this is my question,
the quality of service for FILE adapter type is given as BE,EO,EOIO . Is it possible to define the quality of service to BE in file system ? this confuses me alot.
similarly for JDBC adapter.(hope that only receiver JDBC adapter supports asynchronous communication)
Please clarify my doubt.
P.S : for all the experts , I have searched SDN to my knowledge and thats the reason behind posting this

As per the help document File adapter and JDBC receiver are not supproted by Best effort quality service.
But if you wish to use the File adapter for BE, then sap have provieded the modules from XI 3.0 sp 19 onwards such as AF_Modules/RequestResponseBean or AF_Modules/ResponseOnewayBean etc. or you can use BPM to have Sync/Async bridge or acknowledgments
Refer below link -- These are used for JMS adapter but you can use it for other adapters also.

Thus these adapters create the acknowledgment for the file adapter and trated as BE service.

QoS - EOIO in RFC and http/SOAP adapters
Hi all,
I need to have the QoS as EOIO in my interface where I am using RFC Sender adapter and HTTP/SOAP receiver adapter and using BPM Integration process.
I have seen in the adapter attributes that these 2 adapters support the EOIO. I don't know how to specify this service in the adapters.
Is there any special way of specifying this?
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

With the logging information at hand, most application and framework problems can be analysed remotely by system administrators without them having physical access to the device.

Converting QoS from EO to EOIO in Receiver JMS Adapter
Hello All -
We are currently working with SAP XI 3.0 SP12. Our scenario is something like this:
IDoc -> XI (BPM) -> JMS Adapter
The BPM splits up the incoming IDoc into multiple JMS messages.
The problem is that when the BPM sends the message to the JMS adapter the QoS changes from EOIO to EO. This essentially means that when the messages are written to the JMS Queues, there is no gurantee that they would be written in exactly the same order in which they are produced.
The requirement is to write the messages in exactly the same order in the target queues.
One solution is to capture the transport level acknoledgements and then send the next message from the BPM only on the receipt of the acknoledgement which takes a lot of time.
Is there any other mechanism to ensure the messages going out in an EOIO fashion.
AshishIts like this , i ve file -> bpm -> idoc scenario. 've configured EOIO as the QOS for both adapters. file adapter is configured to pick up a pattern , say *.abc.
The picking option is "By Date". Say there are 5 files in the directory before a particular polling interval which has about 5 sec time delay b/w them in their timestamp.
Now the file adpater picks the files in order , delivers it to ccBPM, i can see 5 diff ccBPM instances(diff workitem IDs).
Say, the third file has less data , the transformation happens faster in the 3rd ccBPM instance and so it delivers it to the idoc adapter vefore the 1st or 2nd one completes. So my order is lost.
Now , i tried setting "transport ack" in send step , but didnt help.Is there any other specific setting to be done ?

Need advice with routers (gaming, stability, QoS?)
Hi.I use Sky Broadband for gaming. Unfortunately, my housemate has about 4 devices on the go at once and being an ignoramus has no idea what they are doing half the time... His Xbox may be downloading a huge update for a game he doesn't play, his iPhone and laptop may be uploading a load of pointless information to the iCloud and he may be simultaneously downloading a HD stream on Sky of some programme he's barely watching cos he's looking at videos of cats on his phone. Meanwhile, I often get completely locked out and lose connection to servers. It's infuriating. -_- Rather than get frustrated about it, I figure it's time I got a decent router with QoS that prioritises the stability of my ping so that these inconveniences can be a thing of the past and he can get on with his aimless downloading without myself getting annoyed. Unless I am mistaken, the Sky routers are all incredibly average and have nothing that can help (correct?) so I'm guessing I need to buy and plug in a second router (with QoS presumably?) into the Sky Hub and setup QoS this way? Can anyone advise me on routers that may suit this purpose (preferably under £100) and how I would go about setting it up? Thanks in advance.Matt
An update from me. I bought the TP-Link AC1750 as recommended. Before installing it you need to download the latest firmware to your PC because it doesn't work without it. I used the disk to install it though I may have needed this information (I can't remember if it did it automatically or not but it's handy to have it in front of you just in case you need it): Username: [email protected]

VCI: 38 After installation go into your router (192.168.1.1 in browser, user/pw: admin) then system tools>firmware upgrade and install the firmware. The QoS works like a BEAST. Completely neutralizes annoying flatmates. You just have to give your PC a static IP then go into the 'Bandwidth Control' menu, allocate yourself priority 1 and guarantee yourself some medium-high download/upload speeds. I did, however, find the wifi still caused me issues - the 5Ghz was virtually useless through walls and the 2.4Ghz had too many neighbour's routers overlapping causing lag. My final step was to buy a set of POWERLINE ADAPTERS. TP-LINK TL-PA4020PKIT AV500 to be exact. Easy to install. Since the day these were installed I have not had 1 single lagspike. Not 1. If you're on Sky and a gamer, this is possibly the best setup to avoid lagspikes. It certainly is for me. The router cost about £95 and the adapters cost about £39. You might be able to find them cheaper if you look around though. (Sorry if this is patronising or not aimed at anyone specific, I'm just leaving it here for future googlers in a similar situation and looking for a fix to save them all the hours I spent googling to collect all this information). -

For example File adapters can only be used for file processing and if u want to invoke a file request from a webservice it is not posible.....likewise we can point it down.

Question: How do I use the security mechanisms of my JMS provider (such as encryption and client authentication)?
Answer: For the most part, you cannot use them at present. JMS does not specify an API for controlling and calling security functions, and therefore JMS cannot control them. In theory, it is possible for the JMS administered objects to be preconfigured with security attributes and created in an LDAP directory that the JMS adapter accesses using JNDI. For the most part, however, this solution is incomplete. It requires additional data (such as the client or server certificate) to be transferred frequently when the QueueConnectionFactory or the queue is created, using methods that are specific to the provider (because they are not specified by JMS, see above). In general, a normal JMS adapter does not recognize these methods.

we are trying to run two polycoms over WAN. One side is able to see the other while the other side cannot. The side that is unable to see the other has the following QoS setup on the WAN interface:

auto qos voip trustYour configuration is not from a WAN port but from a LAN port. Please note that just because the service provider hands you an Ethernet port, that does not mean you can use any old LAN switch to connect to it. The service provider is using Ethernet to keep their costs down but it is still a WAN port and requires a WAN interface on your terminating equipment to properly schedule and queue the traffic.
Examples of a WAN Ethernet (FastEthernet, GigabitEthernet) port are most any ISR router, a Catalyst Metro switch (i.e. 3750-METRO), the WAN blades on a 6500 switch (not LAN blades!), or the Ethernet WAN/Metro SPA adapters for a 6500/7600 SIP module.
Note that a LAN switch assumes high speed interfaces and not much of a speed mismatch between ports. A LAN port connected to a slow WAN will not be able to buffer anywhere close to amount of traffic that comes through the switch to this port and will cause a HOL (head of line) blocking scenario; and this assumes you setup the port speed and shaping/sharing parameters correctly.
A LAN switch port output buffers are measured in K and will handle 4 to 10 packets of bursting; on the other hand, a WAN port's output buffers are measured in M and will handle thousands of packets of burst.
The effects can be staggering. It is not uncommon for a service provider WAN/MAN to be terminated with a bunch of cheap LAN switches that drop upwards of 90% of the traffic destined for the WAN! Just because of lack of buffers on the output queue side and massive oversubscription between the LAN side and the WAN side, using a LAN port.
And we haven't even started talking about traffic shaping yet to match the speed of transmission from a WAN port to that of the contracted rate such that it doesn't exceed the speed on the receiving side.
Remember, regardless of the size of the WAN port (T1, E1, DS-3, OC-3, 10Mb, 100Mb, 1000Mb), the 'width' of the connection is serial and still only 1 bit wide. Just the rate of bits being sent per second is different.
The key concept that often gets lost is if you have a GigabitEthernet port on a LAN switch connected to a WAN or MAN in which you are purchasing 200Mb of service, you are, by definition, dropping 80% of the traffic in the service provider network (or at the ingress port to the service provider!). This is regardless of how 'busy' or utilized the GigabitEthernet link is. A single packet of data, say 500 bytes, will be sent out the GigabitEthernet port at 1 *billion* bits per second. Unfortunately, you may only have paid for 200 *million* bits per second as your contracted access to the service provider's network. Trust me, the service provider will deal with this discrepancy by policing 80% of your data to the bit bucket and they don't care what type of data it is.
So it doesn't matter how much data you are sending, a 1% utilized WAN connection using a LAN switch in this way could still be dropping 80% (or more) of the traffic!
A final note: Please don't be confused by most switch vendor's terminology regarding shaping or sharing of multiple limited output queue resources on their LAN switches, this is *NOT* the same thing as traffic shaping or long queues on a WAN router port or WAN/METRO switch port. This includes Cisco. This is why Cisco (and Juniper and Foundry, etc.) sell switches with METRO or WAN interfaces on them and why they are more expensive than LAN only switches. -
BT Infinity 2 - Bought 200Mbps powerline adapters ...
Hi!
I had BT Infinity 2 installed this week and was happy to see that I was getting 75Mbps down and 17Mbps up via ethernet cables. However, I really want a cableless solution. I bought a TP-Link TL-PA211KIT 200Mbps twin pack, had no problem setting it up, but my speed has dropped to 52Mbps down and 14.6Mbps up.
After looking at the diagnostic tool, I found that the quality was hovering between 140-150Mbps. So I have a couple of questions:
1. Is there anything I can do with these existing adapters in order to improve my speed?
2. Would buying 500Mbps adapters and using those instead allow me to get the full use of my connection?
I've tried moving the adapters around the house but I've not noticed a lot of difference. The computer is upstairs with one adapter and the other is downstairs, plugged into the mains right next to my hub. I'd really like to be able to make full use of what I'm paying for so I'd be grateful for a little advice.

Go to Solution.As you have found, unfortunately the connection synch speed of powerline adapters does not equate to their actual throughput. There is a lot of error correction overhead that means actual throughput is much less than synch.
I haven't been able to find a definitive conversion between synch speed and throughput for powerline adapters, I think because a lot depends upon how noisy your environment is. However you should be aware that going from 200 to 500Mbps adapters doesn't mean that your throughput wilI increase by 2.5 times.
That said inyour case it may be sufficient to transfer your full Infinity rate. I have found that 500Mbps Netgear adapters were capable of transferring at 72Mbps down / 16Mbps up between my downstairs router and my upstairs PC, but only after I fiddled with their QoS settings to prioritise the PC line over my smart TVs which also use adapters on the same LAN.
PS. The netgears were synching at about 450Mbps to achieve this throughput. -
Direction on safe power adapters for iPods from US to Travel in France
Hello, I searched other topics found the Apple power adapter plug for the ipod discussesd this topic (which I do already have), but it did not SPECIFICALLY say that it will convert from US (110v) to Euro - France (220) volt. All the instructions from available power adapters (non-Apple) specifically say 'not for use with stereo or musical equipment.'
Help ! Can I just plug in my Apple ipod power adapter INTO a standard 110v to 220v converter and not worry about problems? Do I need to look for a special voltage adapter that works between certain amps or voltage ranges?
Best Buy, Radio Shack, Travel Smith and Sharper Image were NO help.
Looking not to fry my 60GB video ipod during a month long trip to Europe..

Question Regarding QoS and Firewalls Rules
Hello experts, I hope a simple question for you today. I am working to elevate our outdated H323 traffic down a VPN tunnel we are only getting 600k throughput on.
Under "Networking --> QOS --> WAN QOS" I have configured the downstream and upstream bandwidth rates using the 85% rule. I have also created a bandwidth profile called VOIP using 128-256kbps with a priority of "High"
Under "Traffic Selector" I have created the profile using the VLAN 100 for the IP phones with the VOIP bandwidth profile.
My question, is this the correct configuration and I'm done? Or do I need to go further and create the same IPv4 rules in the firewall rules giving it a QoS Priority of "Minimize Delay"
Is there a way in SA540 to see the QOS statistics to see if they are working correctly? I appreciate your input as always experts!!It's about the relevance of the link. Cisco Jabber Client - QoS Config
Hi Guys,
I'll be deploying the new jabber client for a customer and i'm unsure of what QoS to configure on the switch ports for end users. Users will also have 7942 handsets, so if i configure auto qos voip cisco-phone, I doubt this will protect the voice/video for Jabber.
Has anyone got any config or tips they can share?

I already mention the TurboACL feature statement. With ACLs, fewer are faster, and how they ordered (especially without TurboACL) impacts CPU. How you order you class-maps, within a policy, and how the match statements are ordered will also have some impact on the CPU load. If buffers are being allocated/deallocated, that too will impact CPU loading. I assume CEF is enabled, but for some traffic, flow caching might decrease CPU load.Remember a software based router, like the 7200s, are, more or less, a computer that takes your configuration and determines what's to be done with every packet it "sees". The more your configuration requires for per packet analysis, the more load for each packet.There are whitepapers addressing high CPU load caused by "process switching", but what you posted appears to be mostly all interrupt processing, which is "fast path", or optimal, packet forwarding. There's not much you can normally do to improve against that, other than insuring your configuration is as optimal as possible for your needs (again, things like sequencing/ordering of statements).

i mean that my policy map is matching the traffic , but the matched traffic is not being enhancemend ??!!!
last about two weeks , the matched traffic of youtube was excellent and no interrupt durting the my rush hour.
i didnt change any thing, but my bw increased from 730 Mbps to 760Mbps ,
im un able to make sure that i need to chnage my platform to faster one.

after QOS it increase to 80-85 %

i want to tell you that i cant depend on NBAR , as an example , im matching the ips of videos of facebook , i cant depend on NBAR because it is https videos.
but in summary ,
my qos is matching well , but i have no real enhancement for my traffic.
did you face my issue before ???
i mean have you see like my problem ?
like my router platform with cpu over 80 % and 750Mbps , and matched qos without good result ??
note that i upgraded to iso 15 , but seems same issue !!!

How to apply Qos in the precedence of cache server
m in an isp and iwant to apply the QOS to enhance my network internet performance
actually i have two requests , i will start with showing brief topology about my network and start asking the questions .
here is the topology below :
from the topology above , my access is only on R1 which is BGP internet gateway router and R2 is my ISP router.
1- i want to apply Qos on R1 so that a subnet of 32 ips to have gurantee bandwidth of 30M .
assume the subnet is 10.20.30.0/27 that need to be bw gurantee .
2- i want the download traffic by idman or ftp on my Router R1 dont exceed 50 % of my total bw .
i mean that i have 450M bandwith from my isp , & sometimes we have a slow in browsing , so i want to enhance the browsing quality because its more important that downloading files from internet.
here is my two requests above , i dont know how it will work with the precedence of the cache server .
anyway , i will paste my config of router and i will replace my puplic ips with xxx for privacy .

How to change default FCoE QoS class - Nexus 5020
I see that on a Nexus 5020, the default FCoE QoS class is 50%. I am not using FCoE so I would like to adjust this value to 0%. I switch complains and says I can't change default values. How should I go about getting around this to eliminate the FCoE queue and give 100% BW to default? Thanks.

VoIP QoS for Site-to-Site Tunnel
Hi all,
I need some help with setting up QoS for VoIP between two Cisco ASA 5505 with Site-to-Site VPN.
There is no need for bandwith reservation, only DSCP 46 (EF) should be highest and DSCP 26 second highest queue and the rules should only apply to a site-to-site VPN.
Usually i try to configure the ASAs via ASDM and found out in the Cisco Documentations how to setup QoS for the DSCP bits with a Service Policy and how to set up QoS for a Site-to-Site VPN (Service Policy Rule -> Traffic Match). But how do i configure the QoS for a DSCP bit to only apply to a Site-to-Site Tunnel? And how do i configure different priorities for the two DSCP bits, is this defined by the order of Service Policies?
The QoS has to be enabled on both ASAs for the inside interface?
