Add iPod subtitles to a mp4 video?

I have some mp4 format movies on my PC with *.srt subtitles for them, so i want these videos on my iPod with these subtitles. I know how to merge the subtitles to the video, but I want to know how to add subtitles to a video that can be switched on or off at the time video plays on the iPod. Do any one know how to do it?

It haves the option to add subtitles, but then won't work, this is very common
And the standard edition of mediacoder doesn't create compatible videos with ipod, but mediacoder ipodtouch/iphone edition does it
I read something about subtitles must be converted in "line-21" format, but nobody knows more about it.
other way is to force subtitles into the video(embed them within the encoded video). Anybody knows how to do it?

  • Cannot Add MP4 Video File!!! HELP!!!

I have got the 80GB IPod and have added a few videos, each MP4 files about 164MB in size. However, when i tried to add a MP4 video file that is 216MB it does not upload into my library? It is definately the correct file type and I have about 73GB left in memory so what could the problem be?

    They are not formatted correctly.
Just because a file is mp4 does not guarantee it is
    playable by the iPod.
    Correct file formatting :
Video formats supported: H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps,
    640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Low-Complexity
version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC
audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v,
.mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 768
Kbps, 320 by 240 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Baseline
Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC audio up to 160
Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov
file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by
480 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with
AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in
.m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
PS. Hard drive space is not referred to as memory-it
is storage space. You have 73 GB of storage space
    left, not memory.
It IS formatted correctly, it has all the attributes mentioned in the video file format supported by IPod mentioned above and the file is identical (apart from it is 216MB opposed to 164MB) to the other video files already stored on my IPod.
Thank you for the wise up on the IPod 'lingo'though!
    So any other ideas?

  • Unable to sync my movies in the i tunes 11 library i try to add the mp4 video by using the add to library option but the movie does not sync while the music is syncing fine...

i am unable to sync my movies in the i tunes 11 library i try to add the mp4 video by using the add to library option but the movie does not sync while the music is syncing fine...

I had the same issue. What I did was save the movies on a thrid-party app like Download Manager Lite. Once downloaded, go back to itunes, go to your iDevice, go to apps and transfer the app, then scroll down and click on the app and from there you can send the movies to that app and WILL play. Can only hold up to 8 videos/movies (this is for iPod Touch 3G or better, iPhone 3s or better, iPad requires iOS 4.3 or better)
    YES THIS APP SUPPORTS .mp4
From other ipod (nano, classic): I don't remember.
If your just putting them on iTunes, it should show and play on iTunes no problem.

  • Cannot add ipod-compatible videos

    Hello,
I'm having trouble adding videos to my 30 GB iPod. I've tried adding various videos that I believe to be iPod compatible -- some converted to 320x240 H.264 at 200 kbps/24fps as a .mp4; a few downloaded from sites like Google Video that offer downloads in iPod/PSP format. I always get the error "file.mp4 was not copied to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod."
I'm not sure if this might have caused the problem, but I recently changed the computer I am using with the iPod. I used to use a computer with Windows XP, with which I could add both music and videos perfectly. I am now using a Powerbook with Mac OS X. I restored the iPod on the Mac after my first tries to add video on the Mac failed, but I still get the same error. I can add music just fine.
    Help please?
    Thanks a bunch in advance.
    g4 powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I have the same problem too. I used vixy.net Online FLV Converter : Download online videos direct to PC / iPod / PSP to convert youtube videos into mp4 file and load into my ipod. but it seemed to only play music, cannot watch video at all. please help

  • Can I Transfer a Homemade MP4 Video to the iPod?

How can I transfer a video from a non TV or Movie iTunes source to my iPod Nano 5Gen so I can view it there?
The format for videos the iPod takes is MP4 VGA video H.264 w/AAC 30 fps. I have been able to export videos to MP4 using Quicktime Pro with the criteria below, then transfer them to the DCIM\000APPLE iPod folder and view them so long as I replace videos already in that folder with the exact same name. However, when I add new videos with the same criteria to the DCIM\000APPLE folder, they do not show up in Videos on the iPod.
    Quicktime Pro Export criteria:
    MP4
    Video
    H.264
    256 kbps, Optimized for Download
    640x480VGA
    Preserve aspect, Fit within size
    30 frame rate
    Key frame every 24

As a matter of interest you can load videos of any length up to your iPods hard drive capacity.
I have several 1.5 - 2 hour films which play perfectly.
How long your battery will last if you play them is, of course, a different matter.

  • IPod Nano 3g no longer syncs (some) mp4 videos when they used to sync

iTunes 9.0.3.15 with iPod Nano 3g (1.1.3) on AMD Windows 7 64 bit
Videos which used to play on the iPod, no longer will sync to the ipod. They used to sync when I had Windows XP but after a disk crash and now using Windows 7 64 bit, they dont.
The videos play just fine in itunes, they just refuse to sync.
Some videos that I have do go, but there is no obvious difference between them (file names, formats, etc).
I have reset the ipod to factory.
    item type mp4 video
    Video
    frame 320x176
    data rate 256kbps
    total bitrate 375kbps
    frame rate 23 frames/second
    Audio
    bit rate 118kbs
    channels 2 (stereo)
    audio sample rate 48khz
Any suggestions as to how I can diagnose this, are welcomed.

Ok, I may seem like a noob, cos I am.
But, I did discover the 'create an iPod/iPhone' version' (right click the video file)
It creates a nice small file (about 30% of the original), in a location I cannot control and ends up showing me two identical entries in iTunes that I cannot pick the difference between without doing a 'Get Info' and looking at the filename!
Best of all, this nice small file has NO Video.
I failed to find any settings in which I could nominate the target device, after all, they all have different screen sizes, you would think I could optimise it for my devices screen size.
I even transferred the converted content (after finding it) to a real OS (linux) and mplayer spits about too many audio packets and vlc simply plays sound.
And Apple software is supposed to be user friendly...

  • Mp4 videos in my library wont update to iPod

I have a few mp4 videos which I can watch in the itunes viewer, that when I do the automatic update they wont go to the ipod. Anyone know why?

the weird thing is that many of the other videos do
actually make it to the iPod for instance a couple of
videos ive downloaded and some other mp4's.
Also, make sure that the preferences are indeed set correctly...
Connect the iPod and go to edit-->preferenes. Click the iPod tab. Click the videos tab under that. Make sure automatically update all videos is selected.
Note: Your preferences may look slightly different.
I would, however, check what b posted first!

  • My "Saved-for-iPod" mp4 video stops, while audio continues...

This has recently happened both with saving iMovie HD 6.0.4 projects as mp4s, and for DVD. 1) In iMovie, I imported a .mov I made in iPhoto (slideshow with jpegs & added music). Just that one file. I then saved it for iPod. I played it in iTunes, and the first minute is fine, but then the video "freezes" while the audio continues. Same thing happened when I synched it to my iPod. 2) In iMovie, I imported 5 avi files and added dissolve transitions. Sent to iDVD 6.0.4 and made a DVD. Same thing. The video image freezes at some point, and audio continues. I previously made DVDs successfully, by importing avi files to iMovie HD 6.0.2 & adding transitions. I can't figure out what could be wrong. Any help is appreciated.

I have the iPod Touch 32GB and my video podcasts do the same thing. The video portion just freezes randomly but the audio continues on. This happens with a variety of video podcasts on my Touch. Very annoying and unacceptable for unit in this price range. I would love to see a solution to this problem!

  • How do I take a MP4 video and get it to my iPod?

I have a MPEG4 video and I don't know how to get it onto my fifth generation iPod
    help please?

If you've got the latest (I mean LATEST) version of iTunes, it will require only .m4a files. Click on your .mp4 video file, right click (if your on windows) and click on 'convert selection for iPod'. Takes a while but it works!! Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I cannot copy mp4 video files to my iPod video

I am having a problem with my 6-month old (6 months since I bought it) iPod Video. Before, I was using iTunes 6.0.0.18 (earlier relase of iTunes), which was installed from the CD included in my iPod. I didn't have a problem except that that version of iTunes does not have video conversion functionality to formats that iPod supports (to .m4v format) so I decided to upgrade to the latest version of iTunes (v6.0.5.20) to achieve this. When I upgraded, it created a new problem - for some reason that I don't know, I can no longer drag .mp4 files to my iPod. Everytime I drag a .mp4 video to my iPod, I'm getting an error message - "Some songs in the iTunes music library, including the song "xxxx", were not copied to iPod "xxxx" because they cannot be played on this iPod.". Can you help with that? Thanks

  • How do i get my mp4 videos on my ipod?

I have tried handbrake but the videos once converted look a lot blurry than the original. I have tried Prismz. Itunes does not accept my mp4 videos. I have even tried converting them from quicktime and still no luck. Please help.

You do not.  Instead you convert the videos to a format that can be played on the iPod.

Now You lost me (without using a computer?) - Most probably due to that I've not got an iPod Touch but mine is seven Years old - so it most probably work in a totally different way.

  • How do you add subtitles/text to a video?

How do you add subtitles/text to a video? Is it even possible? I'm working on a video with interviews and I want to write what they are saying underneath.

Take a look at the Ticker Tape title.
Also, you can use any Lower Third title. For subtitles, use the second line of the Title, or set the first line so that the Font size is the same as the second.

    Hello Achates:
I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.
