose SSD , then choose start windows normally, then it boots up, and windows works just fine. There's absolutely no issue with speed or performance,  whatsoever. I haven't done any serious changes to my system, nor have I installed any crapware into it. Previously when this happened, a fresh reinstallation using Lenovo One key recovery helped. This doesn't seem like a permanent option though.
    Help! What should I do?

Actually the error that you are facing is generally related to corrupt registry. The below link will explain better about the error.
    http://0xc00000e9.wordpress.com/2012/05/28/fix-0xc00000e9-errors-on-your-pc/
What i suspect here is that some specific program is responsible for this error that you have installed after doing one key recovery. Or the factory pre installed os itself has corrupt regesteries.

  • Windows boot error 0xc00000e9, 0xc0000098 in Lenovo U400

I've been getting boot error in my 8 month old Lenovo U400. No changes were done in hardware or software. It says bootbcd file is missing. Doesn't boot through hardware, but boots just well when I go to advanced boot menu and select the SSD option. The functioning of the laptop seems to be just as good, fast and there's no problem whatsoever after I boot through this. Then why doesn't it boot normally? Why does it say it could not find a valid OS entry??
I tried resettting the boot file. During the process I noticed that the partition with the OS is marked hidden and is a RAW partition, rather than NTFS. Since this error, I haven't been able to use Lenovo one key recovery either. I have never reinstalled/formatted a system with SSD, and am not quite sure if a clean reinstallation of Win OS would help.
    What should I do?

The moment you selected your drive to boot from start pressing F8 button, it should show you some extra boot options, where should be a repair option. Go there, it might ask you login, then there will be option to fix startup problems.

  • IPhone 4S (6.1.3) is not editable in iTunes 11.0.4.4 on my Windows 8 Lenovo

My iPhone 4S (6.1.3) is not editable in iTunes 11.0.4.4 on my Windows 8 Lenovo (I can't delete songs or the ever-duplicating voice-memos. The only options it gives me are Play "whatever", Get Info, and Show on Playlist) but I can do it with my iPod Touch and my iPad 2 on that computer. Also my iPhone can be edited on my old Windows Vista laptop but whenever I plug it in there it starts syncing and taking away massive amounts of disk space on my iPhone, either adding outdated apps that I had deleted on the Lenovo with Win8 (I can delete apps in the Win8 iTunes and pull off pictures in Windows Explorer, it's just everything under "On This iPhone" tab like music and movies that's locked) or duplicating voice memos. Any ideas on how to help me solve this?
    Thanks!

  • Windows 10 Lenovo Settings not detecting battery in Edge 15

Upgraded to Windows 10 on July 30th. No problems. My battery was showing up in conservation mode at 60% and not charging (I always use laptop plugged in). This was the setting in Windows 8.1 and still in Windows 10.  All okay until tonight.
Tonight my battery is showing 100% charged and it's no longer in conservation mode. I opened the new Lenovo Settings for Windows 10 and clicked on Power. It is showing “No Battery Installed.” I unplugged the laptop and it is running just fine on the battery.  I want to put it back in conservation mode but I cannot because Windows 10 Lenovo Settings isn’t detecting the battery even though it is working fine. This article explains what I should be seeing: http://www.improdia.com/tech-tips/lenovo-battery-conservation-windows-10/, I don’t know how to solve this problem and would appreciate any help. Thanks.

    Hi Chaka,
    Welcome to Sony Community!
Have you watched those local Canadian TV online before upgrading the operating system? This is probably one of the issues of Windows 10 but I cannot confirm that yet since Sony is still testing Vaio computer and updating the drivers and software for Windows 10.
You may try to use a different computer and check if you'll get the same result. If the same then probably the issue is with the website itself.
You may also run Vaio update and Windows update then try to change again the region.

  • Lenovo u400 speakers not working

my Lenovo u400 built-in speakers worked when I first got it, but after about two weeks, they didn't work. I have tried reinstalling the driver,(but every time it automatically installs after rebooting-could that be the problem?), still no luck. In the SRS Premium Sound panel, I can click on speaker and headphones, but I cannot select built-in speakers.could it be a hardware malfunction? loose connection?
    Pleasehelp - thankyou

    Hey everyone,
I had the same problem. I had inserted the headphone into the jackpot several times and after 30 sec or so, speakers came back to life . I think this somehow related to the jackpot malfunctioning. Try it if you're running to the same problem!
    cheers

  • Lenovo U400 Battery Replacement Warning

    Hello again,
I'm using a brand new Lenovo U400 which I got almost like a week ago. After several days of using it, upon starting, Lenovo Energy Management started saying "The full capacity of the battery you are using is only about the 40% that of a new one. We recommend you to replace the old battery with a new one..."
What does it mean? I have only used this laptop for like 5 hours less...

    Hi Yigit,
Sorry to bother you, but I just requested an RMA from the reseller. Would you suggest any tips on how to clean install Lenovo U400? The problem is. I did some upgrade from my laptop just the harddrive though. Upon clean installing win 7 pro and the drivers on the new hard drive that Lenovo battery replacement sign pops out everytime I start the pc on battery mode. When I put back the old drive, the drive with preinstalled win 7 Home and drivers the battery replacement warning didnt pop at all even running on battery. Anyways, I wasted too much time on this so I just requested an RMA since it's still on its return period. But yeah do you think there is something wrong with program Lenovo Energy management that is? or is there like a special way on how the drivers should be installed first and what not upon using a new hard drive? Thanks again!

  • Lenovo U400 with Ubuntu 14.04 overheating with fan being idle

I've had Ubuntu 14.04 on my Lenovo U400 laptop for a year or so and everything was fine. Suddenly yesterday I noticed when I was working on it, that it was running really hot, almost burning my left palm. It's been quite hot in my area for a couple of days so this might have triggered the temperature, I thought. However what surprised me was that the fan was really slow. In the past it used to spin really fast whenever the computer was heating too much. I installed `lm-sensors` according to the Ubuntu manual. Here is the output of sensors-detect.This is the output at normal load: szymon@lenovo:~$ sensors
    acpitz-virtual-0
    Adapter: Virtual device
    temp1: +75.0°C (crit = +98.0°C)
    temp2: +67.0°C (crit = +126.0°C)
    coretemp-isa-0000
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    Physical id 0: +78.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
    Core 0: +78.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
    Core 1: +74.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
    radeon-pci-0100
    Adapter: PCI adapter
temp1: N/A (crit = +120.0°C, hyst = +90.0°C) However, right after booting up, the results are more alarming: szymon@lenovo:~$ sensors
    acpitz-virtual-0
    Adapter: Virtual device
    temp1: +94.0°C (crit = +98.0°C)
    temp2: +75.0°C (crit = +126.0°C)
    coretemp-isa-0000
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    Physical id 0: +94.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
    Core 0: +94.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
    Core 1: +92.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
    radeon-pci-0100
    Adapter: PCI adapter
temp1: N/A (crit = +120.0°C, hyst = +90.0°C) Also when I boot up Intellij Idea and Tomcat (this was no problem previously, but the fan was spinning) these are the results and the fan is idle: szymon@lenovo:~$ sensors
    acpitz-virtual-0
    Adapter: Virtual device
    temp1: +95.0°C (crit = +98.0°C)
    temp2: +77.0°C (crit = +126.0°C)
    coretemp-isa-0000
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    Physical id 0: +96.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
    Core 0: +96.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
    Core 1: +95.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
    radeon-pci-0100
    Adapter: PCI adapter
    temp1: N/A (crit = +120.0°C, hyst = +90.0°C)
This sounded quite alarming to me, so I tried to figure out how to control the fan manually to make it spin faster. I found no such option in BIOS. Then I installed `fancontrol` also according to the manual. Unfortunately, when running `sudo pwmconfig` I got the following error: /usr/sbin/pwmconfig: There are no pwm-capable sensor modules installed I tried fixing it with this hack, which consisted of adding `acpi_enforce_resources=lax` to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT. It didn't work, nothing changed when running `sudo pwmconfig` after updating grub and rebooting. I also tried to turn off the switchable AMD graphics following these instructions, but it didn't reduce the temperatures. Do you have any idea on why the fan isn't spinning faster at such temperatures or how to control it manually?

Did you get a kernel update recently?

  • Drivers issue for Lenovo u400 after upgrading to Windows 8

I recently upgraded to windows 8 an after that facing driver issue for ATI Radeon graphic card and wifi, and also cypress trackpad  software is not working. All the supported drivers provided by Lenovo for windows 8 are fake and none of them are working. I even tried to search for drivers for graphic card from AMD website but unable to find any suitable drivers.
And to my surprise when i called lenovo technical support for help, the representative told that no such upgradation is possible for older system, but in Lenovo wesite it is clearly mentioned that upgradion is possible and they are provinding windows 8 drivers for this model which does not works at all :-(
Kindly some one suggest some workaround for this issue.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I had the same problems with the Cypress driver after upgrading to Windows. Based on I did I downloaded the Windows 8 driver for the Ideapad U300s and it works GREAT. There were no compatibility issues, shows up in Device Manager etc. It also has and icon on the task bar that responds to the F6 key for disabling. Best yet this driver has a Palm Rejection tab. I set it for heavy and no wild pointer movements so I find I now keep the trackpad enabled. NOTE: the file name of the driver I downloaded and installed is: Ogt102w8. Hope this helps you and can't figure out why Lenovo has a driver listed for the U400 that does not work while this driver works great.

  • Bluetooth not working in windows 7 however it is working in window XP - Lenovo R61

I have two operating system installed in my lenovo R61 laptop window xp and window 7 in different drives. Bluetooth driver is working fine on pressing Fn+F5 key in  windows xp but in window7 bluetooth is not working and on pressing Fn+F5 key, nothing happens. I have also tried to install ''Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II'' driver with ''README for Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II''  txt file but it doesn't let me install and give me this message:
No Bluetooh device was detected. Please make sure that your Bluetooth device is plugged in properly in order to continue installation.
So, Please suggest me any solution if anybody have.

    Hi Vipin,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that Bluetooth device is not working on ThinkPad R61.
To resolve the issue please right click on computer and go to manage, in device manger check if there is any yellow mark in any of the adapter in it.
If it is showing any yellow mark then not all the drivers are installed in your system.
If there is no yellow mark, then you can check with installing Lenovo power manager application and restart the system.
After restarting the system press Fn+F5 to enable the Bluetooth device.
Below is the link to enter the downloads page and download updates accordingly, please click on "Select Product" then in "QUICK PATH" enter the MTM no. select the exact model.
