Add Folder to Library - No dialog box to select folder

Hi,
I wanted to designate a specific folder as the folder where iTunes / my iPhone should import music from. I want to limit iTunes to a specific folder as do not want comingle my Zune data as I have 100 gig of music which will not fit on my 32G 3GS.
When I click on File-->Add Folder To Library, I don’t get the expected dialog from where I can select the folder.
I can see from iTunes that its windows dims, meaning that another dialog has the focus however I cannot see this dialog window.
When I click on iTunes at this time, I get a beep and Browse For Folder outline / dialog flashes on the screen, but it is blank and I can just see the form caption in the top left.
Hitting ESC returns me to iTunes.
I am however able to do a file selection File-->Add File To Library without any problems.
Seems iTunes is a little buggy.
Any suggestions?

Here is maybe another clue.
Whenever any dialog message pops up (got a warning that some .MOV file would not be copied for some reason or another) I hit alt tab and changed to another applications. When I returned to iTunes the dialog had disappeared.
Again, the focus is not on the main iTunes application window and I can not interact with iTunes. Once I hit escape (which dismisses the dialog) control returns to the iTunes application and I can use it again.
Just to test, I changed my screen res to 1024 x 768 (I normally run 1920 x 1080) to see if iTunes dislikes my resolution. Same problems....
Any help much appreciated as I would like to get some music on my iPhone 3GS.

It would not be possible to add images in it. Use dialog boxes instead.
Create a view ... add an image UI element ..use imgSource as ~sapicons/image name or paste the image in src/mimes/components/ur comp name and give that for source.
You can create linktoaction.. and on its image property add an image for X and put that in one corner of the dialog box. and execute cancel action. when its clicked..

I have a JTable in which I wan to print only selected rows. When I open the Print dialog box using printDialog() method of PrinterJob, the dialog opens with "Selection" option disabled.

If you simply print a new table containing the selected data
then you don't need to have the Selection radio button enabled
in the print dialog box.

IBooks won't rebuild library when dialog box requires that I rebuild

When I open iBooks in OSX 10.9 Mavericks, a dialog box appears saying my library could not be located. It gives the option to 1) Quit, 2) Try Again, and 3) Rebuild Library.
Selecting Quit quits iBooks
Selecting Try Again immediately pops up the same dialog box
Selecting Rebuild quits iBooks. There is no crash log that appears (otherwise I would have posted it here)...it just quits.
I am able to see my iBooks library files buried in my HD in the correct location.

The page you linked to refers to Windows malware. It can't affect a Mac, unless it's running Windows.

Dialog box to Select Directories...

I need to develop a Java tool where you have an option for the customer to select a directory in which a group of files wiil be saved. To implement this, when I invoked the JFileChooser.SAVE_DIALOG and set the filter to display only directories, it opens the same Dialog to save FILES ??? (JDK Version : 1.4 OS:MS-Windows 2000). In the Dialog box. there is a Label which says "File Name: "
This is misleading and confusing to the customer, who maybe a novice when it comes to computers. Hence this issue has come up and I need to fix this. I came up with alternate solutions like popping a confirmation box etc.. but the customer doesnt want to see the default dialog box as it is very confusing.
I wish I could show you the snapshot which highlights this problem, to make the problem clear, but that is not possible.
I browsed the net with little help. Please tell me what is the best way to go about this as I have no clue of where to go from here?

.....and by the way, it never should be the question of your code and my code. Its not that I cant write code for it...its just that I dont believe in re-inventing the wheel.
I know that this is a known limitation in Java and someone must have spent a lot of time and energy on this dialog...no use if everyone broke thier heads on the same problem...
...and that is the very idea behind creating such public forums....so that people communicate and share instead of re-inventing the wheel.

Currently while opening the dialog for file selection its showing the desktop directory. But user can select file from any other directory.
My question is how to restrict this dialog box from which user can select only from desktop directory.
PS : Please don't suggest to validate the file after getting the file that its from desktop or not

Using ExcelExport without opening the dialog box to select all the channels in portal by default

Hi,
I need to export all the data in the Data portal to an Excel file without opening the Dialog for channels selection. In the ExcelExport command, it asks for a Config (*.stp) file as one of the parameters. Is there need to create a new stp file for selecting all channels or can the same file (Example_ASC.stp ) be reused ? If so, do I need to change any content in the system stp file ?

Trying to add new swatch library, I get " Cant open, select AI 8 or above or EPS"

I am trying to add the "Roland Color Systems Library.ai" into ID CS6. I added the same file with no problem to AI CS3 but when I try adding it to ID, I get:
"Cannot open file, please select an Adobe Illustrator 8 or above document or EPS file, or an Adobe Indesign Document"
I also tried converting it to an EPS in AI then importing it again into ID but I get the same error, also tried saving into several legacy versions. I see in the swatch library folder in ID, it seems to have a lot of ACB files that are the default swatchbook files. Is there maybe a way to convert this to an ACB file and just drop it into that folder, or any other suggestions?

That sounded like a good idea but Im not finding a way to export swatch books from AI.
Im not sure what you mean about not operating ID that way though. It has the ability to import swatch libraries but its not accepting the file im pointing to

Spreadsheet Add-in connect dialog box do not appear after clean EPM-install

Clean install of EPM with allmost all values default.
version 11.1.2.1 on Win server 2008R2 and office 2010 32bit.
Smartview seems to function properly.
My impression from the documentation is that an installation of spreadsheet add-in does not require any post configuration, but maybe I am misstaken.
So what needs to be done for spreadsheet add-in to show connect dialog box?
Grant some kind of access in shared services?
Change some environment variable?
etc etc.

Seems as if there is something fishy with the Essbase Java API, can this cause trouble for the Add-in?
When using the foundation diagnostic tool I get:

Help! Print Dialog Box Crashes!!!

Please help.
I open System Prefs and click 'Print & Fax'. I click + to add a printer. The dialog box opens for a few seconds and then closes. Just that window. I cannot add a printer at all or even print anything for that matter. I ran Printer Therapy and it finds nothing wrong. Same with TechTool Pro. Nothing seems to be wrong except this. Someone please help. This is a disaster. I even Logged out and tried a different user and it does the same thing!

Because it does the same with another user, this may not help, but it’s worth a try.
Go to the folder:
Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences
(where “yourusername” is the short name of your computer, like storm - the folder looks like a house/home)
Move the file com.apple.systempreferences.plist to the Desktop and restart.
If it doesn’t help, move the .plist file on the Desktop back into the original Preferences folder to replace the newly created one. If it does help, you’ll need to reset all your other System Preferences.

Import window dialog box does not appear

iMovie 11 - trying to import video files from HDD
Within iMovie I am doing the following:
Select File-> Import -> Movies...
... and then nothing happens. No dialog box to select a location. Nothing.

Did you upgrade your machine from an install of Snow Leopard 10.6.8? Try running Disk Utility under the Utilties folder inside your Applications folder. And do Repair Disk Permissions.
And along the same lines of preventive maintenance also try deleting the iMovie preferences file. Go to your Desktop, and go to the Go Menu (while holding down the Option key) > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iMovieApp.plist (move that to the trash). Quit iMovie and open it again. It's possible one of these might get the Import dialog window working again.
Failing that, the other thing to try is create a new user account, and launch iMovie while logged in as that user. See if the import dialog window shows up from that new user account.

Add file to library after hard drive restore

Had to restore an old (January) image backup yesterday. About a month ago the music files were moved to an external drive from the C: drive so they are intact as they were before the restore. iTunes database (itl/xml file) don't include the hundreds of songs that have been added since January. (Yes, you are preaching to the choir.) I realize that I will need to go into preferences - advanced and change the music folder location to the external drive & that ought to see most of the songs. Question is the restored iTunes doesn't know about all the new files and am not sure the best way to add back to iTunes. I think that I want to use the "add file to library" option. If I select this and go to the external drive music folder will it only add files that aren't in the iTunes database already, will I end up with thousands of duplicate entries? How will it handle songs purchased since January? Advice please? Thanks.

I went ahead and and changed the music file location, consolidated the library. That went ok. Tried a test adding an artist's folder from the external drive that I know had a new album in it but just a few other albums. Ended up with duplicate entries for the previously existing albums. Bah! I think I have 3 choices here: 1) add all the new stuff to the itunes library manually (but remember there have been hundreds of changes since January..the music files are > 80 gb total. 2) add to library selecting the main folder (which appears that it will then add thousands of duplicate items to the database list in addition to the hundreds of new items). 3) forget about trying to preserve ratings/playcounts etc and wipe the database and rebuild it from the external drive.
Is there a way to rebuild the database and preserve the existing ratings/playcounts?

Remove Keyword from Filter dialog box help

When I imported my iPhoto library of about 5,000 photos Aperture created two keyword filters (visible when I open the FILTER dialog box and select "All Images" under the main Project Library. It created "iPhoto Edited" and "iPhoto Original" keywords. each of my imported iphoto photos had one of the keywords attached to them. I found originally that filtering through all images took forever - so I removed these two keywords from all of the imported iPhoto files.
Question: how do I remove these two keywords from the FILTER dialog box? Note that these two keywords do not appear in the Keyword HUD at any time.
