"ad hoc" audio setting?

I've lost the "ad hoc" audio setting, very important in the old version. Now I can't find it: incredible! Can you help me?

I'm talking about iMovie.

  • FCP 7.0.3 Easy Setup audio setting issues

I have created two custom Easy Setups.
    SD:     DVCPro50 PAL with audio set @ 48.000 kHz, 16-bit, 16 chan
    HD:     DVCProHD 1080i 25fps with audio set @ 48.000kHz, 24-bit, 16 chan
I open FCP, load the SD easy setup.  I then click on Audio/Video settings.
Select "Audio/Video Settings" and view "Capture Presets Summary"
         - Audio format is listed as 48.000 kHz 16-bit 16-chan
Select"Edit" and "Capture Preset Editor" comes up.
         - UnderQuicktime Audio Settings:
              - Device:  AJA Kona 3
              - Format:  48.000 kHz 16-bit 16-chan
If I then select the HD Easy Setup, and then "Audio/Video Settings"
Select"Edit" and "Capture Preset Editor" comes up.
         - UnderQuicktime Audio Settings:
              - Device:  AJA Kona 3
              - Format:  48.000 kHz 16-bit 16-chan (THIS SHOULD BE 24-bit)
    Select the "A\V Device" tab:
The audio device has defaulted to the 16 bit setting as well.
It appears that FCP or AJA is keeping the audio bitrate from the previous Easy Setup.
Even if we close FCP completely, and reopen into a new project, load the HD Easy Setup, the bit rate still shows as 16.
I have tried deleting the following:
    apple.finalcutpro.plist
    Final Cut User Data Folder
    Thanks,
    Mike

The camera definitely recorded in SP, that icon was visible on the viewfinder...
What settings should i be using in FCP to capture the video? From attempted research i found most comments suggesting to use a basic Firewire settings. i have used this in PAL format but the results are poor.
One thing I am confused about is the 32khz or 48khz settings. Which should i be using? I have an older version of FCE 4 where there are many settings for both 32khz and 48khz for DV FireWire but in FCP7 there are only options for 48khz.
Any advice would be welcomed at the moment.
I am also willing to upload clips of what I have to demonstrate visually the poor quality video I am capturing from the Canon

  • How does Core Audio set sample rate?

When I play a particular movie in QuickTime, the audio and video are out of sync. The movie plays fine on other computers.
This Mac Pro (OS 10.6.8) is used exclusively for Pro Tools and Final Cut Pro. The audio hardware is a Pro Tools HD Native card:
Native card --> Pro Tools Digital I/O boxes --> Lavry D/A converters --> monitors
The sample rate of the Digital I/O boxes is set by an external master clock, a Lavry Gold A/D converter.
I opened the DigiDesign Core Audio Manager and it says:
    Connected @ 44.1K, 32 In/32 Out, Buffer Size 512
Yet the movie is at 48K (I know because I created it in Final Cut Pro), and the external clock is set at 48K. So, I don't know where the 41K in the Digidesign Core Audio Manager came from. This is why I am guessing the problem is sample rate.
Please help me understand what sets the sample rate.
Does the application using Core Audio set it?
If so, how is this made consistent with the sample rate set for the hardware by the external master clock?
Do I have to be sure I always change the external clock setting to be consistent with the movie being played?
BTW, I have not had a sync problem when I play video in Final Cut Pro..........it is always in sync. So, I have never worried about how Core Audio works. The sync problem is only with QuickTime.

    Well, here is more information:
    - I reinstalled QuickTime 7 and did many other things (trashed preferences, etc)
    - I set the audio hardware (Pro Tools/HD Native card) to 48k
    - I checked the Digi CoreAudio Manager and it said "Connected at 44.1K", even though the hardware was set to 48K
    - I played the problem videos, and all are now in sync
    - I check the Digi CoreAudio Manager and it still says 44.1K
    - I checked the hardware and it is now set to 44.1K
I know that the videos are 48K, because I created them in Final Cut Pro X.
Does this mean that QuickTime 7 always converts videos to 44.1K, regardless of their sample rate?

  • Which Audio Setting for MPEG share for use on PC or burning to DVD???

I just "shared" a movie (a slide and video show with soundtrack edited on Premier Elements 8)  to "Use for playback on this PC or burning to DVD"  (created an MPEG).  The audio export didn't work though.  I used the NTSC DVD Standard preset that gives the 192 kbps, 48 kHz, Dolby Digital audio setting.  Is this the setting I should use, or is there another audio setting that would work?  There is just silence on the end product.  Thanks for any help.

Now, are you burning to a DVD-data, or to a DVD-Video?
If the latter, then you can either Burn to Disc from PrE, or can Burn to Folder, and then use Roxio, Nero, or the great, free burning utility, ImgBurn to do the physical Burn.
Some time back, WMP had the DVD playability disabled for all burned DVD-Videos. Not sure if MS has added that back in. To the best of my knowledge, WMP has no burning capabilities in it, but could be wrong with the newest versions.
Hope someone else has ideas, and a better knowledge of most recent versions of WMP.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Audio setting option appears on New look Vsion

Has anyone else noticed this, if you disconnect your Broadband line from your New Look Vision box an Audio Setting box appears in Settings to set the S/PDIF output to Dolby 5:1 or Stereo. It promptly disappears when you re-connect your line.

When you click the first continue button, hold down the option key while clicking. It will then go to the manual setup where you can choose the type of account.
It is trying to use Exchange because that's what it thinks the email server is, based on what you entered as your email address.

  • Speech Audio Setting Effects Timing

I'm having a timing issue when using the speech setting in
    the audio settings.
If I use the "mp3" setting for the audio setting in the
publish dialogue, my narration (which is set to stream - not event,
so synch should stay tight), timing is just as I designed it.
However, if I set the audio setting to "speech" (in order to bring
the .swf file size down), the timing goes way astray. Nothing else
changes (the audio files are still set to stream, not event), and
yet the audio loses its critical timing.
Anyone else run into this problem, and more importantly, is
    there a fix?

I think you've stumbled over a bug, or at least a use case that nobody in the Captivate design team considered when they were working out how Effects should be applied and timed (how to time something when you don't know how long it will be displayed for).
Essentially what the Effects need is the equivalent of the setting on other objects to Display for Rest of Slide.  We need a way to Apply Effect for Duration of Object, regardless of what that duration might be.
You should log a Bug/Enhancement request for this.

  • Captivate audio setting

    Hi!
Can someone give me some guidance as to what settings I
should use for the following in order to have good audio quality in
recording without having the sound file size be too large :
    Captivate audio setting:
    Encoding Bitrate?
    Encoding Frequency?
    Encoding Speed?
I have no audio experience and am planning my recording via a
    microphone. Many thanks!

    Hello DesignerVA2007
    Welcome the community
I do not know if any world agrees, but I publicom with exit
of of Bitrate in Near Cd Bitrate (96 kbps) and in Encoding
Frequency I put to 22.050 KHz.
My opinion is the next one will go away to turn road Internet
it will take when it very much took care with the size not to
become an exaggerated archive weighed for the user, for a good
training make different tests of exit until it finds a manageable
bo of publishing in the web without big much, now it will be going
to be turned in CD-Rom oh to be careful only with space limit of
    the cd :)

  • Won't recapture with new audio setting

when i initially captured some of my clips in FCP 4, i made the mistake of using the audio setting "mono mix".
since then, i've upgraded to FCP 5. i've also finished the project. now, i'd like to go back and recapture the clips, setting the audio to the proper setting of 2 separate mono tracks, the way it should have been in the first place.
i should note that "mono mix" did not result in one mixed down track; it captured two tracks of audio in a stereo pair, listed in the browser as "1V, 2A" with "1 stereo" but i suspect it mixed them in a weird way because they sound quite low and muddy.
in any case, i've been trying to recapture with a new audio setting. however, nothing seems to work. i've tried making all the clips offline, changing their settings with "modify", then recapturing with the audio toggled to 2 mono tracks... it still comes in as "1 stereo" pair. i've tried the other way, setting the log & capture settings to 2 mono, unchecking the "use current clips settings" box... it comes in "1 stereo". i've tried trashing preferences and redoing the above. i've tried putting the clips in a different project.
    any suggestions? thanks.

apparently when you capture in "mono mix" it captures 2 tracks, but makes them identical mixes. so you lose all the phasing and mixing from the field and wind up with two dullish tracks. to unlink them wouldn't change this.
however, i think i figured out a way through a post on creative cow -- i exported a batch list of the offending clips and opened this in Excel. then i went in and changed the audio track column manually, to "2 Mono", then imported the batch list back into FCP. then recaptured using these new clip settings.
seems to work! (knock on wood).

  • Changing audio setting

Is is possible to change all the audio in a Captivate project to FM quality? I need to do this to slide audio as well as background audio that is already in the project. If it is possible, how would I go about doing that?

OK, so when you publish your project,  as a result of the compression that takes place during the publish process, you are going to lose some (any idea how much ? ) of the sound quality - no matter what your original recoding was done at - right ?
So if I want want my published project to have a sound quality of Nr CD (96 kbps) - I should set the recording prior to publishing to 128 kbps in order that I can later on get down to 96 kbps.
One last question...having recorded my project prior to publishing at 128 kbps, what steps do I have to take when publishing it, in order to ensure the published project comes out at 96 kbps ?

  • Audio Set up

I just purchased the ATV and hooked it up to my sharp 52" LCD TV; All went well, except the audio is coming out of the TV speakers ; I would like sound to come out of the JVC home theater speakers; The ATV is connected to the TV via the HDMI cable; Is there a different way to set up the ATV to accomplish this?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks.

if your home theater amp has HDMI switching then you can't connect HDMI to the amp then from the amp to the TV.
if not then you need to do as Totem describes and keep the TV connected as is connect the optical/digital out (will allow you to get Dolby Digital 5.1) or stereo RCA (red and white plugs)... stereo will only allow for stereo or Dolby ProLogic output. basically you need to connect some sort of audio cable from the appleTV to the amp to get the amp to output audio. and you need to mute the TV so that just the amp is doing the audio.

  • No sight or sound of my Korg Krome on my Audio set up - midi prob.

hi everybody. I've just bought this beautiful Gold Krome. I can't get my Mac ( OS X 10.7.5 ) to recognise it. It is connected by USB ( I tried Midi cables but no joy at all there) and I've opened Logic Pro 9. I can record visibly on Logic, and I can see the Krome on the Midi Studio on the Mac. I can hear what the Korg plays on the amp and speakers I've got coming out of the Krome but cannot hear the Krome on the Headphones in my computer. Logic has recorded the notes I've played but has not recorded the Sound of the Krome. I can't hear them when I play back the tracks with the Krome disconnected. Also the Krome does not appear on the Audio Devices page of the Mac. Does anyone know what I have to do to get it working properly, as it's sending me mad....
    Cheers in advance,
    Steverino

Well, I can't get it to work Pancenter. I connected with an iMac interface as a trial but still no sound from my Mac or from my M-Audio interface which I've tried connecting the Krome's Mono out cord to as well.
If you notice the audio devices above in my Screenshot, there is no sign of the Krome. Also on the midi studio there is no in and out black triangles  to connect cables to other devices like on all the other demonstrations I have seen on YouTube and Lynda.com. This maybe coz it's a newer instrument and you dont need it any more. However, on the Korg Krome properties there's a one way port system only. ie if I change to Sound internal it's port 1, and if I click keyboard internal it's port 1. In each case the other port will change back to Zero when I click on the other option. I do have the Software Monitoring  box ticked. Logics metronome is audible by the way.
I get it that you said Logic is independent of the Mac but why does everyone point out it's got to be seen on the audio devices panel?
Im thinking there might be some setting on the Krome which needs altering?

  • When opening Firefox there is an audio set of advertisements; I can't find where to stop the ad; I've downloaded. How do I get rid of this?

Opening Firefox immediately turns on an audio that contains a series of ads. I have removed the version on my computer and downloaded Firefox 5. It still happens. How did I get rid of the vocal advertisement? It does not happen when I use Safari.

Is that coming from your homepage? Have you tried resetting your homepage to see if those ads don't play? Or tried using about:blank as your homepage?

  • How can I adjust right and left pan audio setting on iPad mini?

Hi, I'd like to know if there is a way to set the each left and right volume of speakers by a "Pan" control on the iPad mini.
    Thanks in advance

Do a long click on the mono-stereo button of the audio track. From the flipmenu, choose L.
Copy the Region to another track.
From that other track's mono-stereo button flipmenu, choose R.
Voila, direct access to left and right channels.

  • Default Audio Setting

What happened to the default audio language setting? Can't find it under Preferences > Playback anymore.
I'm from Germany and i don't like german dubbed versions of movies, i prefer to watch them in English. A long time back i changed the default playback language and all movies i watched on itunes automatically played back in english.
Since 10.9 or iTunes 11 (cant tell for sure...) the setting has disappeared and i have to manually switch the language on every movie i start watching.
Has this setting been removed or is it an error?

Looks like it is removed, how ever you could watch the file with QuickTime as there is an option in QuickTime to select the language. Remember that iTunes is a data base manager and QuickTime is the engine that plays the various CODEC's.
Select the file in iTunes - control click and select 'show in Finder' - Select the file in the Finder and control click again 'Open with' select QuickTime - from the QuickTime menu bar select Vew>Languages - see if there are any other languages listed.
