AD Security Inheritance Reversing (AdminSDHolder?)

Hi All,
I've run into an issue where I'm delegating rights to an OU and it is not consistently applying to some user objects.  I enable inheritance on the user objects and it reverses after an hour (probably AdminSDHolder protection).  The users are
not members of a protected group.  I have other users who are members of the exact same groups and inheritance does not reverse on them.  The only difference is that the accounts it is reversing on have been ADMT'd.  I verified
that they are not members of protected groups in the remote domain.  Is there some additional security that causes user objects which have been ADMT'd to be protected?  If so is there a way around this without editing the AdminSDHolder object since
that reduces security?
Thanks!

Are there any differences in the user-account-control attribute on the migrated accounts? You can export a CSV of the accounts and compare the differences.

  • AD object security inheritance getting disabled

    Hi,
I am observing few uses are having security inheritance issue and AD administrators are losing their permissions on these user objects.
Inheritance is getting removed automatically after some time even after setting it manually as per below screenshot.
Please if anyone can tell me on how to find the cause of this issue. Also, If I check advanced security on the parent OU, I am not getting the option to apply the inheritance on all child objects. Is there any way or command via which I can re-enable inheritance
or apply permissions on all child objects under an OU ?
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    J R Dash

This is the behavior of protected groups, those users are members of one or more protected groups.
The PDC role holder compares the ACL defined on each user object that is a
member of a protected group with the ACL defined on the adminSDHolder object
every sixty minutes.  If the ACL on the user object is different to the ACL
on the adminSDHolder object, the ACL on the user object is reset to that of
    the adminSDHolder object.

  • Security Inheritance breaking in nested folder does not work

I have a scenario where I have to break the inheritance twice within the document library folders. I appreciate if you provide me any suggestions on how to achieve this?
Document library contains “employee folder1”, “employee folder2”, “employee folder3” etc. All these folders have unique security applied (no security inheritance from document library). Access is granted only for managers, Senior Managers, HRs and not to
    employee.
Each employee folder (Ex: employee folder1) has two sub-folders called “Active” and “Archive”.
Now, how can I grant access to employees only to “Archive” folder of their own? I need to achieve this programmatic ways.
So far, I am able to break the security inheritance for all employee folders. Granted access to only managers, HRs and not employees. Both subfolders “Active” and “Archive” inherits from respective employee folder(Employee Folder1).
Later, I broke the security inheritance again for the folder “Archive” and then granted access to employee.
Now, logged in as employee to check if he/she has access to “Archive” folder, but it does not display folder at all. I want to display archive folder when employee access url like this(but it displays access denied):
    http://SPSServer/Documents/EmployeeFolder1
However when I type full url in the address bar for archive
folder, I can see the content of Archive folder.
Will you please assist how to handle the securities programmatically? Is this multiple level security breaking is not best practice? The above behavior is expected or is there a fix I have do?
    Thanks in advance.

If you say meets all cirteria
    face is me
    face is gf
    rating is >3
then it should show only photos meeting all - me and GF and rating over 3 - it does not - without the rating it shows only photos of me and GF - with rating it shows all photos of me with a rating of over 3 and all photos of GF with a rating over over 3
    I consider that a bug
Using Keywords is a good workaround - and it is very easy t keyword a face by pulling that face up on the cork board and selecting all photos in that face and assigning the keyword to them

  • How to get refund employee Social security and reverse the employer amount

Dear Members, I have a requirement to refund overpayments of Social Security to an employee. The over payments have occurred as a result of an employee retiring in the same year they come back to work as a temp. They have two employee #'s therefore the maximum for Social Security will not be recognized until it is reached under the most recent employee number. We should not be over deducting for an employee that works for the same company. If it does happen to go through and over deduct, it is extremely difficult for the employee and employer to get the refund from the IRS. I have a requirement to refund the employee and reverse the employer amount as well. Looking for suggestion. Thanks in advance Punna Rao

    Hi Friend,
You will need to have a new wage type may be called as Social Security Refund wage type created that will act to be taxed for only Social Security taxes and should be entered on IT0015 to be proccessed such that it should refund Social Security amount only.
Also, whenever you have case wherein you need to have limits set appropriately for Social Security taxes, have it entered prior to next payroll run on employees' IT221 as adjustment run so that it updates YTD correctly and there is no excess of SS tax payment.
Also, IT221 needs to be also entered for refunding Employer amounts as it won't be reversed with standard reversal process as not being part of employees' net payment or gross payment, hence needs to be manually adjusted on IT221.
    Thanks,
    Ameet

  • How to calculate unique security scopes

I've read the http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262787.aspx and I have problems calculating the number of unique security scopes. For example:
    One list:
Two items broken permission can be seen by user a ---> 1 security scope
Two items broken permission can be seen by user b ---> 1 security scope
Two items broken permission can be seen by users a,b ---> 1 security scope
Two items broken permission can be seen by user a and modify by user b---> 1 security scope
Sum of items: 8, overall security scopes in the list: 4
    Am I correct?
    Thank you
    Christos

    XristosK,
    As per my knowledge
Two items broken permission can be seen by user a ---> 2 security scope (if you are not using a group)
Two items broken permission can be seen by user b ---> 2 security scope (if you are not using a group)
Two items broken permission can be seen by users a,b ---> 2 security scope (if you are not using a group)
Two items broken permission can be seen by user a and modify by user b---> 2 security scope (if you are not using
    a group)
Sum of items: 8+, overall security scopes in the list:
    8 + List's own security inheritance<what ever>
Read this great article: Scaling to
    10,000 unique permissions – Part 1 – The Problem
So what is a Security Scope then?
To put it simply … each time you grant access to a new principal (user account or group) then you are creating a new Security Scope.

  • Document Library Upload 'Choose Folder' programming Issues

    Hello,
I have a document library with folders and subfolders and all folders have unique security inheritance applied. Administrator is able to upload to any folder using below dialog. I want everyone who does not have permission to the folders and subfolders to
    upload file. So I decided to programmatically incorporate the ‘Choose Folder’ functionalities via SPSecurity.RunwithElivatedPrivillages(Delegate(){ “…” });
I incorporated fetching document library and populate hierarchies inside the security code so code run as system account. However when I call
    LaunchPickerTreeDialog
it populates based on user permission and hence if user does not have permission to folder, it does not populate at
    all.
How can I make sure to give this Upload file functionality to all users via dialog box with full permission so it generates all folders and subfolder of the document library when user select ‘Choose Folder’ option?
Please note that if I type the correct doc library folder url, it successfully uploads to any folders as my code is inside the elevated permission. It is not good approach to give textbox to end user to type as they might make a mistake, so I need to provide
a ‘Choose folder’ dialog functions but I want to run as elevated privileges as everyone who do not have permission also can upload the file.
    I also tried using
http://howtosharepoint.blogspot.com/2010/02/sharepoint-2010-folder-selector-and.html but the following code can’t be resolved
    if
    (_hiddenSelectionField != null
    && !string.IsNullOrEmpty(_hiddenSelectionField.Value))
      _listUrl.Text = GetObjectUrl(_hiddenSelectionField.Value);
      _hiddenSelectionField.Value = string.Empty; }
How can I declare and make use of  hiddenselectionField and
    ListURL in my webpart?
    Thanks

There's always a few challenges when trying to get around SharePoint's security model. Your options would be to try to extend the LaunchPickerTreeDialog if it's not sealed or to write a custom folder picker control. If you go the custom route, you could
even include it directly on that upload page to avoid the additional clicks.

  • I keep getting error code 3 with a fresh sync using AUSST. Help please.

The tool tells me the folder exists at the given path, so i'm using the command correctly.
It's a Windows server, the path is not local to the server, but is set up as the host folder in IIS 7. I can access the website i created for this, and can see the "updates" and further folders that i have created.
I get error code 3 when trying to synchronise, and all it does is delete the folder specified as root.
I run the command like this:
    adobeupdateserversetuptool.exe --root="\\server\share\adobe\updates\cc"
then choose option 1 on the menu, which is "fresh synchronisation".
    Your choice: 1
    Fresh Synchronization chosen.
Folder exists at given root path! All the contents of the folder will be deleted
Enter 'Y' to continue or any other key to exit: y
Could not access the specified path.
    AdobeUpdateServerSetupTool returned with code: 3.
"everyone" and "domain computers" has been granted full access to the folder in question, and security inheritance is on.
    Any ideas?

I have got past the error code 3, but now I get error code 4...

  • Assessment tool (free/opon source) or any tool that i can buy?

    hi,
Does anyone know about the tool(free/open source) that can help us assess a current SharePoint environment without
    even logging into the server
                                             OR
we should put together a series of PowerShell scripts to extract these type of information from the farm programmatically:
    1. Name of all servers (including DB server)
    2. Service Pack level of each (aka. version number).
    3. Count and list of web application URL, site collections, content databases.
    4. List of managed accounts/service accounts used.
    5. List of service applications that are configured/turned on (e.g. Search, User Profile Sync, App Domain, WorkflowManager, Office WebApp, XLS/Visio/Powerpoint/WordAutomation, BCS, etc.)
    6. For EACH site collection:
    a. Actual storage used
    b. # of site at root level
    c. # of subsites (including the root sites) and how many has security inheritance broken.
    d. Deepest sub-site level.
    e. Names of site collection administrators.
    f. # of document libraries
    g. # of Infopath form libraries
    h. # of lists
    i. Top 5 list/library with most item counts.
    j. Number of documents with more than 20 versions.
    7. List of solutions deployed in Central Admin (if possible, all URL of site/subsites they’re activated at)
    8. List of error showing in Central Admin (under “Health Analyzer”)

  • Why do my Visitors users get Access Denied in my New Forms - Mobile Devices Only

The issue I have is that I have a SP2013 Site with a group Visitors.
the default Site Permissions have been set to Read.
I then created a SharePoint List with a People Picker.
I broke the Security inheritance and gave the Visitors group Contribute Permissions
In Browser mode, they can access the site, open all links and even add content to list.
When I do the same actions on a mobile device, All the visitors get Access Denied when clicking on the Add Content Link.
The Link I make available is "https://myweb/sites/site/Lists/mylist/NewForm.aspx"
I have found some suggestions about unplublished content, but this does not explain why the user can perform the required actions on a desktop, but not on a mobile device using the same link

    Hi,
By mobile do you happen to mean iPhone? There has been quite a few issues with SharePoint 2013 and iOS authentication. You might want to refer to the following exchange.

  • SSRS 2008 subfolder access denied but only partly

    Dear all
After removing authorizations from the root folder we have an access issue with subfolders.
A user with seemingly proper authorizations (Content Manager, Publisher, Browser, MyReports, ReportBuilder) is able to upload reports, delete reports, run reports, shift reports to other subfolders
But when trying to view the security properties or updating a report e.g. by changing the data source he gets the 'Access denied' error.
Any suggestions for the root cause of this?

    Hi JoachimRe,
As you removed authorizations from the root could it be that you broke security inheritance as described here
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159693(v=sql.100).aspx
    especially:
The Content Manager role is often used with the System Administrator role. Together, the two role definitions provide a complete set of tasks for users who require full access to all items on a report server. Although the
Content Manager role provides full access to reports, report models, folders, and other items within the folder hierarchy, it does not provide access to site-level items or operations. Tasks such as creating and managing shared schedules, setting
server properties, and managing role definitions are system-level tasks that are included in the
System Administrator role. For this reason, we recommend that you create a second role assignment at the site level that provides access to shared schedules.
    Note
By default item security is inherited from a parent item.  If you apply security settings to an item that are different from those of the parent item, you stop the inheritance chain of permissions to child items. A side effect of this someone in the
Content Manager role may not have all the permissions they would have had if the inheritance chain had not been changed.  For example they may no longer be able to modify folders created by other users.
Which, by the way, I think, does not explain the access denied message for modifying datasources. Did you by any change also alter the task list for predifined roles on the reporting services report server in ssms?

    Rudolf Swiers

    Hello,
Edge server is not used for client comunication (OWA, ActiveSync etc). You should configure firewall rules to point to your CAS server or (more secure method) reverse proxy.
    Hope it helps,

    Hi Chirag,
I have not seen such a exhaustive
powershell script available, however you may find individual scripts, and you can combine them in a single script.  I think bing would be able to help you in this case :)
