Add a FLV/SWF to a PSD website.

I have web design premium CS3, and I just started experimenting with making my websites in Photoshop. In the meantime, I have been experimenting with Flash and love it. My question is, if i build a webpage in photoshop, how do I add my flash file to it? I tried the photoshop help section of photoshop itself and there are tons of different types of files it says I can work with, but I still havent found a way to add a flash file to my PSD web document.
Can anyone help with this?

I am trying to clear cells now, but I think I need to figure out how to get the long vertical blue lines out of my slices.... when i clear the cell in dreamweaver, it is clearing out everything below the cell, all the way to the bottom of the page (like the blue lines). Now, I'm just trying to figure out how to save the PSD into an HTML page without the slice extensions!

Hi guys,
I am wondering if any of you, export to Flash content for the web, and then use anything to preload those flash movies ?
I'm assuming there must be a good program out there that could take any existing .flv / .swf video file, and somehow add a preloader to it, and some html to round out the package...
I did a Google for this kind of program, but brought up nothing but junk, so I'm wondering what quality programs are available.

How do I add mpg background video behind a psd menu in Encore?

How do I add mpg background video behind a psd menu in Encore? The psd file is transparent and it still comes out as pitch black behind the menu. I'm inexperienced with these products so any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have done what Russ describes and it does not work...
Encore replaces the background layer with your motion video. So make sure you have a) a layer at the bottom (in Photoshop layer order) that is named "background," and b) no other full layer above that (for example, an image in another layer you've used instead of the original background layer).
Also keep in mind that setting transparency in Photoshop is overridden by various Encore processes.

FLV player not working on website

Well recently I've been making a website, I'm recently new to Dreamweaver, and previously I had input two FLV's in two different AP div boxes. They both worked fine, but after creating a few more pages, I can only come back to see it broken. Instead of a play button with the bar, it's just a picture with the play, pause buttons all over it (attached). I'm really confused why, I don't think I edited it at all. I'm really stressing out because my projet is due tomorrow and this last problem just arises!

assume that the properties resolve to correct values, since all projects (except one) call this task and compile successfully. the error must come from this one project that fails, but we don't know why.
any ideas?

You could be running out of memory, try increasing the -Xmx512m value to -Xmx1024m or another value that you prefer

How do I add an MP3 music file to my website?

I have searched the web to try and find out how to add music clips to my website. I sing in several jazz groups and want visitors to be able to hear various styles of music that the bands I play in sound like. I understand that I insert the plug in icon, but then how do I get a "player" to show up and how do I set the properties to make this work? I want the visitor to click on the title of the song and then be able to hear that song. I know that the mp3 file needs to be in my assets. There isn't a lot of clear information for doing this. With DreamWeaver or any text editor you can create an HTML file that has hyperlinks to your mp3 audio files. But that would mean that the end-user would be downloading your song to their computer. If you simply want the user to play the song without being able to download I would look into the WordPress mp3 widget that you can search for online and utilize that plug-in. It is Flash based. Which means that ipad, iphone, and ipod touch users won't be able to see your song. However bringing up the point of Flash, if you know the software well enough you could create a Flash-based mp3 audio player to contain your songs and have them played over the internet. The end-user would never have to download the song, they can just push a "play" button.
I'm thinking though that you might also be able to use HTML buttons (similar to a Submit button) which uses Javascript for interactivity instead of Flash. So the end-user would click on the HTML Play button and the song would play. But you would have to know javascript for that to work properly. ipad, iphone, and ipod touch users WOULD be able to see javascript buttons and use them as opposed to Flash-based players.

SWF not loading on website---Help please...

I'm not really new to Flash; I know how to get around persay. Though this task has me almost in tears. I'm trying to put a video playlist on my website. It has 3 videos. The playlist requires a few files in which I put in a folder named "video testing". Heres what I did:
I created a video playlist in Adobe Flash CS4 with some Actionscript. I published it in html and flash(swf). Afterwards, I saved the playlist as “MyVideoPlaylist”. I put all of these files in a folder named “video testing”. This folder contains: “MyVideoPlaylist.swf” “MyVideoPlaylist.fla” “playlist.xml” “video” “thumbs”. The video folder contains all the videos for the playlist and the thumbs folder contains the thumbnail images for the playlist. I opened up Filezilla and uploaded all files in that folder to the “flash” folder within the root directory. Since I’m using wordpress I browsed to the page that I wanted to put the flash in and placed the following code in the html section:

What does "http://www.burnnoticefanatic.com/promo.swf" have to do with the file you have been talking about?
As far as you saying "it could be that the swf file needs the videos and thumbs to play it correctly"... I assumed you were attempting to use them.
It's hard to solve this if the right players aren't in the game. The code you are using in the web page is old-style code. I would expect that if you publish an html file using Flash and use that code for embedding your file it will solve some potential problems, though those may not have been encountered yet.

SWF not working in website

I've made some flash swf files and I want to use them in my website. I uploaded them and everything works fine, except that the swf files won't play, it just shows a white box instead.
I'm using flash 8 and dreamwevaer 8. and since I'm new to this and this is my first time uploading a website, I don't know what to do and I'd really appereciate it if anyone could help me.

How large is the SWF file you are loading? How long did you wait? Do you have a preloader? It could be that your content is loading. Can we see the code you used to embed the SWF in your webpage? Can we have the link to the webpage? Try the code i put in pastie http://www.pastie.org/803711
Just change YOURFILE in <param name="movie" value="YOURFILE.swf"> and <embed src="YOURFILE.swf" to the name of your file if the webpage file is in the same directory as the SWF file else use a relative path to the directory it is in like "MyDir/YOURFILE.swf"

A way around FLV for a Flash-centric website?

I am finally preparing to enter the new millennium, and get myself a website. I guess I'm getting one of them pretty flash sites, but I'm concerned about the quality of FLV video (and that seems to be what my web designer wants to use).
Is there a way around this that I could recommend to the designer? I'm assuming she is not a video expert (****, I certainly am not either), and that we can find a better solution.
Or am I just plain wrong, and FLV will look fine?
I'm probably going to have around 6 clips on the site, at around :30-1:00 in duration, I don't know maybe even longer.
I shoot HDV, and I want you to be able to tell.

I use both Sorenson Squeeze and QT to convert into FLV files. The main advantage Squeeze has over QT is the ability to adjust the gamma and normalize the audio along with batch rendering capabilities, as opposed to QT on at a time.
As far as skins go if you use Dreamweaver to build your HTML with, they have a nice insert flash video command that gives you a few different options for skins.
As for encoding, the codec you choose along with the bit rate will determine your file size and quality. The On2 vp6 codec looks great but can only be uesd with Flash Player 8 and above but you can get great looking compressions around 2mb per minute. Take a look at the movie trailer site with QT. They use the h264 codec. It looks amazing, showing off HD/film footage but the files are 30mb and higher.
For my company's site I like to use the FLV just for the simple reason that flash in 96% of the browsers used today, QT is somewhere around 65% and the last thing a client wants to do in install new software to watch a video.

I add apps to my toolbar for the websites I use most frequently, or to remember one that I do not use as ofter. These apps disappear on what used to be a monthly basis, and now more frequently. Am I doing something to cause this?

I love the feature to pin as app tab on my toolbar. When I first began using this feature, after about a month the toolbar would drop all my apps. I would have to re-add as I used the websites again. Some of my sites I would add because I didn't use them enough to remember them all the time and this was a big help from having to search for a sight all over again. Am I doing something to cause these apps to be dropped? It seems to be happening more frequently now, like every couple weeks. It is annoying to have to keep going back and pinning these sites as app all over again.

Let me tell you a little more of the puzzle which I should have added originally!
I have about 60 podcasts. So I want to group those podcasts that I need to download everyday into one "collection" - then at the begiining of the day, I look at the "Every Day" collection of podcasts and then manually down load them. This way I do not have to look at the other 40 podcasts which are weekly or Monthly podcasts.
Your script idea will help me with another problem I have (tks!) but I dont think it wil help with this problem!
I really want to assign something at the "header" level - ie the actual podcast name, rather than the individual daily or weekly or monthly podcasts which is how your script works.
I think I have found a possible fix by assigning a code (ie "weekly") in the "Composer" field of the podcast and then showing "Composer" in the column browser and then selecting all the weekly ones etc etc.

Play a movie (flv) then go to the website homepage

I have an flv movie clip imported into a nice swf skin and it looks and performs wonderful. When it's done I want to immediately navigate to the home page of my site... how do I do this? If you would be so kind as to provide me with a sample script for this I would appreciate your help.

Ok sorry for wrong word used, I mean to say during application build on cataylyst if i have the SWF artwork and want to import on some particular State.
Eg : I made the web site design in which i made the page "about us" and "contact us" but for the Page "product" i made it on fresh fxp(catalyst) project. I tried to use by importing the swf Made on rapid weaver and flash catalyst both way didn't work. when i run the project, instead of expecting the Product swf in particular state it shows the First starting page of my Website(which is about us). When i play the preview there it shows fine exact as per my expectation but when run on safari it shows different. What can be the problem?

Multiple SWF files in one website

Hi,
I am a Flash newbie!!
I am building my first website and have been advised to
create each page as a seperate SWF file instead of using seperate
scenes in the same SWF file.
Before I get too deep into this project I want to make sure
that this is the best way to do it?
Also, One I have completed all the pages I will of course
have about 10 different SWF files. Is it easy to create a Website
using these files??? If so how is this done??

Clickable FLV/SWF Banner Ad

Hi,
I am having some difficulty creating a SWF file that had a FLV embedded that is completely clickable at any point during the video.
Created a new Flash document and imported the video, using the "Progressive download" option. I have tried everything from adding layers with click instances (http://forums.adobe.com/message/256259#256259) to making a button the size of the video that is set at 0% alpha.
Every time I either get the video playing that is not clickable or i get the flv icon flashing (no video) that is clickable, or I get the flv icon flashing and it is not clickable at all.
I am using CS3 and just looking for a video banner ad.
