Add event-description-file to iphoto

Hi everyone
Is there a way to add a Text-Document (e.g. OpenOffice oder even Textedit) to an event in iPhoto 8 (or perhaps in 9). I know it's possible to add one to aperture, but I intended to continue to use iPhoto.
The content of the Text-Doc would be a description of the event (could be rather long depending of the event.)
When I try to drag&drop it I get: Unreadable Files. The following file could not be imported. (This file is in an unrecognized format.)
I thought about convert it to jpg, but the problem would come when I want to edit it.
Thanks for the help.

You can do a print and in the bottom left open the PDF menu and select save PDF to iPhoto
You can not edit this image but each time you go back to word (or text edit r what ever) you do it again and delete the old one from iPhoto so you continually edit the word file and create a new iPhoto image

  • "Add a description" box in iPhoto'11

In my old version of iPhoto '08, I was able to adjust the size of the photo information dialogue box to type and view a description of a photo.  We were able to write paragraphs in the photo information "description" area.  In the new version of iPhoto ' 11, I can not enlarge the "Add a description" more than the two lines that are visible.  Is there a way to enlarge the "Add a description" so that I can see more than two lines?

  • IPhoto Event Description "Backup"

Is there a way to backup the Event Descriptions I've made in iPhoto to the appropriate folder's Spotlight folder comments?
I use a referenced library for a variety of reasons, and each Event is also a folder of the same name, so it would be a nice backup if things went south.
Note: I do regular backups through Time Machine and other external drives, but if something happened to corrupt the library or even if I decided to use another program (thus losing the descriptions from iPhoto)...

At this point, I'm just starting to make descriptions, so I could just do the copy-paste thing while I'm putting those together.
    Thanks.

  • How to I add ADPDF9 PPD to the printer description file in InDesign CS6?

I am having problems creating a clean PS file for booklet spreads and was advised to add ADPDF9 PPD to the printer description file in InDesign CS6. Can someone please tell me how to do this?

@Ihatecomputers – yes. Quite simple, if you have the PPD file at hand:
    On Max OSX:
    1. Go to Applications / Adobe inDesign CS6 / Presets
    2. Create a folder with the following exact name: PPDs
    3. Copy ADPDF9.PPD into that folder
    Restart InDesign.

  • Will the data entered under "Add a description" in iPhoto migrate with the images into Photos?

Will the data entered under "Add a description" in iPhoto migrate with the images into Photos?

Thanks for the reply. My particular use of iPhoto is for documents that I have photographed from archives, libraries, and other repositories across the US and Europe. For each one I have added a complete citation and notes. I am so relieved to hear that all my years of work on this will migrate with the new app!

  • IPhoto "Add a description..." loses focus

Not sure if this is a feature by design or an oversight. When I click into the comment field on a particular photo within iPhoto v9.2.1 (the field that reads "Add a description..."), I can obviously add a text. But as soon as I simply move the mouse outside this field the focus on this field is lost. To continue adding or editing text one has to click into this field again. What do you think is this on purpose or a design oversight?

  • Evaluating FXG files - possible to access elements and add event handlers?

I would like to read an existing FXG file into flash builder and then datamine the file for elements, and add event handlers to those elements.
For instance, if I have two rectangles in an FXG file (not in the flash builder mxml) and then read it in, I'd like to search for every rectangle and add an event handler that detects a mouse click. If the FXG code changes to three rectangles, I don't want to change my mxml for flash builder.
    Is this possible?

I'm seeing a pretty tragic death using the following, where theDiagram.fxg is in the assets directory. Does <Graphic> map to a SpriteVisualElement, or is the <Graphic> composed of SpriteVisualElements?
    import assets.theDiagram;
    private var fxgCls:Class = theDiagram as Class;
    private var fxgElement:SpriteVisualElement = new fxgCls() as SpriteVisualElement;

  • I have an EHD with windows files on it, Can I add my photo's from iPhoto to it?

I need to back up my photo's from my mac. I have always just copied and pasted from my old windows laptop on to my EHD. I'm new to the mac world, can my EHD support the Mac files or do I have to format the EHD for Mac. If I do, will I still be able to put my old windows files back on?
Also, what is the best way to back up files from iPhoto to the EHD?
    Thanks

  • Repeating add a description in iPhoto

I find that the 'add a description' field under the information tab will populate itself with a common description that I may have put on one or two photos - but now it is on hundreds of them.  Sometimes it is a camera brand name - some times it is the repeating notation.  Anyone know how they may have gotten there and is there a group way to remove the notation?

I will reply to my own note - I used search to locate the photos with the phrase.  I selected all of them.  Then used PHOTOS>BATCH CHANGE - selected Description and unchecked the box that says APPEND TO EXISTING.  With the text field blank - it inserted the blank into all the selected photos.  Still not sure how it got there, but it is now fixed.

  • Additional information is being added to the description field in iPhoto

    Hi all
I have an Events file in iPhoto for Aircraft I have taken photographs of.   They are stored in 'registration order - ( eg. A-ABCD - Z-EFGH, etc.)    To each photograph I have added a description in the 'description field ' which includes make, model, construction number, owner and where seen including flight information.    When I had about 200 photographs I noted information from one photograph had been added to many of the others.    In due course I deleted the additional information,  leaving just the information I originally entered.   Now I have over 900 photographs and this problem has arisen again.   On many of the photographs information added to a particular aircraft has been added to many of the others - added not over written.   In some instances information from two aircraft has been added.
Obviously I can go through each photograph and delete the additional information but this will take time.   Can anyone offer advice as to why this is happening and how can I ensure it does not repeat again.   I have many more photographs to add to the Aircraft folder but I am reluctant to do so until I can prevent recurrence.
    TIA
    Regards
    Bill

    I would try rebuild iPhoto.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Selected event/photo import from iPhoto to LR 5.6

    Greetings,
I've been using LR (OS X) since v3 to tune up selected photos. With the news that iPhoto is going away I've decided to import all future photos into LR. I can't justify importing all of my existing iPhoto pictures (>10k across multiple iPhoto libraries). At present, I import new photos from my cameras with custom dated filename, text field "event" description, etc. into LR and flag rejects for later deletion.
Much of what resides in my iPhoto libraries contains family events, vacations and other things that are fine where they are. I plan on using copy/import (with the same custom file naming as my camera imports) to bring my best photos and important events into LR and leave the others were they reside (where I can fire up iPhoto to grab a particular one if needed).
My question is: Is there a better approach (that might include use of the LR iPhoto import plug-in)? I don't mind having copies of photos in two places (iPhoto and LR) since I am only importing a fraction of my existing iPhoto data.
    Thanks.

I found selectively importing was not feasible using the iPhoto importer plug-in. It is an "all or nothing" proposition (you cannot select a subset of photos to import). I ended up with thumbnails, photos and a mess of individual date folders.
I opted for importing the entire iPhoto library "Masters" folder for each of my iPhoto libraries into separate folders (not creating sub folders!) and using custom filenames.
The way I was able to reference the Masters folder in each iPhoto library was by creating a symbolic to each in my Pictures folder and then starting a custom import in LR.
Assuming your iPhoto libraries exist in a different location (OSXbackupHD for example), open the Terminal app (Applications Utilities Terminal)
Create a link to an existing iPhoto library by entering a command along the lines of:
    ln -s /Volumes/OSXbackupHD/Scratch/iPhotoLibraries/iPhone_iPhoto\ Library.photolibrary ~/Pictures/iPhone5s_Import
The above command creates a pointer to the source directory (on a different volume) in your Pictures folder. Once this is created you can use the LR import mechanism to copy/import (or just import and leave the originals where they reside).
Note: make sure you set the import source to the Masters folder within your iPhoto library instead of the top level iPhoto directory to avoid importing thumbnails and other duplicates.

  • Even via time machine the new osx lion has deleted all my latest files in iPhoto and will only revert back to an old 2009 backup?

even via time machine the new osx lion has deleted all my latest files in iPhoto and will only revert back to an old 2009 backup?... Help?!

Have you verified that the original files are missing from the Originals/Masters folder?  There are time when the library might appear empty due to a damaged database file but still has the files.  If you can open the library package via the Finder to see if the files are really missing or just can't be seen by iPhoto there are fixes you can try.
If the files are there make a temporary, backup copy of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
