Adapter engine field blank in File Comm channel (Sender)

Hi,
I am not getting any value in drop-down list of adapter engine in file adapter communication channel.System is allowing me to save the comm channel but when I am trying to create sender agreement, system is giving me following error
<b>Unable to find an associated SLD element (source element: SAP_XIIntegrationDirectory, [CreationClassName, SAP_XIIntegrationDirectory, string, Name, directory.s01., string], target element type: SAP_XIIntegrationServer)</b>
I m getting values of adapter engine when I select some other adpter like IDOC or RFC.
Please help...

Hi,
1) Can you check your Post Installation.
2) Look for SAP NOTES.
3) Try cache refresh
   a)Start transaction SXI_CACHE.
b)From the context menu XI Runtime Cache select Start Complete Cache Refresh.
If you still face issue try this .
Many actions require to access System Landscape Directory content from the Integration Builder. To optimize performance, this content is loaded into a cache so that the System Landscape Directory does not have to be accessed directly each time that System Landscape Directory content is required.
However, this cache is not automatically updated if changes are made to the content of the System Landscape Directory. For this reason that we delete the System Landscape Directory cache if changes have been made to content in the System Landscape Directory. The cache is then filled each time that the System Landscape Directory is accessed. If we log on to the Integration Builder after we have made a change in the SLD, we do not need to delete the SLD cache.
To clear the SLD cache, from the Integration Builder main menu, choose Environment ® Delete Cache for SLD Data.
Once we have deleted the cache for SLD data, accessing objects in the SLD may take longer than usual initially.

    Hi,
The RfcAdapter is implemented as a J2EE Service and thus this service has to be started and stopped. This will affect the whole RfcAdapter and can be done from the J2EE Engines Visual Administrator. When you are connected to the J2EE Engine choose the tab 'Cluster' and open the appropriate server node in the tree. Then open the 'Services' node. There you can see the entry 'SAP XI Adapter: RFC'. When you open the context menu on this entry you can start and stop the service

  • RFC Adapter Problem: Adapter Engine Field Blank

    Hi,
I want to invoke a BAPI defined on a R/3 system. I am trying to create a RFC Adapter in the Integration Directory by creating a communication channel.
The problem I am facing is that when I define the Adapter Type as RFC, the Adapter Engine dropdown list is blank and it does not contain any entries.
On passing a document through XI, I can see the following error in the monitor:
    <SAP:Code area="INTERNAL">ADAPTER_NAME_INVALID</SAP:Code>
      <SAP:P1>RFC</SAP:P1>
      <SAP:P2>PLSRV_CALL_ADAPTER</SAP:P2>
      <SAP:P3 />
      <SAP:P4 />
      <SAP:AdditionalText />
      <SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage namespace="" />
      <SAP:Stack>Unknown receiver adapter (name = RFC)</SAP:Stack>
what do i need to configure on the XI and R/3 side ?
    thanks,
    Manish

i followed the steps but i am not getting the populated adapter engine list.
Actually, the Association shows a list of logical systems to be added (Application System, BC Application Server, BC Central Server Instance .....). I experimented with many systems but it is not working.
My basic problem is I need to call a BAPI from XI. The XI monitor shows the error :
    Adapter Name Invalid.
    Unknown Receiver Adapter (name=RFC).
Now, for the RFC adapter, I have not given it any name. My Communication Channel is called GeneratedChannelRFC.  I am not sure where this error is coming from. I would appreciate any help to solve this error.
    thanks,
    Manish

  • RFC Adapter: Adapter Engine Field Blank

    Hi all,
Could anyone guide me through troubleshooting this one: When creating a RFC communication channel the listbox for the Adapter Engine is empty so I cannot select Integration Server as in other channels. All I know is that this might come from a messed-up SLD.
What do I need to look for? Any help is really appreciated.
    Eugen.

    Hilbert,
Thanks a lot for your answer. It kept me looking for more OSS notes and #764176 actually solved this problem.

  • Adapter Engine field is blank while creating RFC recieving Comm Channel

    Dear XI gurus
I have just installed XI server and also did the configuration and everything seems to work fine. I did SLD configuration, mapping etc.,
Then went to Configuration module and am trying to create a sender communication channel (Adapter Type RFC).
The Transport Protocol and Message Protocol fields got automatically filled by 'RFC' and 'RFC (RFC XML)' respectively.
However Adapter Engine field is showing up blank and when I try to select from the drop down menu, it is also blank.
I did search for other postings and tried the following as per the suggestions
Went visual administrator (by clicking on go.bat) and made sure that the cluster->Service and all the services needed for SAP XI Adapters are up and running
I would appreciate if you have any other feedback on this problem.
    Thanks
    Ram

Thanks a lot for your response, I will try that again and will let you know.
Meanwhile I also followed tech note 1031321 which said the following.
    2. To register the Adapter Engine, you have to restart the following applications:
    sap.com/com.sap.aii.af.app
    sap.com/com.sap.aii.af.cpa.app,
But this didn't help. I will try your suggestion

  • Communcation channel - Adapter engine field is empty.

    Hello Gurus,
After pointing XI to a seperate SLD, the Adapter engine field (the pull down) in the "Communication channel" is empy. The  adatpers are visible and no problem there. The business systems apprears to be O.k in the new SLD. We perfomed a export of technical and Business systems from old SLD and new SLD.
Help will be awarded with points.

  • Adapter Engine Field missing --

    Hi All,
I'm trying to create new Communication Channel in our QA system.
I'm using 'Sender File Adapter'  But somehow When I choose below option, the last value (Adapter Engine) is blank.
    - Adapter type : Sender FILE   http://sap.com/xi/XI/System  SAP BASIS 7.00
    - Transport Protocal : File System (NFS).
    - Message Protocal : File
    - Adapter Engine : ???????  (Blank)..
We are under PI 7.0 and I did same in Dev but it's not in QA.  I think the value of 'Adapter Engine ' should be 'Integration Server'
    automatically.   Any Idea?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Yes, if your adapter reside in the central adapter engine then it should be in the IS.
Adapters that host in different adapter engine, then decental adapter engine need to be selected.
Check you SLD configuration, whether there is an entry for your Adapter Engine or  not.
Have a Look on this SAP Note : 764176, do hope it will resolve you problem.
Look for these discussion: Unable to determine name of central adapter engine
Missing Adapter Engine in the XI Domain (in the RTWB view)
    Thanks

  • Problems creating FILE  comm channel

    Hi there,
I'm having problems with the creation of a simple communication channel that will pick and read a XML file from my computer. I'm trying to pick the XML file for mapping it to the corresponding fields and generate an IDOC.
I'm not concerned with the IDOC right now, i'd would like to try to fix this problem first.
I've created the business system with the communication channel. The channel has the following characteristics:
    Adapter Type: File
    Transport Protocol: File System NFS
    Message Protocol: File
    Adapter Engine: Integration Server
    File System Aacess Parameters:
    Source Directory: C:/temp
    File Name: Vendor.xml
    Processing Parameters:
    Quality of Service: Exactly once
    Poll Interval: 60 secs
    Processing Mode: Delete
    File Type: Text
So the file should be picked and deleted after being processed by the Integration Engine.
I've already created the Sender Agreement with the service and the communication channel i'd already created.
    Do you have any ideas?
Do I have to turn the firewall off? it's off...
Do I have to create any connections to my pc?....
    thanks

Thanks for all the answers but the problem persists....
    Bhanu:
"Please check the SLD entry for the R3 system where the IDoc is." Are you refering to the SWCV?
" make sure that the XI system has access to the File system (or it is on the same App Server as XI)" Yes, the file is on the same App Server.
    Prabhat:
I've tried your suggestion but the result was the same...
Is there a log where I can see why is he not doing anything? There must be a log where I can find what exception was launched...
    Help...please...:)

  • Adapter Engine field is empty

    Hi all,
    1.  When creating Communication Channel in ID , "Integration Engine"  field coming as  empty when file adapter is selected.  It is shwoing error msg when saving the CC. Why it is coming as empty? and how to resolve it?
    2.  When selecting the IDOC adapter in Communication Channel only  "Receiver" option is enabled and "Sender" option is disabled. What to do for "Sender" option also to be enabled?

  • Adapter engine showing error for file adapters

    Hi,
I had configured communication channel using FTP . Because of which the Adapter engine is showing red in the component monitoring. It is saying one of the communicaion channel has error. But when I do a check in the CCs they doesn't show any error. I am getting the same error for NFS as well.
Has anyone come across such a kind of situation? Is it because of wrong entry in CC parameters or is it some BASIS configuration (patch) issue?
Could anyone of you give some guidance on this?
    Thanks and Regards
    Sanil

    Sanil,
Just for testing purpose , delete ur comm.channel and check whether still u r facing the errors. If no errors then its bcoz of u comm.channel. Then we can narrow down the approach. Even after deleting the comm.chanel u get error then check all the channels across all clusters.
Note:After deleting the channel ,give some time and check the same.
    Best regards,
    raj.

  • Sender file comm channel shows error status when no file is in source

    Hello,
I have this sender file communication channel which is picking up files using ftp. <b>It’s working fine</b> but if there is no file in the source directory during polling, it shows an error status in communication channel monitor. The error message is that directory/file does not exist and also ‘*’ in file name is invalid character.
I have the same settings on our dev, QA and prod system but this strange thing is happening only on the dev and prod. It’s not happening on QA whereas QA access the same directory as dev.
    Any idea ???

    Hi,
    The error is strange one.
I suggest you to check Visual Admin to findout the exact trace/log file.
May be because of some connection problems etc..
Just go thru this SAP Note about File Adapter- 821267

  • Sender File Comm Channel Fails after system refresh

    Hi,
we did a system refresh of our PI system and since then the sender file communication channels donot work with the following exception:
Error: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.ConfigException: Some of the IS access information is not available. SLDAcess property may be set to true, but SLD is not available.
I have seen many threads in this forum related to this issue but couldn't find a proper solution.
Any help is very much appreciated.
    Thanks
    MLS

    You may do the following:
    1. Perform SLDCHECK on XI.
    2. Check if XIAFUSER is not locked or its password has been changed recently.
    3. Goto SLD-> Business sytems-> Integration server, check Pipeline URL. It should be
    http://hostname:8000/sap/xi/engine?type=entry

  • Sender File Comm Channel

    Hi,
I have a unique problem.  My file sender communication channel picks and process files only when the filename extension ends in .txt.
I had checked the configuration directory and made sure it is not *.txt type and had given star.star.
Still am not sure why this is happening.
When i dump a normal file without any .txt extension, it is not been picked up and the file remains in the same place, morever no errors are also coming.
Please share any light on this.

The other way to check if your changes are being correctly in the RWB, please deactivate the comm channel and then lookup RWB communication channel monitoring. check if the correct version is showing up out there. It could be the RWB is not getting the correct upated version. Activate the comm channel again and re-start the comm channel and then check.
You can also follow the path of using * in the filename instead of . as suggested by others.

  • Not able to see 'Adapter specific' indicator in http receiver comm. channel

I am not seeing the Adapter Specific Message attributes indicator in http receiver adapter where one can set a dynamic URL. Anybody any idea? Thanks.

I have a fixed URL except that it should be formed with https instead of http. I guess the default http is used as there is no where in the communication channel to select https. I am able to invoke the https url through browser but through http receiver adapter, I get error 'http client code 110 reason'. I see in other blogs that this is due to https not enabled in the J2EE engine. But for outbound why should that matter? As long as the target URL is set to accept https, I should be able to sent the message as long as the URL gets formulated starting with https. If it was SOAP adapter, the entire URL can be entered so no issue, but with http adapter is there a way to specify entire URL including the https:// ? Thanks.

  • Where is the Set Adapter Specific Attributes indicator on the comm channel?

I really think I must be losing it guys.
We are SP16, we went directly to SP16 from 9, so we skipped over SP14.
When I go into a communication channel and choose an adapter(File) for instance. I cannot find the Set adapter-specific message attributes indicator anywhere!
Someone please tell me where it is located! If possible please send a screenshot to [email protected]
    Thanks,
    chris
