Ad objects sync time

Hi,
what is the time of directory objects sync.
Is it 15 min default?
Example: multisite domain (10 DCs):
1. 5 users created on site 1
2  5 users created on site 2
3. they are added to a group on site 10
4. 5 computers from site 4 added as a group members of site 1
What is the sync time in the examples above?
Thanks.

Hi,
what is the time of directory objects sync.
Replication of AD Objects between domain controllers in a site is "Instant". However intersite replication (I mean replication between sites) depends on your configuration. I configured mine to be 60 minutes because I needed it that way. The default
is 180 minutes however.

Is it possible to sync time capsule data to a external hard drive connected to time capsule via usb. (as an precaution just incase time capsule fails)
    Thanks

Yes, if the USB drive has been previously formatted correctly in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format.
Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
    Click the Disks icon
Click the Disks tab below the icon
    Click Archive
Allow plenty of time for the copy process to occur. You will not be able to make Time Machine backups from your Mac until the Archive process has completed.

  • Need help with long sync times - busy optimizing unchanged pictures

Before the latest update I was having a problem with long sync times, often with time spent optimizing pictures that hadn't changed since the last sync. This morning I did the latest update and now it's going on hours updating. Again, optimizing >8000 pics, none of which have changed since yesterday's sync.
Any suggestions as to what to do? Thanks.

Yes I plug the IPOD into the USB port.  Today it is a little worse.  When I plug it in it will sync for a moment, pop the message that says IPOD IS  SYNCED TO ANOTHER COMPUTER DO YOU WANT TO SYNC TO THIS COMPUTER.  If I say yes it immediately says FILE NOT FOUND.  The whole page locks up and I have to shut the computer down and restart.
Sometimes it just recgonizes the named of the IPOD then immediatel disconnets it.  I am so frustrated with this POS and copy protection and all the other things Apple is doing to ensure there songs are not stolen.  It is a PAIN and now this...149.00 gone down the tube.

  • Placing the same object multiple times

Does anyone know how to place an object multiple times in either Illustrator or InDesign?  I have a small graphic that I would like to have repeated (probably hundreds of times) to create a background.  I could place it over and over (and over and over and over), but that would be way too labor intensive.
Is there a way to put it in like it is a self-replicating background?
    Thanks,
    John

A Symbol, by definition, is stored only once in the file. A Symbol Instance is just a reference. When an Instance is duplicated, only a reference is duplicated.
Evidently Transform Effect--albeit "live"--does not do the same. It actually does create multiple duplicates of the original. The duplicates are "linked" to the original so that if the original changes, the effect is reapplied on-the-fly in response--but it is applied (and the copies made) all the same. Copies of a Symbol Instance, however, are in and of themselves nothing but position/scale references to the original. So Transform Effect is replicating just those references.
I don't really find this surprising. Consider other so-called "live" effects. When you add multiple strokes and fills to a path, you are not just adding position/size references to the path; the added strokes and fills are, in fact, being created--regardless of the fact that they are recreated on-the-fly if you modify the path.
Same way with Pattern fills. The pattern is actually stepped-and-repeated enough times to fill the clipping path to which it is applied. If you reshape or resize the clipping path, the Pattern Fill gets re-built on-the-fly. But it still gets built all the same.
Apply a live Drop Shadow Effect. That raster image acutally gets created. Change the object to which it is applied, or change the parameters (like resolution) of the shadow, and the raster gets deleted and a new one gets created on-the-fly. But it still gets created, and exists in the file until and unless it is changed.
I think of "Expanding" a live effect as nothing more than breaking the "link" between all the extra created stuff (which is there) and the object to which it was applied. I don't think of all that extra stuff as "not existing yet." It exists. It's been drawn. You're just not allowed to manipulate it directly, because it is "linked" to the original so that it will be deleted and re-created if you edit the original. Breaking the link (Expanding) doesn't take long, becaues all that stuff is already created; it's not just a string of concise commands waiting to be created. It's already there. But make an edit to the original and it does take a long time to re-draw, because all the extra stuff now has to be re-created.
Do a Transform Effect on a Symbol Instance. Expand the result. You'll see that what you have is a group of Symbol Instances. And Symbol Instances are just references--commands to "put a copy of that here."
Use a Symbol Instance in some other construct, like for example, a Pattern Fill. Expand the Pattern Fill and you'll not end up with a group of Symbol Instances; you'll end up with a bunch of actual copies of the artwork which the Symbol contains.
Same with a Scatter Brush. Now, I can understand a Symbol not working with a Pattern Brush or Art Brush because of the enveloping that has to go on. But all a Scatter Brush does is position/scale/rotate copies. So I would expect a Symbol Instance used in a Scatter Brush to create Symbol Instances. But it doesn't. Try it. Draw a red circle. Make it a Symbol. Use the Symbol Instance to define a Scatter Brush. Draw a path and apply the Brush.  Now doubleClick the original Instance still on the page to put it in Isolation Mode. Change its fill to green. Exit Isolation Mode. The circles on the Brush Path do not update.  They are actual copies of artwork, not Symbol Instances. Who knows why? Perhaps it would break other features/behaviors of Scatter Brushes I never use (Wacom tilt?). Or maybe they could have made it work with Symbols, but just didn't. Didn't AI Brushes exist before Symbols? Illustrator's history is full of later features not being well integrated into the pre-existing feature set (ex: LivePaint and Brushes).

  • Problems since 2.2.1  (applemobilebackup.exe error, long sync time)

After installing 2.2.1, I am experiencing the following and wondering if anyone on this forum has a solution to the following two issues. Thanks in advance.
While syncing to my pc (it's a toshiba laptop running xp sp3), right before completing, there has been an applemobilebackup.exe error appearing that I click ok to and then it finishes sync'ing. I'v searched the net and it seems like I'm the only one experiencing this??
It seems to keep taking longer and longer to sync. I remember the status bar running faster than I can keep an eye on it. After installing a few games, it's at a crawl these days. I uninstalled the Facebook app and still runs at a crawl. Anybody have any ideas how to enable faster sync times?

Here is an article from the apple support website that might help out.

    Michel,
Just to clarify, I can drag duplicates to an album but it only appears once - so it's not actually adding to the album. The question, as I understand it, is that PSE doesn't warn you whereas it use to in PSE 3..
    Ok, that clear now.
If I remember correctly, the format of the database for PSE was changed around version 4. So the error message that Beachcomber was seeing may have been generated by the old database system.
Version 4 used Microsoft Access as the database engine, not sure about version 5. Anyway I am sure that from version 6, the sqlite database engine was used.

  • Sync time duration

Hi, I have a question concerning the sync time.
Our current application uses 5 (developed) SyncBOs, each sync we have all in all about 500 records that are moved splitted on these syncbos.
Currently a sync action takes about 1min which seems quite long for me. I analyzed the time and noticed that after I started the SYNC on the Client it takes about 20seconds until the first syncbo is shown up on merep_mon (I just refreshed every second manually to check it). then it takes up to 5seconds to process all syncbos (which is ok) and again it takes another 20-30 seconds until the device is ready again.
On time I just disconnected the device from the network after the syncbos where processed and sent out again but before the device itself told me it was ready. And guess what, all records where already stored correctly on the device?!
Is there any setting I didn't figure out right now that can improve this time lags?
by the way, we are using MI7.0 SP12 with Creme3.27a on a WinCe 5 device.
    BR,
    Enzo

    Hi,
When you are in Asynchronous mode of sync:
Dont go by merep_mon but instead keep doing sync frome the client and then measure the time once you get the data of all 500 records to the client. So basically its the time from when you do the initial sync for data and then keep resynching until you get the actual data.
The reason behind it is simple. First time you do a sync, there will be requests for all the syncbo's in merep_mon in the waiting state and once they are moved to finished state, you can sync from the client second time and you will get the data on to the device. Make a note that the records in outbound will still be in waiting state until you sync 3rd time because only once the client sends the confirmation to the middleware
that it has got the data then the records in the outbound will be moved to send state.
So the best option i would suggest is make your application to synchronize with the middleware in synchronous mode. In this case in just one sync you will get data so you can eassily calcualte the time between when the sync starts and the sync ends and that will be the actual time of sync.
To make your application work in sync mode, i think in merep_meta.xml file of your application you have to change the sync mode of each syncbo to SYNC instead of ASYNC and also i think you have alternate ways of doing it but thats the one way you can do it.
    Hope it helps.
    Best Regards,
    Siva.

  • Long Sync times...... Solved!!!

Over the past 2 months I have been moving my nearly 4TB iTunes Library from Win 7 64bit to my brand new Mac Mini with Lion. Like many, I made the assumption that because iTunes was an Apple product it would run at its best on an Apple product. So far, the jury is still out on this one.
During the process of moving I discovered 2 bugs with iTunes. The first one was to do with consolidating an iTunes Library in an area greater than 4TB (I have reported this using the usual channels). The second one isn't quite so "rare" and may benefit others which is why I decided to open this thread.
In my house there are 3 Apple TV's (Gen 1), 2 iPod Touch's, 1 iPad and 4 iTunes users (with corresponding libraries of various sizes). In the center is what we laughlingly call our iTunes Server which now resides on a Mac Mini (2.7GHz 4G). It took many attempts to move our primary library from Windows to Mac (I will try to document all the problems on another occasion) but when I eventually got it working I noticed that sync times on any device attached to the Mac Mini library would take a minimum of 20 minutes no matter how small the sync should have been. In all cases the first 15 to 20 minutes consisted of the Mac Mini running at around 100% CPU without actually achieving much and then suddenly the CPU would reduce down to lower levels and the sync would complete as normal. Initially I thought iTunes was in a loop but eventually decided to let it run just to see what would happen....and sure enough it eventually completed normally.
Rather than go through all the different things that I tried to sort this out I will simply point out what I think is a bug in the Mac version of the product (it works OK in the Windows version). We have a family photo library with over 80000 photos in it. When syncing any device with photos from this library I used to select the root directory of the library and then simply select "selected folders" within that library inside the iTunes Photos Tab. This method had worked ok for us for at least 3 years in the old Windows environment. In the Mac environment however iTunes appears to need to cycle through the whole photo library EVERY TIME before it starts to actually sync. If instead I simply picked one folder with say 2000 photos in it, it would start syncing instantly without any delay. I can happily reproduce this problem whenever I want to.
So if you have long sync times ONE option is to check how you are accessing your photo library.

I'm experiencing this problem too. It goes through syncing Contacts, Calendars, etc. and then it say Syncing iPhone and hangs. CPU usage for iTunes goes from 7-10 to 103 and stays pegged. I have discovered that if I go to the "Advanced" section of the "Info" tab in iTunes and select "Replace information on this iPhone" that it will sync successfully, but only for that sync and the next sync will again hang. This trick seems to work whether I select all the "replace" options (Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks, Notes, and Mail Accounts) or just one (I tried with just Notes selected).
I haven't tried the Restore option yet.

  • Why is the Last synced time: 1/1/1601 12:00:00 AM

I'm doing a cutover migration from Exchange 2003. When I check the migration batch statistics, the "Last synced time" is always 1/1/1601 12:00:00 AM
I can't determine what this means, or why it is like that.  I want to ensure that the last sync is completed before deleting the migration batch.
    Any ideas?
    Aain Ramcharan Technology Alliance Inc.

I didn't let it stop my migration, though, as syncing is supposed to happen every 24 hours.
The best thing for me, whenever there was an error, was to Stop, Wait 10 minutes, and Start the migration, again.
    Good luck.

  • Managing impact of GRC10 portal repository object sync

    Hello all,
Now that our repository object sync for the Enterprise Portal connection is (finally) working accurately again, we are again facing the issue of how to manage the impact, since the system is, for all practical purposes, not usable during that 3+ hours each day. We are considering locking out the users and posting the sync schedule on the portal page to remind users that they will be locked out. Is this what others are doing? If you have a better idea, I would be interested in hearing about it.
    Thanks,
    Gretchen

    Hi Nitesh,
We worked on this issue for quiet sometime with SAP to get this finally fixed You can check all below mentioned notes.
    First Check:
Please check the Note: 1915763 - Error Provisioning from GRC 10 to SAP Portal while adding or removing a role in Change Account request type.
This Note says that if your LDAP set as data source is read-only in Portal, then you need to change it to Modifiable in order to allow create or change user belonging to LDAP.
We have set the UME correctly and no longer read-only. But our access requests still used to fail with the following messages.
"Object class name does not exist in IDM".
    Second Check:
Kindly ensure the field mapping for portal is done in IMG settings properly.
If it is fine please check below note 2033714 - AC10.0: error in SGL1 "Object class name does not exist in IDM".
This note is only to check if you have made any mistake with your portal mapping and doesn't address the correct issue.
    Third Check:
Finally after implementing SAP note 1941250 - UAM: Truncated parameters provisioned on changing users from Access Request
    our issue got fixed.

  • Sync times - wireless vs ethernet

I clocked sync times for moving a movie from iTunes on my computer to the Apple TV with three different connections:
    Airport Express 25:50
    Airport Extreme 12:56
    Ethernet 3:47
Wired Ethernet connection was 7x faster than Airport Express & 3.4x faster than Airport Extreme.

but the port on the AppleTV is not a GigE port so that should mean that it can only do 100base Ethernet speed at best... weakest link and all that...

  • Extremely long sync time

I have an 8 gb 3G iphone w/ virtually no photos, about a gig of music, 3 gigs of video and a gig of apps. It takes 8 hours plus to sync since using 3.0. After the first sync, a daily sync only takes 20 to 30 min, with no change in music, video, photos or apps. I read a post about deleting back-up and starting over. Not working. I'm going on 7 hours again to sync and it's only 3/4 done. Any help is appreciated. I'm using an Intel iMac, 2.16 ghz with iTunes 9.02. Again, it's been like this since using 3.0 software.
    TIA

I agree that it is probably related to an app. One of my apps was causing long sync times, many users reported it, and the developer figured out that he could store its content in the iPhone's "cache" area instead of its "data" area. (This was acceptable - the app creates a local mirror of one's online content). This simple change shortened sync times considerably because the sync did not need to run through all that data each time anymore. The app does its own syncing to its cloud, so it's no big loss to have it excluded from the iPhone sync.
You may have an app with a similar issue. You say you have a gigabyte of apps? That's a lot! Since most apps are tiny, that does sound like you have at least one app that maintains a large database, whether it be maps, game assets, or whatever. You should find a way or a utility to list your apps by size, because the biggest apps would be the most likely suspects.

  • Why doesn't the iPad sync time automatically?

It's a simple thing, but the iPad can't do it.  The iPad must have it's time set manually, and corrected manually as needed.  Grrrrr!

Yes, the WiFi only iPad could periodically sync time with an internet time server (Apple has one). Why it doesn't I don't know.
You can make this suggestion to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • W32time /monitor when syncing time in in PDC from external time servers

    Hi,
I have moved the PDC to a new DC in our lab environment (from 2003 to 2012r2).
Computers and domain controllers are syncing time from the PDC and the PDC is syncing time from external servers. This is working according to event log in PDC and computers.
But, when running w32tm /monitor on the PDC it says:
    dc01 ***PDC *** ....
    ICMP 0ms delay
    ntp +0.000 offset from dc01
    ref id: (unknown) [0x5c089E0a]
What does the hex code says in this context "ref id: (unknown) [0x5c089E0a]"? I expected the external time server here.
When running w32tm /query /peers it lists the two time servers that we use:
    Peer: 10.158.x.x
    State Active
    Peer: 10.159.x.x
    State active.
Is the 0x... as ref id normal? What is that refering to?
    Thanks,
    Oskar

ref id: (unknown) [0x5c089E0a] is still present after running the commands:
    net stop w32time
    w32tm /unregister
    w32tm /register
    net start w32time
and then reconfiguring for external time source.
This must be a presentation error in Server 2012 R2. If running w32tm /monitor on a server 2003 dc instead of 2012 r2 dc it is presenting
ref id: (unknown) [10.158.x.x] instead of ref
    id: (unknown) [0x5c089E0a].
Also, if running w32tm /query /configuration and looking at the field type it says:
    Type: NTP (Local)
NTPServer: 10.158.x.x 10.159.x.x (local) which means that it is synching externally. This is also shown in the event logs.
Do you agree this is only a presentation issue?
    /Oskar
