Add a face button turned grey

Would anyone have a solution...
I recently had an electrical shutdown while importing photos in iPhoto (9.6), on my computer (using Mac OS 10.10.1). When I started my computer again, iPhoto asked for rebuilding my database, which I did. Since then, on all my pictures, the new as the old ones, I can not add a face, the "add a face" button is grey. In addition, on my old pictures onto which I already added a face, the tag has apparently disappeared (in the information panel, the names do not appear anymore), although the faces are still correctly appearing when going to the main face panel. Something else I remarked, when I start iPhoto, in the top left corner where I can select the face presentation, I have a circle in which two arrows are circling, with no end.
Resumed: My main problem is that I cannot add any names on the pictures...
So far, I have tried these solutions, none of them fixed my issue:
1) Launching iPhoto pressing the alt and Cmd button to repair the permissions, rebuild the thumbnails, repair the database, rebuild the database
2) repaired the permissions through onyx
3) erased the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file in the library / preference folder
4) erased Faces.db (in Pictures/iPhoto Library/Database/apdb) and Faces folder (in Pictures/iPhoto Library/Database), and use the files I have in my TimeCapsule from a time before my issue started
Anybody to share with my his/her ideas to solve my problem?

It appears you are experiencing library issues in iPhoto . That does sound troublesome. To help you resolve this, I have linked to an article that offers troubleshooting suggestions for this issue:
To rebuild the iPhoto library:
Quit iPhoto if it is open.
Hold down the Command and Option keys on the keyboard.
Open iPhoto.
Keep the keys held down until you are prompted to rebuild the library.
A dialog will appear with rebuild options. Select the options you want to use.
Click Rebuild to begin the rebuild process. This may take a few minutes to complete.

This is what the dialog box will look like in your version of iPhoto. I would recommend performing each option. However, I would not recommend this process if you do not have a backup of your photos:

Accessing the "add a face" button when you can't see it

How do you add a face to a photo that has so many faces that the "add a face" button is hidden at the bottom of the long list of faces and you can't access it.

Apple Express Lane claims that this is a technical deficiency in the program. If you need to add a face box and the option has disappeared at the bottom of the Info Faces list, delete face boxes until it reappears. Add back the correct number of "unnamed" face boxes that you need.

Menu buttons turn grey when rendered

Hi there,
I have 2 DVD menus with buttons which were created in Photoshop. The Colour Sets are assigned by a custom colour set in Encore and work fine in preview (green normal, red highlighted and orange selected.) When I preview in Encore the menus are the perfect colours.
When I Build an ISO of the DVD image or a DVD folder however they appear grey on one menu and grey with what appears to be red text misaligned and masked on the other.
I'm using VLC media player to preview the ISO/ DVD folder.
Can anyone help?

The button might be gray because airplane mode is on; if it is, turning it off will fix the problem

What does the "Music and Sound Effects", "Photos", "Titles", etc. buttons turn grey and make unelectable?

I'm on into my first steps in iMovie 11 and I try to apply the things from the "Getting started" video tutorials. However when I come to the "import photos from iPhoto" I find all my buttons grey and unelectable. I checked preferences but I didn't find any parameter which relates to that topic.

My password lock cannot be turned off (button is greyed out and does not react) and I cannot set to "simple" password (4 digits) for the same reason (button greyed out)

Today, I got a message from my iphone 4 telling me that my password was expired and that I had to change it.

Have a work Exchange account on your phone? These policies can be enforced by a profile installed on your phone. There is nothing you can do to change this except delete the Exchange account.

What is the bitrate of each file?
Do some have DRM protection?
Any error messages?
Do you have all these songs checked in itunes?
There is a setting to sync only checked songs, on the main tab of your ipod

You should get it looked at by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or an Apple Store next to your place, this might be a hardware issue.

"Add a face" permanently grey after "Add a face" action cancelled

Hello,
I have the following problem in iPhoto 9.4.3. It is preventing me from adding faces to some of my photos. Please let me know if you can reproduce:
Step 1: When looking at a given photo, select "Add a face..." on the right panel.
Step 2: iPhoto will create a box in the middle of the photo (asking for the person's name)
Step 3: Double-click the top-left X on this box to delete it.
Step 4: "Add a face..." will now be PERMANENTLY greyed for this photo, even if you come back to it later.
Somehow, the failed "Add a face..." action messes up the photo's metadata? I'm not sure. (By the way, the original reason I closed the box was because the face I was adding wasn't in the center, and I couldn't move the box).

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
Post back with the result.

The "Add" button is greyed out and cannot be used. Plus if I get an invite I cannot accept it. I've tried resetting the phone, closing waiting and reopening the app, and checking all settings to find something that would stop this. Nothing so far has worked.

I couldn't agree more. There needs to be iMessage/message integration with iPhoto. I want to be able to share an iPhoto pic via iMessage! Also I feel the same way about iPhoto replacing the camera app/roll. Needs to be one location to edit photos and store them so we can eliminate duplicates, ect.

Thank you I tried the reset again did not fix- I think I am down to calling Apple and paying for a tech - phone company says it is a software problem. I just updated to 8.1.3 - I thought the update might fix it.
