AD Sites / DFS issues
We've set up AD Sites and DFS in our 2003/2008 mixed environment and the results seem incredibly sporadic.
SiteA has two subnets:
192.168.1.0/24
172.22.0.0/22
SiteB has one subnet:
172.23.0.0/22
The PCs at each location seem to hop back and forth as far as what site they are part of, which I have verified using the "nltest /dsgetsite" command. The DFS shares also seem to hop back and forth as to what server they are pointing at, and
it does not necessarily correspond with what site they are in. I do not have any IPv6 addressing specified in AD Sites, and have tried disabling IPv6 on the PCs as well but it has not helped.
Any insight/advice would be much appreciated.
All of the SRV records seem to be correct. We haven't enabled logging for the netlogon service, but I suppose that we could. One thing I've noticed is that when we run dfsdiag /testsites, I get the following, but I'm not sure if it's an issue
or not. The two 2003 servers pass, but the 2008 server fails since its IPv6 address and link-local addresses are not in a site.

Hello,
I have a weird DFS issue I am having trouble fixing. Currently users at one of our site uses 1 file server which has DFS namespace enabled but is not replicating however if the users map to it via IP or Namespace or UNC they are sometimes able to see the
file and sometimes they just see the DFSRoot folder.
Any idea what could be causing this issue? The files aren't replicating and its the same location.
Thankstaking back to basics !!
so if users go to \\ServerName\Share, they should always see the files, this is a fixed known quantity.
if that's the case then it sounds more like some kind of AD/DNS issue to me rather than DFS, because using
\\servername\share is nothing todo with DFS. ! if I am correct in what your Saying and that sometime you cannot see the content even with IP or server name.?
Or if its only DFS then :-
do you have multiple folder targets under your DFS namespace, with DFSR replication setup for different Sites.
Could the end users be picking up DFS information from a different DC which hasn't replicated the AD / DFS information correctly ?
forgot to ask is this a standalone namespace or AD integrated ?
have you installed the DFS role on the Actual File Server which has the Data ?
I ask that question because if you create a DFS link with the same name as the share, then potentially there would be two Shares on the same server, (not sure if this is even possible).
one share with the actual Data, one which is the DFS root. perhaps , its totally random, then sometimes it connects to the DFS root share, and sometimes it connects to the actual Folder Share.
normally I would just have a DFS server, a VM, with nothing but the DFS role installed on it.
Then for example my DFS links would point to multiple files servers with Shares.
also some interesting Some from Microsoft stuff to look at :-

Weird DFS issue Windows 8.1 clients
One of my users noticed something peculiar when working on text or document from a DFS share.
The user will save changes and leave the doc open. Preliminary tests show that around 10min+ is when user receives an error, "THE SYSTEM CANNOT FIND THE PATH SPECIFIED". The user hits the "OK"
button and is presented with a "SAVE AS" dialog in the same working directory. User hits "SAVE", dialog warns of an "overwrite" and hits "OK" again and text or doc gets saved.
I was able to reproduce the problem myself. I opened an online stopwatch and set a count down of 12 minutes. Every 3 minutes I added some text and hit save. All was well until the last 3:45. I added some more text, hit save and BOOM - error occurred, "The
System cannot find the path specified".
The two servers that hold the DFS share are Windows 2012 R2 boxes. One sits in the LA site and the other in Chicago. According to the output from "get-dfsrbacklog", there is no backlog between the DFS servers - all appears sync'd. Also, logs
appear clean except a few of errors in the event log and DFS replication health report regarding sharing violations.
Anyone seen something like this? Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?Hi,
Please run DFSUTIL /PKTINFO on the client to check if the client referred to Off-Site DFS namespace targets and also check if the DFS root information was missing in registry:
"HKLM\Software\Microsoft\DFS\Roots\Domain"
If so, we could export the same registry from a working DFS server and imported the same on the server and restarted the DFS service to check the results.

Mandy

DOM Based Cross-Site Scripting issue in RoboHelp 10
We're using a WebHelp system originally deplyed using RoboHelp 9.0.2.271, and a recent security scan revealed the DOM based cross-site scripting issue.
I recently upgraded to RoboHelp 10, migrated my help system to this version, and redeployed the system, but our security scan is still detecting the cross-scripting vulnerability in WebHelp. Wasn't this issue resolved in RoboHelp 10?
ThanksHi,
I’m not a security expert, but this script reads the URL of the current topic and redirects to the current topic with a bookmark. This is needed for when the same topic is used in multiple locations in the TOC.
I’ll ask around about this security issue.

LiveCycle ES2, Guides, SSL and IE 8/9 Cross Site Scripting Issue
I have a guide that is being served up in the workspace.
This guide works fine in all of the different browser versions provided they go through port 8080.
If however you enable SSL on your server (port 8443) and serve up the guide in the workspace, the end user can fill the entire form out only to have the browser identify the submit process as a Cross Site Scripting issue.
This is the result:
The data is essentially lost and guide disappears. I had a theory that maybe the submit process might be using the default server port for data submissions (8080) and created a customized submit process with the hardcoded targetURL.
I tried to test my theory and got the same result. I then modified my custom submit process to essentially do nothing (Started and ended the process with an abstract activity), and got the same result.
The only other thing that I could think of, is that the automatically generated action script classes might be hard coded to use default port instead of the SSL port.
Suggestions?!Hi
You can rise SR for your issue for 5000+ user or you can also can connect wiht your system engineer team for can possible solution as setup IE and deploy it to 5000+ user pcs

We had a user report a site creation issue with their site. They had been able to create sites with no problem up to this point. But now, when attempting to crate a site they get an error "User can't be found". But if they create a blank site
I or a blank team workspace. The site creates without incident. Any idea? The permissions appear to be correct but they can't create anything but blank sites without receiving the error. Maybe check permissions to webparts and templates (Do you know where
I could do that)?Hi,
Did you mean create site collections in the CA?
Did the users have admin permission or other permission? You can use the admin account to check whether it works.
To narrow down the issue, you can use other web application to check whether it works.
Maybe the web application had been corrupted.
You can also check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
To check event log, click the Start button and type “Event Viewer” in the Search box.
For SharePoint 2010, by default, ULS log is at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS

Hi all, when ever i am trying to check in a new template through Dynamic converter or else, try to create a new site connection through site designer, i am getting the below error message, can anyone please let me know whats needs to be done to get this issue resolved.....

Cause:
"This is caused by zone indexed fields that were created outside of the Content Server interface. Dropping and recreating the zoned index fields should resolve the issue."
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
Log in to the Content Server through the browser as sysadmin.
Navigate to Administration -> Zone Fields Configuration.
On this page, change the value of the search engine in the dropdown list to DatabaseFullText if database full text indexing is being used. Leave it set to Database if database metadata only indexing is being used.
If there are fields listed in the left-hand box (Zone Text Fields):
Make a note of all the fields listed in the left-hand box (Zone Text Fields), or take a screenshot of this page.
Remove all of the fields from the Zone Text Fields box by highlighting each field and clicking the right arrow.
Click the Update button.
Run the following query directly against the database to see if any zoned fields are still present. The zoned fields can be identified by the ZFT suffix, for example, DDOCTITLE_REVISIONS_ZFT:
Select index_name from user_indexes where table_name = 'REVISIONS';
If any indexes with the ZFT suffix are returned in the results as an index, drop that index from the Revisions table in the database.
Verify that the error no longer appears.
Re-add any desired zoned field indexes through the Administration -> Zone Fields Configuration page. -
Site to Site calling issue - Cisco 2911 Dial Peer Configuration
My customer dials from remote site to main site to their main site number, the call by-passes their auto attendant and goes directly to any random available party.
At first fingers were pointing to the their PBX, however we noticed one of their sites that wasn't managed by our company did not have the issue. We cut that site over to our service and the issue started right up. I believe it is possibly due to the way the dial peers are configured and how the calls route into the PBX. Unfortunately I do not understand much about them and curious to know if anyone has any history on a issue similiar to this or any input whatsoever?

Live site display issues {subject edited by moderator}
Okay, so on dreamweaver, the website looks fine (albeit, often it doesn't resemble what the actual final site looks like), but my letters from my paragraphs are all scrunched to the left side. It appears to be CSS because it has affected all the pages, but I've been trying my damnedest to tweak different lines of code to no avail. What makes it even more difficult to troubleshoot is that in the "live" and "design" mode, they appear perfectly fine. However, when I upload the site to my host, the letters are all crammed to the left side making my "professional" website look like sh#t!
Can someone please look through my source code and help a fellow creator out. Thanks so much
www.11thworldproductions.comI'm not seeing it in any of my browsers, which version of IE is giving you the trouble. I always assume IE is the problem when it isn't spelled out (it's best to explain the problem in your body, not in your post title, it will get truncated)?
In IE7 and 8, the entire site should be broken. There is a lot going on in your code that neither of those browsers can handle.
Looks fine in IE9 and 10, Firefox and Chrome for me.
If your issue is showing in IE10 or 11, make sure to turn off Compatibility Mode if it's enabled, that breaks everything.
It could also be a browser cache issue, make sure to clear that out and look at the site again.
Also make sure to run your page through the validatror at http://validator.w3.org to get a listing of your html errors. Those errors can cause display problems between browsers/versions/platforms. -
Bc and dreamweaver cs6 site import issues
- issues importing BC sites in Dreamweaver cs6
- manage sites dialog,
- flash loader spinning, "Retrieving site definition..." endlessly. Thanks Brad. It is happening only for the sites that aren't set up in the manager. the few that are (after a fresh os 10.6.8 install and a fresh cs6 install) are fine. The ones that aren't working are all the rest. So, about 4 that connect and show business catalyst as the "type" in the manager, 1 (my main rebraded partner site) that shows as type "dreamweaver" and then maybe 15 I can't import. The reason for the dreamweaver type is that I used the ftp creds to set it up so that I could use it rather thna letting dreamweaver sniff out the creds and serve up my login cred screen to tie it together. I only did that since I was desperate to edit. It's a workaround.
I spent a long time on chat yesterday with Adobe Support. Deleted prefs, deactivated dreamweaver, restarted, same issues. They filed a support ticket. I'll try to keep this updated if anyone else would like to know. As always, thanks for the help. - T -
I am using Adobe Dreamweaver 8.
When I define a Dynamic site and enter the FTP login info AND
the FTP password Dreamweaver does not save it even though I tell it
too (The little box is checked).
So everytime I start Dreamweaver and put files to the server
I have to re-enter this information. As long as I leave Dreamweaver
running I don't have to re-enter the FTP info. But after shutting
Dreamweaver down, I have to re-enter the FTP info the NEXT time I
start it.
Is there a fix for this?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Site definition issue (maybe???)
My desktop computer had some issues and I am having a hardware and operating system upgrade done on it. It had six hard drives, none of which were damaged and all of the data is intact. This data includes all of my DW CS4 sites which are in one of two directorys (i.e, "Client A-M" and "Client N-Z"), under a client sub-directory in the client's name.
I have a free-standing docking station where I mounted the hard drive with the client files and copied them to an external drive which is attached to my laptop, which has a full CS4 Premium Design Suite, including DW CS4, installed. I have already edited and updated some sites, a couple with no problems, and a couple with some problems reocognizing and updating templates.
In a previous post, I addressed this issue and it was suggested that on the ones where I had problems, the issue was site definition files. I have just recieved a request to do some updating on a site which I have not opened on the laptop. As a prevention to avoid any problems, my quesiton is this:
Should I redefine the site in it's existing folder on the laptop as a new site since this installation of DW CS4 has never seen that site before and the subject site is not on its recognized list of sites.
Thanks in advance for you help,
Joe
PS: What is the file extension for the site definition files, and where do they reside on the computer?
J.Without knowing the issues it's hard to determine. You could always try to bring the files over. Assuming your computer was setup with a RAID configuration and you didn't lose data then you should have no issues transferring the files. But if you were running 6 independent hard drives and you have already run into issues you may want to consider just entering the data in fresh just to ensure no corruption down the road. The files for the site definitions will vary. Typically on the Mac they are located in the Library->Application Support->Adobe->Dreamweaver CS5 folder, on Windows it's hidden away in the Application Data folder.

Publish site / FTP issues arggg
Long time fan of Apple. Purchased iweb09 last week and built a site for my small business. <Edited by Host>
Well I have tried but I can’t resolve the following issues:
(1) FTP Server Test Connection returns OK. But when I try to load the site I always get the following error message “*There was an error communicating with the FTP Server. Try again or check with your service provider”* How can I resolve?
Regardless of this the site actually loads – but IWeb does not recognize this as a successful upload so all the left-hand page titles stay red...
(2) The site that has loaded on this basis - has some problems when viewed in Microsoft Explorer
- some of the Stroke / Lines are not appearing
- some of text overlaps – I realize that you can’t control other internet browsers – but would like to optimse for Explorer
Thanks for any help - cheersWelcome to the Apple Discussions. Roddy has posted tips for optimizing for IE in several threads:

If you're using the built in ftp client of iWeb you might try using the free CyberDuck after publishing to a folder on the desktop first. Many have had better luck with it.

Site Meter Issue on Safari, Firefox and Opera
Hi -
Sorry if this should actually be a OS X question, but since it's a browser issue I thought this might be the place.
I have several blogs that have Site Meter on them. When I view the blogs, the Site Meter "bugs" do not appear. When I try to access Site Meter itself .. I get a blank page and the header states "www.sitemeter.com.gif 1x1 pixels." This happens on both Safari and Firefox. Opera just has a blank page.
Is there some plug-in or software I might be missing? This has happened since I got my Mac Book back in February and I am just now getting frustrated having to go into my Windows machine to get the information.
Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated. I am available at [email protected] if anyone has any help they could offer.
Thank You!HI,
You didn't mention what type internet connection you are using. Cable... Ethernet/Airport ??
If you have a cable modem from your ISP, disconnect it from it's power source for 5 minutes, reconnect, restart your Mac. See if that makes a difference.
Obviously your network is ok or the iPhones and PC wouldn't be connecting. Has to be your internet connection itself.
Try maintenance...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1594
Make sure Safari is running in 32-bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.
Download and install the 10.6.2 combo update available here. It's ok to do this even if you are already running 10.6.2 The update includes Safari plugin reliabiity that wasn't part of the original 10.6.2 update.

Cisco RV220/RV110 Site-Site VPN issues
Hi I have a couple of sites using the RV220 at head office and a few RV110's at branch offices linked by IPSec VPN. I am finding the links to be very unstable and it appears to be the actual routers causing this.
The issue starts when data flow stops between two sites, I can restart the RV110 at the branch office but this rarely fixes the issue. If I restart the RV220 at head office then the VPN is re-established. I find that both ends think they are connected, but I can't drop or reconnect the interface using the web interface. Traffic (Rx/Tx) across the link is usually reported as 0.
I have three businesses I look after that have this identical issue. The remote sites are connected via various methods (bridge mode to ADSL or 4G services)
All devices running latest firmware. Some times the links will freeze up several times a day, some times once a week.
