Add device for mobile hotspot

I can't access the "manage devices" portion on the mobile hotspot settings.  I click on manage devices and it says "unfortunately, settings has stopped.  What's the issue?

Hi,
how and when did you create the existing 3 user subscriptions for this site?
Is the user publication still in standard version or has it been changed to bulk replication mode?
Is there any other (intelligent) publication missing in the wizard list?

  • "No Internet Access" on connected device with mobile hotspot

I've been on Verizon for 2 weeks.  Note II on a Family Share Plan with lots of data.  Using the built-in Verizon Mobile Hotspot application.  Connecting from my work laptop, which is Windows 7.
Set it up and everything worked fine for a week and a half.  I had no problems connecting or accessing the internet from my laptop.  It worked fine Monday morning.  Monday afternoon my laptop started giving me the warning message "No Internet Access" when connecting to the phone's hotspot.  I'm in a 4g area where the hotspot has worked previously.  I've tried several times in several different 4g locations as time allowed over the last 2 days, and I have not been able to get to the internet on my connected laptop again.
While connected to the mobile hotspot I ran Windows troubleshooter and it tells me that there is no DHCP server available, and that the default gateway for this network is unreachable.  My laptop has no problems reaching the internet via the wireless network at work or at home.  The laptop connects to both of those wireless networks every day (both before and since this problem appeared.)
I have rebooted both the phone and the laptop, with no change in the problem results.  I renamed the hotspot, and connected to the "new" hotspot from my laptop, with no change in the problem results.  I have tried running "ipconfig /renew" from my laptop while connected, and that is when it tells me that it cannot find a DHCP server for this network.
What broke?  How can I fix it?
I'm still in the 100% refund return period on my contract and phones (for another day or so.)  This is an absolute deal-killer.  Hotspot on my phone is the single reason why I switched networks.
    * Revised 2/28:
This morning I turned on the mobile hotspot feature on my wife's Galaxy S3 (on the same Verizon Family Share Plan.)  Then I connected to it from my laptop.  When it connected it said "limited internet access" for about 30 seconds, and then that warning went away and I had full access.  I surfed for a moment to confirm, and all was working.  I turned off the GS3 hotspot and turned on the hotspot on my Note II.  When I connected to the Note II's hotspot from my laptop I still had no internet access.  I left it for 3-4 minutes, and it never switched on.  I tried surfing and got only error messages in my browser.
All of this was while sitting at my desk.  So I believe I have ruled out the laptop as a cause for this problem.
    Thanks in advance,
    Randy

After I posted the above in February I talked to Verizon support.  They could not resolve the problem.  They replaced the phone, and the new phone has worked for months.  My work schedule changed a bit, and so I started using the hotspot less often.
Last week I noticed that after I connected my laptop I had a longer delay before it would change from "No Internet Access" to giving me access.  Yesterday morning it was so slow that I got the command prompt up on my laptop and determined that from the laptop's perspective the problem was that there was no DHCP server available through the hotspot network.  That morning it did eventually find the DHCP server and issue my laptop an IP address, and let me connect.
Yesterday afternoon the DHCP server never appeared, and I was not able to connect to the internet.  Same thing this morning.  I rebooted both the phone and the laptop.  No change.  The laptop connects to other wireless networks just fine, still.  This worked for months.  Why did it slow down connecting and then stop?  I'm guessing there must be some sort of buffer that has filled up.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Output Devices for mobile.

    Hi everybody,
I need to create a new output device for an Intermec PM4I printer, and it should print from the server, because I can not have local printers on a mobile device.
I created a new ouput device with the following information:
Previously I installed the printer with its corresponding driver in Windows level:
Device Type: LB_UBI for Direct Protocol
Host Spool Access Method: C: Direct operating system call
When I tested the printer, the spool requests are created and they say that were Processed completelly, but they never were printed.
    Do you have any idea?

  • Help w/ Security Settings for Mobile Hotspot w/ 2.2

I posted this over on moto's forum yesterday, but so far I've gotten no response. I figured I go ahead & post it here also, to see if some(1) may be able to help me w/ it:
I've searched far & wide, & haven't been able to come up w/ an answer to this. I would very much appreciate any info, advice, or education on this.
When I travel, I use the X to connect my laptop (HP notebook w/ Vista home prem) to the net, thru the hotspot. I've only been able to connect thru the hotspot using the WEP security setting. Since updtg. to (2.2), still can only connect using WEP setting. Now the only post I've been able to find w/ anything @ all about the hotspot & the security settings, was just a post about the steps to initially set it up. That was here on this forum & there were screen shots of pages frm the vzw site that (1) of the vzw employees had posted to answer that question. It showed WAP - 2 being used.
Now frm what I've read & understand, from searching for info on the diff. between the (2) settings, is that WAP / WAP - 2 is a much more secure setting than WEP. Also, I try to read-up on this kind of stuff to learn it, however, I'm still doing just that, learning & don't completely understand the diff. frm a tech. standpnt. I do sometimes do banking & paying bills online while traveling, so this is a major concern for me.
Is the diff. between the security of the (2) settings enough to worry about, as far as the fact that I'm dealing w/ personal info? Obviously, I don't need somebody in next hotel rm., etc., being able to get into my connection & see my info on my laptop. Also, has any(1) had any luck connecting thru the hotspot w/ WAP or WAP - 2 on their laptop? If so, is the problem poss. settings on my laptop? Thank u in advance any help ya'll can offer.

Ahh, okay, P.C., I see what you are talking about.
Network security is something that I've thrown myself into pretty heavily this year as we are more and more deploying networks within our audio and lighting systems for shows and concerts. In one instance, we have digital mixing consoles that can be controlled via that console's editing software running on a PC (or Mac, if you will). There are times where, instead of having the typical huge mixing console, 3 or 4 racks of power supplies, processing and effects units, and other supplies, I have a nice, comfortable chair and my X200 tablet PC mixing the entire show. I use the basic Linksys router connected to my Gateway notebook, the console, or consoles, and the speaker systems' processors. Then I use the X200 and Remote Desktop to, well, remotely control all of that.  One of my purchases later this year will be a real enterprise router, hopefully for more range and speed.
Naturally, it would suck to no end if someone were to hack into my WLAN network, thinking they were logging onto someone's network to steal some internet time. The havoc that this could cause could potentially be a show-stopper. Or in extreme cases, cause some damage from accidental overdriving something.
Unfortunately, I've only been able to learn some very basic things because of my work load, shows, and just time in general. But I have learned that WEP is fairly easy to crack, while WPA is much, much harder, and WPA-2 being even more secure. What I would learn to know is WHY this is the case. I have enabled the WPA-2 security features in all of my routers. I also use the MAC address filters, although, yes, MAC addresses can be spoofed without too much trouble. But it's another layer of protection.
As I mentioned in the PM, I plan to enable the hotspot feature on my account this week and play with the X's hotspot capability during our upcoming state fair. I'll be looking at the security settings pretty closely since I know how those road guys are (since I AM one, LOL), constantly hunting for a connection to log onto, LOL.
As I said, I'm woefully lacking in thorough knowledge about network security. I'll bet there are some real wizs (wizi?) around here that can be more help than I can. I have heard a couple of IT guys say that they never, ever do banking and financial business on ANY wifi connection, regardless of the security method used. One of these guys has said that he'd rather do banking over a good 3G connection that he would any kind of WLAN. Whether there's anything one way or the other to these claims, I simply don't know, but I'd love to find out.
One thing is for certain...Hotels are FULL of folks hunting for internet connections and logging onto anything they can, err, get their hands on. So it goes without saying that you need better encryption than WEP if you plan to do financial stuff online. I haven't looked, but can you turn off the SSID on the X's hotspot feature? That would at least, not tell the world about the network you have, LOL
Hopefully, I'll learn some more next week. In the meantime, I hope some IT types can comment on this subject, And thanx in advance,
    Take care,
    Geri O

  • Add user for mobile client

    Dear All,
I'm trying to add a new user into my site definition in transaction SMOEAC. Already 3 employees are associated to this site; I want to add a new one.
I know that I should create a new subscription with Publication type User by employee, but when the wizard starts, I can't find the publication "User by employee" in my available list.
My user is already created and associated to a BP employee; it exists in the table SMOUSERS in CRM server, but not in my laptop. How is possible to update only this table in my laptop data base with the CRM one?
    Could you help me, please?
    Thanks.

  • Iphone 6 plus for wifi hotspot

I used to use the data on my iphone to use my iPad when I was with a different carrier now that switched to Verizon and using iPhone 6 plus I cant use it as a wifi hotspot anymore. Called Verizon but not much help. Is there anyway I can still use my phone as wifi hotspot? Please help.

Hi AlexaW! Help has arrived! My apologies you didn't receive the assistance you deserve when you called us directly. Great news! You can certainly use your iPhone 6 Plus as a hotspot to connect your other devices such as tablets, laptops, etc.. What type of plan do you have currently? With all of our More Everything Plans, the mobile hotspot is included.
You'll go to your iPhone 6 Plus and go to Settings > Personal Hotspot > Tap on the button to turn on > and then you'll be able to see the Wi-Fi (mobile hotspot) connection on your tablet, etc.. If you are not on the More Everything Plan, then we can add on the mobile hotspot feature for you. Keep us posted! Thanks so much for being our loyal customer!

  • How to setup a Mobile Hotspot on the Xperia Play?

Ha Amanda! First, you'll want to make sure your line has been provisioned for Mobile Hotspot service. You can add the feature to allow you to share up to 2 GB of data for 5 other devices for $20.00 per month. Once that is confirmed, please follow these steps to set up your device's mobile hotspot:
Settings> Wireless & Networks> Tethering & Portable hotspot> Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings> check mark next to Portable Wi-Fi hotspot. This will disable all other data access so that the data usage is allocated correctly. When finished using your Xperia Play as a hotspot, remove the check mark from Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

  • HP (Palm) Pre 2 and mobile hotspot question

HP had their webOS event Wednesday and the word is that the Pre 2 will be available for pre-order on Verizon today (Feb 10). I am certainly interested, but I have a question:
Will the Mobile Hotspot feature be free like it is on the Pre Plus?

    http://www.precentral.net/verizon-pre-2-now-available-free-mobile-hotspot-still-tow
This is really confusing. From precentral.net (above link), it said the 3g hot spot feature is free and confirmed.
PalmPre2_4Me wrote:I'm looking for an answer on this as well.  I just chatted with Verizon, they didn't know anything about at first, but did research it.  Told me that while it isn't listed as a checkout option, customer service would add it for an additional $20.
Now for the confusion, off the HP/Palm site, which links to a Verizon page, I found the following for the Pre 2:
Support Up To 5 WiFi-enabled Devices (3G Mobile Hotspot Service Included Free)
Now, I'm looking to upgrade ahead of the Palm Pre 3 - since I'm betting with that release the Mobile Hotspot feature wouldn't be free.  If anyone has any better info and would share, I would be most appreciative.  I want to get the new device, but for an additional $240/yr, not sure it is worth it.  Plus if I wait 3/6 months, the new device would be here and I might as well just upgrade then.
Thanks for any insight you might be able to provide!

  • Galaxy s4 use as mobile hotspot...?

I may have poor vision, but I can't see a search link on this forum.I am trying to configure the s4 for mobil hotspot.  I created a password as requested. I got an error message to the effect that I need a subscription to Verizon mobil hotspot or some such. I was under the impression that I could just use this as a hotspot.

The Search bar is on the home page of the community forum and the top right corner of the site.
Which data plan do you have? Nationwide Plan with unlimited data? Nationwide Plan with tiered data? Share Everything Plan?

  • Cisco WLC 5508 with 3702APs - mobile hotspot for 2000 Guest users

Cisco WLC 5508 with 3702APs - mobile hotspot for 2000 Guest users
I've been given a fantastic "opportunity" by my boss to use our existing wireless infrastructure to provide internet access to potentially upto 2000 VIP guests arriving with BYOD devices, in a very densely populated area for a 3 day event. We are talking an area of approx 200m x 15m. Think of it as an awards ceremony/concert. The solution will also be mobile so we will be using internet breakout from different telcos as it will move to approx 20 countries. The area is also incredibly densely populated with other wifi APs. I did a brief site survey and AirMagnet could detect over 2500 other 'rogue' APs from where I was stood! I hope CleanAir works!
We need a simple authentication method for them to connect with zero admin from our side. We don't want to just offer up a rolling daily PSK as that's a bit amateur and we don't really want the VIP guests sharing the PSK with others during their stay. Ideally they could self-provision by providing an email address.
I know the WLC can handle webauth for local users but I don't think it scales very well. ie I don't think I can offer the account to several hundred people.
Cisco ISE looks a very expansive (and expensive) product but I don't think we need all it's capabilities (do I?). It would be nice to just ask a potential user for their email address and grant them access and email them next year. I've seen Cisco NAC but that looks over the top too for just guest users who will only be accessing a shared internet connection.
I've seen 3rd party supposed software solutions from Kiosk Antamedia etc do they work with Cisco Enterprise WLC solutions?
We'd like to limit users to a certain (low) bandwidth and block (say) torrent traffic to keep the general user experience worthwhile.
Does anybody have any case study documents or experience of such a project? As well as the authentication it's how well the APs will handle the dense potential number of clients trying to connect in such a confined space.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated from the knowledgeable community.
    Cheers,
    Mike

    Hi Rasika,
We are having WLC 5508 model with software version running 7.4.121.0. AP Models are AIR-CAP2602I.
Normally our WAN links are good even while the issue pertains. We are connected to remote offices over ipsec site to site vpn for WAN. The link latency in WLC between the AP and the controller shows  <1ms.
currently the Guest network is using WPA2-PSK auth given in the controller. we are trying to find a option to make the Guest wireless auth local to the office, and see if this solves the problem.
    any suggestions,
    Thank you,
    Arjun

  • Is mobile hotspot an available add-on option to the Single Line Smartphone Plan?

My current plan is an ancient $35 450 minute America's Choice voice plan and a $30/mo 2GB data plan. I only picked the 2GB plan because for that family of data plans one is required to pick a 2GB plan or higher for smartphones.  This works fine for me because I don't talk much and so this combination appears to be cheaper than almost any of the currently-available plans.  Another nice aspect of this is that if I need mobile hotspot for a while I can switch to the $50/mo 4GB plan which includes it and then switch back to the 2GB plan when I don't need it.
Just today I ran across the Single Line Smartphone plans on the VWZ website.  The 1GB plan is only $60/mo, which would be cheaper than what I'm paying now.  But it says nothing about mobile hotspot.  I realize mobile hotspot isn't included with it, but I'm wondering if it can be purchased as an add-on, and if so, for how much?  Ideally I'd like to do something similar to what I can do now -- add it when I need it and drop it when I'm done with it.
Is any of this possible, or do I need to stick with what I have (or switch to a More Everything -- which would be silly for me because I'd be paying a lot more)?

Mobile Hotspot is a great feature to have, QuantumMechanic! Just like you, I am all about saving! Mobile Hotspot is certainly available with all plans whether if it is an add on or embedded in a plan. Our More Everything plan with 1GB of data is actually $80.00 per month. This includes the $40 access charge for the smartphone   $40 for the 1GB data plan. I would like to look into the plan that you mentioned. I just sent you a follow request, please send me this information in a private message so that I can better assist.

  • Creating a site for mobile devices

    Good morning,
I have a number of questions relating to the creation of a
site for mobile devices. My client has given me the assignment to
re-design his current website, and to also create a sub-site
suitable for mobiles. I have spent a number of hours looking around
on the Internet and trying to gain a better understanding of these
issues. Still, a number of questions remain. if you can give me any
additional understanding, that would be great.
    Question 1:
Is my understanding correct: I basically need to create two
sites, one for the wide-screen browser, and one for the mobile
browser? I can direct visitors to the mobile site using a CSS or
javascript link - if their browser identifies them as a mobile
    browser?
    Question 2
Mobile devices come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and
versions. PDA\s and iPhone's have different screensizes and
resolutions that smart--phones, which in turn are different again
from older and simpler phones. Should I design a site for a number
of different types of phones? That would a huge amount of work...
    Question 3
I also own Device Central, an App which I should think is
very useful in this situation. But I fail to understand it! OK, so
I can see what my photo or website or flash file looks like on my
Nokia N73 - but I am not designing specifically for that phone. I
also want my design to look good on all the other phones! My client
needs a website that is not tailored to one phone, but to all
    phones.
    Question 4
And why does Device Central not have profiles for the iPhone?
I would think it is popular enough to warrant its own profile... (I
post this from the Netherlands, where the iPhone is not carried
yet, and so I have only ever held one in my hand). Is this because
the iphone can see regular sites just fine?
    Question 5
How does Dreamweaver help me build a mobile site?
    Question 6
My client wants to show video on his website. In fact, that's
what this website is all about: showing sports-videos from high
profile sporting events. Which video-formats are most suitable?
    Question 7
Do all mobile phones support flash? Or only a few? Or none?
It seems to me that a flash website would allow for more creativity
    in the design.
Thanks for any help you can give. Any resources you could
point me to are also very welcome...
    Sincerely,
    Rogier Bos
