Add 'currently playing' to a playlist?

When I listen to a song on my iPhone, and want to add it to a playlist, I have to scroll all the way to find it. (I hate adding 'Z' songs) Is there an "add currently playing to playlist" button that I just can't find? It seems that if I'm listing to a song, and hit "edit playlist" on my iPhone, I would want to add the current track I'm listening to.  I always expect a button at the top of the screen that says "add currently playing", but there's not even small "A, B, C, D, E, , , " on the side of the screen, and I have to scroll AAAAALLL the way down to it. Since I have so many songs, it takes forever...
Is there an easier way that I'm just not finding?

I thought I'd revive this question. I wished I'd had it today. On my iPhone, I'd like to take the currently playing song and add it to an existing playlist. Is there a way?

  • [Desktop][Radio] Add current played Radio-Song to the current playlist

I often want to "collect" new songs by starting a radio on my e.g. "Pop" / "HardRock" Playlist. Therefore I really would enjoy a short way to add the current played song to the current "selected" playlist. I wonder why this wasn't implemented already. This is my default-reason for using a streaming-client like Spotfiy!

  • Add Current Playing track to Itunes With Verification

Okay I am trying to create an applescript that adds the current playing track in itunes to a playlist. However I want it to be able to check if the track is already in the playlist. So far I have this in which I got online:
    set myList to "iPod"
    property okflag : false
    tell application "Finder"
if (get name of every process) contains "iTunes" then ¬
    set okflag to true
    end tell
    if okflag then
    tell application "iTunes"
    set currentList to playlist myList
add (get location of current track) to currentList
    end tell
    end if

What sort of check are you looking for? The first part of the script checks to see that the current track is not already present in the desired playlist. If not, the track is added to the playlist. Are you looking for some sort of confirmation that it has indeed arrived, or do you want some sort of rock solid method to be sure that the track gets added? I suppose that a repeat could be built that continues to run until the playlist shows that the track is indeed present, but it seems overkill to me.

If you add music videos to Up Next playlist, then go to look at the album cover playing screen, then go to add another song from different playlist, you no longer can see Up Next, just go to full screen mode button. Using remote app iPhone 5 to play out of iTunes. It looks like it works fine for regular music, but for music videos you can't see your up next unless you go back on the computer to change once you've left the screen. When using the remote app, you shouldn't need to go to iTunes on the PC to view or edit Up Next already added. See first image, you can hit upper right and get back to Up Next (second image). Third image is music video, where you can't get back to Up Next, just swap between full screen and not. I hoped 3.0.1 would have the answer, no luck!

I would love that feature. I can't stand useing my computer with a single wall paper anymore (I have 500 anime pics that i rotate between every 2 mins ) If you could make the vision rotate background every x minutes or every time the player is turned on, it would be totally amazeningly sweet!!!! (i might have to go out and buy one then :P)
I just hope that creative has better firmware support with the vision than they have had with the touch.
    Once again, great review

  • How do I set up my iTunes Genius to play selections from all, not just some, of my songs in my currently playing playlist?

Last night, when I played my playlist songs with iTunes Genius, my iTunes, with one of my playlists selected, and set on "Shuffle On," "Genius Shuffle On, "Genius On," "Match On," and "Play," played selections from all of my songs in my playlist. Today, my iTunes Genius went back to the same problem it was giving me before last night. My iTunes Genius has been playing selections from just a few of my playlist albums. • Can I get my music collection (play counts and playlists inc.) from my iPad to my PC?

I had a problem with iTunes where I couldn't add songs to the library because I didn't have sufficient permissions to edit my iTunes library (even though I did). After a few days of tweaking administrator permissions and the like, I got really annoyed and tried re-installing iTunes to see if it would make it go away. Whilst the iTunes64Setup.exe file was downloading, I was fiddling with the .itl and .xml files in my iTunes folder and when I re-installed iTunes I had lost all my play counts and playlists. When iTunes opened, I assumed it must have overwritten the two files because when I looked at them in Windows Explorer they were both a lot smaller in size.
Obviously, I didn't sync my iPad or iPhone after this had happened, so I still have the playlists and play counts stored on them. Is there any way I can:
    a) Recover a previous version of the .xml and .itl files on my laptop and use them to restore my plays?
    or
    b) Use iTunes Match to restore them onto my laptop?
I'm not sure about b). When you subscribe to Match, does it analyze your current library and then save it to the Cloud so you can redownload it?
I'm going to buy the new iPhone when it is released in the next couple of months so I'm willing to jailbreak my iPhone 4 if need be.
    Thanks for any help.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Or see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

You might be able to achieve what you want by using Party Shuffle. Set the source for Party Shuffle to be the playlist you want to listen to or add the tracks you want to listen to by control clicking on them and selecting Add to Party Shuffle. Once everything is in Party Shuffle, you can rearrange them to your satisfaction. As the songs are played, they'll roll off the queue. You can quit iTunes and even when you restart, all your songs will be there, in the order you want, waiting for you to hit play.

Have you tried using an "On the Go" playlist? Go to the album you want to listen to, and select it by holding down the centre button until the album title flashes. You can now play it by going to Playlists and selecting the On the Go playlist. As you are browsing your albums for something else to listen to, selecting them in the same way (until the selection flashes) will add them to the end of the playlist, and they will play when the current selection ends.
I think that does what you want.

  • Drag & Drop image of currently playing song causes the Spotify window to "jump" to another position

When I try to drag and drop the image of the currently playing song (the one that appears under the playlist list, on the left side of the screen), the entire Spotify window jumps (i.e. moves/repositions) inside the screen to a totally different position, making it impossible to drag the song to the intended playlist. It seems that the the window is moved to the current mouse cursor position (i.e. the left top position of the window becomes the mouse cursor position, with an offset). When I reposition the window again manually, and try to do the same thing, it doesn't happen. I have been able to reproduce this issue a 100% of the times: I just refocus a few other windows I have open and then try to add the currently playing song to a playlist in the afore mentioned way.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

I want to play music from my playlist when I am using slideshow of my pictures in Ipad,  but I can only choose ONE SINGLE song, and it continuously repeates itself.  Is there a way to play the complete playlist while showing my pictures?

You can start the playlist playing in the iPod app and then switch into the Photos app and start your (non-music) slideshow - as you've found out you can currently only select a single track in the Photos app. Whether that will change in iOS 5 I don't know, but you could try leaving feedback for Apple : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • Songs not playing correctly in playlist in iTunes Match - iPad

I turned on iTM on my ipad and iphone.  It works great on my iphone.  All of my playists show up on both devices.  When I try and play music from a playist on my ipad, the song displayed is not the song that is playing.  When it goes to the next song, it just sits there and doesn't play.  I've downloaded all of the songs in this particular playlist.  Not sure if other people are having the same issue.
    Thanks,
    Jim

This has happened several times to me since I originally posted. I found it happens when I add more music to a playlist that I already have on my iPad.  Below is a fix.
    1. Turn off itunes match on your device.  This step is important.
    2. Delete all of the music on your device.  General / Usage / Music
    3. Restart your device.
    4. Turn iTunes Match on
    5. Download the playlist you want.
I hope Apple fixes this soon.  This fix is not ideal and takes a good bit of time, but it works for now.

  • Zen Extra -problem with "add to Play " but

    Hi
I have a creative Zen Xtra, bought it just a week ago, and liked it a lot, (Except the size ...)
but i think i am having a problem with it. If I have to create a play list, while I am playing songs how to do it ?
Lets say i am playing song aa from album AA
i click on AA , and the select song aa and click on Play now it starts playing but now i want to add it to playlist , then i click on aa and in the menu that comes up i click on "Add to Play" but as soon as i click on the "black roller while) to select "add to play" I can see the selection on the previous menu (song aa ) moves to next line..
Same thing happens if I have to add Album AA to play list, the cursor on the previous manu shifts one position below,
And the song/alblum is never added to the play list.
Do i have to do it only using PC ?
    that sucks ..
    let me know

Basically whenever you make a playlist, it includes whatever is in your "selected music". So let's say you want to add an album to an existing playlist. Go into your media library, add your playlist ("Add to play"). Then add the album you want from the media library (also doing the "add to play" option). When you go into the "selected music" section, click in on the scroll wheel and "save as playlist"

  • Is there any possibility to add a cover to a playlist?

This means: I dont want to add a cover to every single song in a playlist, but to attach a cover to a playlist as a whole.

I do have many duplicates (one song released in: album of the artist, best of album, compilations, etc.).
To eliminate duplicates: Select Music> File> Display Duplicates. Or use a shareware program such as Song Sergeant, which has the added advantage of allowing you to combine metadfata info (ratings, play counts, etc), before eliminating duplicates.
    http://www.lairware.com/songsergeant/
But how to keep the info about album and tracknumber at all and accessible?
The info is kept in metadata tags that is accessible and editable thru the Get Info... window. If you are talking about pretending that the one track you saved comes from all thouse different, multiple sources, your best option would be to add that info to the Comments field. To make this, and other, fields visible in iTunes, simply select them in View> View Options.
My best guess so far is to keep only one file and add that one to several playlists (one for each album the song has been released in).
In a second step I would love to browse through my playlists in cover flow; therefore I would need to add a cover to a playlist. (of course this would need an additional option in coverflow, namely playlists)
That is simply not what Playlists are used for or were desiogned for. Can't be done.
Generally, however, your assumption that all these versions are identical is incorrect. The same song might appear on different albums, but might differ in mix, recording version, remastering version, single mixes, video mixes, etc.
