Add and open a listening port for software

Hi!
I am a newbee at the whole Solaris OS and I am trying to install some software that requires a listening port to be open in order for the software services to run.
Any suggestions would be GREAT!!
And please keep in mind that this is my "first rodeo"

I'm not sure what you are talking about.
Usually software is the one, that opens ports in the OS.
Maybe it requires to have an open port on your firewall?

On his phone, sign in Settings>iCloud and enable Mail so that he can have his own email address. Then add your account in Settings>Mail, Contacts & Calendars and enable Contacts and Calendars. They will then appear on his phone alongside any syncing he has set up. This will keep your emails separate, or you can add Mail as well so that you can both access that if you want. You can add his account in the same way on your phone and enable any data types you want to sync.

Unfortunately, no Sanyo phones are iSync compatible so you will not be able to synchronize your Contacts and Calendars with the phone.
Also, you may have problems with the Bluetooth adapter you purchased, as the only one officially supported by Apple for use with Macs is the D-Link DBT-120.

It's always a good idea to check this list before purchasing a new phone.
Other phones are supported by third party plugins from here and here. But still no Samsung, Sanyo, LG etc. who all use thier own proprietary syncing protocols rather than the industry standard SyncML. These manufacturers also don't provide Mac software with their phones like the do for Windows users.
I'm afraid you're not going to have much luck if you stick with the Sanyo. I would seriously consider taking it back and swapping it for one of the handsets on the above linked pages. Personally I would recommend a Sony Ericsson model. I've always had excellent Mac compatibility with those.

Changing listening port for JBoss

Can anyone point out where to look for in order to change the listening port for JBoss. By defualt it takes 8080, I want to change that to some other number.
I have been looking into the folders but it seems a lot of them and hard to find the exact file to change, need some help here.

Is firefox Hello (v36.0) automatically opening a listening port when starting up? Is this a security risk?

After updating to firefox 36, windows firewall offered to block firefox. That usually happens when a program opens a port to accept INCOMING connections. Currently I have blocked it!

I am not certain if the Hello & social button do anything, but you can experiment with the settings mentioned in the above article, although generally it would be best if after any experiments you returned to the default settings.

No, it's done on the computer, it's just done on the web and not through iTunes. I guess you could do it on the iPhone, but it would be easier to do on the computer.

Not as an additional router.. the TC will be plugged into the main router via ethernet (or ethernet equivalent)..
Then the TC is setup in bridge mode. It will simply act as a Switch and HDD.
The wireless can be setup in a number of ways.
From your convenience point of view use it in roaming network mode..
you simply give the TC the same Wireless Name as the existing routers SSID.
Same security setting and password. WPA2 Personal = WPA2 AES which is the best.
But they both use different wireless channels.. normally if you leave the TC on auto it will work fine, but I prefer to control the network.. so set the main router to say 1 and the TC to 11.
You can also use a completely different wireless name etc.. that is up to you. It is still a single flat network and the only thing that is important is only having one router.

Application open several listener ports

Hi,
You don't have a problemI really have a problem, because this system works fine all day, but tomorrow I will need to shutdown the service and start up again, that is the problem. So I'm trying to get at the root cause and I think that is because the server was configured as dedicated (open 6 port for each connection).
Sybrand, about the messages posted here (in the first post) what do you think? how can I avoid that? There are any parameter to set that close the connections once that the transaction or session ends?

MDB rollbacks and stops the listener port with error code 2072

Hi
We have a MDB listening on QUEUE1. This MDB processes the message and puts another message in QUEUE2. Transaction is "required" for this MDB.
The processing could somtime take more than 2 min. We used to get EJB timeout error in this scenario. We changed EJB timeout to 5 min (default was 2 min). This resolved the timeout error. But it started throwing following exception. Note that if the processing takes less than 2 min, MDB never rollbacks.
After this rollack, listener port can not pick up the next message and it throws error (MQJMS2002: failed to get message from MQ queue. MQ Error Code 2072) . It stops as a result and restarts after 60 sec. Even after restart it can not process the messages till we restart the JVM.
Regarding error handling, Backout threshold is 3. If the message is redelivered, we discard this message.
We are using 2 Phase commit for 2 resources MQ (5.3) and MS SQL.
Websphere version is 5.1.
Two issues here
1. Why is MDB rolling back if processing takes more than 2 min.
2. After the rollback, why is listener port not picking up the messages. Why do we need to recycle the JVM.
Any pointers to resolve this issue?

Have been able to solve this problem? The same occurs in our environment. I have a nagging feelin git has something to do with a known bug that is solved in some fixpack or something. We're on Websphere 5.1.1.4.

Multiple listen ports for one weblogic instance

Can anybody confirm that you can have only one listen port defined for a single
weblogic instance (i.e. one instance cannot be listening to multiple ports at
the same time)?

you can have multiple ip's assigned to the same box
and bind each WLS instance to a unique which will listen
on the same port.

How do I change the listener port for APEX on XE

Hi all,
I did a default install of XE onto a Linux box which is my DMZ server. The default port for the listener is 8080, however I have since found that port 8080 is the port for proxy servers and therefore I cannot access APEX on my DMZ site from behind a client's proxy server.
Is there is simple way to change the listener to port 80 for access to APEX.

What's the difference between the following?
Oracle HTTP Server port = 7780
Oracle HTTP Server listen port = 7781
They are the ports used in my 9ias 9.0.3 instance.

The server port, 7780, is port where HTTP server response and listen ports are other ports tha HTTP Server can listen. In IAS, the default configuration, the server port is response for Web Cache and Web Cache connect with HTTP Server in listen port.

Assuming that you are asking about firewall configuration: My Norton Internet Security just asked me if I want to enable web communication for NSU and it worked just fine after this. I would recommend you to use automatic configuration of your firewall, if available.

Changing listening port for SSH on IDS

What command would I use to change the listening port on a 4200 series IDS? I have it listening on another port, and when I applied the S189/S190 update, it changed SSH back to port 22.
Just out of curiosity too, does anyone know what else the S189/S190 updates change?

After looking around, I think it may be the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file that needs to be modified. However, I wanted to double check that with the community. If I modify that file and restart ssh, will I mess anything up and lock myself out of remote access?
