Adcice on Guitar Plug in

Hi!
The Guitar amp pro is OK!, but I´m struggling to get a decent heavy metal sound. It´s either too muddy or rattling/not coherent. I´m looking at Waves GTR, but it´s a bit expensive. Any alternatives... I need to buy and download tonight.

How are you guys using Trash? Before or after GAP - ie., using it as more of a stomp box type effect before or... I'm always on the lookout for getting the best hard rock / metal tone I can outside of mic'n my Marshall cab (which I can't do here in the apartment unfortunately...). I think there's something to be said about mic'n a cab and pushing some air - something I feel that most amp sims really miss out on (IMHO).
Anyone had any experience with Amplitube 2 yet? Something I definitely would like to look into.

DvForge mic plug and guitar plug

I just bought both the mic plug and guitar plug USB devices from DVForge. Their website made them sound pretty handy (close to no latency, better than CD quality recording), and I read no bad reviews.
Trouble is...they don't work. The mic plug gives me very quiet recording with hiss and horrible peaks. And the guitar plug gives me almost nothing at all.
Have I bought a pair of lemons? Or is something set up wrong? I'm using a sony F-VX650A mic, and a bog-standard semi-acoustic guitar. I notice that the mac recognises the device as "C-Media USB Headphone set" - whatever the **** that is.
Any ideas?

I'm a turkey. Just the input levels in system preferences. They work fine. Duh.

Fm transmition problem when guitar plugged in garage Band !

i m having a curious problem when i plug my guitar in GB, i interfere with a Turkish radio ... it's like my guitar is an antenna and i don't know where it comes from... so when i play, i have a radio as background sound... and when i cut my volumes from the radio it is still playing on the background ...
can anyone help me ??

my first suspect would be the guitar cable. make sure you're using good quality shielded cable.

Guitar Plugged in Audio interface but no effect sound

is coming out.. I can see activity when I hit the strings but whatever setting I pick there is no change in my guitar sound.. I have changed the audio/midi prefer...to my audio interface but no luck...can someone help me...Im sure im leaving out a step..

The usage of the iRig can be harmful to the Headset Jack of the iPhone? (Cause, technically we are using a simple adaptor for Guitar Plug to the Headset Jack without changing the dBz)

I'm not specialist on the subject, but I have a little experience about sound equipment and that is a question that came up to my mind.
I like my iPhone 4S and I love to play guitat, but I'm not sure where join both in play can be a good idea or not. Instruments inputs (dB) normally aren't compatible with microphone input (dB) and If both were put togheter in play without any other equipment to make the change between them, It can be harmful to the input one - in these case the iPhone...
So, I'd like to listen some ideas. If there is someone with more information that can help me with this issue I'd be greatful

as far as I know iRig is a simple adapter, it does not change or ballance the difference between the dB frequency of microphone and guitar...

M-Audio Black Box Interface. Acoustic guitar. No sound on monitor or on playback. Tried every setting known to man, except the one that must work. I appear to be recording - green lines in upper left. Can hear it on headphones plugged into M-Audio. ?

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

How do i get the sound to play while the guitar is still plugged in?

I have my guitar plugged into the headphone input. When I play the GB track it doesn't sound unless the guitar is unplugged.

What have you set as the audio output? Make sure you pick the internal speakers and not the headphones.

I just purchased logic studio. After making my guitar tracks, I then configured for my axiom controller, now I can get any plugged in guitar sounds to work (plugging them in to m-audio 610. What am I doing wrong.

What do you guys suggest for playing guitar thru my Macbook Air? I use guitar pro software to learn tabs but I would like to be able to play along thru the computer. thanks

I used to play my guitar thru my PC using a line 6 Guitar port, Then I could play along with Guitar Pro tabs or MP3's. Now I have the Guitar Pro software on my Mac Air and I neeed an interface (which I can get at the Appple store- guitar plug to USB) but I neeed a suggestion for what software to run as an amp simulator, maybe line 6 is the best or maybe there are others I should check out. I know there are guitar "apps" for Ipads etc but this is a Mac. BTW I did not like the guitar sounds produced by Garageband. Thanks

I'm using GJABB with Logic Express 7.2.3 and have no problems.
However, I haven't started messing around with the modulation wheel yet which is pretty important in this libary since it controls volume. The sounds are great, though. I've just raised the mod wheel on each track to get the basic arrangement done, then I'll try the mod wheel for expression.
One thing about this library is that it pretty much forces you to do single horn lines since each patch is monophonic (like the real instrument). It does produce pretty nice results that way. I haven't tried upping the polyphony as I like the results this way.

I am unable to get sound using apogee jam with my guitar. I can see input levels but no sound. What step am I missing?

I think I have done something wrong. I used my Apogee Jam on a guitar project with several audio tracks in Logic Pro 9. And while the Apogee Jam still was connected, I switched to another project with only instrument tracks (synths). I forgot to change the "Built In Input". After I did this, my guitar sounds like crap when I try to use Apogee Jam in the same guitar project, or also if I create a new project. I use Guitar Rig 5 (Native Instruments) as my guitar plug-in. But the guitar sounds strange even if I don´t assign Guitar Rig.
Can somebody help me?

IK iRig stomp no sound from guitar

I cannot get my IK iRig stomp to produce output from my guitar. I have my iPhone 5 and my guitar plugged into my iRig stomp and am using my headphones. The guitar signal from the iRig stomp does not play through my headphones. I can play the demos in the Amplitube app, I can play my music library through my iRig stomp, but I cannot get anything when I play my guitar. I wasn't getting the warning pop-ups so I deleted and re-added the app. Then the warning pop-ups came up, but still no sound from my guitar. I've changed the pedal and amp volume in the app. I've adjusted the volume on that iRig itself. I've disconnected everything and plugged everything back in in the order recommended by the IK tech support. I plugged everything in in various orders and I still cannot get my guitar to play anything through the iRig stomp. I've changed the cable connecting my guitar to the iRig stomp, the cable connecting my iPhone 5 to the iRig stomp and used both headphones and speakers. I've adjusted the volume on my guitar. My guitar is a brand new (literally taken out of the box 3 days ago) Ibanez AEL207 that plays perfectly through an amp. Nothing works!! I've read in another forum that a user reset his phone to default settings and everything worked. I am not willing to do that because I am currently deployed and do not have a computer to save or add my music and videos to. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, me too. I happened after an upgrade to Garage Band 1.2. Before the upgrade things were working fine.

How REC ENABLE several tracks? As well as copy plug from one strip to next?

Gee, I didn't know I could fit both questions in the threat title, but there they are.
1) How to REC ENABLE DUPLICATE AUDIO TRACKS, I thought it was command shift, but tried that as well as ctl shift, alt-shift, etc, and the track hilights but as soon as I click REC it jumps to that one track and selects that.
2) how to copy a channel insert of plug in (DRUMS MODULE, GUITAR SIM) from one to another while keeping it on the original track?
Also, as some may know, I get this HUI Error, and do not know what to do. I looked in preferences setup and do not see it listed. I do use MACKIE FIREWIRE interface and believe HUI is their control panel..

Hold the shift key down to record enable an audio
track and an audio instrument track at the same
time.
But if you are trying to record enable two audio
tracks, they each need to be assigned to a different
input. In other words, only one track can have "Input
1".
As to copying plug-ins from one track to another,
this can be done from the mixer page, or the
environment, or the audio configuration window. Hold
down the Apple key, the curser turns into a hand.
Then hold down the Apple key AND the option key, to
copy/drag a plug-in to another track.
Someone else will have to answer the HUI question. I
haven't seen that before...
Oh man,,,,,,ok, here is the deal,,,,I have a guitar plugged into HI-z High quality firewire interface, channel 2, the idea was to open a few instances of say Amplitude 2 or Guitar Rig and select different amps. I love Logic more so than say SX, but in SX this can be done.
Is there a work around?
Will check out the corrupt file and get back to that...

Direct input guitar latency issue

So I have a brand new iMac 20" 2.66 GHZ /4Gb ram and an M-audio firewire 410. I have my guitar plugged direct and there is a delay in the monitor. If I match my guitar volume it sounds like slap delay. It is really annoying and I would like to know what I need to do to fix it. It is the same deal if I use a mic. HElp!@!#%!!

Hi,
first, you have to understand what latency is. Latency is not only the latency of the Audio Interfaces A/D Converters, but the whole chain of signal flow and processing from input to output.
So, when you plug your guitar into an amp with cabinet, the chain is pretty short. Almost light speed That's because nearly all circuits in an amp are analog. The biggest latency you'll get with this setup is the time the sound takes to travel from the speaker to your ears.
Now you play through a computer - and maybe through some awsome plugins that will make your guitar sound like B.B.'s Lucille itself. There the latency is:
1st: A/D Converters. Some are faster, some slower. But most modern Interfaces, even the simple "audio in" plug of your mac, are fast enough so that you won't hear much of a delay. You will hear it, but it will be very, very, very short. It may be longer, of course, if your buffer size is bigger. Set the buffer to 256 or lower. Try 128 or evenlower - but maybe thats the point where logic starts to huff and puff.
2nd: Now comes the big part: The channelstrip in logic with all it's plugins&gizmos. Let's say: Guitar Amp pro. Let's say: Reverb. Add a compressor and a channel EQ and maybe another one of your choice. The faster your computer is, the faster the signal will make it's way through all this stuff, but nevertheless it is a "long and winding road", since the signal has to be digitally processed. So if you play your guitar through logic with even only some plugins, you'll hear a significant latency, which might sound like a slap delay or tape delay.
3rd: Ahh - thats not even all. Maybe Logic also has to synchronize with some other tracks, plugins in the main channelstrip, busses and so on. Of course, there is a "low latency" button which turns off the most time-hungry plugins, but don't expect miracles.
So, if you want to record your guitar and want to hear it 1:1 as you play, don't use software monitoring (don't listen to the logic output of your guitar), but use a hardware monitoring. Most Interfaces have a balance knob where you can quickly mix the output from direct monitoring to computer output as you want. Don't know if the M-Audio has this feature, though.
Or, for recording, just turn off all plugins and make sure only the tracks are activated you really need to hear.

Demo plug-in keeping logic from launching. HELP!

I can't get Logic Pro 7.2 to launch. It gets stuck on an Antares avox throat
demo that I installed months ago. It was never authorized and expired but I never trashed it. I thought I might buy it and get authorization but it's not worth $250. to me. I tossed the old versions and tried to load a new demo but there must be a pref file somewhere that says the demo has expired so I can't get the ten day trial time to trash the demo from my plug-ins manager.
Am I going to have to reinstall Logic or is there a way to get to the Plug-in
Manager list and delete avox throat without launching Logic?
G5 Dual 2.0 Mac OS X (10.4.5) Logic Pro 7.2

I did another search and took all the instances of avox out
of the plugins folder which worked but now I'm having trouble with other authorized plugs like Virtual Guitar 2.
It seems that sometime they will snag and keep Logic from launching and even crash it but if I relaunch the plugin search continues apparently beyond the culprit plugs and continues. I guess I'll have to reinstall Virtual Guitar 2.
This will be the third time. Maybe they will come out with a fix for what ever the problem is. Yeah, right! Steinberg is almost as bad as Liquid when it comes to support. I sent Liquid a somewhat angry note about their Liquid Guitar
plug not being advertised as if it would do more than it does and I have yet to get a reply automated or otherwise.

Cant hear my guitar playing

I have my electric guitar plugged via a M Audio Firewire Solo Audio Interface.
When I add a guitar track in GB, I cant hear what I am playing. I can see the volume recording bars move when I strum, but I cant get any output. I have monitoring On, all volumes are up, but no audio
Atrangely enough when I use Logic, I can hear fine.
What up with Garageband?
