Add filename as a keyword tag

Is there a way to automatically add the filename of the picture as a keyword tag to the picture itself?
I ask this because the pictures I upload to Flickr, for example, just show the filename value if the metadata field Title is empty, otherwise it uses the value from Title and Caption, metadata fields I use to describe the pictures. So, I end up losing the information to link the local picture to the published one.
I understand that doing this, if possibile, would hugely increase the number of keyword tags: 2000 pictures = 2000 different keyword tags used by a single picture. And that could slow down LR.
Anyone have an idea?

See
Filename as a keyword. A simple Forum Search would have brought this up. IT isn't that old.

  • How do I add a keyword tag in iPhoto on the iPad?

    I looked through the Help for iPhoto and couldn't find a section on how to add keyword tags to my images.
    Things like the names of the people in the photos, etc.
    The screen shots of iPhoto show a Face Taggging feature.
    How do I get to that?
    Thanks for any help or advice!

    I talked with Apple Support.
    The iPhoto app on the iPad is not the same as iPhoto on the Mac.
    It doesn't support adding keyword tags.
    Possibly a feature to be added in the future.
    I have iCloud enabled for PhotoStream.
    So my iPad picture was sent automatically to my download folder on my pc.
    I can take it from there into PhotoShop Elements and add the tags.

  • Unable to add Keyword Tags in Organizer PSE 9

    I am beyond frustrated at this point.  I have never run across a more buggy program than PSE9 (or 8 for that matter).  I am particularly having trouble with the organizer in PSE 9.  I have spent that last day or so tagging a catalogue of about 2000 photos when suddenly the organizer froze up.  I killed it and restarted.  Then it wouldn't even load.  So I thought to load another catalogue to see if that worked.  It loaded up just fine.  I switched to the catalogue I had had the problem with and PSE pretty much shut my computer down at that point.  So, I restarted the computer, loaded up the organizer and actually got it to open the catalogue.  I ran a repair on it.  It said that it had fixed some errors.  Great, I thought, everything is fine.  Well, no, it wasn't.  Now whenever I attempt to add a keyword tag, delete a keyword tag, or even add a caption, the organizer just gives me an error.  It is only happening on this particular catalogue.  I have repaired it, optimized it, and even regenerated the thumbnails.  I always get an error when I try to edit anything.  I can view the pictures just fine.  I can open them up from the organizer into the editor just fine.  I just can't delete, add captions or keyword tags at this point.  If I have lost the all the work I did last night and today tagging these photos, then I am going to be mighty mad.  If anyone has any suggestions, then please let me know.  I don't want to think that I have wasted time, and most of all, money on this program.  Thanks.

  • How do I automatically add filenames as keywords?

    I want my filename to always be added as a keyword/metadata.

    darn okay. i name them according to a hr/mm convention for race photos. then they only have to search for the hh/mm.

    Subject: How do I automatically add filenames as keywords?
    First, I still don't understand why anyone would want to search by file name if search by keyword was available.
    Putting the file name into a keyword essentially defeats the purpose of keywords. If you have 1000 files in your Lightroom Library Module, then you have 1000 distinct keywords, and I can't see how that is useful to anyone.
    But the bottom line is that I don't think Lightroom has the capability of putting file name into the keyword field.

  • Photoshop 7 to 11 Upgrade Adds Wrong Keyword Tags

    I recently upgraded from Photoshop 7 to 11 and now I'd finding that my photos have been automatically assigned additional and incorrect keyword tags. Most prevalent seems to be place and event mistagging. I'm now going back through all my photos to verify the correct tags and remove the incorrect.

    Please follow the link I posted; they'll be able to help you better over there.
    This is the forum for the full version of Photoshop, and it works differently.

  • Cannot edit or add keyword tags

    I'm getting this strange behvior and cannot figure out why.
    In the Keywording panel, the rectangle where you can enter or edit keyword tags shows a white border.  Tags cannot be added or changed.  The dropdown above the box is set to Enter Keywords.
    Not sure to how restore editing ability.
    Thank you,
    Robert

    Robert,
    Exiting and re-opening Lightroom is said to work. This bug has been described here before, but no one has been able to pin down the sequence of operations that causes it. If you can find a consistent way of making it happen, we'd love to hear, and the good folks at Adobe would be glad to hear as well.
    Most of the work in fixing a bug is finding a way to consistently reproduce it.

  • PSE10 - Keyword tags not all showing when tagging faces?

    When I import a new picture, if I manually add a face tagging box, then click on the text box and type the first letter of a name, only certain of my keyword tag names show up? Some do not??? For instance, if I have the names Bella, Bill and Bess already as keyword tag names, when I type in the letter B, only Bill and Bess show up - Bella NEVER does? it happens with many different names and it is random - can someone help me figure out why it is not recognizing all keyword tag names?

  • Associate old keyword tag (name) to a face in PSE 8.0?

    I have been using PSE 5 for a while, and am considering the upgrade to 8 .
    In the trial version, I saw a nice face recognition engine, with labeling capabilities.
    My question is, how to associate the names of people, that I have already labeled
    in the old version of PSE, with the new type of tag that is attached to automatically
    recognized faces.
    I have thousands of images in my catalog, most of them tagged with the names
    of the people in them. After importing to PSE 8, the names are considered as
    "keyword" tags, but I would like to turn them to face recognition features.
    By the way, is there a way to see the list of faces PSE recognizes, and Edit/Arrange them ?
    Thanks,
    Gideon.

       Thanks for your assistance.
       Since long time has passed from the time I asked the question, I discovered
    a few things.
    1) This observation is correct, but since I used to have PSE 5, which does not have face recognition, it does not matter much.
    2) This is what I would expect from the program. However, from my question one can understand that it does not actually happen. What I found out since, is that it sometimes happens. I think that generally, if I first tag the image with the names, and then apply the face recognition procedure, the program would identify the tag with the name I gave the face. This does not always happen though (I think). However, if I just apply the face recognition program, and give a face a name (that already exists as a tag), the program adds a new tag with the same name and the association is not made. I believe there are further complications which I have not investigated fully. After the program recognizes a face, by its pattern recognition, and this name already exists as an old name tag, does it actually use this tag, or does it add a new name (assuming the picture was not previously labeled).
    3) I would expect the program to perform face recognition on old pictures, which are already labeled with names, for which the program was already trained, by giving priority to these tags in the face recognition.

  • How to implement metadata keyword tags

    Can someone please advise me on how to implement meta keyword tag <meta name="keyword" content="..."> for individual community page? We have a set of keywords for each community page. I know we can just add the line above to base page layout if they are common keywords to all the community page but not sure whats the best way to add unique set of meta keyword tags to individual community page? FYI - We are using UCM for managing content for our site.

    I always did this using a property on the page object.
    1. Create a new property called "meta-keywords" and associate it to the community pages object through the global object property mapper utility.
    2. Edit your community page and add any keywords you desire.
    3. Write a custom tag for said property that takes a uuid as input (this way you can migrate and the tag remains the same.
    4. same idea works for any meta tag.
    Note: you are limited to 255 characters this way.
    Or you can probably code some kind of tag that reads from UCM as well, but i always did it the above way.
    Here is a tag example:
    public class MetaPropertyCurrentPage extends ATag {
         private OpenLogger log = OpenLogService.GetLogger(
                   OpenLogService.GetComponent(PTDebugHelpers.COMPONENT_PORTAL_COMMON),
                   "customizations.tag.standard.MetaPropertyCurrentPage");
         public static final RequiredTagAttribute UUID;
         public static final ITagMetaData TAG;
         static {
              TAG = new TagMetaData("currpageproperty",
                        "Displays the value of the property in the current page from the uuid.");
         UUID = new RequiredTagAttribute("uuid", "The UUID for the property you want to open.",
    AttributeType.STRING);
         @Override
         public ATag Create() {
              return new MetaPropertyCurrentPage();
         @Override
         public HTMLElement DisplayTag() {
              log.Info("Entering meta lookup");
              String objectid;
              String classid;
              HTMLElement result = new HTMLElementCollection();
              IEnvironment env = GetEnvironment();
              AActivitySpace owner = TaskAPIUICommon.GetEnvTypeObject(env);
              //get pageid
              int pageid = TaskAPIUICommunity.GetCurrentCommunityPageID(owner);
              //check if not a community page
              if (!TaskAPIUICommunity.IsCurrentPageCommunityPage(owner))
                   return result;
              //convert to objectid
              try
                   Object[] objectAndClassId = ((IPTMigrationManager)(((IPTSession)GetEnvironment()
                   .GetUserSession()).OpenGlobalObject(PT_GLOBALOBJECTS.PT_GLOBAL_MIGRATION_MANAGER,
                   false))).UUIDToObjectID(GetTagAttributeAsString(UUID));
                   objectid = objectAndClassId[PT_MIGRATION_OBJECT_COLS.PT_MOC_OBJECTID].toString();
                   log.Info( "found objectid" + objectid);
                   classid = objectAndClassId[PT_MIGRATION_OBJECT_COLS.PT_MOC_CLASSID].toString();
                   //check to make sure its a property
                   if (Integer.parseInt(classid) != PT_CLASSIDS.PT_PROPERTY_ID)
                        return new HTMLComment("UUID does not belong to a property");
              catch (Exception e)
                   log.Error(e, "error getting the objectid from the UUID.");

              //now get the property from it

              IPTObjectManager objMgr = session.GetPages();
              IPTPage page = (IPTPage)objMgr.Open(pageid, false);
              log.Info("Page name: " + page.GetName());
              IPTQueryResult qresult = page.GetObjectProperties().GetSinglePropertyData(Integer.parseInt(objectid), PT_PROPIDS.PT_PROPID_PROP_VALUE);

  • File Write Keyword Tag don't create a xmp file

    Hi,
    I use PSE 8 with WIN7 64 Ultimate.
    When I used the  File > Write Keyword Tag command, no xmp file is created. I saw, that the filename was renamed to xxx_edTMP-1.NEF for a short time and than the original name is show. The changedate of the file is not changed Sometimes the file is not renamed the new name is xxxx_edTMP-1.NEF.
    Why?
    Nils

    I assume that you are trying to write tags assigned to a Raw original.
    There is a bug that sometimes PSE does not write tags (or other metadata) to .xmp for Raw files. This usually depends on the type of file; this command never seems to work for .NEF files.
    A workaround is to use John R Ellis's psedbtool

  • Keyword Tags list Incomplete

    I've finally got round to importing my old scans into Lightroom. They all have comprehensive keywording. I don't use LR's hierarchical system, so all of my keywords are at the top level of the Keyword Tags list.
    But when I scroll through the list in the Keyword Tags pane on the LHS, it is truncated, only displaying the list as far as "Cesar". When I export the keywords as a .txt file, they're all there.
    Also, if I add new keywords by writing them in the Keyword Tags box on the RHS, it can take several minutes (yes, I do mean minutes, not seconds) of waiting before LR completes the action. I've tried Optimising the catalog, but it doesn't seem to make any difference, and 'backup' doesn't find any corruption in the catalog.
    Any Ideas? Or do I have to reorganise my keywords into a hierarchical structure?
    Patrick Cunningham

    Possman, Yes, I fully understand what you mean. I think if I were you I would want the same.
    In a hierarchical system as you have it is much easier to handle and remember)  a large number of keywords as many of them are implied ones (NH, NH7, NH76 eg). In a truly flat system (one without any structure at all) 10000 must be a nightmare.
    There are millions and millions of people taking pictures and there may be as much systems for keywording; everyone invents his or her own system. May be my background (ICT) forced me to think in a very structured and organized way. May be that's why I choose a hierarchical list from the beginning. I feel my keyword approach helped me in keeping the effort of tagging everything in LR  as small as possible. Although, let's be honest, on the road to success I have said some things I won't repeat here....
    I wonder if importing an existing tagging system would make one happy. It sounds attractive but a conversion/migration is sometimes even worse than starting from scratch: garbage in, garbage out. My brother in law tried to convert his system from old to new; it was a disaster. I took so much time that starting from scratch would have been wiser (and better for his marriage :-)).
    But I agree with you that LR should at least have an option to import what one has, no matter the number of keywords. From a commercial point of view that would be a very sound approach as well. Let the customer choose!
    However I still do not think one could demand from Adobe that LR should  be so open and so flexible that no matter which system will be imported  it will fit into LR without any problem. That is simply not possible I  am afraid. So there will always be disappointed users.
    But as Adobe is advertising LR as a DAM system their keywording solution should be more mature than it is right now.

  • Keyword tags on JPG from Photoshop Elements

    Hi,
    I have just started to use Lightroom and used to use Photoshop Elements for organizing my photos. And in Photoshop element I only put a keyword tag on the JPG file on and not on the RAW file. And after that I "hided" the RAW files in Photoshop elements.
    When nI ow is using Lightroom I would like to use the feature that "combines" the RAW and JPG file but Lightroom can't do it because of the keyword tag. Is there a way to get Lightroom to combine the files and add the keyword tags to the RAW file? Or how can I get this to work.
    Thanks

    I have tried to remove the keyword tag in Lightroom and also remove the pictures in the catalogue. And import them again and now the tools combines the photos. But as I have a lot of these photos I would like not the use this way forward... as I have to tag them again...

  • PSE 9 Organizer Error Adding Keyword Tags and Other Woes

    Hello, everyone.  I am having a ton of problems with PSE 9 Organizer.  The most frustrating and biggest problem is that I believe my catalog has been corrupted beyond repair.  I spent all of yesterday tagging my photos.  I had no problems and everything seemed to be going well until all of the sudden, the organizer suddenly froze up.  I had to use the Windows task manager just to get it to close.  This happened several times.  Finally, the organizer locked up my computer and I had to restart.  I opened the catalog and didn't seem to have any problems at that point.  I was able to view all of the images, video files etc.  I was even able to open the editor from the organizer.  When I tried to add a tag to a photo it gave me an error.  All it said was "error adding keyword tag" then nothing.  I tried to delete the photo and all it said was "error deleting photo".  This "error" shows up any time I try to make any changes to all of the images.  I can't add any new photos, can't delete, or add tags.  I have repaired the catalog several times.  It found errors the first time, but evidently that didn't fix my problem.  I also optimized and deleted my thumbnail cache to see if that was the issue.  Still nothing.  I have other catalogs and they work fine, so it is something to do with this particular catalog.  Any suggestions on what to do next?  Can I move the pictures to a new catalog without losing the tags?  And no, I didn't write the tags to the images because I wasn't done tagging.  Besides, PSE doesn't always write the tags correctly, as you probably know. Next problem.   When I first open PSE and select the organizer, it doesn't alway open.  I can see it on my taskbar (Windows 7 64 bit), but I can't get the window to maximize.  I have to close and open several times to get the window to open.  Sometimes it randomly jumps to my second monitor like it can't decide where to go.  Very frustrating.  I would appreciate any suggestions about what to do.  Thanks.

    Back to the original question, after thinking about this for a couple days I have had two ideas for workarounds:
    1)  Copy my tag names into the photo metadata and create a new catalog to bring all of my images into.  This will allow me to keep all of my existing tags, and it MIGHT solve the tag display problem based on a test with a couple images in a new catalog.  The downsides to this are a) permanently writes my tags into the photo metadata which will be bad if I decide to change something later, b) loses all version sets, and c) loses all albums (although I don't have that many).  I found instructions for this workaround at http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Merging_Catalogs.
    2)  Live with the lack of color tag display in Organizer, and use reverse searches to find missing tag categories.  For example, if I want to find all photos that do not have a "Places" tag, I check the box next to the "Places" category (which also selects all sub-categories and tags below this).  Then I go to the Options drop-down in the Find Bar and "Hide best match results" and "Show results that do not match".  This gives me every image in my catalog that does not have a tag from the "Places" category, so I can go through and tag these as appropriate.
    I would have gone with #1 if it weren't for the permanence of the keywords.  I guess I have a commitment problem (or I just haven't got my tag hierarchy figured out yet).  Instead, I am going with #2 which should give me most of what I need for now.  I will still hold out some small glimmer of hope that Adobe manages a fix for this issue down the road.

  • Keyword tags in PSE 2.0?

    Can I add keyword tags in PSE 2.0?

    Way back in version 2.0, there were separate programs called Photoshop Album, and Photoshop Elements. Purchasing one did not give you the other.
    So, if the question is really about Photoshop Elements 2, I think the answer is probably NO.
    If the question is really about Photoshop Album 2, the answer is definitely YES ... but ... it might be a good idea to upgrade to a more recent program, because at some point, PSA2 will not run on your new computer with a new operating system, and people have reported difficulty translating PSA2 tags to more current versions of Photoshop Elements software.
