ADC to VGA adapters

Anyone know a retailer of distributor still selling these....besides Ebay? I placed an order with CDW for one of these cables and Geffin, the manufacturer has discontinued it and is no longer selling them either direct or through anyone else. There are only 3 makes of these as far as I know of: the one made by Apple, one by Dr. Bott and Geffins' version. I've done internet searches and I can't find any sellers of this cable. They pop up on Ebay now and again but the prices are very high and the bidding fierce! I need one to run dual VGAs for my Pro Tools rig. Any help would be most welcome!

Have you checked out this dealer or (if desperate) this always-overpriced Mac retailler for current availability?

  • Searching adc to vga adaptor

I'm trying to connect my second Monitor port to a VGA Display and am searching for the correct adaptor.
I found solutions on the net, but rather than paying more fore shipping than the connector is worth, I'm looking for someone who has one lost in some box he could spare.
I'm ok with spending some money on this, but then more than 50€ would be over the limit.
I'm resident on Mallorca (Balearic Islands - Spain).
Thanks in advance for any help provided.

You will need a ADC to DVI adapter
    <http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F2E9142-WHT-Apple-Monitor-Adapter/dp/B000067RLH/re f=dpcp_ob_title0>
    or ADC to VGA adapter
    <http://www.amazon.com/COMPUCABLE-ADC-VGA-Adapter-Cable/dp/B000071A8Q>
ADC to VGA adapters have become very scarce. If you have to use a VGA display, you can use a DVI to VGA adapter on the computer's DVI port. You can then connect your DVI display to the ADC port with the ADC to DVI adapter. (A DVI to VGA adapter won't work connected to a ADC to DVI adapter, since the ADC to DVI adapter doesn't pass the analog video signals needed for VGA.)

  • I have a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, then I purchased 3 VGA adapters: a VGA to HDMI, VGA to Component, and VGA to RCA. When I hook them up to my TV (I've tried multiple TVs) they do not detect a display, even when I click Detect Displays.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a solution for this?  The only other Mini DP I found was a HDMI connection.  I want to make sure I can connect to not only TV's via HDMI, Component or RCA, but also projectors (some of which may be older requiring a Component or RCA connection).
    I'm using this Mini DisplayPort:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MTA4NDU0NjA
These are the VGA Adapters I'm using:
    VGA to HDMI:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001OLCHJ6
    VGA to Component:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P3Q0YW
    VGA to RCA:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Y7T5UU
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

None of the three lower adapters pictured in your post will do you any good with your MBP.
    1. The VGA-HDMI adapter does the reverse of what you want: it yields VGA output from HDMI input. The opposite is not possible; a VGA input does not contain all the information necessary to create an HDMI output. You'll have to get a direct mini-Displayport-to-HDMI adapter instead.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/Moshi_Mini_DisplayPort_to_HDMI_Adapt er?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
    2. VGA-Component: Lots of posters here when the MDP-equipped MBs and MBPs first came out tried adapters like this one with no success. What does work with the MDP (and a VGA adapter) is a converter box like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Startech-Component-YPbPr-Video-Converter/dp/B000G6Y0S6
    3. VGA-Composite: This doesn't work with MBPs either. For Composite or S-Video output, you need a converter box like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/PC-To-TV-Video-Converter/dp/B001CJOLBW/ref=pd_cp_e_2
    or this:
    http://www.startech.com/AV/Converters/Video/High-Resolution-PC-VGA-to-TV-Convert er-with-Remote-Control~VGA2NTSCPRO
These converter boxes will work fine in combination with your Apple MDP-VGA adapter.

  • Mini Displayport to VGA Adapters Keep Braking

    Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem as me. I have managed to go through 3 Mini Displayport to VGA Adapters in a very short space of time. The last one only lasted two days. My Macbook Pro is only sat at a desk and there doesn't appear to be any significant strain on the cable or adapter.
I have tried using different vga cables and a different monitor but it is definatly the adapter.
I was wondering if the Mini Displayport could cause something to short out in the adapter itself.
I also have a Mini Displayport to HDMI cable going to my TV which has been working fine for ages.
I was wondering whether it is better to get a straight Mini Displayport to VGA cable instead of an adapter. I can't seem to find any sort ones (about 30cm) any suggestions?
    Cheers
    Dave

JK had a very good suggestion. Try using a different VGA cable.
If you try it and it doesn't work or if you don't have another to try with, you might want to consider exchanging it for another one at best buy, it is always possible that you got a bad one.

  • Mini display to VGA adapters. Will older ones/non-Apple ones work?

(MacBook Pro 17", 2 years old)
What's the 411 on mini display-to-VGA adapters? I'm not particularly thrilled about the prospect of paying $30 from Apple. Will the older "roundy" style adapters work just as well? Ebay is flooded with 'em for cheap. What about the aftermarket ones? Or are Apple's adapters proprietary (I wouldn't put it past them if theirs were!)?
    Thanks-

    Hello,
I have a weird problem with my Macbook pro 13" bought in sep 09. I have connected my Samsung HDTV 720p via mini display of Macbook pro 13 to DVI adapter n thn DVI to HDMI cable to HDMI port of TV.
When the display cable is unplugged, i am able to surf the internet and watch videos, as soon as I connect the mini display port to macbook pro, iternet freezes.
I even tried to move my macbook far away from the HDTV, but it never helped.
I noticed, macbook was connected to wifi in this situation but internet was not working, even i tried to ping my Netgear wifi router, it could not ping. and turned off the Airport and again turned it on (while the Display cable was connected to HDTV), it was not accepting password for my wifi router.
I dont know what is the problem, i tried all I knew to solve but still helpless.
Anybody please help me get this resolved.

  • ADC to VGA

On my Power Mac G5 (June 2004 with ATI Radeon 9600 XT), I'm trying to add a second CRT monitor, and I've been having terrible luck finding anyone that still carries an ADC to VGA adaptor.
I do have a spare DVI to VGA adaptor. So, would a ADC to DVI adaptor to use in conjunction with the DVI to VGA adaptor work at all? Has anyone tried this?
    Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks!!

    Thanks japamac,
I assumed as much (otherwise there wouldn't be so many people in such dire need of an adc to vga adaptor).
Thanks for the link too...that was the only adaptor even potentially available that I had found prior to my post. I had heard (read) so much about the Dr. Bott and Gefen (sp?) solutions...and next to nothing about the Belkin...I wasn't quite sure about it. Any experience with it? Worth a shot I suppose...
    thanks again for your help!

  • Where to buy a ADC to VGA adaptor

Im looking for one to pick up at a store. Does anyone know who might carry a ADC to VGA adaptor?

I'm on the same hunt. Today I decided to make use of a second monitor kicking around and rearranged my desk. Then I went to plug it in... No such luck. What's the point of this? What's wrong with two dvi ports, besides the point that adc meant another few bucks spent on accessories.
Anyway, I found one here for the cheapest price I've seen so far.
    good luck.

  • ADC to VGA Extractor / Cable Wanted Urgently

    Hi there
Im after a ADC to VGA cable or adaptor so I can use 2 old screens on my 2005 G5, Ive looked everywhere with no real success, does anyone know where I can buy one. There's one on ebay at the moment but its got like 6 days to go and I may not be around to bid on it when the auction closes. Does anyone have one they want to sell to me or know a company where I can buy one from in the UK?
    Thank you

    Thanks for your reply.
I have found one now on a website brand new, very expensive though.
Nice of Apple to decide to drop them and not give us lot who bought the G5's with this type of connection any future alternative!
    Thanks again

  • Encore WT8-A-102 - Working VGA Adapters

After trying a few HDMI to VGA adapters in shops I have found one which works online. (With the latest BIOS 1.60 and recently released platform drivers), thought it might be useful to others looking for one to have a list of confirmed working adapters.
This TMART one (Micro HDMI to VGA Adapter with Audio Cable White) works (~7 delivered)
(Id also like to make this not a question.. but cant see the option to do that anywhere)

  • G5 wont mount DVI or ADC, only VGA monitors

I have a g5 that has a dual display DVI/ADC card; It wont show anything on a new Apple Cinema DVI display, but it WILL show up on a VGA monitor with a DVI-VGA adapter.
I tried the appple cinema display on another mac and it worked fine, then i tried swapping the card with another g5 and the same thing happened, so i think its a software setting on my g5.
anyone have any idea to get this apple cinema display working?
    g5   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I am using an ADC 23" Cinema Display with my G5. I had to get an ADC-DVI adapter to connect it to the G5. But it works fine. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 6600 graphics card. Maybe you need an update to your graphics driver. Have you tried the Apple site for a later version? Or the Manufacturer?

  • ADC to VGA, I think?

I have an old G4 Cube that I no longer use. I bought a monitor that I think is called a studio display (not the flat panel cinema display, but big and heavy like an old TV). It has what I believe is an ADC connection that draws power from the G4 Cube, so it has no independent power source. Is it possible to connect this monitor to the VGA port on a newer PC laptop using some kind of adaptor? It would need to provide power to the monitor somehow. Does anyone know if such a thing exists?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

The Apple DVI to ADC adapter will not work with a CRT display.
    <http://store.apple.com/us/product/M8661LL/B?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=MjE0NTg4NA>
"to an ADC-based Apple flat panel display"
The adapter uses DVI-D, so does not pass through the analog video signals needed for a CRT, and it does not provide enough power for the Apple CRT display.
The Gefen adapter does use DVI-I, so should provide the analog video needed for a CRT display.
    <http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=1203>
It's power supply, though, is not designed for a CRT display, and will get VERY hot. You could replace it with another supply. 24-28 VDC, 5 Amps. (The Gefen adapter may be hard to find. They were discontinued years ago.)

  • Solution how to deal with cheap HDMI cables and some VGA adapters.

I've purchased cheap HDMI cable which I couldn't force to work. Basically after plugging in the screen on my mac blink blue for a second, but then everything is going back to normal, and screen seems to be not recognized. I checked the cable with my friend's mac, and it was working just fine, so I thought hey something is wrong with my mac, either the MiniDisplay Port or Lion (10.7) has some bug (friend is working on (10.6).
I was experimenting with VGA adapter and it showed that MiniDisplay Port is fine, unfortunatelly it is painfull because quality is lower, and audio has to be plugged in separately. Accidently I've plugged in HDMI while audio was connected regular way and it started. So I figured out that probably grounding in those cheap cable is not sufficient for some macs. So step, by step solution:
    1. Plug in HDMI cable to your TV
    2. Switch TV to the right setting (display given HDMI port)
    3. Connect audio cable to your TV
    4. Connect audio cable to your MAC
    5. Connect HDMI cable to your mac.
    6. Image should appear on your TV, you can change resolution if you like
    7. To enable sound on TV go to System Preferences, choose Sound, Output tab, and choose your HDMI connected TV.
While testing my VGA adapter which was working fine but I never could make it work with my Panasonic TV, I found a way around. First you have to connect to regular monitor, or TV which is working, and then switch to TV. The reason why it is not working straight is probably to high resolution that mac is trying with this TV. In points:
    1. Plug VGA adapter to monitor or TV that you know it is working.
    2. Plug adapter to your mac
    3. With adapter connected to mac switch VGA cable to your panasonic plasma tv.
I hope this soultions will help some of you.
    Enjoy!

Well, I got mine directly from the Apple Store in Amsterdam and I got the most expensive one they had.. iwire.
Still stopped working after 4 weeks! (In Holland you have only 14 days to bring back stuff)
    so careful what you say.

  • Windows 7 Bootcamp and Thunderbolt to VGA Adapters for External Displays MacBook Pro i5?

Is it possible to connect an external moniter to a MacBook Pro using a Thunderbolt to VGA adapter in Windows 7 (professional)? I have tried and tried, when booting, both moniters (both laptop and external) show the "Starting Windows" page, but the external blacks out on the user selection screen. That gives me hope... is there a driver out there that will let me use the external display in Windows 7?
    MacBook Pro
    i5, 4gig, 750gig.
    Windows 7 Pro
    Mac OSX Lion
    LG Flatron Wide
DisplayPort to VGA adapter (not apple brand, purchased on eBay).
    Thanks.

You shouldn't require a driver.  I would try booting as usual, then plugging in your external display.  In windows, you can hit "command-P" to toggle between your external display options (mirror, extend, etc.).  Once you do that, you should see the new display show up.

  • Iphone and vga adapters

anyone know of a good vga adapter (if any) that can connect to the iphone so i can present my powerpoints slides in stead of using a computer....will the new iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter work with the iphone....do u know of anyone who has tried this accessory.

Video out on the iPhone will only work with videos. So if you had your presentation as a video then you could play it but that would be it. Is there any way that the iPhone/iPod component or RCA Cable would work with the projector or monitor?
As far as the iPhone working with iPad accessories, I don't know, but I have a feeling that it will not work.
