Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
How did you try to do that? You should be able to attach files to an e-mail message by either (a) dragging them into the window of the message you're composing or (b) using the menu item File -> Attach File.

I need to save an online file to my ipad and then email it as an attachment from my school email? It is my college gmail account and I can't add it to my mail app. This was an assignment for class to make sure we could use the BB email system.
You can use your gmail account within the native Mail app using IMAP
Make sure you've enabled IMAP in your main Gmail settings
Open the Settings app on your device
Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Tap Add Account...
Tap Gmail
Enter your account information, being sure to use your full Gmail address, including '@gmail.com'
Tap Next

How can i send a folder containing multiple excel file to a mail address?
hi ,
i have report showing details sales report. Key field is customer id. my requirement is to send the output of this report as excel file to a mail id according to customer id. suppose there are 100 customer id , so 100 excel sheet will go to the mail. I have done it. But now i want to send a folder or zip folder that's containing all the excel file to the mail id so the mail user can download that folder at a time containg all the excel file. Is it possible ? if then how. i have used cl_bcs , cl_document_bcs and if_recipient_bcs these class and interface.
I need your suggestion.Hi Sandipan,
You can use some of this classes: CL_ABAP_ZIP or CL_ABAP_GZIP
For example:
DATA: OBJ_ZIP TYPE REF TO CL_ABAP_ZIP,
ZIP_FILE TYPE XSTRING.
CREATE OBJECT OBJ_ZIP.
OBJ_ZIP->ADD( NAME = <file_name> CONTENT = CONTENT ).
OBJ_ZIP->ADD( NAME = <file_name2> CONTENT = CONTENT ).
ZIP_FILE = OBJ_ZIP->SAVE( ).
You can also visit this Otto Frost detailed post on GZIP:
http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/profile/GZIP
I hope that helps.

John

Looking forward for your timely response,
Thanks & Regards
SiddharthaDear Bill@VT,
Thanks for your timely response, by attachment I meant any file that can be added as an attachment, it could be any file, it does not mean to insert pages, it means the same as when you attach a file in your email, while sending the mail to some one, now the thing is that I want the same functionality in Adobe Reader, so do u have any idea, for the same......
Looking forward for your response

Add Files java applet does not trust our certificate
We have installed Novell Filr and it is working great except for one issue. The java applet that runs when the Add Files button is clicked does not trust our certificate authority. We purchased and installed a SSL certificate, and both IE and Firefox accept it (before installing, we got a certificate warning every time we went to Filr).
The certificate authority is Starfield Secure Certificate Authority, and we use certificates from them for our websites and mail servers, so I do not understand why this applet and/or Java do not.
Is there any way to stop the scary warning message our users get. FYI - this happens the first time the Add Files button is clicked in each session.

That sounds a little different than what this was designed to fix, but
by any chance have you installed the updated Java applets on the Filr
appliance?

Hi Paul
Whatever you do it will not work properly especially when some of the users try to use "edit in place". Save yourself the headache and install trusted certificate (primary and intermediate) then even Java will work ok. -
Hi,
I have done a script within Automator that does take filtered information in one Excel-file and copy it to another and close it. I choose a name for it and saves it. Could I get it to automatically attach this file inside a mail document in Mail.app and let me send it manually?
I also would like it to automatically uncheck 1904 Date option inside Excel prefs.If you know the name of the workbook, then add this applescript to the workflow, while the file is still open.on run {input, parameters}
tell application "Microsoft Excel"
set the date 1904 of workbook "Sheet1" to not the date 1904 of workbook "Sheet1"
send mail workbook "Sheet1"
end tell
return input
end runSubstitute the name of the workbook for Sheet1
I couldn't get any of the excel actions to pass the name into the Applescript action.
As for emailing, I can't get Excel to pass any of it's action results onto anything but it's own actions. They don't seem to be very well written. Normally, you'd just add a "New Mail Message" action after something and the output from the previous action would be the content for the new mail message.
Due to Microsoft's shortcomings, there doesn't seem to be a way to do that without using the "send mail" function in Excel's Applescript dictionary.
If you need to do more Applescripting of Excel (or Office), see the [VBA to Applescript Transition Guide|http://www.mactech.com/vba-transition-guide>. It is geared towards converting from VBA to Applescript, but it has many examples of how to automate various tasks.

I have downloaded an 82mb mp3 file from another service. When I choose File, Add file to Library, I select the file and click open. There is a pause and then the add file dialogue box disappears as if it has successfully finished. However my file does not show up in my library. I have downloaded other files from this other service and done this with no problem. This file will play in Musicmatch but I cannot get into iTunes. Please help.
It looks like an Applescript error message to me.
My knowledge about that is far too limited to give you a clue.
You could post it in the Applescript forum to know what it means.
Or ask in the Applescript for iTunes forum at iLounge or send a mail to the other Doug (links are on this page at 'Drop me a line')

I have a smart which i am able to convert it to a pdf file...now.. can any one tell me how to attach a pdf file to the mail through workflow
Hi,
To create the task for attachment
Use the BOR SELFITEM and method NOTES_APPEND.
The out come of this task contain a link called attachment with a clip attached. Clisk on that icon and choose the type of attachment u want . RAW , EXCEL , TXT , PDF... Then using the import icon u can attach the document u like.
But the TYPE : OBJ.
Similarly using NOTE_DISPLAY method u can display the documents u like.
In any work item u have the facility to attach any atttchment for further circulation .
Attchment @ WORKITEM
1.Click the workitem for which you want to create the attchment
2.Press create attachment
3. Add the attachment u like (PDF)

Add Signature to E-Mails Sent from Preview
When I e-mail a document from Preview my signature is not automatically added to the e-mail. I can add it quickly from the signatures on the right, but I am running a small business and don't want the risk of forgetting to add it.
Mail automatically adds the signature to new messages and to replies, it just doesn't add it from an e-mail created in Preview.
To duplicate: open an image or PDF in Preview. Click on File --> Mail Image. A new mail message is created with the document attached, but the new e-mail does not automatically include my signature.
I am using OS X 10.5.8, Mail 3.6 (936), and Preview 4.2 (469.5).Yes, same here, but the funny thing is that it tries to add it, (can tell because if the signature has external links, then Little Snitch will ask if Mail can connect to it just like composing a new one that does display it), but the signature drop down always says None & it doesn't display.
Copying the text of the PDF in Preview & using Services>Mail>Sand Selection does add the signature, but of course no PDF layout, just the text.
Only workaround I found is lots more work... Open PDF in Acrobat or Reader, File>Attach to Mail... new window opens without sig, Select All of the body, copy, close mail, CMD+n for a New mail, click in body, paste, sig is there.
I don't expect that to be a workable solution. -

In Elements 11 how do I get the verification code needed to send files as e-mail attachments ?
In Elements 11 how do I get the verification code to send files as e-mail attachments ?
I’ve found it usually works best with web mail via Adobe after obtaining verification. I know some email services block bulk email completely and I’ve only tested it with Gmail which works fine. Should also work with other web mail e.g. Yahoo and Hotmail. Give it a try. Before you start it will help to check your internet security settings. If they are set to High, reduce the settings to Medium temporarily. Then follow these instructions.
1. Log in to your mail provider on the web and add the following email to your address/contacts book.
[email protected]
2. Open Organizer and on the menu click:
Edit >> Preferences >> Sharing
3. Choose Adobe Email Service from the client dropdown menu.
4. Add your name and email address to the fields provided and click OK
5. Test the system (first use only) by selecting a photo in organizer and choosing Share >> Photo Mail then click Next (Mac users should use attachments)
6. Choose a contact then click Next
7. Click Next Step, then click Next - the sender verification dialog will open.
8. Check you have spelt your email address correctly and hit the Resend E-Mail button.
9. Go to your inbox (also check spam) and when the Adobe mailer message is received copy (Ctrl+C) the long verification code.
10. Return to the verification dialog and paste it (Ctrl+V) into the Sender verification field and click OK. Wait for validation confirmation then click OK to continue -
Can I move Mail (Lion) files back to Mail (Snow Leopard)?
Hi,
I've encountered a screwy problem and am wondering if there is an easy fix. I have an iMac at the office that is now running Lion, and a MacBook Pro at home running Snow Leopard (which I am keeping there for now because of the Quicken issue with Lion). Anyway, my laptop hard drive totally failed (still trying to recover the data but have been unsuccessful so far...worst drive failure I've ever encountered...even TechTool Pro tech support couldn't help) and I lost literally 10s of thousands of emails over the last many years. I have the vast majority of those emails on my iMac, but the file structure is all changed now so it is not straightforward to just copy-paste folders from the iMac (Lion) to the MacBook (Snow Leopard).
I can think of two tedious ways to move the files:
1) Actually burrow into the ridiculous level of folders in the Lion Mail structure and copy directly...but I'm not willing to spend that time for 10s of thousands of emails.
2) All prior years emails are in folders "On My Mac" on the iMac, so I can re-upload the emails via IMAP and then download them to MacBook...but this is tiresome.
That said, is there a way to easily backward import the Lion Mail files to Snow Leopard Mail?
Thanks,
- DCHi everyone,
I was able to import my Apple Mail after downgrading from Lion to Snow Leopard.
Here is what I did:
- In Mail, click Mailbox > New Mailbox.
- in the New Mailbox dialog box, select "On My Mac" as the location and give it any "MailboxName" you want. Click OK.
- Now in Finder, open Library > Mail > Mailboxes > MailboxName.mbox. In the MailboxName.mbox folder (where MailboxName is whatever name you gave the mailbox), all you'll see is an info.plist file. Add a folder called "Messages".
- Go to the location where you've backed up all of your email from Lion and drill down to the Messages folder where you have all your .emlx files. Copy all of these .emlx files and paste them into the new Messages folder you've created (i.e., at the Library > Mail > Mailboxes > MailboxName.mbox > Messages location).
- Go back to Mail. If you open the new "MailboxName" folder under "ON MY MAC", you'll see that it is still empty. Snow Leopard Mail can't read the .emlx files from Lion Mail. But we're not done yet. There are some more steps.
- On the Mail File menu, click Import Mailboxes.
- Select Apple Mail and click Continue.
- Browse to Library > Mail > Mailboxes, select "MailboxName.mbox", click Choose, and then click Done.
- Snow Leopard Mail will now import Lion Mail. It creates an "Import" folder in Mail under "ON MY MAC". Expand the Import folder and you'll see a a folder with the "MailboxName" you selected. When you open this you'll see all of your mail items that came from Lion Mail.
- You can repeat the above for each mailbox you want to import.
