Add music to a presentation!

Hello Everyone,
I'm running Panther on a iMac G3 333 and AW 6.2.9 and would like to add music to a presentation that I created. I am able to insert the music file into the master file just fine, but the music only plays until it moves to the next slide and then it stops. The presentation is 12 slides long and I have it set to play the slide show continuously. Anyone out there know how to do this?
Thanks
Mic

Hi Mic,
The presentation module was the last one added to AppleWorks, and was part of the hurried release of AW 6 to have it ready when OS X was released. It wasn't particularly well thought out.
Sound files in presentations are attached to specific slides, not to the presentation as a whole. The only way I can think of to have music that will play throughout the presentation AND have that music included in the presentation file is to split the music file into a number of segments, one for each slide, then set the controls to advance to the next slide only when the sound had finished playing. I've not tried this, but I suspect the audio would NOT be seamless, to say the least, and the effect would probably be more disruptive to attention than no music at all.
Another way to go about it would be to separate the music file completely from the presentation file. Run the presentation silently, and run the music simultaneously from an mp3 file using QuickTime. The difficulty I see here is maintaining synchronization between the music and the presentation. The two loops—music and presentation—are unlikely to repeat at exactly the same rate, so one will consistently fall behind the other, even if neither runs into any delays.
Regards,
Barry

What restrictions may apply to music previously downloaded that I'd like to add to a business presentation? Can I use my personal music in my library for background music at work for Slide presentations?

Are there copyright restrictions, however, when you add to a presention, or video? Or because it's part of your own library, are you within the essense of the law to use in something at your job or school?
If it is music you acquired from the iTunes Store, it is limited to personal, non-commercial use.  I doubt anybody will arrest you if you make a slideshow for a birthday party, but using it on the job could be over the line.
As for school, if you are in the USA, there are different rules due to the TEACH Act (Technology, Education and Copyright Harmonization Act), which your school administration can help with.

  • Help Iphone 5 trying to add music from itunes version 10

I just got an iphone 5 and I want to add music from my itunes, which is version 10. when i tried to add music it said that the iphone 5 requires the itunes version 11.1 or later. so, i tried to download the latest itunes and it said that: "This update requires OS X version 10.6.8 or later." My computer is mac version 10.5.8. Somebody please help..

Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then  "About This Mac".  Write down what it says about "version"and report that here.  Now continue to "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).
If you have a PPC Mac you cannot sync your idevice without a newer computer.  See the end of this post for options.
If it says you have an Intel Mac you can upgrade to Snow Leopard, but check system requirements first:
    Snow Leopard 10.6 Technical Requirements - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
You can buy Snow Leopard at:
Snow Leopard disc source - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After installing run the updater to 10.6.8, then upgrade iTunes.

Options if you cannot upgrade:  iTunes Store purchases can already be downloaded directly. Use iTunes Match to put non-Store music in iCloud, then download to your device from there.  Backup your device directly to  iCloud over a wireless connection.  Photos can be downloaded from the Camera Roll using iPhoto or Image Capture.

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

It wants to erase your iPhone because you are not syncing it to the same library.
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
iCloud only stores a copy of your non-iTunes purchases if you subscribe to Match. It still isn't the best way to get your music to a new computer.  That's
(if you use iTunes' default preferences settings):  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.

    Intuitive interface.

My post on facebook this morning.
If you have an iPhone or iPad do not update to ISO 7 unless you want an operating system that looks like windows 8. The graphics looks like it was designed by a artistically challenged mongoose and the operating system is not intuitive something apple users expect. Overly complicated ugly and generally change for the sake of apples paranoia since the death of Steve Jobs.

You need to update iTunes to 11.1 on your PC

  • HT1495 Can I add music from one iPod to another without losing music on the first ipod

Looking for a way to add music from one iPod to another iPod without losing music on the first iPod ... Please help

iPods are not backups or data transfer tools.
Move the music from the computer where it exists to the computer where you want it.
Then sync the music to the iPod.

  • Can't add music to ipod touch even though computer and itunes recognize it

I have an ipod touch 4th generation that has suddenly stopped allowing me to add any music to it. It worked absolutely great with no problems for about a year  and suddenly when I load it up on itunes I can't add any music to it at all. if I try and drag any music from my computer on to it, I get this no icon as you can see
Same if I try and add music from my itunes library.
I've done pretty much everything I can think of to try and fix this, I've completely wiped itunes from my computer and re-installed, I've made sure that my ipods ios is up to date, I've reset my ipod, I've completely erased my ipod and restored it to factory settings. I have an old backup but it fails every time I try and restore it, saying that the backup session failed. I've tried resetting the lockdown folder as recommended but when I delete it, itunes can't connect to my ipod, so I ended up restoring the lockdown folder back to where it was from my trash can. I've made sure all my drivers are up to date and my computer is AMD so i know its not an intel chipset/ipod issue. I've turned off my antivirus and computer security programs and that made no difference at all.
These problems are the same when tried on another computer and I'm sure I've done other things as well but I'm drawing a blank trying to think them up.
I have an old ipod mini that has absolutely no problems at all using the same itunes and computer so I'm pretty sure this issue is located just on this ipod. I bought it used on amazon so the warranty and service coverage have already expired, so I kinda have to figure out how to fix it myself..
Anybody help at all with this would be greatly appreciated

I don't see how it could be windows causing the issue since my other ipod works fine with this installation of windows on this computer and I don't at the moment have anyway to back up what I have on my computer in order to re-install windows, but maybe if nobody else has another solution I'll look into it. Thank you for your help and suggestions

  • If my iPhone is set up with a different apple ID than my itunes library, how do I add music onto my phone?

This is the confusing part from your Original Post...
Please state Exactly who this Music you are trying to Sync belongs to.
