Add event to iCal on iPad

I can't figure out how to add an event to iCal on my iPad. Just updated OS and synced to iCloud now there doesn't seem to be an option.

You should see a icon on the bottom right of the Calendar window. Is that missing in your display? Apple - iPad 2 - See your day, week, month, or year in a glance.

since the update to ios i no longer have the ability to add appointments or new calendars on the ical. i can modify existing appointments but can't make new ones. i have rebooted the ipad. nothing is working.

Have you tried clicking "Reset Sync History..." in iSync preferences?
Also, make sure you have at least one 'local' calendar set up in iCal - rather than just 'subscribed' ones.

Go to Settings>iCloud>Calendar>On. Toggle it on and off. Leave it on if you want to sync with iCloud but then don't sync with your computer or you may get duplicate entries.

The SMS links thing is highly annoying. You don't have to copy/paste however. You should see an icon like this: (>) to the right of the text bubble with the link. Tap on that, the in the screen that opens, tap "Visit".
Alternatively, you can tap twice directly on the link, then hold your finger down after the second tap.
Still unnecessarily difficult, but not as bad as copy/paste.
What I don't get is why can't I find any mention of this change or how to fix it (if even possible) elsewhere online?

Can't add event on iCal via iCloud anymore

Since i update my mac in 10.7.5, it's impossible for me to add an event into iCal it said "Le serveur a répondu « 500 » à l’opération CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation."(yes, it's in french). When i try it on iCloud directly by using safari, it said that the server encounter an error.
So, my event aren't synch anymore on my mac and phone, but my contact still are...
anyone with a clue?

You may have un-selected the default calendar in iCal. Click on "Calendars" in the upper left, and see if any of your calendars are un-selected. (Also, go into iCal preferences and under the General tab see what is your Default Calendar. That's where new events are created.)

Why do my events change in the day view, when I create a new event? (iCal for iPad 2)

Every time I create a new event in the day view in iCal on iPad, the other events (which I created before for the same day) change their starting and/or their ending time.

You are getting entagled in the two confusing meanings of the term pixels, namely as a unit identical to points and equalling 1/72 inch, and the basic component of raster images (and effects).

Deleting New Event in iCal on iPad

Unwittingly, I have "entered" a "New Event" in iCal on my iPad 2. I would like to delete it but haven't been able to do so.
Does anyone know how I can delete the "New Event"?
I would appreciate your help and suggestions.

1. Click on an event.
2. A bar with a dot on then let side, the name of the evet, and a hardly visible small edit button on the right side will appear.
3. Click the edit button: the edit window will open.
4. Scroll down to the large red Delete Event button.
5. Click the Delete button.
New iPad, latest IOS. I do not see the Trash icon mentioned in the other post. Maybe an earlier IOS.

He Nicholas, thanks for your reply. All the things you mention I already tried. As I wrote, if I do a factory settings reset and replace my backup, it works for about 1 of 2 days. I can add events again. And then suddenly, I cannot add anything anymore and the same problem comes back. So a factory restore works for a short period. That's maybe the most mysterious part. Someone else with ideas to solve the problem?

How do I add events to iCal from emails instead of Entourage

When I first set up my Pro last year I brought my Outlook data over to Entourage. I later discovered I liked Mail, iCal and Address Book better so converted over to these programs. I just upgraded to the new Office for Mac and now when I click a date / event in an email to let it add it automatically to iCal, Entourage starts up and wants to put the event there. I can't find any settings in iCal or Entourage that prevent Entourage from doing this. Am I missing something or do I need to uninstall just Entourage from my Pro?

In Mail preferences, is Mail or Entourage selected as the default mail reader?
The reason for the question is that since the calendar and email client are part of the same package with Entourage, if it is selected as primary, the calendar my get called by default.

You should be able to edit an event in the Calendars app by tapping the event in quuestion and then tapping edit shown here:

Tap the event to display event details, including the name of the calendar that contains the event:

Cannot enter event in iCal on iPad

Got new iPad 2
Got I cloud set up enter events on my Mac And they appear on the iPad (and phone) no worries but I cannot enter any events on the iPad
Get message "calendar not set" or "event does not belong in that event store"
Anybody got any ideas on that .....?....

Add event in iCal from Mail

I know there is a way to do this I just dont know how. Also, I need it to be only certain emails from a couple of senders, not every email they send with a date. Is there any way this can be done? I appreciate the help

I've been working on trying to get .vcs files from my email into iCal using Applescript, and have written a script that I can drop the .vcs files onto which will then import them into the calendar.... Here is a link to my post in the Applescript forum regarding this...

I THINK this will work to get you to the post. If not, let me know and I can drop you a copy of the script. I don't think the script will suit your needs "off the shelf" but I think there would only need to be one modification to it so that it will work for you.... Right now I have it set up to import the same event into two different calendars. All that needs to happen is for me to change it so that it only imports to 1 calendar. Let me know if you are not an Applescripter, and I will see if I can whip those changes off for you....

I can no longer add an event on iCal in my iphone.

I am now on iCloud. Since I went to iCloud, I can no longer add events on ICal on the phone. I only use iCal from the phone, not from my Mac. I have removed iCal from ICloud and still no change. I cannot add events to my iPhone ICal. Help!

If you list the steps you have taken to fix this it will help.
Have you tried using the File > New Event menu item?
Have you logged the user account out/ restarted the computer?
Have you tried un-syncing any accounts synced to Calendar?
Is there some change made to the computer that may have triggered this?

I just got an iPad 2 and I am unable to add events in iCal. There is no + symbol and I am unable to add a new event by tapping, double tapping, or holding the screen. Any suggestions? Thanks!

My problem is that there is no plus sign. I have no add button and I can't click on times to enter a new event. Is there a software update to fix this?

Recognizing dates in mail and adding events to iCal

How do I make OSX recognize dates in mail and add events to iCal?
This works on my laptop, but not my iMac. They have the same new version of OSX and iCal.
I cant figure out what setting makes this work on one machine and not the other.

First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
If the issue persists:
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV, exchange, etc.) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
