AD RMS Templates on OWA

KimaniBob
Is it possible to have AD RMS templates display on OWA (I have Exchange 2010 sp3) and AD RMS 2008 R2?

I figured it out.
I used the following link :http://blogs.technet.com/b/ilvancri/archive/2010/07/09/configuring-ad-rms-and-exchange-2010-sp1-beta.aspx
Thanks hope this is helpful to someone else

  • Old AD RMS template still displayed in OWA which were already deleted

    Hi,
Currently, I'm having a problem where a deleted template still can be view & select when trying to apply RMS protection. I have checked the template distribution folder & run the Get-RMSTemplate to see whether the template is presented or not (which
    is not)
As you can see from the picture above. I have already disabled the rms, still we can see the template. Some of the template listed above have been already deleted & some just come pop in out of no where. Please, i really need some help here. Thanks in
    advance

Depending on what version of Exchange this is, you might be able to use:
    Set-IrmConfiguraton -RefreshServerCertificates
It sounds like this will refresh the templates as well:
    The
    RefreshServerCertificates switch clears all
Rights Account Certificates (RACs), Computer Licensor Certificates (CLCs),
and cached AD RMS templates from all Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 or
Exchange Server 2013 servers in the organization. Clearing RACs, CLCs, and
cached templates may be required during troubleshooting or in the event of a
change of keys on the AD RMS cluster in your organization.
I would be careful about actually deleting templates.  Preferably you should archive them.  If messages actually were protected with those templates and they are deleted, they will be inaccessible.

  • I am unable to see the created AD RMS Templates office 2010

    Hi,
We have a SBS 2011 server (AD, exchange, DNS, ...etc) and a File server 2008 R2.
We installed the AD RMS feature on the File server and created the templates needed.
    On AD RMS client (W7):
    -We run the task scheduler.
    -We create the registry key:
          HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\DRM  for office 2010 clients
          HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\DRM  for office 2007clients
On all MS 2007 client hasn't any problems but on all MS 2010 has a problem that: "unable to see the created AD RMS Templates.
    Please advise,
Note: I prefer to contact me using my email
[email protected] to acceleratre our communication.

    Hi,
We need to check the templates in the path: C:\Users\martinr\AppData\Local\Microsoft\DRM\Templates
    first.
Then, if you use 32-bit editions of Office running on 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows, please try the following command:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\<version>\Common\DRM.
Following this, I recommond do the two methods:
The permission policy path in the ADMX file is setup to use EDITTEXT (Regular Reg_sz), instead of EXPANDABLETEXT (REg_Expand_Sz).
The policy template is setup out of the box expects a static path (i.e. c:\templates, and cannot use %localappdata%\Microsoft\DRM\Templates)

  • Azure RMS Templates

Hello, I recently posted this question in both the Azure and Office 365 forums and was referred here. We
are currently using Office 365 and have enabled E3 licenses to use IRM in Office through Azure. We would like to encrypt a lot of documents using the AD RMS Bulk Encryption tool,
however it requires an RMS template. Azure provides two (Confidential, and Confidential Read-only). These work using the tool, but when I try to modify the XML to customize the templates it breaks them and since I don't have access to the AD RMS
MMC I cannot generate my own. Does anyone know how I can make this work?

Updating an old thread: Azure RMS now supports customized templates.

Can i do that? if there is unable, can you tell me why?
    Thanks & Regards
    Fakhri

I'll give you the outlines then you can go ahead
Open the template (XML file) then check the syntax to make it public and change it )
then go to GPO and apply it to the users to need
this is the answer as I thought your question

  • When printing a AD RMS protected email (Exchange IRM), can have the description of the AD RMS template policy print as well ?

    Greetings,
I noticed when I get an email which is AD RMS protected (e.g. read only ) but I am given the permission to print, I will like to have the AD RMS policy template description to print as well.
This description is the one that shows up at the top of the email when reading a AD RMS protected email.
    Thanks
    Sarbjit Gill

    Hi Sarbjit,
There is no printing template description feature that works out of the box. However, You can implement Watermarks text being placed on your document when using ADRMS policices but only with integrating ADRMS with 3rd party solutions (f.e. Gigatrust,
    SecureIsland, Foxit, etc).

  • AD RMS 2012 Templates/Permissions [Option] is not visible at Outlook 2013 in Nokia Windows 8 Mobile Device

I have AD RMS 2012 Server, its working fine by applying restricted Templates/Permissions on OWA, Outlook & other MS Office Tools (Word Excel, PowerPoint). But the AD RMS Templates/Permissions [Option] is not visible at Outlook 2013 in Nokia Windows
    8 Mobile Device.
Actually I would like to protect email with RMS templates (defined by me on AD RMS 2012 Server) but the [Permission] tab is not visible at Outlook 2013 in Nokia Windows 8 Mobile Device.
But I can do same with Android OS in Samsung Galaxy Mobile Device & I can see [Permission] tab as well to protect an email messages.
    Any idea??
    Regards,
    M.Daud Soomro

Currently, you can't use WP 8 to protect docs/emails with ADRMS templates. YOu can however use transport rules on Exchange server side to configure automatic ADRMS protection.

  • Office 2013 not downloading templates from AD RMS

    Hi,
Im am using AD RMS onsatlled on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and users are using windows 7 enterprise, office 2007 and office 2010. They can see right policy template with downloaded to outlook 2007 and outlook 2010.
But now I have installed office 2013 pro. plus and added new admx files to new gpo for office 2013 also enabled this  policy "Enter Permission Policy Default Server for Quick Access Toolbar" and writing in the policy
\\rmsservername\templates_path But I cant receiving ad rms templates from my outlook?
Is server 2008 r2 sp1 ad rms compatible with office 2013 or am I have to install server 2012 ad rms for office 2013?
How can I fix this problem?

    Hi Ahmad,
I have also been with same problem. According the link below i have shared. it says, it might take 1 to 7 days to replicate the template.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/rms/archive/2013/06/06/office-2013-ad-rms-client-2-x-and-template-distribution.aspx

  • Office 2013 and RMS restrict permission

    Hi,
I want to restrict Access/modify/view access to documents for some users, and I'm able to do this with Word 2010, but not with Word 2013.
When I try to restrict access using "restrict Editing" under file information I got the this error:
"We were not able to find the information Rights Management Template. Please contact your administrator."
Then I use Rights Protected Folder and things worked fine with me as shown below.
And my question is how to use RMS with Office 2013 without the plugin?
Note: Templates are shown in Office 2013 normally and it is updated

    Hi AmirMahouk,
Protecting Word 2013 file with RMS templates/manuall permissions is performed in very similar way to Word 2010:
    Document cannot be empty (blank)
Go to File > Info > Protect Document > Restrict Access > Restricted Access.
Select "restrict permission to this document"
Provide emails of the users you want to protect documet for in Read or in Change fields. You can choose additional options clicking "More Options" button.

  • AD RMS user specific permission

    Hi
I have installed and configured AD RMS in Windows 2008 server.
Currently all users can apply templates / assign permissions for any office files / outlook mail.
Now my requirement is to restrict this access to a group of people who can actually set the permissions for any office file or outlook mail.
    How to achieve this ?
In group policy, i can either restrict everyone or none. But not for group of people.
This is because, if i enable for all, every outlook client will have access to set permissions for every mail they send and it will become a routine for each mail that comes with do not forward restrictions.
    regards Sundaresan.C

I made it by creating a separate OU and move specific users to this OU. And created a GP for this OU and provided Access to apply RMS templates . For all other OU's, i have made the option "Prevent users to change the RMS permissions" under Office 2010 ADM
    template in GP.
    It works..
Only thing is that i cant separate outlook and Office files with RMS permissions. Both are combined.
    regards Sundaresan.C

  • AD RMS

I have one AD RMS server installed in Dev environment. I want to ensure that users will be able to access the documents already secured and will be able to restrict access on new documents even if AD RMS server goes down for a while.I am testing it at
my end but getting mixed results. So not clear with the results. I see some security settings in the AD RMS template but I am not clear with what does what. Please share your experience in case you have already worked on it.

AD RMS might not be the right solution for your requirements. Azure RMS sounds like a much better fit for you.
When a protected document is opened for the first time, RMS (both ADRMS and Azure RMS) must validate the user at least once. Then if the RMS template used to protect the document allows for offline access, then that same user can subsequently open that same
document for the period of time defined in the RMS template (for example, up to 7 days). So during that 7 day offline period, the RMS service can be down and the user can still open the protected document, however, users who have not contacted the RMS service
at least once will not be able to open the document when the RMS server is offline. That is why Azure RMS is a better fit for your needs, because a Cloud service is highly available, much more so that what most organizations can design for their on-premise
    environments.

    Hi,
in a single forest you can have only one RMS SCP. You could create more RMS clusters but those are not discover-able that way, only over using RMS templates or overwriting the clients registry.
If you say multi-tenant I assume every tenant should have its own RMS key, correct? If you have only one RMS cluster the cluster admin will have control over all documents.
    Hope that helps,

  • Office 2013 and Windows 2008 R2 SP1 AD RMS

    Hi All,
I have installed Windows 2008 R2 SP1 AD RMS service, and it works well with Office 2010/2007, does not however work with office 2013, below is the error I get:
sorry, something went wrong opening information rights management protected content. the request is not supported
I have added the  AD RMS cluster URL and the AD RMS licensing URL to the loacl Intranet security zone (http://realercheng.wordpress.com/2013/01/23/office-2013-failed-to-create-and-consume-protected-content-with-connect-to-digital-rights-mangement-services-and-get-template/),
however, I still get the same error.
Does Office 2013 work with Windows 2008 AD RMS, and if it does what is the issue here and how do I go about sort it?

  • AD RMS Offline - Use license for each file?

    Hello.
We have protected with AD RMS many Excel files, all with the same RMS template and permissions. This template include a use license with expiration in 15 days.
I need to allow opening any of this files while offline. The problem is that I think the use license acquired when opening an Excel file is just for that document, not for all the documents protected with the same template.
How can I get sure, all users would open without forcing RMS sever connection when they are offline?
I have many users that should work offline, and there are more than 200 files, so I cannot explain them to open all files every 14 days for avoid license expiration.
    What can I do?

    Hi,
I dont think that that is possible. On one hand you want that users can still access the file and on the other hand you do not want that. Btw from your screenshot setting the use license to max 1 day means a user needs to get a new use license after one
day and for that he/she has to be authenticated again. But it is not the expiration of the content. For the content expiration it does not matter if you are online or offline.
Those settings are embedded in the document and once the template is applied you can only change it in the document but not in the database.
    Hope that helps,
    Lutz
