Add interactive sound to a question slide

Hello every one
I need to do something really simple
to a multiple choice question
I need to add a recorded voice that will appear just when users click on the icon
many times as the user needs...
then they will be able to anwer the question that I need...
for example in this pictures you can see both choices
I need that when users click on the speaker icon the sound will be played
( maybe using this system I lose the option of shifting answers because the
icons with their respective sound will be located all the time in the same place.
but I will be able to make the interaction sound- question- answer )
or if some of you have a better option please ...
Best Regards
Pedro

Hi Pedro,
If you want to attach sound to a click box, and only to start the sound when the cb is clicked, attach it to the Success caption of the click box.

  • Captivate 8: How to add a button onto a question slide to invoke some java script?

I have some question slides where the user has to guess an item on a picture. Because the picture is very small, I want to add a zoom button which calls a function in my LMS to popup the picture in a bigger window. I could not find a way to add a button where I can call java script, so I tried to solve this by using a smart shape with option "use as button" set and adding the java script action. This works fine for the popup but now the submit button on the slide no longer works. Clicking the submit button just disables the answers and stays on the current slide even if I did not click onto the shape button previously. How can I achieve my goal to display a bigger picture of an image on my slide on the users request?
I also tried the "ImageView" widget, but this is not a practicable solution.
    Thanks,
    Martin

I think I found the solution: In the "Timing" tab for the shape there is an option "Pause After" which was set to 1,5 seconds. I cleared this options and now the submit button is working again.

  • How do I add interactive objects to a quiz slide?

Hello, I'm having a Captivate 5 problem and can't seem to find an answer on the web or in the forums.  I'm creating a quiz in which I'd like to ask multiple choice questions.  For each answer option I'd like the user to be able to click on something - the answer text, an additional image, something - that would open a web page in a separate browser tab or window.  That new window would contain information related to the linked answer option.  This way the users can assess the relevance of each option in relation to the question.
I've tried using the "Advanced Answer Option" option but that only opens a window when the answer is submitted.  Before I sat down to do this I was thinking I'd just add image buttons on the page, but it turns out that I can't add buttons, text inputs and several other options in a quiz slide.
If anyone has any ideas on how to work around this I'd really appreciate hearing them.  Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Hi Steve, thanks so much for the quick reply!
The Button Widget does the job admirably, I can add it in and even make it invisible with the alpha setting so it appears that an image is the actual link.  Totally lets me do what I wished!
    Thanks again!

  • Is it possible to add multiple sound objects to a slide

I am wanting to make slides that contain several "cards". Each card would have a word on it (sight words for elementary students). I'd like to place 2 speech bubble graphics on each card. Students would click one of the bubbles to hear the word read to them (me recording the words). They would click the 2nd bubble if they wanted the word read in the context of a sentence.
Is this possible within Keynote? I know that it's possible within Powerpoint to make any object a sound object--and I believe that I could do more than one on a slide.
However, I've never tried anything like this in Keynote and I'm not sure if it's even possible.
    Any ideas?

Keynote is designed primarily for linear presentations, and really doesn't have any capability to do actions (other than hyperlinks) when an object is clicked. If you wanted each card to play the two recordings in order on each click, then you could do this in Keynote, but if you want the second recording to play only if the students clicks on it, then this isn't really possible in Keynote.

  • Possible to add a hyperlink on a T/F question slide?

    Greetings,
I'm delivering a Captivate 5.0 course in Adobe Connect Pro which is recording completion on the last slide through a True/False question slide (a one-question "Quiz").
However, I want to add a hyperlink to the Correct Caption that appears after the user submits the answer. (I'd also like the Captivate course to close upon clicking the hyperlink, but I'll settle for just the hyperlink actually going somewhere.)
I see that the hotspot, button, & slidelet tools are disabled on this question slide.
I've looked for widgets or some way to run javascript, but I haven't found anything.
What am I missing? How can I add a hyperlink to a question slide?
    Thanks in advance,
    Cheryl

    Hi Cheryl
Normally adding a Hyperlink is simple. You insert a Click Box and link it to the URL. But as you likely have discovered, you cannot insert a Click Box on a Question slide.
So what options do you have?
Well, you could visit Lilybiri's blog and learn how to build your own Question slide using basic tools and Advanced actions in Captivate. At that point the slide is just like any other and you may then insert the Click Box object and link to the URL.
Or you could create a single slide Captivate project that is sized really small and contains nothing but a Click Box that carries out the action of linking to the URL. Then publish that as a SWF. You would then be able to insert the SWF into the Question slide. I'm not sure how well that will actually work in action, but I've done it before without issue. Like anything, your own mileage will probably vary.

  • How to add sound effect to a slide in keynote on IPAD1

How do I add a sound effect to a slide in Keynote on a IPAD1?

    MattiMattMatt wrote:
I'm looking at GB 11 right now, so I don't know if this translate exactly to '09, but I think it's similar if it doesn't:
Looking at the shown Master Track, on the automation menu of options on the track (that lists volume, pitch tempo - whatever you want to send a curve through) there's another choice on the bottom: "add automation." You select this which gives you a dialog box and the option to add an automation curve for any of the Master Effects you've added in that Edit box on the right hand side.
Clicking a parameter in that dialog box will add the category to that menu, and then you can create a curve for it (using a two-dot quick ramp up from 0 to whatever value you want, then a two-dot ramp down at the end) for just the measures you want.
Ive done Add Automation, and Automatic Filter is now available on the "Add Automation". (Although Frequency, Resonance, Mode, Intensity & Speed are down as 5 seperate tick boxes under Automatic Filter and I'd like to just be able to select Automatic filter and not have to change each of these 5 independently and it just work from what I have set it to manually on left hand side).
I've added points/dots to the curve during the section I need it, but this moves the filter up and down over that point AND from the very start of the song to the very end of the song.
Where does the point/dot need to be/set to at the Start of the song upto the point I want the filter to kick?
So there would be NO filter on the track from Bar 1 to end of Bar 9
Then, where does the point need to be/set to at the end of song from the end of the filtered section?
So there would be NO filter on the track from Bar 13 to end of the song?
So just to confirm I want
Bar 1 to end of Bar 9 - NO FILTER
Bar 10 to end of Bar 12 - Filter
Bar 13 to end of song - NO FILTER
Thanking you in advance for a speedy response.

  • Audio on Question Slide

    Hi,
I am building a program where the participant listens to a
conversation and then has to answer questions about what he/she
heard. I would like to add a button to the question slide called
"hear it again" where they would click on it (or rollover) to hear
the audio track again. In a regular slide I would add a Button but
that option is blanked out on the question slide. Anything else
such as a caption, automatically plays the sound track.
Help! Anyone have any ideas about this?
    Thanx in advance!
    Gary

    Hi again
No, you aren't doing anything wrong. That's the way rollover
Images and Captions work. They don't display until your user mouses
over the rollover area. You asked for something that could be
clicked or rolled over to hear the audio track. Since clickable
items are a no no in Question slides, the rollover is your best
    bet.
Note that you don't need any Image or Caption to actually
appear if you don't want that. Just use an image that's a solid
color and set it as transparent. Or, for a caption, set the caption
as transparent with no actual text. The key is assigning the audio
to the Image or Caption itself and not the rollover area.

  • Interactive objects and quiz questions

    Hi everyone,
I know that you can't add interactive objects to quiz questions, so what is the best way to accomplish my need of placing a button that, when clicked, plays a short mp3 audio file to a quiz question?
Alternatively, if I am to replace my Captivate quiz questions with new custom slides, how can I replicate all of the multiple choice, etc question types? Are there widgets for these?
I appreciate the help! I was looking around for reference items speaking to this issue but couldn't find any.

    Hello,
On default question slides like on other slides, you can attach an audio clip to an object (even an object that is invisible to the user like a rectangle without a stroke and an fill with alpha=0%). The clip will play when the rectangle gets visible, but... you cannot put a button on a question slide. The only button that is possible is the static button widget but it has not the possibility to show/hide an object. You can attach the clip to the Success/Failure captions, eventually show/hide the invisible object with events like entering a slide, or Success/Failure actions but those events (appearing of captions, executing actions) cannot be controlled by a button.  If that is what you want, you need custom question slides. You didn't explain really at what moment you want to offer the audio, perhaps you do not need to give total control for playing by a button?
Several blog posts I created talk about creating custom question slides with or without the help of widgets. Here is one link that shows a list of the articles/posts with widgets:
    Widgets and Custom Questions
Not all question types are possible: if you want drag&drop functionalities I recommend the Drag&Drop widgets of InfoSemantics. Have a look here:
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/dragdrop/whichwidget
Another problem is the reporting of custom question slides. I already published two posts about that subject on my blog as well.

  • Question slides distributed throughout CP7 project

I'd like to know if it is possible to have a Captivate 7 project made up of a number of content slides with pre-test question slides being used at various different points of the course?
At the moment when I add more than one pretest question slide they are all grouped together. The list below might help explain what I need to acheive. As always any advice is gratefully received. Thanks.

Where I am using prestest question slides I am doing so simply to make use of the built-in question-types in Captivate, specifically the MCQ, Matching and FIB.
In this example I require feedback to be given after each individual question (incorrect, correct, try again - 2 attempts allowed per question).
The overall concept is to provide 2-3 content screens that teach the information before displaying a question slide to re-enforce what has just been taught. Once the user has tried the question and received basic feedback they continue to the next content slide.
All would be solved if I could place the built-in question slides wherever I want but by the sound of it this isn't possible unfortunately.
Is it possible to customise a survey question slide to displaycustom feedback (correct/incorrect) using advanced actions?

  • Placeholders on questions slides in Master Slide view or/and copying placeholders

    Hi,
I have been building soem changes into our template and I noticed that you cannot add Placeholder objects on the Question slides, but also, when puting placeholders on other master slides, you canot copy and paste them from master slide to master slide...?
Do others find this and is it a bug or by design?
    Cheers
    Rossco

    Hi Rossco
Captivate offers some system variables that you can use. For example, if you click File > Project Info, you get the screen below:
In that case, I typed Goof Ball into the Project Name field.
This means that what I typed into that field is now available to me in that system variable. So if I add a Caption I can insert the variable as shown:
And during playback, I see this:

  • Placeholder for question slide objects

    Hi,
I see that in a project template, you can add a placeholder for a question slide.
What about the objects on a question slide?
    Example:
I use the design template to define the "look-and-feel" of the correct/incorrect messages on the question sldies, also the buttons, question font size etc.
But in the design template, you can't define the position.
Can you do this using placeholders in a project template?
    Thanks,
    Joan

    Hi there
The Question Slide placeholder simply indicates a Question Slide should appear in that spot. If you want to format the placement of objects and whatnot, you *CAN* insert an actual Question Slide in the template and arrange as desired. Then when a project is created that uses the template the question slide will be present with objects arranged as you want.

  • Audio clips on question slides?

I am new to captivate and so far, I love it.  However, I am working on a drill and practice tutorial in Captivate 5 and need to add audio clips to my questions slides.
I have tried adding a roll over text as was suggested in an earlier thread, however, when I play the project, the audio doesn't play.  My audio clips are about 1-3 seconds long and I need them to be repeatable (not just once as the slide opens).
I haven't had any trouble with the audio on the regular slides, just on the question slides.  This is a quiz and I would like to use the random questions feature so it (the quiz) doesn't become predictable. If you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate any help.
    Thanks so much!

Looping the audio on a question slide might not be the best strategy unless you are using this for some gentle background music that you wanted to play while the learner was answering the question.
For instructional voiceover, the rollover caption would be the better choice.  There are two parts to a rollover object.  The rollover area is the hit area that your mouse must roll over.  Audio attached to this part will play once when the slide loads.  So it's a good choice if all you want to do is tell the learner where to find more info. E.g. "Roll your mouse over the Info button if you don't know what to do."
The other part of a rollover object is the caption or image that will appear when the mouse is rolled over the rollover area.  Audio attached to this part will play each and every time the mouse event occurs.  This is the best choice for adding audio if you think the learner may need to hear the instructions more than once but you want to leave them in control of when they hear it.
As soon as they roll the mouse off the rollover area, any audio attached to the caption or image will cease to play.

  • Captive 3 - Pausing on question slide?

    Hi there,
Hopefully you can help. The problem I have now is that I've
got a series of questions, but there appears no way to 'pause' the
slide on a question - meaning that if the user doesn't answer
within a certain time it just flips to the next question! (or all
    the text disappears)
There appears no way that I can add a 'pause' on a question
slide timeline (yet curiously, some of them appear to have exactly
    that!).
Now, I don't want to make each slide 10 minutes long (which
is an inelegant option, I guess) I just want the slide to pause
until the user selects an answer (like a few random ones actually
    appear to do!).
Any suggestions? Why do some wait until the user provides and
answer, yet others just move onto the next slide if the user
doesn't answer within a certain amount of time?
Any help, as always, gratefully received.

    Hello,
When you are looking at the timeline, the bottom layer will
be the slide number. You will see something like "Slide 1 ||
(1.5s)" The || indicates where the slide will pause. You can put
your mouse pointer over it and adjust where and when the slide will
    pause.
With regard to question slides, there should be no need to
modify this. In your case, you may have accidentally set the pause
to occur at 0.1 seconds, and that will result in questions skipping
    through without pausing.
    Good luck
    Doug

  • How can I add sound to a single slide?

I would like to add sound to a single slide so that it plays while the slide is being shown. Is there a way to do that in Lightroom 5?

In Lightroom, you would have to create a slideshow using that one slide. Then you would add the sound to the slideshow.

  • How to add a sound on some slides?

How to add a sound on some slides? Not only one slide and not all the slideshow?
Is it possible? It must be!

Keynote is not Powerpoint and vice versa. The way music is currently handled in Keynote has been explained. If you wish music to play across only a few contiguous slides, you make them a seperate file and hyperlink to them using an object for the hyperlink.
Once built, and properly used, the transition from one set of slides to the next set is smooth and the audience will not know (or care) if there is one, two or fifty hyperlinked files behind the curtain. What they see is the content, the message and the effective use of a visuals to backup your actual live presentation. The files you create are not the presentation, you and all you bring to the audience are the presentation.  You are simply using a tool to assist youself to help your audience better understand your message.
Using Keynote is found by many presenters to be an easier application to use. If you find Powerpoint easier, by all means use it. Your message will be basically the same to your audience, if done properly.
Feedback is a good way to ask for changes but given the rate of change, learning those few simple workarounds and using them effectively will help you use Keynote (or Powerpoint - yes there are limitations there too) to easily put your point across. Your audience will sense your frustrations as a distraction so it is better to accept the few limitations and make your presentation shine in spite of them.
    Good luck.
