Hi,
I am struggling with a completely clean installation of Server 2012 R2 and Exchange 2013 SP1. I followed these steps:
Installed Server OS
Windows Updates
Added Active Directory Role (This is a single standalone server that would have been SBS until it was dropped)
Added DHCP & DNS
Added Certificate Services
Added Windows Server Update Services (WID Database & WSUS Services)
Windows Updates
Added Media Foundation
Added File Server Resource Manager and Work Folders
Added Windows Server Backup
Windows Updates
Checked all running without errors in Server Manager and performed a full bare bones backup.
Ran Setup.exe from Exchange 2013 SP1 disc.
Installed Pre-requisites and then rebooted
Windows Updates
Ran Setup.exe from Exchange 2013 SP1 disc.
Installation completed without errors
Rebooted
Checked all running without errors in Server Manager.
I Launch Exchange Administrative Center and get "problem with website's server certificate error" (normal on machine with self-assigned certificates). Click Continue to Website and get:
Windows Security dialog box:
iexplore - "The server localhost is asking for your username and password. The server reports that it is from Digest"
however no username and password combination will work: have tried [Administrator]; [Domain\Administrator] even created a user to no avail.
I believe the issue is somewhere in the IIS configuration because I also get the same error when trying to log into the server website from either the server or another machine on the network.
I have tried the complete installation three times now: (full disclosure not all of the same features/roles each time). On the first attempt I got this error immediately and on try number 2 was able to get into the EAC and created the mailboxes
but then it started giving the same error. The above steps are try number 3.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Andy Halford
P.S. A Follow up which might be significant: The Default Web Site is not running and will not start (it was previously running before the Exchange installation) and when I try I get the message that Another Website may be using the same port however none
of the others (Exchange Back End or WSUS Administration) are using ports 80 or 443 and I still get the error when they are both stopped.Could you post the list of sites:

Based on your description, I understand that this issue (C drive gets always full) occurred after Exchange
Server 2013 installed.

But my exchange server is installed in different Drive (EX: D)
I suggest that you should check file system to see what folders or files are taking up the space recently.
This issue may be not related to Exchange server.
Please refer to the following article and enable Disk Cleanup Utility. Then monitor the result.

How to : Configure Project Server 2010 to work with Exchange Server 2013
Hi everybody. I have a problem. I did integration success project server 2010 with exchange server 2010. But now my customer use exchange server 2013. So my question is "Have a way to integration project server 2010 with exchange server 2013 ?"
I haven't seen any document with Project 2010 and Exchange 2013. You could still try the old document with Project 2010 and Exchange 2010.

Disappearing disk space Windows Server 2012 R2 with SharePoint Server 2013 Enterprise
I've got an interesting problem with a virtual machine in our VMWare environment. It is Windows Server 2012 R2 with SharePoint Server 2013 Enterprise installed. I started out with a 60GB disk and it started running out of space, so I increased
it in VMWare and extended the partition to 100GB. Well, that lasted for a bit and so I extended it again. I've done this 3 or 4 times and now I've got a 160GB disk with about 2-3GB of space remaining (and it started with 10GB remaining).
WinDirStat shows 105GB of <Unknown> space being used, which is probably my issue. However, I can't determine what this is and it keeps growing like a tapeworm. The context menu on the <Unknown> files has all the options disabled,
so WinDirStat doesn't appear to have access to whatever the file(s) is/are. I've performed several chkdsk /f on the C: drive and nothing bad is reported. I don't have any restore points and am not running VSS (that I'm aware of). The pagefile
reports as being about 4.9GB, so that's not the issue. No large files are shown anywhere and my explorer settings are set to show me all files, including system files.
When I try to run WinDirStat with elevated permissions, it hangs and becomes unresponsive.
I've even resorted to running CCleaner to see if it found anything, but it simply found the standard temp files and such...about 1GB.
I'm pulling my hair out...and I don't have much to start with. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
RussIt appears that somehow, Microsoft Fusion Assembly binding logging was turned on and many of the temp folders located at c:\users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\InetCache\IE were filling up with hundreds of thousands of Fusion HTM log files.
This is controlled by an entry in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fusion\ForceLog which was set to 1. Hopefully, setting it back to zero will fix the issue. As a result of figuring this out, I have recovered almost 80GB of disk
space occupied by the log files.
I thought WinDirStat would show me what I needed to know, but it turns out TreeSize (which I've used in the past) works much better.

Renaming Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller with Exchange Server 2013
Is it possible to rename Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller, as we are using Exchange Server 2013 as a member server on Windows Server 2012 ?
We have some issues with the Domain Name, so want to rename..
Maybe somebody knows the best practices how to do this in best way???
Thanks.Hello,
You should do the following:
1. Promote another DC.
2. Transfer FSMO roles to that server.
3. Decommission old DC.
4. Rename it.
5. Promote it again as DC.
Here is useful link:

SCOM 2012 R2 Integration with Lync Server 2013
Hi,
I am trying to configure SCOM 2012 R2 to work with Lync server 2013 standard edition. I have successfully installed and tested Lync Server 2013. But the problem is, I never worked on SCOM application before and I can not find any easy documents online. So
could you please help me and suggest any step by step guide for the same purpose!
BR,
AjitHi,
Glad to hear that you have solved the issue. For the second question, what did you want to do with the Windows Server (anything to do with Lync Server)? As it is another question, you can also post another case on Technet forum and more engineers will help
you solve the issue.

Portal integration with Exchange server 2003 issues.
Hello,
We are using NW04s EP 7.0 SP16 and Exchange server 2003. We are trying to perform OWA and Groupware integration. Both the servers are in the same domain.
I have followed all the steps in the notes and documents available there in SDN. There are few issues:
1) The latest KerbMap filter has been configured in Exchange backend server. SAP note 785343 says that the exchange frontend server needs to be configured for anonymous authentication to enable pass-through authentication. But doing this breaks the form based authentication in exchange server, and it also poses security risk when the backend exchange server is behind the firewall. How do we enable pass-through authentication so that the exchange frontend passes the mysapsso2 cookie to the exchange backend server?
2) When I try to create an appointment or try to view the appointments, it gives an error message saying " No logon data found for system Exchange". The Exchange system has been configured for SAP Logon Ticket, and the user mapping fields were left empty. Why should it prompt for user mapping when the logon method is "SAP Logon Ticket"?
There are many documents out there, but none is the latest with clear steps. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks,
~YasinAs far as I remember, when Exchange 2003 is installed on a Domain Controller, it uses the local DC as a GC. You need to set back the 2003 DC as GC and restart it.
I believe, you are aware that demoting/promoting a DC with Exchange server on it is not supported by MS. The best approach is to:
Introduce an Exchange 2010 member server
Move all resources from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010
Decommission Exchange 2003
Demote the 2003 DC

Outlook 2013 not connect with Exchange server 2013 in internal network
Hello All,
I Have two Exchange server 2013 in our environment. Both server install mailbox and CAS role. After configure exchange server 2013, Outlook 2013 not connect in internal network. I have configure outlook manually. i tried by using the suggestion from blog
but not work. Outlook show that Server cannot connect/ server name could not be resolved. in outlook setting i also put exchange proxy setting. In exchange admin center i have changed the OWA, OAB, Auto discover name. But still not work.
I know that outlook can be connect from external by using ssl certificate and publish outlook anywhere but i did my configure from internal network.
Can you please suggest as soon as possible.
Thanks,
ParvezHi,
Firstly, I’d like to explain, same with external users, internal users use Outlook Anywhere to connect with Exchange server and use Autodiscover get all settings.
Thus, let’s try the following resolutions:
1. run the following command: get-clientaccessservice |fl autodiscoverserviceinternaluri
2. check if the host name in the above URL is in the DNS server and there is a DNS entry about the host name points to the proper IP address.
3. Check if the above host name is in your certificate.
Thanks,
Angela

Outlook 2007 compatiable with Exchange server 2013
Hi
I would like to ask, i have outlook 2007 and Exchange server 2013, when i configure outlook 2007, i fail to configuration, Is it outlook 2007 compaitable to exchange server 2013.Yes, Outlook 2007 is supported. Make sure that the Outlook 2007 clients are fully updated. As a minimum, you need
SP3 for office 2007,
kb2687404 and
kb2768023.
Again, the best approach is to have all office 2007 updates installed.

Exchange Server 2013 with RADIUS authentication
Hello,
I am a student and doing an internship. I have to test Microsoft Exchange Server 2013.
I am using Windows Server 2012, I already installed Exchange Server 2013 on it and everything works as intended.
But I couldn't find out how to configure my Windows Server 2012 in order to authenticate my mailbox users from Exchange Server 2013 with a RADIUS server which is not on my Windows Server 2012. I have to use their RADIUS server, the RADIUS server from the
company where I am doing my internship.
I already created a NPS and added the RADIUS Client + Remote RADIUS Server Groups. I created a Connection Request Policies with the condition:
User Name *
I forwarded the Connection Request to the Remote RADIUS server that I created in Remote RADIUS Server Groups and then I registered the NPS in th AD. But it's still not working.
Maybe I did something wrong or I misunderstood something or does this even work with Exchange Server 2013? To authenticate mailbox users with a RADIUS server before they can login into their mailbox and use their mailbox?
Thanks in advance.On Wed, 26 Mar 2014 09:21:25 +0000, DavidIntern wrote:
I already put the NPS as a RADIUS proxy. I followed this check list http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc772591.aspx
But the things is I want to make it work with our freeRADIUS2 that we have in place here. Without changing our freeRADIUS2. But I found out this is not possible since we are not using any Active Directory with it. Since I am still a newbie in this environment,
I am not sure if it is possible.
But my main question was if it was possible to use freeRADIUS2 and that my NPS would be the RADIUS proxy. So my question is answered, if I understood right, without making any changes to our freeRADIUS2 this is not going to be possible right? Because we have
no AD?
Our setup is freeRADIUS2 + MySQL database where all the users are stored.
As I mentioned in my previous response this really isn't the right place
for this question but why would you want to try to use a MySQL store for
authenticating against Exchange in the first place when you've already got
an authentication store (Active Directory) that is tightly integrated with
Exchange?
I still really don't understand what it is you're trying to accomplish nor
why you're trying to use such a complicated, convoluted method to
authenticate Exchange users.

Exchange Server 2013 and Remote Access VPN on a single server running Windows Server 2012?
Just by way of background, I have been installing and administering network servers, e-mail systems, VPN servers, and the like for many years. However, my involvement with Exchange and Windows Server has been mostly on the forensics and data recovery
level, or as a (sophisticated) user. I have never tried to deploy either from scratch before. My deployment experiences have been mostly with Linux in recent years, and with small private or personal "servers" running such cutting edge
software as Windows XP back when it was new. And even NetWare once.
When a client asked me if I could set up a server for his business, running Exchange Server (since they really want Outlook with all of its bells and whistles to work, particularly calendars) and providing VPN access for a shared file store, I figured it
could not be too difficult given that its a small business, with only a few users, and nothing sophisticated in the way of requirements. For reasons that don't bear explaining here, he was not willing to use a vendor hosting Exchange services or cloud
storage. There is no internal network behind the server; it is intended to be a stand-alone server, hanging off a static IP address on the Internet, providing the entirely mobile work-force of about 10 people with Exchange-hosted e-mail for their computers
and phones, a secure file store, and not much else. If Exchange didn't need it, I would not need to install Active Directory, for example. We have no direct need for its services.
So I did the research and it appears, more by implication than outright assertion, that I should be able to run Windows Server 2012 with Exchange Server 2013 on a server that also hosts Remote Access (VPN only) and does nothing else. And it appears
I ought to be able to do it without virtualizing any of it. However, I have spent the last three or four days fighting one mysterious issue after another. I had Remote Access VPN working and fairly stable very quickly (although it takes a very
long time to become available after the server boots), and it has mostly remained reliable throughout although at times while installing Exchange it seems to have dropped out on me. But I've always been able to get it back after scrounging through the
logs to find out what is bothering it. I have occasionally, for a few minutes at a time, had Exchange Server willing to do everything it should do (although not always everything at the same time). At one point I even received a number of e-mails
on my BlackBerry that had been sent to my test account on the Exchange Server, and was able to send an e-mail from my BlackBerry to an outside account.
But then Exchange Server just stopped. There are messages stuck in the queues, among other issues, but the Exchange Administration Center refuses now to display anything (after I enter my Administrator password, I just get a blank screen, whether on
the server or remotely).
So, I am trying to avoid bothering all of you any more than I have to, but let me just begin with the basic question posed in the title: Can I run Exchange Server (and therefore Active Directory and all of its components) and Remote Access (VPN only) on
a single Windows Server 2012 server? And if so, do I have to run virtual machines (which will require adding more memory to the server, since I did not plan for it when I purchased it)? If it can be done, can anyone provide any pointers on what
the pitfalls are that may be causing my problems? I am happy to provide whatever additional information anyone might like to help figure it out.
Thanks! An old thread but I ran into this issue and thought I share my solution since I ran into the same issue. Configuring VPN removes the HTTPS 443 binding on the Default Site in IIS for some strange reason; just go and editing the bindings, add HTTPS and things
should be back to normal. -
