Add characteristic WBS_ELEMENT

Hello All,
i am executing this transaction S_ALR_87012168 in the screen i am entering some compnay code (say 7001) then when i execute the report....as there is navigation items on left side in which you can see entries like G/L account , customer,compnay code and so on..i have to add one more entry to this is WBS_ELEMENT ...and depending upon this when i click WBS_ELEMENT it should so due date amount calculations for all open WBS_ELEMENTS...how can i add WBS_ELEMENT to characteristics list as SAP offers only predefined charateristics...

Report painter add characteristis to a librairy

Like you know we can add some characteristics in report painter into a librairy.
With transaction GCRT, and OSS note 395894 - Numeric variables in reports, it seems that we can add characteristic into a librairy.
Until now I never saw an example to confirm the process to do it. Is it someone can provide one ?

How to add characteristic in report without having in the multi provider.

Hi All,
I need one requirement to add characteristic in report that is not available in the multiprovider . That field is available on the table level in the BI. How should i bring same field into report level with out adding MP. Note : should not add new filed in to exiting flow .
Please give suggestion how do approach this scenario .

Hi ,
If you are working in BI7 then u can use infoset to join the cube and charecteristic(the field that ur going to add), I hope your infoprovider is a cube.

Material classification - Searching exit to change/add characteristic vals

Hi all,
I am searching for an exit or BADI what allows to change or add characteristic values. This shall happen on <enter> in MM01 or MM02 and would be great to word also in BAPI calls updating the classification.
Exit EXIT_SAPLCLFM_002 does not work on one hand since it is called after check for mandatory entries. Therefore there is no chance, to fill them before. Also the user will not see the result.
BADI IF_EX_CACL_VALUE_CHANGE~MODIFY_INPUT does not work since it has no chance, to manipulate content. It just offers changed values to check. A try to use CTMS functions to manipulate DDB was not succesful. I did not find any chance to react on a given changed value changing or inserting values for other characteristics within the allocated classes. Any call for CTMS_DDB_SET_VALUE lets the classifcation struggle - even if repetitive calls of the BADI are avoided.
Does anyone have an idea?

thank you for thinking about it.
My task is to react on an update to a characteristic in MM01, MM02 and any other more general transaction to maintain the material classification like mass updates etc. I want to derive from the entered value of several updated characteristics other ones from the allocated class. These derived characteristic values might be still empty but mandatory. I do not want to see any popups inquiring this content before my exit has the chance to fill it. I prefer that this is done on <enter> and not on <save> and want to show the user the enhanced class values. Optimum would be that this also happens in a BAPI call with the same logic.
I hope this clarifies the task.

Add characteristic to the custom partitioned cube

I have partitioned the custom cube and migrated to testing environment and now i need to add a characteristic to the custom cube . I could not add to the cube .Can i do that? If so, please let me know.

try coping this Cube to another Cube(without data) & make the changes in the cube without any data.
If needed move the data from old to new.
Otherwise also it should allow you to add characteristic.

Can't add Characteristic to Selection - BEx 3.5 Query Designer on 7.0

Hi Gang,
Strange problem. I am attempting to add a characteric to a selection in a BEx 3.5 Query. We use a BW 7.0 backend.
However, in Edit Selection, I am unable to drag and drop the characteristic from the left pane to the right one. No error message is displayed, but the mouse arrow changes to the circle and slash "forbidden" icon.
The characteristic is NOT already in the selection.
Without an error, it hard to research the problem.

Yes, through RSA1 you maintain your totals cube including there the char needed. Include into dimension (like "other subassignments") and activate.
In UCWB, in the data model, drag and drop this new char into the left part of the screen (mappings). Assign the role subassignment, generate the data basis and cons areas.
Your "weighted Average Interest rate" looks like a key figure for me. Is it so? If yes, you cannot use more than 4 predefined KFs in the totals cube. If this is a char, then it's not very clear what kind of values it keeps (and its role is not clear either).
No, you cannot copy from "transaction currency". Currencies are special chars. Your "weighted Average Interest rate" doesn't look like having currencies property. Just create another infoobject and use it.
Another special chars like FYV or posting period, or movement type etc are special chars too. The chars that are to be created as usual infoobjects, are mapped with 'Subassignment' role, the special ones - with predefined roles. It's the difference between them.

Add Characteristic OPAYER to Multiprovider ZSD_M05

Please let me know to resolve this problem, I have a multiprovider ZSD_M05 which is built on two basic cubes that has a characteristic 0Payer in two basic cubes "zsd_m03" and "zsd_m04" but multiprovider does not have the "0PAYER" and Multicube and two basic cubes are in production, If I know change the definition of multiprovider ZSD_M05 to include the 0payer , WHAT should i Transport from DEV to Production to avoid deletion of any data in Production. There is very important data loaded from last 1 year has delta load in production. let me know if I transport multiprovider ZSD_M05 Structure only and two basic cubes "zsd_m03" and "zsd_m04" structure only and effected query will I be OK i mean i do not want to delete the data in production . please reply me soon.

Hi Soniya,
Since 0PAYER ia already in your base cube, so yu do not need to change anything in these cubes, hence do not need to transport them.
Just edit your MP to add the 0PAYER and make the correct setting in the Identification area. Assign 0PAYER to a dimension. Save and Activate and transport the same. This will not affect your existing production data.

Add Characteristic to Active DSO

Hi, We want to add a characteristic to an existing and actively loaded DSO. We are adding the characteristic to the end of the DSO and plan on populating the new characteristic with ABAP.
Will we run into any problems transporting this changed DSO into Production when it's loaded with data? I'm thinking it should transport fine and all we should have to do is reactivate the transformations.

When you are transporting the same into production - the transport will adjust your existing DSO structure - this requires a lot of space on the Undo tablespaces.
Make sure that there is enough free space in the undo tablespace in production atleast equal to or greater than your table size. ( Table would refer to Active table )

How to add Characteristic text to Key figures in Bex report?

The result set of a report is like this

The first Column Payment amount, Commission and Total are key figures.
Payment and recovery are text of a Characteristic Infoobject ( Flag type : X = Payment, # = Recovery ).
Now the requirement is not to have Characteristic Infobject as Column but to have them as text beside keyfigure.

How to achieve this kind of result?

Create Restricted Keyfigures to achieve this requirement.
create 2 RKF for Payment Amount Keyfigure
Create RKF1 with Payment Amount keyfigure and restrict flag type with "X" and then
Create RKF2 with Payment Amount keyfigure and restrict flag type with "#".
And use the RKF's in the query.
Similarly create two RKF's for each Keyfigure used in the query and restrict it with flag type.

On the screen of maintaining like profile (t.code MSDP_FCST1) only the characteristic value is displayed.
I'd like to see also the description; any suggestions?

Hi Adler,
The SAP standard transaction does not have this option. But you can enhance using function group /SAPAPO/MCPR (Package /SAPAPO/MCP2). This can be done by changing the system default settings and create your customised setting.

I want to add characteristic relationship to a BI-IP model. The help docs stats:
'We recommend that you derive your own class from the example class 'CL_RSPLS_CR_EXIT_BASE'. You then only have to implement the methods CHECK, DERIVE and CREATE. The class 'CL_RSPLS_CR_EXIT_BASE' itself can be used directly, but it does not execute an action.'
How do you derive a class from the sample class and how would you implement the methods as stated above. I have done this in BPS but not yet in IP. Please help...

Go to transaction SE80 and just copy the class and implement the said methods (as per your requirement). When you create a characteristic relationship of type Exit in the planning modeler, in its details, you will see the copied class also in the drop down list for exit class.

I am designing the P&L report and I want to split my R&D expenses split down by Internal Orders. Since, I have not seen Internal order field in summary table of new GL..ie., FAGFLEXT table.
I want to know how this can be achieved in the same report in report painter.
I am talking this issue from Report Painter point of view where each report is based on library , which is defined per summary table.(ie., Library can refer to only one table....finding it odd to believe there is no join in reporting tool).....

In Classificaiton datsource - Error "Characteristic has multiple values"

Hello All,
I have created classification data source 1CL_OMAT001 for material ATTR.. When adding the "PRODLINE" as one of characteristic I am facing this error "Characteristic has multiple values". I want to extract the Prod line to BW after this extraction.
Adding info, This PRODLINE is under a class "BUSINESS LINE". It is a only component of this class type, If i add characteristic of any other type say engineeering class.
Please help. If any information u want from me let me know.

Hello Karthik,
classification allows to assign multiple values for one charateristics to the same classified object, if the characteristic is defined accordingly (see please transaction CT04). Because only one value per characteristic and object can be extracted, CTBW checks the definitions of the characteristics you are assigning to a datasource. It refuses to assign characteristics, which allow multiple values, to a datasource. That's what you have observed.
In some cases characteristics allow multiple values for technical reasons, but actually only one value is assigned when objects are classified. For such cases you may turn the observed error to a warning (see please SAP note 350296). The first found value will be extracted. Further values would be ignored.
If you need to extract multiple values, you may use a solution like described in SAP note 1002105.

Match code in report selection screen does not show any values for 0FISCPER

I have problem with selection screen in several reports. When I use match code for fiscal period selection I get only # as a possible value. I have checked the master data they seem to be correct. I work with 7.0 BW system. Can you please give me any hint what I should check?

maybe I ask different way - how do you add characteristic values for a characteristic in the BEx? Is it automated somehow in SAP (e.g. from master data)? For the fiscal period I use custommer exit to fill in the default value, which is the current fiscal period. But this is something different, right?
