Add Holiday Calendar to SharePoint

I'd like to add Holidays to our SharePoint calendar. We are using MOSS 2007 and Outlook 2003. I can't seem to figure out how to import an outlook calender with holidays to SharePoint calendars or how to impost and Excel holiday calendar to SharePoint. I think my best bet is Excel. If you know how to import a holiday calender to SharePoint via Excel, will you provide me step-by-step instructions?

Hi.
Export your calendar from Outlook using these steps:
File -> Import and Export
Select "Export to a file", Next.
Select "Tab separated values (Windows)", Next
Select your Calendar, Next
Select y export file name and folder, Next
Select Finish
Click Ok in the Set Date Range" dialog.
 Import the file into a new list using these steps:
Site actions -> Create
In the "Custom Lists" section, select "Import Spreadsheet"
Enter a name and description for your list
Browse to your exported text file.
Click Import
 Excel will start up with a Import dialog.
In the import dialog, select "Range of cells"
Click in the "Select range" text box.
Select the Subject to End Time columns and drag down to all rows you want to import.
(So it will result in something like MyExportedCalendar!$A$1:$E$46 , I had 45 + header rows)
Click Import.
The data is now imported in to a list.
Select View and -> Create View.
Select "Calendar View"
Enter a name for the View, for example My Calendar View
In the Time Interval section, select Begin -> Start Date and End -> End Date
In the Calendar Columns, select Month View Title -> Subject, Week View Title -> Subject and Day View Title -> Subject
Click Ok.
You now have a Calendar view your imported items.
Hope this helps.

Magnus

  • When building a vacation leave holiday system using SharePoint Foundation 2010 and SharePoint Designer workflows how can I add half day functionality?

    Hi,
    I have built a vacation leave holiday system for SharePoint Foundation 2010 using SharePoint Designer workflows and Javascript. Everything works perfectly but I'm struggling to design a solution for users to specify half day requests that span over dates
    greater than 1 day, i.e. my half day solution works but only when the start and end date are the same. How would I change the user interface to allow users to choose which day they want the half day to be requested when the vacation leave holiday request is
    from, say,  6th - 10th Jan 2014?
    Thanks.

    Hi ,
    I have a test on my machine with a custom approval workflow and it can work normally .Here are the detailed steps :
    1.
    Open the site in SharePoint Designer .Create a workflow to associate with the document library .Set the workflow to start when an item is created and when an item is changed
    .Also allow the workflow to start manually .
    2.
    Choose ‘Collect Data from a user’ .
    3.
    Click on the data and give a name to the Task created .
    4.
    Define the custom form field name as ‘Approve ?’ .Set the information type as Choice .
    5.
    Set the choices as ‘Approve’ and ’Reject’ .Display as Checkboxes .Uncheck the ‘Allow fill-in values’ and ‘Allow blank values’
    .Click finish to save .
    6.
    Click on users and add the users who will approve the documents .
    7.
    Keep the output to variable as collect .
    8.
    Add a new step .Choose ‘If any value equals value ’ .Set the any value ‘Data source’ as  workflow variables and parameters .Set the ‘Field
    from source’ as Variable: collect .
    9.
    Set the value behind ‘equals ’ as ‘Approve’ .
    10.
    Add a new action ‘Update list item ’ .Set the item as current item .Add the field Approval status as Approved .
    11.
    Add an Else-if branch to update the Approval status as Rejected .
    12.
    Publish the workflow and test in your site .

  • How do I add Holidays to my Calendar Server?

    How do I add Holidays to my Calendar Server?
    <p>
    Adding Holidays to your Calendar Server is done via the Netscape
    Calendar Client by going to the Edit|Holidays pull-down menu.
    This option can only be accessed by those users who have been given
    the admin rights to add holidays.
    If you wanted to give "John Smith" admin rights to add holidays on
    a Calendar Server with a node id of 10000, you would do the
    following:
    o Login as 'root' or 'unison' to your Calendar Server.
    o Change directories to /users/unison/bin.
    o Run the command:
    uniadmrights -e "S=Smith/G=Bob" -hday -n 10000
    Now the user John Smith can add/delete/modify holidays on the
    Calendar Server.

    Include birthday in your contacts using the Contacts app.  Then in Calendar go to the list of calendars (touch the red Calendars at the mid bottom of the screen), scroll down until you find the Birthday calendar, and touch it so that it has a tick mark beside it.  Not only will the birthday show up every year, it will even tell you how old they are!

  • How do I add holidays to Calendar?

    My first iPad.  I've Ben able to import calendars, but there are no holidays on the Calendar app.

    Thanks for your reply.
    I did a little deeper dive on the topic and was able to successfully subscribe to a Google calendar of US Holidays by following the procedure below.
    Subscribing to calendars (from the iPad Users Guide available from iBooks)
    You can subscribe to calendars that use the iCalendar (.ics) format. Many calendar-based services support calendar subscriptions, including iCloud, Yahoo!, Google, and the iCal application in OS X.  Subscribed calendars are read-only. You can read events from subscribed calendars on iPad, but you can’t edit them or create new events.
    Subscribe to a calendar:  Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, then tap Add Account. Tap Other, then tap Add Subscribed Calendar.
    You will see a Subscription panel with the word Server and a flashing cursor in the subscription box (ignore the entry myserver.com/cal.ics).
    Copy the link below for the US Holiday Calendar into the subscription box:
    https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/en.usa%23holiday%40group.v.calendar.google. com/public/basic.ics
    Then tap NEXT on the subscription box to verify the calendar was added

  • How do I add holidays to the new calendar in ios7?

    I like the new ios7 but hate the new calendar. I want the holidays to show up and cannot seem to add them. This was easy with the old platform. The new calendar overall is hard to look at and use. Does anyone know how to do this. Or should I just download a better calendar?

    Subscribe to a Calendar.
    Settings -> Mail, Contact, Calendars -> Subscribed Calendars to see what you have.
    Settings -> Mail, Contact, Calendars -> Add Account -> Others -> Add Subscribed Calendar.
    There are several available that are free.
    Or spend less than $5.00 and get a new calendar. I personally think the IOS 7 calendar is really bad. Rather than complain about something that could not be changed, I just got a new calendar App. I also left feedback with Apple at the appropriate location.

    Dear All,
    I need help.
    Public Holiday calendar not to be taken into account for Sick Leave.
    Eg -When I employee applies for sick leave, the public holiday in between the dates shouldnt be considered. How can I configure this requirement.
    Please help.
    Regards,

    For that group, you need 2 counting rules:
    - one for Holiday Class 0 (not a public holiday) and Day Work Schedule Class 0 (not a working day)
    - one for Holiday Class 0 (not a public holiday) and Day Work Schedule Class 1 to 9 (a working day)
    If you want, you can add an other one or two for Holiday Class 1 to 9 (public holiday)

  • Absence Quota Change ( Without Time Evaluation )-Change in Holiday Calendar

    Hi Experts, We have scenario where we need to change the holiday calendar. Add additional holiday. This can be done through SCAL and after that we can generate work schedule through PT01 for the month where the holiday is added. We are not using time evaluation. Our time manangement status is 0 in IT0007. The input I require is how to correct the absence quotas of employees for which they have applied leave for the period where the new given holiday is created. Please advise. Thanks in advance. Regards, IFF

    Hi,
    Standard SAP provides TCode PT_UPD00 for this purpose. It calls program RPTUPD00 which creates a batch input session for revaluating absence and attendance records. You can use this program to resave all the leaves which overlap the given date which is now a public holiday.
    I hope this information is helpful for you and resolves your query.
    Thanks and regards,

  • Unable to add subscription calendars in iCal

    Hello all,
    I have been running into some iCal issues of late. I re-installed the application from Snow Leopard install DVD and after having some issues yesterday, deleted the cache and preference files. My issues were resolved.
    However, I am still unable to add subscription calendars.
    When attempting to add a calendar, I enter the webcal address (confirmed to be correct) and a dialog box appears "downloading". This process is taking longer than in the past. At the end of the process, the subscription calendar does NOT appear in my list of calendars. In other words, it is unsuccessful.
    Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Kieran

    Greetings,
    Try adding a standard subscription like US Holidays, does the same issue occur? :webcal://ical.mac.com/ical/US32Holidays.ics
    1. Remove the contents of the /Macintosh HD/Library/Caches/ directory (drag everything inside to the trash).
    2. Launch iCal and test
    3. If the issue persists follow this article to reset your sync history: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
    4. If the issue persists test in a new user and let us know if that works:http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8235.html
    Cheers.

  • Error while integrating Exchange Calendar with SharePoint Calendar Overlay

    Hello All, I'm trying to integrate Exchange Calendar with SharePoint Calendar using Overlay option. I have added root certificate in my central admin, but it still show an error Could
    not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority.''
    Any idea what i'm missing?
    Thanks.

    Hi Manish,
    As I tested, please perform the steps below and test the issue again:
    1.Log in to Exchange server with admin account.
    2.Run mmc to open Console, click File > Add/Remove Snap-in, locate Certificates to add > Computer account > local computer.
    3.Then you will see Certificates, locate your Exchange certificate and right-click it > All task > Export, leave settings as default and export it to a file.
    4.Then go to SharePoint Central Administration > Security > Manage Trusts > add a new trust relationship with this certificate.
    5.Note If you have multiple web-frontend servers, repeat these steps on each web-frontend server.

  • Color coding of calendar in Sharepoint 2010

    Hi All,
    I have requirement where i need to add new metadata and to use the new metadata column in the calendar for color coding. Please suggest how i can do this?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to color coding of calendar in SharePoint 2010
    To get this done efficiently, SharePoint’s built-in calendar overlays are the way to go.
    You can follow the steps as below:
    Customize category column in the calendar list
    Create views filtered by category column
    Create blank view where the category filters for NULL value
    Add the calendar overlays
    For more information, you can refer to:

    In addition, you can use code to achieve what you want. Please refer to:

  • Colored Calendar in Sharepoint 2013

    Hello,
    I have tried every solution to get my Calendar for SharePoint 2013 to have colors for different event types, but to no avail.  Overlays don't work since the calendars are based off of a list item, not a calendar item. Overlay is just not an option in
    that case.  I am putting my calendar on a page with other APPs, that seemed to have messed up the color options to begin with.  I guess in that case I created a calendar with Overlays, and then inserted that into a page with other items.  When
    I did that the overlay colors disappeared.
    When I tried this one ttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/ca331954-0771-4fc9-9c9e-b7efca6114f8/color-code-calendar-by-category?forum=sharepointdevelopmentprevious
             (I had to remove the first "h" since it wouldn't let me insert a link until my account is verified, and I didn't know how else to not have it automatically create it as a link here).
    I noticed this warning in Dimitri's description ... could this be what is causing my problems?
         "Caution: The jQuery JavaScript library must be available in your environment."
    How do I know if the JQuery JavaScript library is available?
    I'm not sure what to try next.  I don't want to move forward with my program until this gets figured out, since it is so important to the project.
    Thank you, Liz.

    Check if below can help
    http://www.sharepointbreak.com/2012/09/02/creating-a-color-coded-calendar-by-category-using-js-in-sharepoint-2010/
    function ColourCalendar() {
    if(jQuery('a:contains(' + SEPARATOR + ')') != null)
    jQuery('a:contains(' + SEPARATOR + ')').each(function (i) {
    $box = jQuery(this).parents('div[title]');
    var colours = GetColourCodeFromCategory(GetCategory(this.innerHTML));
    var colour = colours[0];
    //colour += "!important";
    var Fontcolour = colours[1];
    this.innerHTML = GetActualText(this.innerHTML);
    jQuery($box).attr("title", GetActualText(jQuery($box).attr("title")));
    $box.css('background-color', colour);
    $box.children().css('color', Fontcolour);
    // I've added this condition since the font color did not catch on to a a:link unless i used !important
    //if (Fontcolour == 'white')
    //$('a:link', $box).css("cssText", "color: white !important;");
    function GetColourCodeFromCategory(category) {
    var colour = null;
    var Fontcolour = null;
    switch (category.trim().toLowerCase()) {
    case 'category1':
    colour = 'green';
    Fontcolour = 'black';
    break;
    case 'category2':
    colour = 'blue';
    Fontcolour = 'white';
    break;
    case 'category3':
    colour = 'yellow';
    Fontcolour = 'black';
    break;
    return [colour, Fontcolour];
    CSS, javascript & calculated columns should do the trick. Read the following posts:

  • US Holiday Calendar not syncing

    Ok, so I use iOS devices and a PC for work. I use iCloud for my calendars, contacts, etc. I use the web portal to view my calendars. I wanted to add US holidays to my calendar for 2015. The built in one in iOS will not sync to iCloud. So I created a new calendar called US Holidays and then I sent the holiday .ics calendar to my email account, when I click on it, it allows me to add all events to my holiday calendar.
    This is where the problem starts. iCloud shows the new Holiday calendar I created, but will not sync all of the events that I add from the .ics. If I go in and manually modify one of the events, it then syncs to iCloud and the web calendar.
    Thoughts? Suggestions?
    BTW, last year when I did this, it worked perfectly and has worked fine for other calendars (sports team schedules, etc.)

    The best way I found to do this is here: http://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-add-us-holidays-to-iphone-calendar/
    Type in the the url from iCal in Mavericks for the Holiday calendar: p19-calendars.icloud.com/holiday/US_en.ics
    It works great.
