Adc display port  to mini port connector

Anybody knows where can buy a ADC round side shaped display female port to new Macbook pro mini port connector?

I know monoprice sells mDP to DP cables if that's what you mean?

  • Mini Display Port connector for 2008 Mac Pro

I have a 2008 Mac Pro (with 2 x DVI connectors).  Is there a graphics card with Mini Display Port connector that I can just wack in and use a 27" Apple LED Cinema Display?

Which 27" display?  Current Thunderbolt model or previous mini-displayport model?
For mini-displayport connections look at the apple versions of the ATI Radeon HD 5770 and 5780 video cards.  Both have two mini-displayports and a dual link dvi port.  The 5770 requires one aux poer adapter cable while the 5780 requires two.
At present there is no way to connect the current 27" TB display to mini-displayport.  Only to another TB display or the 2011 computer's apple makes.

  • DVI display port/ADC display port bottleneck!

My G5 dual came with ONE DVI display port and ONE ADC display port. I wish to add another monitor for editing purposes. My current monitor is an NEC multi-sync, which uses up the DVI port...leaving the ADC port empty and useless.
    1. Am I forced to purchase an Apple Cinema Display?
    2. Would it be more frugal to purchase another video card?
    3. Can I make this work even though I have bought every 'adaptor' under the sun and the ADC port is still useless?
    4. It there a 3d party adaptor that can use the ADC port to use an NTSC (television) device as 2nd monitor?

    Hey U-dog,
I went to see Mr. Whooppee at Dr. Botts and ordered the shiny new DVI Extractor II (sounds like I'm back in the hackin biz) and again, I'll hold Sweet Polly or Breezly bruin hostage if this (last attempt at adaptors[sold for g-4s]) DOGgone thang don't work. So keep an eye out at WDOG or the local tundra if you REALLY care about those toons!
    fingers crossed,

  • Mini-DVI to mini-Display port connector?

Is Apple releasing a cable that connects mini-dvi to mini-display port?
My company today told me that I will get a new Macbook Pro with a mini-display port built in, but I ordered a cinema display directly from Apple.
I plan to connect the new Macbook Pro to the new cinema display (so I can watch all my TV shows in GLORIOUS HD AND IN C.O.L.O.U.R) but I also want to connect my old black Macbook, and my Mac Pro to the new cinema display. (so other members in my family can use the display on their own macbooks when I'm not using it)
This cable will REALLY help, otherwise, I feel like I just bought a new display for myself.

Apple just today has announced free licensing of their MDP technology so that third party companies can incorporate it themselves as well as build things like adapters. I have been saying since this whole controversy started, that Apple would never change their entire product line to MDP and effectively orphan an entire legacy group from upgrading with Apple products, especially in this economy. So before this thread ets ugly, read the article from Ars Technica:

  • Macbook receiving AM radio via display port connector'

A few weeks ago, I discovered that when my Mini Displayport to VGA connector was plugged in, I heard a buzz through my speakers. It didnt bother me that much, so I just dealt with it. However, today I was plugging my external speakers in, and when the connector was about half way in.. I started to hear audio that I knew wasnt on my computer. Turns out it was commentary on a college basketball game. I started to listen some more, and discovered that it was 1530am. Seeing as I use just a standard set of 5.1 computer speakers... I found this to be extremely odd, so I figured id share this with everyone. Any ideas why this may happen?

Problems like that can be tricky to track down and eliminate but this type of device often provides a solution without ever finding out for sure the root of the problem:

Depending on what type of connections are on the speakers you own, you may need to purchase one or more simple cable converters that go from the RCA-type plug interface of the linked device to a normal, 3.5 mm stereo mini-point connection.
Another thing that might work would be a simple choke appled to the audio cable between the Mac and the speakers:

  • Blue Screen and Mini Display Port Screens

I have a Macbook Air 2011 model, it will connect fine to any Thunderbolt displays but as soon as it's plugged into a screen with the mini display port connector, the laptop will get stuck on a blue screen until it's disconnected, and as far as I know it should be compatible with both types
Usually a PRAM reset will resolve it, but it hasn't and attempted an SMC reset plus a Firmware update, no change either
    What else can I try?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
If you experience a black screen, or otherwise have an unusable picture after changing to some resolutions, try resetting the NVRAM first.
If you continue to experience the issue, startup the Mac in Safe Mode.  Delete the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist file and restart the Mac.
If the problem persists you may have a bad adaptor.

  • How can I use my ADC apple cinema display on my iMac 2006 with mini display port?

I got this new screen on eBay for £20 and its an old ADC display and to my annoyance I found there isn't a way to hook it up to my iMac with a mini dvi port . So I was wondering if there is a work around that the community has come up with or if its just best to sell it ( bearing in mind that the next best screen from apple that I know will work is around £80 on eBay)
    Thanks, Jonny

You would need a DVI to ADC adapter, image below, search Ebay to find one in your area.

  • Connect MacBook Pro 3,1 to hdmi tv via mini-display port

How do I connect my MacBook Pro 3,1 (2007) to an hdmi port on a LCD TV using the mini-display
port on my Mac?  I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
I have connected a mini-display to hdmi connector into an HDMI port on the TV.  I've watched lots of youtube videos
on how to do this (apparently with newer Macs), but when I go to 'system preferences/displays', I have no options like 'extended TV'
or 'mirroring' and I have no resolution choices with a 'p' behind it.  I've tried 'command-F1' as someone
suggested to make it 'mirror' and nothing happens.

  • USB-C to mini display port and thunderbolt apple displays

I currently have a 24 in late 2008 Apple Cinema Display connected to a 2008 MacBook.  This particular display has a three pronged connector (MagSafe, mini DisplayPort, conventional USB).  I am thinking of upgrading to the new MacBook but am concerned about the compatibility with my display.  Will there be an adapter or solution to connect the USB-C port to the three pronged connector of the apple Cinema Display?  I see that USB-C port has support for hdmi, VGA, and standard display port but I see nothing about Mini DisplayPort or MagSafe.  There is also no mention of thunderbolt dislay connectivity (for newer adopters of Apple displays).  I understand innovation often comes at a price but it seems like a fairly large oversight to potentially obsolete fairly expensive larger apple Mini DisplayPort and thunderbolt devices for people who are looking to upgrade.  This will certainly factor into my decision in purchasing new apple laptops in the future, especially if the standard inevitably moves toward USB-C on all devices.  Thanks for any help!

You can connect your 24" display with the Apple HDMI adapter
    <http://store.apple.com/us/product/MJ1K2AM/A/usb-c-digital-av-multiport-adapter>
followed by a HDMI to Mini DisplayPort converter
    <http://www.kanex.com/xd>
The MacBook USB-C connector does support DisplayPort, so there may be a future adapter that would avoid the HDMI conversion.
You won't be able to use the MagSafe cable.

  • Belkin Mini Display Port to HDTV not working anymore with MBP

I have a MBP V 10.7.5 and I was using a Belkin Mini Display Port to HDTV. This was working perfectly a few months ago and now when I try to connect, My Mac screen will turn blue for a minute but the TV will read "No Signal". There is nothing wrong with the cord and I'm afraid that an update on my computer messed things up. Does anyone have any idea whats wrong or how I can fix this without getting a new cord? Thanks!

    Hello,
Using the VGA connector, what resolution is set on the Monitor?
Is there any input choices on the Monitor for port or source?

  • Why does my mini display port to hdmi adapter cut out intermittently?

I have a MacBook Air 2012. Using a bestbuy mini display port to hdmi adapter connecting to a sony led tv.  The picture and sound transmits to the tv, but the signal would cut out after 10-15 seconds and it would last about 3-5 seconds and then the picture would come back again.

to me something happened similar to me but after removing the connector and put it back was solved, and now to use it with my TV I have to make sure both are well connected to both the Mac and plug the HDMI cable and adapter tv .
I hope that solves your problems resolved as mine
    Blessings.
    Bendiciones.

  • Mini display port to DVI not working

The mini display port of my late 2009 27" iMac is not working with DVI.  Using the same monitor, DVI cable, and mini display to DVI adapter, I can connect my Air with no problems.  So the monitor, adapter, and cable are fine.  I can also connect my iMac to the same monitor using a VGA cable and a mini display to VGA adapter.  So the problem clearly seems to be with my iMac.  Has anyone had similar problems?  Any advice?  I think the image quality of DVI is substantially better than VGA so I really would like to get this working.  But I don't think the difference is worth carrying my 27" monster into the Apple Store. I could buy a mini display to HDMI adapter, but I would rather not buy yet another adapter (I think I have about 15 already with my various idevices) - and it might not work either. The DVI setup is simple and really should be working.  I bought a monitor and also a HD TV with DVI ports specifically for this.  Thanks.

Using the VGA connector, what resolution is set on the Monitor?
Is there any input choices on the Monitor for port or source?

  • Connecting Cinema Display with mini display port to macbook pro with thunderbolt port

I am trying to connect a 27" cinema display (2010) that has a mini display port cable out of the back, into my macbook pro (2013) with thunderbolt ports.  The mini display port cord fits into the thunderbolt port on the Macbook Pro, however the macbook pro does not detect the cinema display and the cinema display does not have any picture on the screen.  The USB plugs in fine and sound comes out, and I have the adapter for the magsafe to magsafe 2 and that works fine, it just the actual display.  Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hello mmholt,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there’s no video on an Apple Cinema Display that’s connected to your MacBook Pro, and you’re wondering if the configuration is supported. It is supported, take a look at the article linked below for more information.
Thunderbolt ports and displays: Frequently asked questions (FAQ) - Apple Support
    1. Can I connect a Mini DisplayPort monitor or monitor using a Mini DisplayPort adapter to a Thunderbolt port on my Thunderbolt-equipped Mac?
Yes. A Mini DisplayPort display or a display connecting with a Mini DisplayPort to VGA, DVI, or HDMI adapter will work just like it was connecting to a Mini DisplayPort connector when plugging in directly to the Thunderbolt connector on your Apple computer. • Mini Display ports - thunderbolt compatibility?

I have a 3.33 Ghz 6 Core Mid 2010 Mac Pro with 2 mini display ports.
    I'm looking to buy a 27" Monitor.
If I buy one of the (now old) NON-Thunderbolt Apple Cinema Displays, I can assume it will work with my machine. However, will the Mini Display Ported Monitor work with a Thunderbolt equiped Mac at some time in the future, when my present pride & joy is past it?

What does the Apple 27" offer that you want or need or more importantly, do, that the one you are looking at cannot? You want someone to predict and speculate on future product support?
    What is known -
Thunderbolt (originally codenamed Light Peak[1]) is an interface for connecting peripheral devices to a computer via an expansion bus. Thunderbolt was developed by Intel and brought to market with technical collaboration from Apple Inc. It was introduced commercially on Apple's updated MacBook Pro lineup on February 24, 2011, using the same port and connector as Mini DisplayPort
The Intel and Apple implementation of the port adapter integrates PCI Express data and DisplayPort data, allowing them to be carried over the same cable simultaneously. A single Thunderbolt port supports hubs as well as a daisy chain of up to seven Thunderbolt devices; up to two of these devices may be high-resolution displays using DisplayPort.[7]
Thunderbolt is based on the Mini DisplayPort connector developed by Apple.
This is electrically identical to "normal" DisplayPort connectors, but uses a smaller connector that is more suitable for use on laptops and other consumer devices. It is expected that Thunderbolt's use of this connector will drive wider acceptance.
Because the PCIe bus does not carry video data, it is unclear whether a standalone PCIe card could offer a Thunderbolt port. The Intel Thunderbolt Technology Brief does not give a conclusive answer.[2]
Intel disclosed documentation where video stream is sent to a dual-thunderbolt controller, with the video stream being only sent to one of the Thunderbolt Port, giving the assumption that video stream is not mandatory on Thunderbolt implementation.
Thunderbolt can be implemented on PCIe graphics cards, which have access to DisplayPort data and PCI express connectivity, or on the motherboard of new devices, such as the MacBook Pro.[7][21][38]
Thunderbolt controllers on the host and peripherals fold the PCIe and DisplayPort data together and unfold them after they exit the cable.[2]
