Add many mt's to the Update Retriever

Hi,
we have to add many MT's in different languages and different windows version to the update retriever.
Is there a nice solution for import them from a txt or xml file? I don't want to add more than 1000 entries by hand.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Hi,
of course, there is a way, how to do it.
Here is a short info on how to add multiple MTM's into TVUR:
- open registry and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Update Retriever\Preferences\UserSettings\General
the key called "Systems" contains all the MTM numbers, that you have entered, or want to be entered i nthe GUI.
You can create in a txt file a list of all the MTM's and languages in following strucutre/example:
1234,Windows XP,EN
5678,Windows Vista,DE
As you see, the first 4 numbers are the MTM number, the other is the OS Version and the 3rd part is the language code.
According the language code, you can see the supported languages in folowing registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Update Retriever\Preferences\UCSettings\General\LanguagesCodes
Let me know if you will have any issue with this, as this is the method, that we have used all the time.
If this helps, please feel free to mark this post as fixed.
Cheers

  • Moving the update retriever to another machine

If I move the update retirever install to another machine (but keep the repository the same server location) - Do I need to move across any files ? are all the settings concerned contained in the repository ?
    Solved!

    Hi joebhoy,
I just did a fresh install of Update Retriever on a T530 and there is an option for Repository path. You'll be able to select the server location and you'll be all set; you shouldn't have to move any files. I hope that helps!

  • L530, E31 drivers missing in Update Retriever

    Hi,
we use the TV update retriever in combination with ThinInstaller so do our driver installations.
Unfortunately two drivers are missing/not listed in the update retriever repository:
For the ThinkPad L530 (2479) the STElectronics TPM Driver (G3Z101WW) isn't listed at all.
For the ThinkStation E31 (2553) the Nuvoton TPM Driver (Q1TPM08US13) isnt' listed for that model.
Can you please add these drivers to the repository?
    thanks & greetings

Sorry for these issues, the updates team is still working on getting all the updates published for the new systems like X230...
Bluetooth should be there starting from today.
I recommend not installing RapidBoot Shield unless you have personally tested it and determined that it makes your image boot faster and doesn't cause side-effects.
Intel USB 3.0 has a wrong dependency on RapidBoot Shield, the team is working on removing the dependency.  If you are using ThinInstaller you may be able to figure out how to remove the dependency from the XML file yourself...

  • Missing WiFi LAN Driver T440p [20AN] Update Retriever / Thininstaller

    Hello,
I notice that when running the Thininstaller against my repository, I am missing the appropriate WiFi driver for my T440p 20AN model.  Downloading the driver from the support page I get grw210ww_64 (or 32 bit) - Intel Wireless LAN 16.8.0.  When I check for newer updates on the Update Retriever I do not find this driver in the list of available online updates nor do I find it in my existing list.
I appreciate the help as this is a very valuable tool.
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi Lenovo
I suspect there might be an error in your metadata for the package 81vu13ww "Hotkey Features Integration"
It is not offered through systemupdate or update retriever.
in the update retriever program folder i have been looking at the file "C:\Programmer\Lenovo\Update Retriever\session\2243-Windows XP-DA-QuestResponse.xml" and when searching this file for "81vu13ww" i find a section like this:

  • M82 - 292-1Q9 - Missing Drivers via Update Retriever / Thininstaller

    Hi,
I have noticed that the driver c2usb08us17.exe (USB 3.0 Drivers) seems to be missing from the list of drivers downloaded by the Update Retriever. Has anyone else come acorss this?

I have just fixed my own issue, so for everyone who comes across this post, i was currently using thininstaller version 1.2.0006, after updating the installer to 1.2.0010 it found all the updates in the repository.
Such a silly thing to miss but was overlooked.
Still confused as to why it picked up that one update in the first place. But issue is now resolved nevertheless.
    Thanks

  • Manual Imports to Update Retriever

We have determined that rolling back from a 10.18 version to a 9.18 version of the Intel HD Graphics driver resolves a flickering monitor issue on X240, T440 and Haswell-based X1 Carbons.
We're setting up a driver repository for our fleet of machines using Update Retriever, but it will only display the latest (10.18) driver version.  I see that there is a manual import process, but I cannot seem to get it to work.  I found another post in the forums from a couple of years ago where someone asked similar question and a Lenovo rep replied pointing them to the driver file, a readme.txt file and an XML file, said to put them in a directory and point the Update Retriever to them and it should import.
The driver I need to import is gid633ww.exe.  Would appreciate it if someone could point me to .exe, .txt and .xml files for this driver -- OR if there is some central repository for ALL Thinkpad drivers for this, that would be even better.
    Thank you!

  • TVSU & Update retrieve & ThinInstaller

    Hello -
I have two models T420(4178) and the X220(4287) and I'm trying to use TVSU and/or Update retriver with ThinInstaller.
With the TVSU the update for ThinkVantage Active Protection System (32 bit) does not show up as a required update.
With Update retriver I can download the update "ThinkVantage Active Protection System (32 bit)" but when I run the Thinistaller agaianter that repository it is not being deteceted as a needed update.
This is on both machines that are Windows 7 32 bit.
I'm under the impression that any updates I download into the Update retriever repository will be available and installed when ThinINstaller runs.
thanks for any help you can provide.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There is a work around that you can use to update Thin Installer so it will properly handle the APS package for T420, X220, etc.  The BIOS updates for these systems have been released to the web and we are working on getting them to show up for TVSU and TVUR.  Hoping that happens next week.
Workaround to update Thin Installer for APS:
    1.   In Update Retriever, either do a "Get new updates" or search your repository for a Critical update titled "System Update Patch [Fix multi must-reboot QFE packages install issue and APS device detection issue] for Windows 7"
    2.  Once this package is downloaded into your repository, go to Windows Explorer and open your repository folder
    3.  Go to the su_multiqfe_aps_w7 folder
    4.  Manually execute  su_multiqfereboot_aps.exe from this folder
    5.  Follow the wizard up to the last panel with the Finish button.
    6.  !!! Uncheck the checkbox and then click Finish.  This will export the package to the
        c:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\SUPATCH_MULTIQFEREBOOT_APS\su_multiqfereboot_aps\ folder.
    7.  In the folder generated by step 6 you will find two .sys files:  tvsuhd64.sys and tvsuhd32.sys.  Replace the older files in the Thin Installer set of files with these newer ones.
Now this set of Thin Installer files can be used to install APS on the new systems.
NOTE: Make sure your Thin Installer command includes the parameter -includerebootpackages 3    The APS package is a type 3 so that needs to be specified or else Thin Installer will skip it.

  • HT4623 I have App Store updates indicated, but the update screen is blank.  How can I retrieve updates?

I have App Store updates indicated, but the update screen is blank.  How can I retrieve updates?

    From Demo:
If you are getting the blank app update screen, many people are having this problem over the last couple of days.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this. It is a workaround only until then.

  • Keynote is an amazing tool for preparing presentations. However, keynote for iOS devices(e.g. iPad) doesnot have the simple way to add audio files in to the files. When we will have the update to add music files right into the keynote slide?

I have been using Keynote for presentation slides to be used in conducting training sessions. Though, Keynote has beautiful interface with elegant transitions to animate, it doesnot provide any way to add audio or music files into the slides in iOS devices alone. I have been waiting for the update to add this very feature, but cannot find it yet. When could we have this upate?

Send Apple feedback and tell them what you want. However, many app versions of programs are skinnied down, and that functionality may not be workable in the App version. Can't know until you suggest it to them however.
Lower right corner of this page, the contact us link, give it a try.
