Add calendar icon tp dock

How can I add the calendar icon to the dock on my imac, please?
I've tried dragging it from Launchpad, but thsat doesn't work.
Thank you

Dragging it from Launchpad should work. Drag it into the dock between to other icons. Applications have to be added to the left of the divider.
Try dragging it to the dock from your Applications folder (Command-Shift+A).
You can also open the Calendar app then right-click (control-click) on the app icon in the dock and select Options then Keep in Dock.

  • Trying to add Applications icon to Dock

I reinstalled my Mac OS, Maverick. How do I add the Applications folder to the Dock? When I try, it looks as if all my apps are being copied to the newly created Dock icon for Applications, because of the blue progress bar under the icon. And it seems to be stuck as it has not moved in quite awhile.

    Hello there, Chris.
The following Knowledge Base article explains how to add a folder to the Dock:
    Mac Basics: The Dock
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2474
    Adding and removing Dock items
If you want to add an application to the Dock, click the Launchpad icon in the Dock and drag the application icon to the Dock; the icons in the Dock will move aside to make room for the new one. If you want to add a file or folder to the Dock, just drag its icon from any Finder window (or the desktop) and drop it on the Dock. The resulting icon that appears in the Dock is actually an alias of the original item (it's kind of a pointer to your original item). If you drag an application or file onto the Dock, you'll be able to open it anytime by simply clicking its docked icon. If you drag a folder onto the Dock, a Finder window of the folder's contents will display when you click the folder icon in the Dock.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

How do I place a printer icon on the dock?

Open the printers in System Preferences.
Double click the desired printer to open it's print queue, that will load an application in the Dock. Drag that application anywhere in your Dock & it will become saved there.
Quit the app & it should remain in the Dock.

  • Add network icon onto dock

    Hi All
I am totally new to Apple OS and it's now my job to administer them as a member of staff has left us who used to do all the mac admin.
We have an issue with adding a network icon to the dock. Some machines display it fine and others don't.
I remember him telling me that using workgroup manager doesn't work so he used to do it another way using a plist file or something along those lines. I've found the file he means but it's a .app file which contains a unix exe?
I've googled this problem and there seems to be people doing this with profile manager but we don't have this software. I assumed this could be done with workgroup manager but for some reason it doesn't.
The shortcut needs to simply go to \\servername\share
The other complication i'm going to have is that the \\servername\share is being moved to a different location as it's grown so big we have run out of space. The shortcut will need to be edited with the new sharename.
Could someone please explain to me what to do in the simplest terms possible? I'm a PC admin not a mac so I'll have no idea what the technical mac stuff means.
Thanks for taking the time to read this

    This seems to work.
However the process I have to get to just to unlock the go menu and access the shortcut is rediculous hence wanting this to be an automated thing.
I have these .nib files that I have to copy over and replace over system files just to unlock the go menu, then I have to log out, log in, browse the network to then get the shortcut, lock the machine down and log out again.
We have about 40 macs and i'm not keen on manually doing this on all of them.
Here's the document I follow for this procedure:
To Regain sidebar and go accses replace the folder in /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/MenuBar .nib for the ones in Lockfider restorgo to:-/
    cd /Users/administrator/Desktop/Lockfinder/Restorego/MenuBar.nib
    sudo cp -r * "/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/MenuBar .nib"
    cd /Users/administrator/Desktop/Lockfinder/Restorego/PreferencesWindow.nib
    sudo cp -r * "/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/PreferencesWindow.nib"
To LOck down again Copy the files in Lockdowngo to /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/
    cd /Users/administrator/Desktop/Lockfinder/Lockdowngo/MenuBar.nib
    sudo cp -r * "/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/MenuBar .nib"
    cd /Users/administrator/Desktop/Lockfinder/Lockdowngo/PreferencesWindow.nib
    sudo cp -r * "/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/PreferencesWindow.nib"
Absolutely crazy! With windows server and group policy this is a breeze

Do you have Time Machine enabled.   If so, go back through your previous months until it features in your Application folder.   Then restore.

  • Calendar Icon Dock - Mavericks OSX

    Hey there,
Wonder if anyone can help me here with a small question..
My calendar icon on the dock is displaying the date on the red part of the "notepad" rather than in the white blank space. Does anyone know how to fix it.. the calendar works fine .. but is just annoying .
    Thanks!

    Test in a new User:
Log out under the Apple in the Menu bar.
    Log into the Guest User.
Do you see the same behavior in the Calendar icon in the Dock?
If yes, this indicates problems at the base level.
Boot into the Recovery Drive by holding down Command R when restarting.
Run Repair Drive and Repair Permissions in using Disk Utility in recovery.
    Restart
Download and run the combo updater to refresh your OS X files.
OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 (Update (Combo)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1746
You might need to reinstall OS X. This process should not damage your data but it's always advised that you backup first.
If no, the problem is in your User's folder.
    Do the usual fixes.
Restart in Safe boot mode. Log in while in Safe boot and see if the problem goes away.
Run Repair Permissions in Disk Utility.
Run Font Book to validate your fonts. (Clear font caches)
    Safe boot
    *  shutdown
    *  start the Mac and *wait* for the startup chime to sound
    *  after the sound, press and hold down the shift key
    *  keep holding and *wait* until the grey  Apple logo appears
    *  now release the shift key and just wait (it could take a few minutes)
    *  eventually the login screen appears with the words SAFE BOOT
    *  log in to see if the problem goes away while in safe mode.
See this link to see what happens during Safe Mode.
Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564
    Run Repair Permissions:
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Applications/Utility folder.
    2. Click on the First Aid tab and select Repair Permissions
    3. Click on the icon for your boot volume.
    4. Click the repair permissions button.
How to use Font Book to validate fonts
      1. Open Font Book in your Applications folder.
      2. Select All Fonts.
      3. Now click in the list of fonts and select all (Edit > Select All).
      4. Under File in the Menu bar, select Validate Fonts.
      5. Duplicate fonts will be marked with either the yellow badge or a black dot.
      6. Select to remove or delete duplicates.*
      7. Delete font caches (how to)
      8. Restart your computer
    * Step 6 – remove or delete duplicates is where the tricky part comes in. You can select to let Font Book disable or remove duplicates, but I’ve found that it removes the one you have not been using rather than selecting the best option. See Font Management in OS X, by Kurt Lang, for more info on fonts.
See Kurt Lang's directions here to remove font caches Re: Weird Finder Window quirk

  • Calendar icon in my dock showing a number

I have a MacBook Pro and the latest version of Mountain Lion. When I booted up this morning, my Calendar icon in my dock shows a "1" in the upper right hand corner. What is this, and how do I get rid of it?

    Thanks!
What I discovered happened, is I told Siri to schedule a meeting with a colleague. It somehow became in Calendar an "invitation" to my colleague regardin a meeting. So, the "1" showed I had one invitation. I tried to edit it to a simple calendar event, but had to literally cancel the invitation, leading my colleague to call me wondering if/why our meeting was canceled!

    Hi Niku,
And thank you for the acknowledgement.  That is why I wrote you may have to hunt for it.   But there is another way.
Go to bookmarks > show all bookmarks.  Make sure that in the 'Collections" column to your left, the highlight is on Bookmarks bar.   Then when 'show all bookmarks' comes up it will show you the entire contents of your bookmarks bar.
By resting your cursor on Amazon you can drag it up to the number one position ... and Bingo.
Sorry, but I don't find that very useful. Sometimes, many--most--times, you can't remember the name of the site you're looking for. The only answer is to have the Bookmarks organized in a way that will make finding things much easier. Tools do exist for such organization, and I have already used the Apple system for deleting all of those that I don't need or want--an amazing number of them. That took time. Some day when I have nothing better to do, I'll use such a system to clean out and organize all of my Bookmarks, so that they can become the valuable tool they're supposed to be. Funny, the first time I had a total computer wipe-out, the only thing I really grieved about were my Bookmarks, but now, and for a long, long time., I very seldom bother using them to find anything.

  • Change @ icon to website icon on dock

OS X 10.9.5 MacBook Pro- How can I replace the '@' spring with the actual websites' icons on my dock so I can easily see which website the @ represents?  It would be so much easier if you could just see the actual website icon instead of having several of the same '@@@@@@@'  thing on the dock!!! Thx!

    Apologies I wasn't clear enough…
Drag a link from Safari to the Desktop (forget about those springs in the Dock - they are useless for editing they look 'real' but that is a lie). You will have to re-create them all I'm afraid.
Get info on the new weblink, click the icon, so it highlights ready to drop an image onto it.
Find the image you like & drop it onto the icon…
Now add that to the Dock & start cursing about how Macs are simple - why it has to be this way I do not know
The next piece of bad news is that if you delete those new weblinks, they will stop opening from the Dock, move them to a folder for safekeeping.
All of this makes me fee that you are doing something wrong - generally when things are this clunky Apple didn't expect this use case & be prepared for them to break it in future, sorry.
Next step - wonder why screenshots need massive furry shadows
P.S. some images fail to look good as icons, transparency can make things fall apart or sometimes you get generic icons instead.
    Good luck

  • Calendar icon on the doc

How can the calendar icon on the dock show the current date? I need to always open the calendar to "refresh" the dock icon to the current date. Pls help....poor non-tech-non-mac person. Thanks.

You can't. I know it seems a silly omission but it's true. I asked the same question at a Procare lesson (the one-on-one training I purchased with MacBook.) You have to click on it to show correct date.
