Hi,
Does anybody kows how to push directly exchange email distribtution list in to lync2013. ( only selected list that contains country wise employee )
Thanks & Regards,
Bhautik Shah
Hi,
You can add Exchange email distribution list into Lync 2013 Contact Card as Tab of “Membership”.
If Lync server have integration with Exchange server, you can change the value of TurnOffMemberOfTab to “0” with the following path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\common\contactcard if you use Outlook 2010.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\15.0\common\contactcard if you use Outlook 2013.
You can refer to the link below, it is for Lync server 2010 but similar for Lync server 2013:
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/outlook-2010/turn-contact-cards/

Exchange 2013 Dynamic Distribution Groups in Lync 2013
Working on a new Exchange 2013 Lync 2013 environment. I'm having trouble getting Dynamic Distribution groups that exist in Exchange to populate in to the Lync Address book. Currently If I create a normal Distribution list in Exchange,
it populates in to Lync as I would expect and can be searched and added to a users Contact list. But for whatever reason the Dynamic distribution groups do not show at all in Lync. They do show properly in the Exchange & Outlook Client GAL.
And I can use them to send email to recipients. I'm stumped and can;t find any documentation that addresses if it is by design or if I have missed something.By design it won't work, here is documentation.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398577.aspx
Lync Server 2013 uses the Distribution List Expansion Protocol (DLX) to expand distribution lists. This protocol also specifies the web service method that is used to get the membership of a distribution list. Microsoft Exchange Server supports dynamic groups
that do not have members statically assigned to them. Instead, they store queries that are evaluated when the group is expanded. DLX does not support dynamic distribution lists.

Question about adding Distribution Groups to Lync 2013 clients
Hello Everybody,
Hopefully somebody can assist me with this issue. I created a Universal Distribution Group within our domain which consists of about 75 people. I logged onto the lync server and ran Update-CsAddressBook waited for it to complete and then
followed Terence Luk guide to force the lync 2013 client update http://terenceluk.blogspot.com/2013/02/forcing-lync-2013-client-to-download.html However
even after the update has completed I am unable to locate this group in the lync client any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Hi,
Please type the complete sip address to search it.
If the issue persists, please remove lync profile and sign in again.

Using PowerShell to do a recursive lookup of members of a Exchange Distribution Group
I am trying to get the members (DisplayName, PrimarySMTPAddress) of several Exchange distribution groups. Using Get-DistributionGroupMember gets me the first level of information, but in many cases there are nested distibution groups. How can I get the
members of each nested group?Paul ArbogastPaul
Change lines 66 and 67 to
$obj | Add-Member -membertype noteproperty -Name GroupMember -Value $member.DisplayName
$obj | Add-Member -MemberType noteproperty -Name EmailAddress -Value $member.PrimarySMTPAddress
Optionally, change 90 to
$obj | Add-Member -MemberType noteproperty -Name EmailAddress -Value $LostGroup

Our environment, installed DirSync and no on-premise Exchange in environment. In Office 365 portal, if I need to change Exchange distribution Group, it require to change on-premise AD.
The question is if I want to update "ownership memeber" (not group memeber) and "membership approval" attribute, how can I do without EMC ?
thanks

Cannot add groups to Lync 2013 contact list
Just recently we've had reports (and I can verify this myself) in the Lync 2013 client if you add a group to the contact list, it says "Cannot perform this action, and the cause is unknown. Contact your support team to investigate this problem."
There is no issue adding individual users to the lync contact list, just if you search for a group (for example, Accounting) and this group is an easy way to add lets say 5 accounting associates to lync instead of individually adding each person at a
time.
Any idea how to diagnose this? In checking my Lync client version I get this:
Microsoft Lync 2013 (15.0.4675.1000) MSO (15.0.465.1002) 32-bit
Part of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013
The server is Lync 2013 as well.
Exchange 2013 is used on premise if that matters.

To better understand the issue, I would like to collect the following information for troubleshooting:
1. Group expansion is enabled and disabled by using the
Set-CsWebServiceConfiguration cmdlet. Please make sure
EnableGroupExpansion
parameter is set to
true .
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398396.aspx
2. Can you run the command
Test-CsGroupExpansion to test the ability of a user to employ group expansion ?

my company is currently using exchange 2010. I am currently attempting to create a distribution group for multiple employees who work in the same department, and need to collectively respond to emails sent to one mailbox. However, these employees don't
need a personal email. How can I create a distribution group and add members without those members having a personal email account in the exchange serverYou don't need a distribution group - you need a mailbox that you grant all these users access to. Technically, you can do this, but it's going to be tricky, and I've never done it myself. Just thinking it through, you would:
Create a security group for the team
Create a shared mailbox for the team (New-Mailbox -Shared etc ...)
Open the account properties in a tool like ADSIEdit
Click the Security tab on the properties page and click the
Advanced button
Click the Add button, and add the group
On the Permission Entry page, scroll down to the bottom and select Send as
and Receive as
That should give the team the rights they need in the mailbox. To log into the mailbox in Outlook, they will do the following:
Open Outlook
On the Add Account screen, select Manually configure etc and click
Next
Select Microsoft Exchange etc and click Next
They will need to type the server name and their mailbox name, then they can click
Next
If they get a logon dialog, they put in their own username and password, then click
OK
That should get them what they need. I do not know if this is supported by Microsoft, though, so you may wish to hear from a Microsoft person for more information. -
How to get Exchange Distribution Groups in Mail on iPad / iPad 2
Hello...
Maybe I'm missing something, but for some reason, the distribution groups I create for myself in Exchange 2010 ( personal mailbox ) are NOT showing in Mail on my iPad. Is there something that I need to do in order for them to sync?
I appreciate any help someone can give!just start started using Exchange Online and also discovered this. Shared mailboxes and distribution group doesn't work on iOS devices and also OSX Mail.App, unfortunatly.

Exchange Distribution Groups not updating in Active Directory
Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is intended behaviour or not, but any distribution group we create in Exchange ECP does not update in Active Directory Users and Computers. Any particular reason why?
For example, we have a user group called "Managers" and we've recently created a new group called Area Managers. We've since moved some people out of Managers and put them in Area Managers, however in Active Directory all we see is the Managers
group with all the old managers in there. The OU for the Area Managers group has been set correctly.

@WindowsZachHi,
Please run the following command to confirm the members of two groups.
Get-DistributionGroupMember -Identity Area Managers
Get-DistributionGroupMember -Identity Managers
I also suggest to remove the member from “Managers” in AD then check the members of “Managers” in EAC to check this problem.
Best Regards.

VMO and message sent to exchange distribution group
Unity Connection 8.6 with VMO 8.6.7
So with the registry setting voicemailupload_play = 1 --- old VM's or emails with WAV attachments will play as a VM
thru the phone but not light up the MWI.
However, if I send a VM using VMO from Outlook to a distribution group on exchange...all the users receive the email (with the WAV)
and VMO controls but they can't play it back via the phone (the requested voice message is no longer available)? Yet the WAV file is
attached right to the message. Playback from VMO to computer works fine.
Is there a way to easily have this playback through the phone given this scenario? Seems like VMO should be able to handle this.
I'd love to have the MWI light up as well, but I'd settle for playback.Hi,
We have a distribution group set up for external's to email a couple of internal's, however all the emails that have been sent to the group have not been going into the distribution group members inbox.
I have looked at the exchange message tracking and can see a number of emails sent to the group.
Is there a way to retrieve these emails so they can be sent to the groups members?
Thanks.

Hosted Exchange Distribution groups i am part of
Hello,
I have setup a Hosted Exchange environment, i am filtering on ExtensionAttribute1 between company's.
Now when i create a Distribution group with ExtensionAttribute1 filled in this is still displayed when a users goes to OWA --> Options --> Groups When the user clicks on the butten to let him decide where to be a member of he will see all Distribution
Groups there are, regarding what i set in ExtensionAttribute1, so i have to hide all my Distribution Groups. The only workaround is to remove the group option from OWA as the Address book Policies (ABP), that I assume you setup, don't effect that view.
ABP's don’t apply to the Get-Group cmdlets. Therefore, any user or process that is able to run Get-Group will see all members of any group
they have access to.
We recommend that you modify the group management settings of the OWA Options so users can’t use Outlook Web App to manage groups. To prevent users from using OWA Options to manage groups,
exclude the users from the MyDistributionGroupMembership RBAC role. For details, see MyDistributionGroupMembership role.

I recall that when I would reply to an email that was sent to a distribution group that I belonged too, it would not send a copy of the email to myself as well. Does anyone happen to know what this feature was called and does anyone know why or how
to fix this?
Thank you!I dont think it was called anything, but the only way to prevent that is to create a rule ( Outlook) that will delete the messages sent to that DL in your inbox.
