Add background audio playing in v.26?

I think it'll be great if the new folio version could support background audio playing. Since many publications integrate audio in the book, some books are even purely audio books with texts, if the user could turn off the screen while listen to the text, that'll be really cool. So I am suggesting add this function in the update of the folio version. What do you guys think?

This is one of the most incomprensibile things that happen in DPS.
This is not a Bug because if it was bug would mean that this options doesn't work properly.
In this case this options dosen't work at all.
This options was released in version 23 and now we are at version 25...
No one at the developer team test it before delivering?
Is it really possible?
I can't belive.
I work every day with DPS, and I was one of the first in Italy, I love this solution but sometimes is very difficult to justify.
Tomorrow I have to register some video-tutorial on new features in DPS... what should I say?

Add background audio?

On the homescreen of my siena app, i'd like audio to start playing in the background once the app is loaded. navigating away from the screen will stop audio; return to the homescreen and audio plays. How do i do that?

If it is a short audio clip, first set Data>Loop = true
Then set Data>DefaultPaused to audioPause -- you're essentially setting it to a variable whose value will determine if the audio plays or not.
On the button you use to Navigate away, set Behavior>OnSelect to UpdateContext({audioPause:true}); Navigate(Screen2,""). Clicking the button sets audioPause to true and that stops the audio.
Finally, on the button you use to Navigate back to the homescreen, set Behavior>OnSelect to Navigate(Screen1,"",{audioPause:false}).

Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX version 11.9.900.170 Bug; unknown background audio playing

1/13/2014 I download Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX version 11.9.900.170 for the 5th time in over a week and keep getting a corrupted version that is playing audio from a unknown source when I am not on the internet but using one of my software. I have downloaded with abc go.com and NFL.co and I get the audio in background that is not part of what I am watching and can not turn off because it is playing thru your player software. I uninstall it and no audio, as soon as I download it again the same problem, then I have to uninstall gain, I just uninstalled again.

Flash Player is"playing" the audio... IT ISN'T CAUSING IT.
You have what's known as "adware" that has hijacked your browser.
Usually it opens a window with a javascript, either minomized, or as a "popunder" or it can set it to open "offscreen", and then it plays where you can't see it to close it. You need to run a thorough system scan, and check your browser plugins, as well as look for suspicious programs in your Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features section.
Again, Flash Player ISN'T the cause. It's just the mechanism by which this malware is delivered.

As long as you stay in your app you can do the following in Siena.
Assuming you have your audioplayer on screen1. Set the start parameter of the player to "audiostart" and the loop to "true"
In the onVisible of the screen you can then add the following (you can add that to a button or something else too)
UpdateContext({startaudio:false});UpdateContext({startaudio:true})
That will keep on playing the audio regardless of the fact that you are moving away from the screen.
Just make sure that your parameter autopause is set to False (same with autostart).
Reading your post you want in to play even when moving completely away from the app (e.g. start doing something completely else).
I'm not sure that is possible today with Siena. If that's a function you want to add to the wishlist you can add it to

Background audio increases after paused or interaction is used

I'm using Captivate 7. I have background audio playing. Adjust background audio volume on slides with audio is set to 15%. When played, the .swf file sounds great, until you pause it, or an interaction is used (glossary). When it starts again, it plays at full volume over powering the narrative. Any suggestions?

Is it all browsers that you are having problems with, or is just Safari (and I assume that your last post means that other apps are ok) ?
If only Safari then try clearing its cache : Settings > Safari > Clear History And Website Data (Clear Cookies And Data on iOS 5, 6, 7 and also Clear History)
Close Safari via the iPad's taskbar (I'm assuming that your iPad is on iOS 7+) : double-click the home button to open the taskbar and then swipe or drag the Safari app's 'screen' up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
And do a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
And then retry playing the videos.

"Background Audio" problem

I tried to untick "Stop audio at end of project" in Project
Preferences window, and everytime I make this change by clicking OK
this option remains ticked again once I open Project Preferences.
Is there any chance to keep the background audio playing without
stopping it at the end of my presentation? How to fix this bug?

I don't think it is a "bug", but if it makes you feel better
I guess you can call it whatever you want.
Check the "Movie End" options on the "Start and End" tab. For
instance, if you have selected "Close Movie", the background music
will cease at the end no matter what option you select on the
"Background Music" tab because the options selected on the main tab
("Start and End") take precedence over conflicting choices on the
other tabs.
If there are no conflicts, there is no reason why you cannot
leave the movie "open" at the end, and let the music play on
forever.

Cant get background audio on menu to work right...

First I really appreciater all the help I've been getting here, my project is near complete, and I couldnt have done it without your help.. THANK-YOU!
ok, last thing I need to do before I render out my DVD project..
I've got several menus, each with several buttons. On each menu what I WANT to happen is when the menu is displayed,
a background audio plays until a button is hit, which sends the user to the destination linked to that button.
What I did, was, on the menu in question's properties/motion page I linked the audio "curly thing" to the .wav file I want used as a menu background audio... works fine....until you roll over one of the buttons, ( using the mouse, in the preview Mode) at which timethe audio starts all over from the beginning. It does this everytime you roll the mouse over any of the buttons...
Will this happen everytime a user uses the remote to go from one button to another?
Is there any way to just have the background audio play constant until a button is actually selected/"pushed"?

Background Audio not playing in Captivate 4

I imported a background audio track to my Adobe Captivate project, and I can see it in the background audio menu, however, when I preview or publish the project, it does not play. When I am in the import menu, it plays, but only there. I have done this many times before without issue. Any ideas?

I am not sure if I understood the problem correctly. I tried to add a background audio to a test project and it worked fine for me in preview and publish.
When you say "I can see it in the background audio menu" are you meaning the following?
Audio->Background Audio... ==> Audio Background Dialog opens up and the audio track is shown properly. In library, the use count of this audio is non-zero and when you right click on the audio and select usage, "Project" is listed as one of the users.
When you say "When I am in the import menu, it plays, but only there", which import menu are you taking about?
Can't the audio be played from the library preview or from audio properties dialog or from Audio Background dialog?
Do you have this problem with any project that you are creating or is the problem happening in one particular project only? If it is only a particular project, can you share the CP project?

How do I stop background audio clips from playing while browsing sites?

Firefox is my default browser. I use Google chrome and Internet explorer sessions for background monitoring news site sessions at the same time. I have no problem with the other two browsers. While surfing with Firefox I get unwanted background audio clips that start and run by themselves. I cannot stop them. They run and then stop by their self. They are some sort of adware and I cannot find the source to remove them. I also get video clips sometimes that I can stop that run around the outside of the active window I am viewing. These is very annoying. I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it but the problem does not go away. I antivirus software, registry change protection software, and registry cleaning software. The problem is with the default browser.
How can I locate and remove the plugin, addin or service that starts this annoying activity. I have no special unwanted toolbars installed. There is nothing in the installed programs list in the control that shouldn't be there.

I had a similar problem to this. EVERYTIME i started firefox, it would play an audio clip from a flash game i played a while ago, it would last 5 minutes before finishing. i tried the starting in safe mode, but that didn't work for me, so after that i then tried RESETTING firefox, and that has worked for me.
On another side of startup problems, firefox would also open up a new tab on startup, usually 22find.com or do-search.com. i know these are caused by a virus and have since deleted it, but it had changed a preference file in firefox causing it to continue to open on startup.
Having since done the firefox reset, i haven't had either of these problems AT ALL! would recommend this as a possible fix for you friend before trying any lengthy troubleshooting process or downloading any extra anti-virus removal software.

What you could do now is break up your video into smaller parts and render them out, then assemble them again as a whole.
I know this is not the best fix, but it might work.
You can duplicate an edit in the main screen, then delete the last bits and export,
do the same for the other half.
Then import the two bits (or more if you need) in a new edit.
Out of curiosity, can you post what format the video is in?
Copy a video straight from the camera to your computer.
Open it in Quicktime player, and with out playing type Apple + i
or Control + i for PCs
It should tell you lots of info about the video, and might help us to see what is wrong.

Captivate 7 HTML5 background audio not playing

The issue seems to be related to a slide with background audio that plays after a Random Question slide. I can see the playhead moving but the audio is muted. It seems to be a bug with Captivate 7.
To duplicate the issue, create a new Captivate 7 project, insert 2 Blank slides, each with Background Audio. Create a question pool with 2 multiple choice questions and insert a Random Question slide between the 2 previously created Blank slides. When playing in HTML5 from the start (F11), the second background audio does play (is muted).
I'm using Chrome in Windows 7.

I think I've found a workaround for this issue. I’m finding when audio is placed on each question slide in the pool, the audio on subsequent slides play. The audio on the question slides has to be different from audio used on non-question slides (but all the question slides can use the same audio). Also, the question slide audio can be a very short and silent piece of audio, so nothing is heard on the question slide itself.

Getting background audio to play across entire EPUB document (specifically iBook)

I can't seem to get this working, perhaps it's not possible, but I'm trying to get a background audio track that the user can play/pause from any page they're currently viewing. I've got the audio and buttons working—with it all setup on a master page—but it restarts with every page turn.
Any ideas? I'm hoping it's just a matter of setting it up the right way, and not that it's impossible currently.

I don't think that that is possible. I think audio is page-specific. This is also true in PDF files and SWF files as well.

Background audio won't play through...

forgive me if this has already been asked... i typed in "background audio" on the search for encore only, and it gave me 0 results.
i'm actually getting a hang of this...
but, i have the audio set as a 20 second clip, to continuously loop until a selecttion is made, and it starts up fine, and it loops as well. however, when i highlight any selection on my menu, the clip starts over at 0:00 again is there any way scroll through all menu choices on the given screen without it restarting?
i've chosen different settings in the properties of the menu, and still nothing.

i'm not talking about a selection... i'm just talking about highlighting. i know i have some commercial dvd's where i can highlight differnt selections and it still plays the background audio...
i'm playing The Matrix (1) right now and it does it. the main menu, i can highlight play movie, then scene selection, then special features, and the music continues playing.
in the project i'm working on, i highlight 'play movie,' then go to 'scene selection' song restarts, then 'audio options,' song restarts...

Mp3 as background audio on web page does not play in ff 3.6.22 It does play in IE why?

I am building a web page. When I was editing the page and clicked on browser review, the music I was playing in the background played in ff 3.6.22 and in IE 7. When I uploaded the page to the web for testing, the background music played in IE7 but not ff 3.6.22.

In the process of trying to figure this out, I updated my plugins, all but one successfully. Java would not install because an error message said there was a syntax error. (Since I ran the installer from the Firefox download screen and not through the command line, I tried to contact Java only to find out that the only way I can get help is to pay $1/minute. This is ridiculous.)

Can no longer preview background audio accurately, efficiently in Captivate 7

I'm currently using Captivate 7.0.1.237 on a Mac running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.
As far as I know, Captivate has never allowed for Background audio previews to work anywhere but in (Preview > Project) and (Preview > web [or] HTML5). Those aren't ideal, but I used to have no problem fast-forwarding the preview to see what adjustments needed to be made to sync background audio voiceovers to slide content. (FYI - I can't record to each slide because I'm combining recordings with static slides. Tried, failed.)
Since upgrading to Yosemite, I have been unable to scrub (rewind/fast forward) in any of the preview modes without losing the synchronization of the voiceover audio I have in the background. Previewing in web browsers doesn't even work at all any more. {Error: This webpage is not available.} The video will rewind/fast forward, but the audio doesn't recognize the timestamp.
So, this means that now the only method I have for timing audio to video is previewing the entire project (Preview > Project). I am working on developing a set of 15 different videos (eventually MP4 output, so no interactions), each of which is between 3-8 minutes in length. Each project is between 25-60 slides. Say I create content on the last slide (which might be 5-10 objects per slide,) I have to preview the entire 8-minute video without pausing, rewinding, or fast-forwarding - every. single. time. I add. or change. some content.
This problem has led to me working 10+ hours in a day attempting to sync audio to animations for just one project. This is totally unacceptable.
PLEASE HELP!!! I've searched high and low through the documentation, FAQs, and message boards and I'm coming up empty.

Thanks for considering the problem! Unfortunately, as I stated above, the voiceover needs to be a background audio file that plays throughout the project. It's not possible to record audio-per-slide because of the structure of the video - and because I do a lot of editing of the audio files for 8-minute videos.
FYI - I was able to have a chat conversation with a support tech. Here is the transcript of that chat:

AMANDA: Do I need to publish the entire project every single time I make a small change?

Anvinder: In order to make the changes evident in the output you need to publish the whole output.
Anvinder: Amanda, the best practice is to publish the whole project.We are in testing phase for the same. You can download the trial version of captivate 8 and work on it on yosemite.
