Add more locations to sync photos from

Hi everyone
I use iTunes on my PC (Win 7 OS) to sync music, files and photos to my iPad.  On my PC I have the default Pictures location for recent photos and use a separate hard drive for older photos - they are all in my library on the PC so I can view them all at once even though they are on different hard drives.
I would love to be able to get all these photos in my Win 7 library synced to my iPad, but it only does the ones in Pictures and ignores the others in my Windows library.  Can I get it to sync the whole library in Windows 7? In iTunes there seems to be no option to have extra locations to sync from - I can change the location from Pictures to somewhere else on my PC but then I lose the photos in Pictures and I want them all to sync!
Can anyone help please?
Many thanks.

iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes
Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

When you launch iPhoto with the option key depressed you'll get this window:
All libraries on your hard drive (and on external drives) will be listed and the currently used library will be listed as (default).

  • Can no longer sync Photos from Airport Disk

I can no longer sync photos from my Airport Disk to my tv.
This used to work fine- When I first got the tv I checked the "sync photos from" option in the photos tab in iTunes, navigated to my network drive/ pictures folder and hit sync. The photos slowly copied over.
Just this week however, I went to add some new pictures and iTunes/ tv no longer sync. The status bar just spins saying "Syncing"...I have left it overnight with no change.
I have recently updated to the latest version of iTunes and Airport Extreme firmware, but that is about it in terms of changes/updates. Anyone have any ideas?
    - Firewall is off
    - Permissions seem ok on the Airpot Disk. Everything is read/write
    - I have rebooted/ reset/ re-synced everything. It just hangs on Photos. Music etc go over fine.
    Specs:
    iMac G5 PowerPC
Airport Extreme N base station with OWC USB drive attached as airDisk
tv 1.0 40 gig - using ethernet connection to router
    iTunes 7.4.2
I am really stumped! I think that the airport disk permissions or mount are still suspect but dont know what else to check.
Does iTunes spit out a log or write to the console? Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    AC

I think I have figured it out, and photos are syncing now.
Here is what I believe happened: There is an iTunes generated folder called "iPod Photo Cache" in my "Pictures" folder on my Airpot Disk. This folder gets generated by iTunes whenever you designate a location for syncing. The "iPod Photo Cache" folder contains a file called "Photo Database".
It looks like the "Photo Database" had been corrupted. Deleting this file, or alternatively, moving my pictures to a new folder and letting iTunes regenerate the Photo Database fixed the problem.

  • Issue Syncing photos from PC to Ipad 2

I am trying to sync photos from my PC to my Ipad2.  All my albums that were already on have disappeared somehow.  Now when I try to replace them two issues are happening:
A message pops up that says "poer 3b" was not copied...
It syncs an album but seems to be limiting me to 4 albums.  When I try to add any it delets one that is there.
    Help!

How are you trying to sync them ? If you are trying to do them one or two at a time then you need to select and sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go, as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - not including them in a subsequent sync is how you remove them from the iPad (synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad).
If you are getting an error message when trying to sync them (e.g. file could not be copied, file not found) then try deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-try the photo sync and see if they then copy over - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314

  • Sync photos from two libraries

How can I sync photos from two libraries? after syncing one of them I close that library and open the other and choose to select certain albums and the warning pops up that if I sync the current selection all others will be replaced with the current library. So it appears that you can't add to the ATV hard drive additional photos from the second library without losing the content you already have from the first one.Is streaming the answer, and if so how do you do that?

You can't sync more then 1 library with the apple tv. Your only option would be to sync with one and stream with the other. Just make sure on the second library that you set it to share and then go to computers on the apple tv and select the shared library. ATV will give you a code that you will set on the second library when you have itunes open. Put in the code and you will be able to stream

  • HELP, how to add more folders in my photos

how do I add more folders in my photos? because I only have two. one is the camera roll and the other is the one that came from the computer. I want to add more folder but I can't find that feature in the itunes when I connect my iphone. Pls help

I believe you simply create a new folder inside the folder that you have set for iTunes to sync from. I haven't synced from my PC since last summer so I could be wrong.

  • HT4236 Is there a way to sync photos from my computer onto my Ipod touch 'Camera Roll' album?

Everytime I sync photos from my computer onto my ipod they go into two different folders, and not the camera roll. I really want to have them in the camera roll and was wondering if there was a way to do so,
    Thanks.
    Georgia.

There is, but I would avoid that method if I were you.
The Camera Roll (on an iPod Touch) is where photos taken on the iPod, screenshots taken on the iPod and also saved images are located.
Although other people may alternative suggestions, I regard the Camera Roll a temporary loctation, until the next Sync with iTunes. At that time, it is wise to move the pictures from the Camera Roll and put them somewhere on your computer. This means that when (rather than if) the iPod requires a Restore, you don't lose your pictures, since a Restore will remove all content from the iPod, and only put back onto the iPod what is on the computer.
For safety, I copy the Camera Roll pictures, into a folder which will then put them back onto the iPod in the Photo Library, and only once sucessfully copied, do I then delete them from my iPod' Camera Roll.
As for the two different folders...
    You can only choose one folder on your computer to Sync with your iPod, named for instance, "Piccys" and in there are (for example) general photos. However, also in that folder, you can have sub-folders, named for instance "Family" which have only photos of the family. Once the folder "Piccys" is Synced with your iPod, when you look in the Photos App on the iPod, you will see a list of sections;
    Photo Library
    Family
The "Photo Library section" will have all the photos, both from the "Piccys folder" and the "Family folder" listed as one list. However, if you look in the "Family section", you will see only the photos in the "Family folder".
So in your situation, I suggest that you create a sub-folder in your chosen "Sync folder" and place all the Camera roll pictures in that. What you certainly should not be doing is leaving photos in the Camera Roll or trying to put other pictures into the Camera Roll. That will be a recipe for disaster.
By the way, in my experience, the more pictures in the Camera roll, the slower a Sync becomes.

  • When i try to sync photos from iPhoto to my iPad using iTunes,  the "Selected Folders" option is greyed out with only the "All Folders" option available, how do i change this?

When i try to sync photos from iPhoto to my iPad using iTunes,  the "Selected Folders" option is greyed out with only the "All Folders" option available, how do i change this?

I add the keyword 'sync' to any photos I want added to the iPhone/iPad.
Then, during the regular process of syncing the iPhone/iPad with my computer (mac), the photos with that keyword would be copied onto the iPhone, iPad.
I've been doing it this way ever since I was shown how to; ie after I got my iPhone 2 years ago. And every time the process worked - until the last few weeks. Suddenly it doesn't do it any more.
I believe I have upgraded software (either iTunes or iPhoto or both) during this period. I try to keep my software updated but have noticed previously that the new version often is disappointing.
I've not tended to use Smart albums much.

  • ITunes not syncing photos from iPhoto

"Unkown error" messages are becoming usual for iPod users that we are ignoring them because our iPods are syncing fine anyway. Except for error message -208, the new kid on the block! This error message only pops when trying to sync photos from iPhoto (6.0.5 the latest! Syncing photos from any other folder or not syncing photos at all, does not cause any problem. The syncing never has given me this problem (and I have been syncing iPods with pics for a long time!)
How does Apple answer to this problem? Don't blame the iTunes software, because this is definitively a joint problem you guys have with your software not talking to one another.
I have rebuilt everything that can be rebuilt in iPhoto (thumbnails, library), I have downloaded and installed all the latest updates. Reset and restored the iPod... done! Reinstall iTunes, check!
I have posted messages at the iTunes/iPod forum and... no response! Hope the Apple staff is more friendly here... or at least one of the seasoned users...

You may have figured it out by now. None of the resetting of the iPod or the rebuilding of the iPhoto library (command+option) or permission rebuilding works to solve a -208 error when the error refers to an iPhoto library sync with iTunes. Supposedly, this error occurs with corrupt AIFF files as well. This error will occur on different iPods which try to sync to the same iPhoto library. The iPhoto library is definitely corrupted. Mine was due to a sudden power loss.
NOTE: I do not "Copy files to iPhoto Library folder when adding to library" under Advanced iPhoto preferences, so that my photos don't have a chance of getting messed up (like error -208s). If you do, the steps below may be different for you. Always a good idea to back up your photos.
Here is how I fixed it. All the steps may not be necessary. Go to /pictures directory under your user (or wherever your iPhoto library is located), and rename the "iPhoto Library" or whatever you called it to something else, like "iPhoto Library 2". Open iPhoto, and it can't find the library, and asks if you want to find it or create a new one. Tell it to create a new one, and put at least a picture in the library. Sync with iPod, which should work without error and put the picture on your iPod. Close iTunes. Close iPhoto. Now, to save all your pictures (thumbnails) already in the iPhoto library, copy everything BUT "iPod Photo Cache" folder, which seems to be the culprit, from the "iPhoto Library 2" folder into the "iPhoto Library" folder. Open iPhoto, and all your pictures should now be in the library. Open iTunes and sync iPod, and all your pictures should sync out without error.

  • Problems syncing photos from iphoto to ipod via itunes

I have been having some difficulty getting my itunes to sync iphoto contents to my ipod. This worked fine for ages, but has just stopped working. I can sync photos from a standalone folder. Following a discussion on the ipod forum (for full details see: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1872524&start=0&tstart=0 ) we have established it is something in the iphoto library that is causing the problem. A new library works fine, but switch back and itunes does not recognise it. I am hoping that someone here can help me identify what could be causing the problem.
    Any thoughts welcome.
    Duff
ps I have also posted this in the iphoto forum, see here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1876616

Resetting your iPod puts the iPod's software in factor default. It doesn't erase anything. Restoring the iPod erases your iPod's content and puts a fresh copy of the OS on it. Restoring is a more extreme way to solve a problem. Use restore if a reset doesn't work. If a restore doesn't work, then its not likely that a reset would help. Sorry for the late reply, I was busy with classes. Cheers mate.

  • Where is the photos button in the new version of iTunes?  Need to sync photos from teh computer but photos buton doesn't exit or is hidden.

Where is the photo button in the new version of iTunes?  I need to sync photos from the computer?

On iTunes 11 you can re-enable the sidebar via View > Show Sidebar. To sync photos, connect and select your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes (if you've enabled the sidebar), and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
If you haven't enabled the sidebar, then from you library click 'iPad' at the top right of the screen and you should get a series of buttons along the top of the screen, including one for Photos

  • Syncing photos from iPad to macbook and vice versa

I recently synced my ipad with my new macbook air. I successfuly imported all my photos from my iPad to iPhoto on my laptop.  However, now everytime I connect my ipad and laptop iPhoto opens and asks me to import all the photos all over again, despite the fact that they are still all there.
I haven't synced my photos with another computer before. I want to be able to add a photo onto my ipad and have it on my laptop and vice versa.
This doesn't have to be done wirelessly, I am happy to only have it happen when I plug them togerther, but I want the same photos on both my laptop and iPad.
I havent really messed around with anything as I am afraid of wiping my photos. I understand that I may have to do this via a third party or something, any help would be great.
    Thanks.

Connect the iPad to your Mac then launch iTunes.
Select the iPad under Devices then select Photos from the menu.
    Deselect:   Sync Photos from
You probably have iPhoto selected from the pop up menu.
Deselecting Sync Photos from should prevent the prompt to sync every time you connect the iPad.

  • Syncing photos from iPhone

In ITunes it gives you the opportunity to sync photos from computer to iPhone
Why not the other way round iPhone to computer?

Windows handles the iPhone as a normal camera device. You should use the Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard to copy the pictures from your iPhone camera roll to your local harddrive.
Correct. Just to give a bit more details. On the iPhone, photos you took with the phone and in the "Camera Roll" are like photos on any digital camera, they have to be taken off by YOU not with a sync. (see previous post as to how). Once off, then you can save there onto your computer where ever you want. If you want them to sync to your phone you save them in the folder you are syncing with the phone (all the other libraries on your phone that show up other than the Camera Roll).

It is saying that, any existing photo's libraries (from other computer's or user's) that are on the iPad will be replaced.
If I sync my photos from Iphoto to my ipad am I going to erase something on my Imac?
No, the iPhoto Library on your iMac will not be erased.
Adding that, you should also be able to prevent the loss of any existing photos on the iPad, by first Importing them into iPhoto.

  • Syncing photos from 2 computers

From a 24" iMac i have synced photos in a folder to ATV. Now i would like to sync photos from Aperture to ATV from a second computer, a MacBook Pro. However, i cannot even find how to sync any photos from the second computer. Both OSX and iTunes are the latest versions. All help is much appreciated.

      Mac OS X (10.4.9)
      Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi,
you can only sync content from one computer, and sream from five - but as you cannot stream photos to an ATV I am afraid you cannot sync the photos from your second computer - see Apple's article on sync v streaming - bottom of the page -
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305098
You could always add the photos to your synced computer instead.
