Add local Web Dynpro Projectts to NWDI/DTR

I have developed projects using NWDS.  We have decided to use NWDI - Scenario 2 - Development Track to have version control and team development.  I have never used NWDI before.
I did not use DC's when developing web dynpro projects.  I just created a new web dypro project from NWDS and deployed ito Dev/Test systems using NWDS.  Is it necessary to have Development Components when using DTR.
If so how do I convert my local project into DC project.  Any Step by Step Documentation on adding existing projects to NWDI is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

  • Migrate Web Dynpro Project to NWDI through DC

    Hi All,
I have a requirement which i need to migrate the local Web Dynpro projects to NWDI to make it in central location.
I have developed the Web Dynpro project which is local to my system (includes model creation - deprecated type).
I need to integrate/migrate these Web Dynpro projects into NWDI.
As i did copy & paste of src folder and did creating new model after deleting the existing model.
After these I am able to build the project however I am getting the below error message while deploying it to Sandbox system.

  • Moving Local Web Dynpro project from Dev to Prod

    Hi,
i have a scenario where there is a small application to be developed. And m the only developer to work on it.
I need to a create local web dynpro project for the same and deploy it to the deveopment server. and test it here. However, the client for whom i am developing this service, is based somewhere else. How do i deploy this local application on his production server?
I dont have JDI architecture here. Can i achieve this without JDI? and How? Which is more feasible -  using JDI or not in my case ?
    Regards,
    Apeksha

    Hi,
Genrally, it is recommended to work with JDI. But, as you said you have only project that needs to be deployed then you can change the server settings in your NWDS and make it point to the production server.
    Windows>Preferences>SAP J2EE Engine--> <details of your remote production server>
NOTE: You should have sdm password to deploy this applicaiton.

  • CRM2007 How to add a Web Dynpro ABAP application to a CRM business role

I am investigating CRM2007 UI framework and I cannot seem to find a way to add a custom made Web Dynpro ABAP Application (created in CRM 4.0) to a business role, or how to add a custom transaction created in classic ABAP (transaction created via se93, progam created via se38). Whatever I do, I only see BSP components. I am using transaction BSP_WD_CMPWB.
Next to this it seems you can add/integrate Visual Composer applications to (there is an entry in spro called "integration of the visual composer in BI"). However, I presume we first have to meet the requirements for the portal integration in SAP CRM 2007 as described in spro. If somebody knows how this works, that would be great!
    kind regards
    Angelique Heutinck

    Hello Angelique,
It should be possible to call web dynpro applications from the L-shape menu of CRM UI (check transaction CRMC_UI_NBLINKS). As for the old GUI transactions, you can embedd them also via transaction launcher using CRMC_UI_NBLINKS (search for "transaction launcher" in this forum, there is plenty of information on it).

  • Exclusive Checkout - Web Dynpro codes from NWDI

    HI, SDN fellows.
I imported the SC Configuration, and created the project of the DC. When I try to open the file, just wanna to view the codes (not plannig to change them). There is a pop up message with check box - "Exclusive Checkout".
What is the meaning of "check" or "uncheck" the "Exclusive Checkout"?
In my case (just wanna to view the codes, not planning to change them), should I "check" or "uncheck" it?
    Thanks,
    Kent

    HI,
when you try to touch any file in DC which belongs to NWDI track, NWDS will ask you to create activity to insure you are not going to make any changes accidently..
when you just want to see the code, and have no intention to touch source, then just dont checkout it.
In your case don't check out anyhting, if pop up comes then just cancel it.
whatever Marlo said about exclusive check out is right.
not only you can exclusively check out your file but a complete DC also. so when you are working on any DC nobody would able to touch it, it becomes read only for every other user except you.

  • Using DTR in Web Dynpro

    Hi All,
I'm interesting in using the DTR component of the JDI (without CBS & CMS) for version management.
    scenario:
A number of developers are working on a WD project (the project is local and not DC).
I want the developers to checkin and checkout like in VSS.
I tried to use VSS: it works fine with "regular" java projects but not so good with WD projects.
    I've setup the DTR server.
in NWDS I went to Web Dynpro prespective -> Navigator view -> context menu [DTR] -> Share Project
I went to the DTR prespective and saw that the project files are marked with a blue house icon (local files).
    A few questions:
    Checkin:
    1) I've read some threads and I'm not sure which WD files I need to check
    2) How do I checkin? I tried to open a new activity then right click it and choose 'Check In' but not all the files were checked in.
    Checkout
    1) How to create a new project in the client from DTR?
    2) how to update a project in the client from DTR?
    Thanks,
    Omri

    Hi Omri,
Step for creating Webdynpro in DTR:
    1. Open Development Configuration Perspective in NWDS. In the “Local DCs” view, right-click on “Local Development” and choose “Import
    Configuration…”
    2. Login remote with your username and password. It will create development infrastructure in Inactive DCs. There you can create the component like webdynpro, Java, J2EE, Enterprise Portal, etc.
    3. Creating Webdynpro in the DTR perspective.
Step 1: Right click on Inactive DCs -> Create new DC.
    1. By default vendor name is SAP. You can change vendor name according to your requirements.
    2. create a new Web Dynpro DC with desired name.
Name should not exceed eight characters (Recommended)
create a new Web Dynpro DC with desired name.
    3. Select the language
    4. Select the domain
    5. Select the component type
Step 2. Now it will ask for create new activity name(give name relevant to project name so that you can identify afterwards easily).
            Develop your components.
    Step 3:
    1. Build and Deploy and test your new DC.If it works fine then in DC perspective..right click on activity name ->checkin activity.
    Mandatory:
In Webdynpro project src folder should be checked in.
Right click on src folder->add subtree ->create activity.

  • Web Dynpro Generated Folders in the DTR perspective

    hi,
In the DTR perpective I can see that the comp folder of my DC has Web Dynpro Generated Folders like genwdp, gen_mci, gen_ddic. Please see the [screenshot|http://learnsaponline.blogspot.com/2011/11/web-dynpro-generated-folders-in-dtr.html]. This is because I had added _comp folder manually to DTR by right clicking on it and selected the Add->Subtree option.
Is it safe to  remove all these folders manually from the DTR. I can do this by going to DTR perspective and right clicking on each of these folders and saying delete.
With these folders in the DTR, the DC created from the DC perspective appears as broken DC in Web Dynpro perspective as all these web dynpro generated files are read-only(may be they were readonly when I had checked in _comp manually)
    Please advise.

  • Query related to Migrating non Dc Web dynpro project to DC.

    Hi All,
I have the requirement to migrate a non DC Web dynpro project to DC.
I have a project which involves few models. The models are nothing but BAPIs released as web services. So, when I am trying to do what i intend to do, I am getting compile time errors and I am not able to deploy.
    WHAT I AM DOING?
I am cerating an empty DC project. I am giving the Name and keeping the domain as basis which comes as the default one.
Later I am moving to the Navigator tab and trying to copy and paste the packages under src and the model folder.
Coming back to the web dynpro tab, i am trying to rebuild the newly created DC project. here i am getting thousands of compile time error.I have even tried changing the domain as enterprise portal while creating the DC project. But the result is same.
Kindly through some lime light on this. Its very urgent and I am still not very clear with componentization in web dynpros.
    Looking forward to you.
    Regards
    DK

    Hi DK,
Follow this procedure to Migrate Local Web Dynpro to DC Component.
    <b>Creating a New Development Component</b>
    1. Create a new Web Dynpro DC Project [Page 5].
You create an empty container for a Web Dynpro DC that does not have
functions. The new DC should include all relevant development objects
    project.
<b>Do not check the newly created DC into the DTR yet.</b>
1.Copying Packages from the Local Project
    2. In the Web Dynpro perspective, switch to the Navigator view.
    3. Select the local Web Dynpro project to be migrated and expand the project
down to the source folder: <My_Local_Project> &#61614;&#61472;src &#61614;&#61472;packages.
    4. Select all packages and choose Copy using the right mouse-click.
<b>Inserting Packages into the New DC Project</b>
    5. Now choose the DC project that was just created and expand the project structure in
the Navigator view, again down to the source folder.
    6. Select the Packages node and choose Paste.
The Add Files to DTR dialog box appears.
    7. Choose OK to confirm your selection.
    8. Assign a DTR activity either by creating a new activity or choosing an existing one.
    Execute Reload
    9. Switch to the Web Dynpro Explorer.
    10. Choose the project node of the DC project and select the Reload function.
    11. In the displayed dialog box, again choose Reload.
Reload now also reloads Web Dynpro metadata into the new project.
    Building the Project
    12. Execute a local rebuild for the entire DC project. Choose the function Rebuild
    project.
    13. If there are no errors in the task view, execute a DC-based build by choosing the
    function Development Component &#61614;&#61472;Build.
This build is identical to the central build tool and is required to take dependencies of
DCs among each other into consideration.
    <b>Result</b>
You have migrated your local Web Dynpro project into a DC project. You can now deploy the
new DC into your local environment and test it before you commence checking the assigned
    activity into the DTR.
After all these steps, when you reload your project, if you happend to see errors in your project. Check few things.
    - All the model classes has been genreated or not.
    - Close the project and open it again, sometimes it works fine.
    - Findout what is the reason for errors, any thing is missing.

  • Security Provider for a web dynpro with tool Visual Administrator

    Hello all,
after deploying successfully my web dynpro on the J2EE 7.0 WAS, I'm trying to set up authentication to it but I cannot find my applicaiton in the list of policy configurations of the Security Provider entry. When I try to add the path to my local web dynpro, the engine doesn't find it.
I have noticed that all other policy configurations reference a servlet_jsp application. Should I transform my web dynpro into a servlet_jsp? How do I do that?
    Thanks for your input,
    Tanguy Mezzano

    Hello Marcel,
in fact, I don't succeed to redeploy with another provider name... I have undeployed my webdynpro with SDM on the Java stack, but from NWDS, when I change the application-j2ee-engine.xml and application.xml files, and that I rebuild the webdynpro, when I run and deploy, it always redeploys under the former provider: local.
When I create the application, I tell to use the existing component, should I select create a new one, but that means that I have to rebuild the whole application.
Will then the webdynpro be in the Security Provider list, so that I can configure it with http header?
    Thx for your help,
    Tanguy

  • About backup web dynpro

    hi, all
how can i backup the web dynpro to local directory?
      Thanks for your help!

    Hi Pei,
Add your web dynpro component to a transport of copies, release it and then copy the two files from the server. Of course, you have to have operating system level access to the server as well as proper authorizations in the WebAS to create a transport of copies and to release it.
    Best regards,
    Thomas
P.S.: You can later on import this transport of copies to any system you like (again, provided that you are assigned with the proper authorizations within the system and at the server).

  • Web Dynpro as Callable object in GP using PDF Forms

    Hi All,
I somehow want to integrate a user filling out a pdf form within a Guided Procedure. So far I have created a local web dynpro DC and I want to make it a Web Dynpro Callable Object (GP Interface). The problem is, I want the user to be able to see the PDF form when filling out the form. For example, if they had a role in the portal where they can invoke the Web Dynpro application with the pdf form, then when they click submit on the pdf they invoke the guided procedure...is this possible? This is so, I can use the web dynpro to do some data validation and call some bapis to get info, then submit this all to the GP. Is this achievable? I know how to do most things, I just want to know things like when is the "execute" and "getDescription" methods called? I want my execute( com.sap.caf.eu.gp.co.api.IGPExecutionContext executionContext ) method to call a bapi also. Is that possible? How do I automate a GP process when I click submit on the pdf form?
    Thanks in advanced
    TM

    Hi,
You can integrate a PDF control in a Web Dynpro view. Refer the following links for that:
<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/dc/f1783fe3263042e10000000a114084/frameset.htm">Example of the Use of an Interactive PDF Form (SAP Library - Web Dynpro for Java)</a>

Also you can create Web Dynpro Java callable object in GP by implementing the IGPWebDynproCO interface. Refer the following links for that:

You can start a GP process using the public API:
<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/43/fcdf77fc6510b3e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm">Starting and Terminating Processes Using the GP API (SAP Library - Creating Composite Applications)</a><a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/5f27e290-0201-0010-ff82-c21557572da1">Creating Interactive Forms in Web Dynpro for Java</a>
Also you can start a GP process using Web Service:
<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/44/44c59fd7c72e84e10000000a155369/frameset.htm">Starting a Process Using Web Services (SAP Library - Creating Composite Applications)</a>

Refering the above links you'll get a fairly good idea how to integrate Adobe forms in WDP and how to start GP process programitically. My suggestion for your requirement would be if always you need to start the process after the user submits the Adobe form, then consider having the Adobe form as the first step for the process. In that case you don't need to start the process programitically. Whenever the user starts filling up the Adobe form the GP process will start. You can refer <a href="/people/dipankar.saha3/blog/2007/03/02/how-to-present-your-gp-processes-to-the-end-user">this blog</a> on how to start a GP process as an iview link in portal.
Otherwise if based on certain conditions you need to start the process then you can either use the Java API or the web service to start the process from Web Dynpro. You should have the Adobe form embedded in Web Dynpro and on submit event you can check the conditions and start the process if required.

  • Assigning a login module to a Web Dynpro application

    Hi everybody,
I would like a Web Dynpro application to use a custom login module for authentication. How can I do this?
What I found is the Security Provider (in the Visual Administrator tool) where I can add a login module to the "form" authentication mechanism for example. But if I do this I think all applications using this mechanism have to use my custom login module, right?
I wonder if I have to add my Web Dynpro application as a component to the Security Provider so that I can assign login modules to it. Am I on the right way? If yes, how can I do this? If I choose "Add" from the "Policy Configurations" tab a popup appears where I can enter the name for a new component. How do I specify my application there?
Thanks in advance for all answers,
    Torben

    Hi,
Web Dynpro applications use the ticket authentication template. U wud need to add your login module to the ticket template's login stack.
Incase you are accessing the Web Dynpro applications thru the EP u wud need to make changes to the authschemes.xml file too.
    regards,
    Vishal
