Add-on chrashed when main menu closed and opened
Dear All,
I have a strange problem. I wrote an add-on. It's working fine, but when the user closed the main menu and tried to open it the add-on chrashed. What can I do with this?

Unfortunately without any more information it's difficult to give some advice on this.
- Try adding a try-catch statement in your add-on to catch the exception thrown and paste it into this post.
- Do you receive any error message when using the Company.GetLastError method?
- What is your Add-On doing? Is it a UI add-on processing events or a UI/DI combination or even only using the DI?
- Have you tried to reproduce this while debugging to see what line of code causes the crash?
- Would you be able to give a code sample?

Having issues with my MacBook. Even when the internet is disconnected, apps are still closing and opening on their own. I sometimes do not have control over my cursor.....any suggestions?
There are several possible causes for this issue. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried until it's resolved. Some may not be apply in your case.
1. Follow the instructions in this support article, and also this one, if applicable. A damaged or defective AC adapter could be the cause, even if it's the right kind.
2. Open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and delete all pointing devices other than the trackpad, if applicable. Disconnect any USB pointing devices. By a "pointing device," I mean a peripheral that moves the cursor, such as a trackpad, mouse, trackball, or graphics tablet. A plain keyboard is not a pointing device.
3. Start up in safe mode and test, preferably without launching any third-party applications. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, but it comes back when you restart as usual, stop here and post your results. Do the same if you can't start in safe mode. If there was no difference in safe mode, go on to the next step.
4. Reset the System Management Controller.
5. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
6. A swollen battery in a portable computer can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced without delay.
7. Press down all four corners of the trackpad at once and release. If there's any effect, it's likely to be temporary, and the unit needs to be serviced or replaced.
8. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built-in trackpad of a MacBook to behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
9. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
10. If none of the above applies, or if you have another reason to think that your computer is being remotely controlled, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi (or your Wi-Fi access point), disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop at once, you should suspect an intrusion.
11. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine and/or external trackpad tested. -
My iPad says that she is busy and is unable to accept my request even when everything is closed and nothing is being used. What might be the problem here? 3 times my iPad has crashed while nothing was open or running and a small loading wheel would be moving signifying that the thing was loading something without permission. Even when the dang thing was on my personal wireless service that I pay for.
similar to what is happening to me....the difference is, after restoring itunes detect ipod and ask to restore again and again....
I know it may look kinda stupid but: just leave the ipod there for about 2 minutes, that's about the time my itunes is taking to detect my ipod...if it doesn't work, try connecting ur ipod to other computer with itunes (no need to sync, just to check if itunes will recognize) to check if the problem is with the ipod or with the itunes and/or computer. -
When I close Firefox and open another instance of it to look at a new site I get a pop up window telling me Firefox hasn't shutdown yet. I am aware of tabs, but I prefer to just open new windows.
Do I really need a pop up window telling me that I just closed Firefox? Is there a way to disable it in options? I can't even use Buzof program to auto click for me. I've never had this issue with any other browser and I find it incredibly annoying.I am not clear what you mean by:

Are you talking about Firefox or something else in the above statement. Firefox will, or should allow you to open quite a few tabs at startup if you wish, although it will be faster the fewer that you do open.

Again what is happening, what error messages if any do you see, and what exactly makes you think Firefox is not closing properly.

i carnt hear my message tone,the sound it makes when the phone locks and opens,also i am unable to hear music when playing from my phone but my ringtone and alarm tone work.Ive made sure the silent button is not on,and the volume button on the side of the phone is just showing it blank instead of it going up and down.To try and fix this i have reset my settings and restored my phone,but now its just skipping the music i have purchased from itunes when in a docking station which is now another problem i have as well.Can anyone help????

It sounds like even though the Mute switch is not on, sounds are not making the, well, sound they should, and the volume buttons make a blank volume indicator appear on the screen that does not show the volume level.
I wanted to recommend a couple of things.
First, I would reset the phone:
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If that does not resolve the issue, then you may want to try backing up to iTunes, and restoring the iPhone again but this time do not restore the backup and set it up as new to see if the issue persists without the previous configuration.

the background behind my pages has turned black, how do i get it to go back to grey? i have switched between preview, normal, bleed, slug and presentation and closed and opened in design and it is still black. I can't imagine layouts with the black background please help!
or maybe the interface has been set to Dark?

That doesn't actually sound like a problem. If you were viewing "My Songs", switch apps then go back to GB this what should happen. If you were playing an instrument then it should restart with that instrument selected etc. However if you can't get from the "My Songs" display to a song then I guess something is amiss.
More drastic troubleshooting steps would be...
Remove the app and reinstall it or
Backup and then restore the device.

How do I add third party plug-in to Acrobat Pro XI and add things to the main menu bar.
Running Acrobat Pro XI, (CC suite) on MacPro OSX 10.8
Main Menu Bar only shows 'Acrobat File Edit View Window Help'.
No Third Party Plug-ins are shown under 'Acrobat' on the Menu Bar
Acrobat Pro 9 (also installed) shows the Third Party Plug-ins and a lot of other options on the Menu Bar
How do I get Pro XI to look like Pro 9You'll have to install PitStop again and point it at the new Acrobat when it asks you, or you can open the Acrobat 9 package and copy PitStop from the plugins folder into the same folder in Acrobat XI.
You didn't mention which version of PitStop you have so you'll need to check the system requirements to make sure you are compatible.

Also be aware of the interface change between Acrobat 9 and XI, you no longer have all the tool bars available on the top, you now have tools in a column on the right.
But you can drag tool icons up to the top and make sets as well.

MacBook Pro (mid 2012) turns on when lid is closed and MagSafe gets attached or detached.
I own a mid-2012 Macbook Pro with the 15" high resolution screen add-on (it's the model that was released alongside the new retina versions). The processor is a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7. I run OS X 10.8.4.
I'd like to know if the following behavior is normal: when the computer is sleeping with the lid closed, and the MagSafe adaptor is either attached or detached, removing it or attaching it (with the lid still closed) will make the computer wake up from sleep. You can easily hear the fans starting when it does so. It'll stay on for 30 seconds to a minute, and then go back to sleep again. The screen doesn't seem to turn on when this happens and the lid is closed. Opening the lid when the computer exhibits this behavior results in a black (and useless) screen. In order to be able to use the pc you need to wait until it goes back to sleep on its own and then turn it back on.
Another (possibly related) issue appears when the PC turns off automatically (either while running or during sleep) because the battery is exhausted. When this happens, I usually attach the adapter (with the lid open, most of the times) and then press on the power button. A black-and-white screen with a loading bar appears for a few seconds, and then the full-color login screen appears (my pc is set to ask for the password every time it wakes from sleep). After the loading bar is gone and the full-color screen is back, I am unable to input my password, even though the password field looks focused. Neither the keyboard nor the mouse are responsive. This often happens in such a way that it is impossible for me to input my password (or interact with my pc) before it goes back to sleep for lack of interaction. Recently I've discovered that randomly pressing the power button and some keys on the keyboard (I still don't know what exactly triggers this) will make it able to receive input and thus I'll be able to type in my password and log in.

I would be concerned too if my MacBook Pro exhibiting the behavior you described. For a message like this, I recommend resetting your System Management Controller (SMC) and NVRAM.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
Note: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MacBook Pro (Early 2009) and later, all models of MacBook Air, and MacBook (Late 2009).
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

Spry hover. Main menu bar, and sub menu highlight.

I'm currently working on a project and it requries the use of Spry. I've got a horrizontal menu bar, and have a few questions.
1. Is there a way to have the ACTIVE page/button, in the menu, a diffrent background image than the other link in the bar? For example. A pressed in button as the active current page. and the remain buttons looking as if "popping" out. Also a requirement for this project is using an iFrame for the main content with all pages linked to the iframe, I think this limits what I can do, correct?
2. I've got what I want. somewhat, in regards to a background image and a hover. However I do NOT want my drop down/submenu to have the same highlight as the main menu bar. I want the main menu bar to have an image as the hover, but I only need to the drop down to have a color for it's highlight and no image.

There are different ways to have the active page button fifferent to the rest. Depending on your setup, you can inline styling, you could give the page an ID and using CSS rules give it a difference or you can use the SpryElementSelector to discover the URL and compare that with the URL in your menu. iFrames have no negative effects on a menubar.

BEx web report selection screen entries retain when closing and opening the report again
Hello all,
please help me in the below query.
Till last month the entries we made in BEx web report selection screen are retained in the selection screen even when we close the web report and open it again from portal without logging off. But recently this functionality is missing and the entries in selection screen are not remembered when we close and open the same report again. It is a good feature for the users. Have you come across this issue?No...I think i can reframe the question very clearly......For ex: we are opening a Bex Web report...so initally we would be prompted by the variable selection screen...in which we have to give the entries(Values) for those variables like Cal month, Sales org, Company code, etc.....Later on the report will get open based on the values we have given......
Now if we close the particular report without logging off then if i try to open the same report that selected values are missing.....earlier it used to remember the values we have given until we log off....But now that functionality is missing....It was very useful feature.....Can you please tel me what can be done to resolve this??

Importing XML, XML disappears when FCPX is closed and reopened.
I am attempting to use 7 to X to bring in an FCP7 project into FCPX. It works (remarkebly well I might add) and I can work on my project and everything normally. However, if I close FCPX for the day and open it again, the Project created from the XML is nowhere to be found. I have not found anything on this anywhere online.
Anyone?
thnx.7toX doesn't create a project. It creates a compound clip which should be in your event. You should copy of the contents of the compound into a project.

When searching in spotlight and opening all, how to go UP one ?
A switcher here (grin)...
In windows if you did a search and opened the file, similar to view all in spotlight then open in finder, windows automatically allowed you to go back or up one directory and so on all the way to the main dir, or root.
How is this done in OSX?Also the Path goodie in the window toolbar will let you go up as many steps as you want. If you don't have the Path tool showing, open a Finder window, then in the View menu go to Customize Toolbar and add Path. Personally I keep the following in my toolbar:
Back View Path | GetInfo NewFolder | Delete Eject | Search
The little separators between groups of similar actions helps too. The Delete tool is especially handy--select something (or several somethings) you want gone, click Delete and it is moved to the Trash.
