Acute accent marks on the Blackberry Bold?

Hi, does anyone know how to make acute accent marks on the Bold? I know that if you hold down a letter and roll the clickwheel you can get different characters but for every letter (except the "e" ) it only has the grave accents and not the acute accents. That is, I can get the following: à è ì ò ù but I cannot get á í ó ú (although the é does show up).
You might think this is unimportant but in Spanish we only use the acute (´) accent marks and not the other kind and it would look very unprofessional of me to write an email with the wrong kind of accent or without accents at all.
There should be a way to find it because the spellcheck has options for words with the correct accent marks. I can't use the spellcheck always though because sometimes a word will have 2 different meanings, one with an accent and one without an accent but they are both correct.
Please help I am so lost!

Are you noticing this in emails AND in SMS, or simply in SMS?
When I write an email, I have no problems writing the acute accent on the "i" in "Ana-María" when I roll the ball while holding down the "i".
However, my Options->SMS Text->Data Coding setting is "7 bit", as per my provider, Rogers. At that point, the acute accent is NOT available on the "i", but is still available on the "e". The acute accent on the "i" becomes available to me in SMS Text if I set the Data Coding to "UCS2".
I hope that this was of assistance to you, and don't hesitate to click on "Kudos" if this answer satisfies you.

Is it possible to get the 7.0 operating system for the Blackberry Bold 9650?

Sorry. 6.0 is the highest you can go on the 9650. You could load a hybrid OS that has 7.0 enhancements, but in the end it is still a 6.0 OS.

  • No accent marks on the new safari

I am using the european portuguese on my iMac, and now I cannot add accent marks to characters in safari. I have the keyboard Viewer on, but nothing happens?! I just need to put and accent on a "E"... Any help? Thanks!

You can disable it and see if the old option key method works.
    1. Open Terminal.
    2.  Terminal command copy and paste:
defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool false
    3. Log out of your account for the change to take affect.
If you want this functionality back,  execute the following Terminal & log out.
defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool true

  • Syncronization Fails On the Blackberry Bold

This is the 2nd time this has happen. The last time it happen I was trying any and everything. I thought I had a solution when I pulled the USB out of the device in the middle of the sync and it started working again, but this time that is not even working.
When I try to sync my calendar on my device it fails. Here is the information I have gathered so far.
THe error message comes from Intellisync and only says:
    "The operation terminated unexpectedly"
It happens when it's reading the Calendar on the desktop. It makes it through the reading on the device.
The PT trace file says the following:
Mon Mar 02 15:58:20 2009: Error Bad Field Flag in Recur Blob 0x6c00.0 at .\ms_recur.cpp line 1836
I've reloaded from scratch several times. I've changed from 4.5 to 4.7 and back to 4.5. I've turn off the device taken out the battery.
I'm running Windows XP Professional SP2
    I'm running MS Office 2007
    My device is AT&T Bold

GPS capabilities depend on your wireless provider service.
For the first - you need a subscription to data plan. It is necessary to allow device connect via internet to blackberry maps site and download maps to show you on the screen.
The second point - contact your service provider and clarify situation with GPS support in your subscription. It is up to your wireless provider to enable GPS for your device.

  • Blackberry Bold 9650 versus the Tour Bluetooth Volume

I had the Tour and the trackball broke.
It was replaced with a Bold 9650.
I was using a Blueant speakerphone.
Volume was loud with the Tour.
I would say its barely adequate with the Bold.
When OS 6 came out, I installed it after about a month.
It  caused a problem with a work program and I downgraded it. (Yes the volume on Bluetooth was awful with OS 5 and 6 I downgraded the software 05-06-11)
It's now Platform Version: 4.2.0.424 and Application Version: 5.0.0.975.
If I pair any bluetooth device to it, the volume sucks.
If I then pair the same device to any other bluetooth phone a friend has that is not my Bold, it works good, the way it did with the Tour I had.
    Enhanced Audio does doodly squat.
Bass Boost, Treble Boost is the same expectation "let down".
Changing the Media Options for louder volume does not do anything for my bluetooth call volume.
I don't understand why any other bluetooth phone or my previous Tour had/have such a louder sound than this Bold.

  • Blackberry Bold 9900 / Enterprise Activation

Thank you in advance for your help with this matter.
I have purchased the Blackberry bold 9900 smart phone couple of days ago.
Not an expert myself but expected better from our own IT Dept…seems that they need help themselves.
Not certain how to find enterprise activation icon on blackberry 9900 bold.  Usually this is what I do:
    Options>>device>>advanced System Setting>>Enterprise setting.
For some odd reason…enterprise setting is not there.  It is not also under set up…just the web based emails setting.
I have tried the wipe out but nothing changed.
Would be grateful if someone could be kind please to tell me what to do.
Thanks so much for your time.

You can dowload the Enterprise activation App from the below link, but make sure that the your number has the proper data plan, and the device registered  with your carrier.

  • Blackberry Bold Not Compatible With Golf Program

I Recently purchased a Blackberry Bold because I was excited by all the features offered. I Am So Very Disappointed By The Fact That I Can Download But A Can Not Use The Program I Purchased By GOLFLIX.com Which Features A GPS For Golfers. I mainly upgraded to the Blackberry Bold Mainly For The Ability To Use This Product.  There Are Hundreds of Golfers Out There That Would Probably Switch To Verizon If This Product Was Available.
Does anyone out there know of a Golf GPS Program that is downloaded to the Verizon Blackberry Bold?

Try a reset on your Playbook (touch the battery icon > restart).

  • Blackberry Bold Media Card Backup

I'm new to the Blackberry (Bold 9650), so I might be missing what I've been looking for.  Most of the time, when I start, and particularly reboot my device, it always comes up with the message saying that the new media card has errors and asks if I want to correct the errors.  Then it asks me if I want to save lost clusters.
A service tech told me to back up my data card to the computer and then reformat my card.
    Questions:
    1.     Is the data card and the media card the same?
    2.     Will all data, including video and pictures be saved?
    3.     How do I save it to the computer?
    4.     This is a brand new phone with card.  Why is it damaged?
Thank you for any advice and help you can give.

    Questions:
    1.     Is the data card and the media card the same? Yes, the two names are referring to the same thing.
    2.     Will all data, including video and pictures be saved? That depends on how much damage there is to the card, if there is any.  Correct errors, save lost clusters....sounds like a bad card.  Data may or may not be recoverable, and all you can do is try.
    3.     How do I save it to the computer? You'll need a slot on your computer or a card reader, and if it is a micro SD, you'll need an adapter to fit it into the computer slot or card reader.  My micro SD came with an adapter - you can find them at places like Office Max, Staples, Best Buy, etc.  Put the card in the slot and read it like any other drive - copy everything on the card to a folder on your computer.  Then you can reformat the card, "fix" any errors, and try to recopy the information back to the card.  Me?  I'd spend another $10 and get a new card.
    4.     This is a brand new phone with card.  Why is it damaged?   It happens. The cards are so tiny, and delicate, they get damaged easily.  If the phopne came with the card already installed, it may be under warranty and you can get it replaced at the store where you got the phone.  Do the backup of all your information on the card, then take it in and see if they will replace the card.

  • Blackberry Bold-9700 Challenging N900 !!

    Hi Guys,
I for one very strongly believe for a Audio-Visual product maybe also like a Cellphone the display has to be really good especially if you are also gonna use it as an entertainment device. So on the same lines I was having this discussion which later on turned out into an argument with one of my friend.
Now he has a Blackberry-Bold 9700 which has a Transmissive TFT LCD, Which comes with a Light sensing screen and Backlighting. He was saying that the display of Blackberry Bold 9700 is better then that of the N900. Though the pixel ratio of the N900(800x480) could be higher than that of the Bold (480x360). He said that please do not boast about the high pixel ratio and the 3.5 inch screen real estate it could be all futile if it is not able to produce that quality pictures, with the Transmissive TFT LCD and the Backlighting the display of the BB Bold look a lot richer and lively then the N900. When I looked at it though I kind of felt no the N900 had a better display. But frankly speaking I couldn’t really decide, what he was saying also did make sense as the picture in the Bold looked very lively?
What do you guys think? Does the Transmissive TFT LCD, Light sensing screen, backlighting makes the Blackberry Bold 9700 have a better display than that of the N900. This despite being a N900 forum I expect unbiased observations from Die-Hard Fans of the N900 who also equally appreciate a quality product from a competitor if it truly deserves some admiration and appreciation

this is laughable...cant believe that anyone who understand the visibliiyt rations woule eveer prefer a device to NOT have 2.5 times the pixels and visiblity!!
the n900 has 2.5 times the visibility of the bold.  the bold has the same resolution the iphoney has had until this year.  it only looks vibrant because of the colors and icon-styling.  the visibliliyt and clarity is no where near the same.

  • CANNOT SYNC BLACKBERRY BOLD TO BLACKBERRY Z 10

Have been using Blackberry Bold for many years and regulalry backing it up. Purchased Z10 and cannot back up my contacts. Blackberry Link does not recognise old phone. Please help.

    Hi Mazahir,
Are you trying to do a regular backup or a device switch? This link should provide more information on the device switch process. http://ca.blackberry.com/support/transferring-to-bb10-device/personal.html
Do you still have the BlackBerry Desktop Software installed? If so, is it able to detect the connected BlackBerry smartphone? Do you have a recently taken backup file of the BlackBerry Bold smartphone?
    Thanks,

  • Accent marks in meta tags

    Hi all
I have a site with iso-8859-1 characterset defined. There are
foreign characters in the content text. Do I have to use the
original foreign characters (ie accent marks) in the meta tags and
title, or is it advisable to use their codes instead?
    Thank you

    Any help on this, guys?
Is it more effective to use the original foreign characters
(ie accent marks) in the meta tags, or is it more advisable to use
    their codes instead?

  • I cannot type accent marks in firefox 4

    Firefox 4, Mac OX 10.6.7
I Firefox 3 I could type an accent mark using the US keyboard by
pressing the option key. For example to type é, I would type option e followed by e.
Now in Firefox 4,the only way to type the accent marks is to use the French keyboard. Is there a fix for this or is this a bug in Firefox 4?

Such a composition of characters is usually handled by the OS and Firefox shouldn't have effect on it.

  • BlackBerry Bold on MacBook?

Hi, i am looking into purchasing a BlackBerry Bold.  The problem is, I have a MacBook and from what I can see, no one can really sync them together.
Does the BlackBerry Bold not work like the iPhone? Can i just add my MobileMe account to my Bold and let the Bold receive all my contacts, calendars, and emails?
I would like to put my iTunes library on it too since the Bold is such a media-rich device. What's the best way to do that? PocketMac or MediaSync for Mac?
If everything (contacts, calendars, email) can be pushed to the phone through the MobileMe cloud, is there really any point in syncing? Won't it do all that wirelessly through the cloud? BlackBerry ==> Mac and Mac ==> BlackBerry?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Blackberry Curve 3G vs. Blackberry Bold 9650

My upgrade is in 26 days. I would like Pros and Cons of both, what the difference is between the two and why one of them would be better than the other.  It’s a tough decision and I would like to make the best choice for me, seeing as how I will have this phone for the next 2 years and I don’t want to spend several hours in the Verizon store figuring out everything at the last minute. I know the Blackberry Bold is on the higher end of the blackberry spectrum. Thank you all so much

    Hi,
A few months ago, I posted my thoughts on the Bold 9650 in the thread http://community.vzw.com/t5/BlackBerry-Devices/Tour-and-the-Bold-Compared/td-p/211580  I have had the Bold now for about 3 months and I love everything about it.  The large memory allows for more storage.  Actually, both devices have great, similar features, however, the Curve 3G is made of cheaper materials.  You can tell the difference by picking up both devices.  Because of the cheaper materials, the Curve 3G is cheaper in price.  Both have WiFi, and if you have been reading these forums over the past few weeks, a lot of people are taking advantage of the cheaper $15 dollar data plan.  I hate that fact for some of the Tour owners who don't have WiFi available on their devices.  But back to your question, I would go for the Bold, simply because it is a higher quality device and you will get your money's worth after you use it.  My advice would be to go down to one of the Verizon stores and play with both of the devices to get a feel for it.  The Bold has a higher quality screen resolution, too.  You will notice that when you pick up both devices.  Good luck,
    Doc
