Add more PSD Files to layers

How can i go from having one PSD file open in layers to having two or more, if use the bridge and open two or more then although they are in the layers bar i can still not do as much as if i have one open.

Here are some helpful videos on how to open multiple images in a single document:

I hope this helps. Please post back with any further questions.

  • Photoshop CS3 shuts down after opening a PSD file with layers

Hello, I have met a problem with Photoshop CS3 (Windows XP SP2, no network printer) - after opening a PSD file with layers (saved with CS2) Photoshop shuts down. No error message.
Can some of you help me? (The only software that I have installed after Creative Suite CS3 is Corel X4. I have installed no upgrades of CS3.)

    You should!
Even if it doesn't help here you should.

  • How can I open a psd file with layers in touch?

I want to edit a psd file with layers in photoshop touch. Is this possible?

No. (Kind of, sort of.) You can export PS Touch projects for import into desktop Photoshop and have the layers intact for further editing but you cannot do the reverse; any imported PSD will be automatically flattened. (I'm guessing this was done to prevent crashing. PS Touch supports 12 layers max vs. the potential thousands available in desktop Photoshop.)

  • Whenever I load a .PSD file my layers blend.

    Hi Guys,
I got this problem with a banner for my client.
He designed a banner for an upcomming event wich has 8 slides. He asked me to animate it in flash, sound easy... Right?
But I encounterd a problem. When I load the .PSD file (File -> Open -> All Files (*.*) -> banner.psd) at the first sight everything seems allright.
But when I start hiding and showing the layers things get messed up.
The top layer takes over parts of the layer underneath it.
    Look, this is layer 7.
    http://f.cl.ly/items/1N2q1W0c1T0n2t2q1L34/Image%202012-04-09%20at%209.51.40%20PM.png
And the next slide (layer 8) looks just fine.

But whenever I hide layer 7 you see the problem... A part of layer 7 is now in layer 8. And this happend to many other layers also.
(Note, the red part is just my background, layer 8 should have a full red background.)

    Anyone could help me please?
I tryd to formulate my problem as good as I could.

  • How to add more PDF file in to a designed form

    Hi,
I have already designed a form and now want to add 2 more pdf file in to the form, how can I do that.
    Rgds
    Anver

LiveCycle Designer and forms created using LiveCycle Designer can not do this. Just as PDF's created outside of LiveCycle Designer can not import forms created by LiveCycle Designer, but one can import the underlying PDF page without the form fields. The reason for this is that LiveCycle Designer creates an XML form with a minimal PDF page. The inclusion of the XML form data is enough to make the document not compliant to the PDF format. It should be noted that only versions of Acrobat 5.1 or above can process LiveCycle Designer forms, as these versions have had additional code added to the application to process the XML information.

  • How to export a PSD file with layers to Fireworks PNG file.

    Hi
I've been asked by someone I'm working for to supply the work I've done as a PNG file that can be edited. I was told that a layered PSD file can be converted to a layered fireworks PNG file. I've tried all sorts of things but either ended up with a flattened image or each layer as a seperate file. I've searched all over for answers but nothing as yet!
    thanks

Yes, individual PNG-24 files from Photoshop is what you want. In Photoshop, File>Scripts>Export Layers to Files; browse to save location; choose PNG-24 as the file type; check transparency. Prior to this, if you have floating imagery in any layers in the Photoshop file, you will want to place 1-pixel dots in 2 opposing image corners on those layers, so the all layer sizes will be exported at the same size, for layer-registration when composed in Fireworks. Then delete those dots in the exported PNG files and resave.
Then you will need to compose the layers in Fireworks. Once you get your individual layers in PNG format, you might want to pose this question in the Fireworks forum.

  • Can't open PSD file to layers in Illustrator CS6 for editing?

I need to edit a Photoshop PSD file that has layers.
I believe vector lines can be edited in Photoshop but I only have PS Elements and can only edit the text.
I do have Illustrator CS6 but when I open the PSD file it will not open to separate layers, even if I choose this in the open options.
    Maybe Illustrator cannot do this?
    Can anyone advise please?
    Thank you,
    Mike.

Although I can export as PSD from Illustrator - will PS read the layered files though?
If you set up the file accordingly: yes.
You have to take special care of some stuff. Search for it on this forum or the manual. It has been discussed here.

    What about EPS?
Forget about EPS. And especially in this context.

Yes, but only clipping masks. And only simple paths.

  • How to export "gif" animation frames as individual .psd files with layers intact?

Hi, after creating an extended 25 frame animation (as if building a .gif) I would like to export each frame to individual .psd files with all the layers showing in each respective frame intact as separate editable layers (rather than each frame as a flattened one layer image/psd)...how can this be done? thanks

maybe it would be easiest if there were just a script which would delete all the layers not visible in a frame but leave the visible layers unflattened, then the file could be saved with a new_name_001 etc., then the deletions could be undone manually via option+command z, the animation advanced by a frame...repeat
is there a script which deletes all but the visible layers in a frame -- but leaves those which are visible unflattened/editable?
    thanks

  • Importing PSD files with layers.

Sometimes when I import Photoshop files that have layers,
I can double-click them, and they open as multi-layer sequences where I can control the opacity and blend modes of the layers. Sweet.
But then sometimes they don't, so I have to go back to PS and render .png's of the layers that I want.
So I ask: What am I doing wrong when it doesn't work as expected?
    FCP 6.0.6
    Best regards;
    E.

PSDs from Windows machines will not open up as layers inside FCP. This has been an issue since the first days of CS.
Open those PSDs in Photoshop on a Mac, and then resave as PSD. They will then open up fine in FCP.

  • How to reverse a PSD file that's combined layers into one layer...

    Hi,
I'm not quite sure what happened but I had a PSD file I was working on with multiple layers and then I saved a PDF of the file and I think I may of accidentally switched up the files somehow because now my PSD file's layers are all combined into one background layer. How do I undo this (somehow release all of the layers again into the file)? I need to send the PSD file with all of it's layers available for editing and I have no idea how to fix this.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
    ashmic19

Unless you have a backup copy of the layered PSD, you can't. Once flattened and saved, you can never reconstruct the flattened layers, they are gone. Sorry...best is to save multiple copies so if this happens in the future you won't suffer this again.

  • Splitting high resolution in tiles, and saving them out as new cropped and layered psd file.

Hey there, my first post here.
I currently working with designing photos/images ceramic tiles.
My goal is to minimize the time it takes to split an image in equal tiles, and then having all layers put in a new layered psd-file and layers named after raws and columns.
Let say I have a bathroom wall 160X100 centimeters.
That would be 8x5 tiles, tiles are 20x20 cm I this case, 40 tiles.
Doing this manually when the work load increases would be impossible to manage.
Tried using slices, but there's gotta be a bug in relationship between pixels and millimeters/centimeters.
I divided the whole image in equally big slices 5 raws, 8 columns.
No matter what the pixels say, when the image is 1600x1000 mm, one would think the result would be 8 tiles X 5 tiles that are 200x200mm each!
But it turns out it differs 2 - 3 millimeters.
Would be glad if there was a different approach to this, either by a neat script or a plug in or something.
Images slicing in photoshop is only able to save out to web formats what I know of. I need it to be high resolution images 300dpi.
Hope th get some feedback and ideas on this.
    Thanks in advance

  • Changes made in LR 1.3 to psd files are not reflected in ACR 4.3, Bridge 2.1.1.9, or Photoshop CS3

I have repeatedly imported several psd images into LR 1.3, made changes in the develop mode, and saved metadata to file manually in addition to having the auto write metadata option on in LR and ACR. Any changes I have made in LR are not reflecting in Bridge previews or in ACR or Photoshop. I don't believe I should have to utilize the write to xmp options (even though I have been) since the files in question are psd and the metadata gets written directly into the file. If I delete the photo from LR, and even delete the LR catalog (new user trying to make it work with 1 photo at least before importing all images) and re-import the psd to LR it appears with the changes and can backlog in the history panel to it's original state upon import into LR. I would have to be in LR though to know that anything was altered as the other Adobe programs will not display the changes.
If anyone has any help - I would greatly appreciate it!
    Thanks,
    Ann

    LR 1.3
    Bridge 2.1.1.9
    PS CS3 (updated last week)

I don't think the problem lies in the name. LR is after all meant to function as a data base of images and be a companion program to PS - with PS doing the heavy editing lifting. I do understand that PS is a pixel editing file and LR is not. I like the idea of the non-destructive editing that LR has to offer and for a lot of image "developing" I prefer LR's interface to ACR.
In my humble opinion, I just think that the Photoshop family of products should all be able to read the same metadata. If I am starting in LR with a psd file (with layers) and I continue to process the image further in LR and save the metadata - therefore saving the changes - I want to be able to open that same file (not another copy) in ACR, PS, or Bridge and have those changes reflected. The only way to do that currently is to export the file and when you do that you lose the PS layers and the LR history panel or another way around it is you can have edit copies of the same file. If at a later date you wanted to go back and change something, you can't just pull out a layer in PS or undo a history state in LR and with the multiple copies of essentially the same image you end us with any editing history scattered amongst multiple files. I already keep 2-4 (original, psd, jpeg print, jpeg web) files for one image which I think is more than adequate. Which is why I find the current set up so frustrating. For now I have just settled for exporting jpegs so I can see the changes.

  • How do I transfer a .psd file to illustrator that can then be placed in Muse as a .svg with transparent background?

I just wrote all this up in another thread.  I did not realize at the time that the last post was in 2014, so I'm giving it a go here.
I am currently trying to create an .svg using Photoshop .psd file (with layers in tact).  I'm new to these products so it may be obvious to others that the above intention was to eventually place the .svg in some sort of website creation software such as Muse.  Which is precisely what I am attempting. However, I am getting a white background once I place or copy and paste into Muse.  My starting .psd has a transparent background without any hidden layers causing this problem.  To test this I placed the .psd file into Muse and it still has a transparent background.  However when opening or placing this file into illustrator, it picks up a white background. If I do exactly as described above, I still get the same result.  So far I have tried:
    1) Simple copy and paste from Photoshop .svg to illustrator to Muse.  Result - white background.
    2) Placing the .psd in illustrator, then placing the .svg file in muse.  Result - white background.
    4) I have also tried the every combination of 1 and 2. - Result - white background.
    3) I have now created a path in Photoshop from the text layer to yet again attempt the above methods.  Result - white background.
I'm including an image of the object I am trying to place with transparent background, but I have both a flattened rasterized version, a version complete with layers and a third (.svg) with the corresponding objects.  I am completely new to Illustrator as of today so any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
Link to .psd file "Welcome text"

I was having some difficulties getting the correct dimensions of one of my objects, I eventually solved this problem without using svg.  It was pretty simple when I stopped trying to over complicate things.  I just linked the object to a near by object in photoshop, merged and placed it all as one.  It looks great now.  Thanks for your reply.  You are correct, SVG was not the answer.

  • Error when importing psd files into Premiere Pro

I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and Photoshop CS4.  Whenever I attempt to import a psd file I get this error message:  "File format not supported".  I have tested it with different file sizes and properties.  My files are RGB and 8 bits/channel.  Is there any way to resolve this problem?  I am also using Adobe After Effects and importing psd files works great with it.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.
The RGB and 8-bit take care of two possible causes, so thanks for getting those out of the way early on.
Does the PSD file contain Layers? Are any of them mostly Transparent, with just a few pixels, such as a small logo? Those have created issues.
What is the exact version of CS4, that you are running? Seems that there WAS an issue with PSD's in an earlier version, and that a later update fixed that.
There is another element with PSD's, that has caused issues, but my feeble mind is suddenly blank on what that was about. Seems that Colin Brougham commented on it not that long ago. I'll see if I can drege up one of those threads, but you might aslo want to do a Search on "PrPro" and "PSD," though the forum Search might still be broken. Maybe Google, and also look for replies from Colin. I'll do the same too. IIRC, one had to Open the offending PSD in PS, and just do a Save_As with a short file name, and a short Path (not buried deeply inside a sub-folder structure), and all was good, but do not recall any other details at the moment. I would also eliminate any spaces in the new file name, just to eliminate any issue there - use the _ like in the old DOS days, though do not think that one had to adhere to the old 8.3 structure.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • PSD files and Flash

Need Help.  I'm new at this.  Bought a flash template website.  I have made text changes in the psd files that came with it. How do I link them back to Flash??  Plus, I need to add a psd file of a logo also.  Many thanks, I am trying to learn this.

Thanks for getting back in touch with me.
The flash website folder has 4 folders inside it. "flash", "fonts",
"html" and "psd".  The psd folder contained the text on the buttons and
a few other images, that had to be changed.  I made the changes in
Photoshop and exported them back to the folder.  When I click on the
psd file in the folder it has the correct changes.  But I can't get it
into to flash file to review it.
Like I said, I literally got Flash today and am stumbling terribly.
