ADD ONS AND PoP UP WINDOWS ALERTS TO UPDATE - ARE LINKED TO TROJAN OR MALWARE

I keep getting pop ups windows everytime I go to Firefox browser. Most state that I need to upgrade my media player. I have both ignored and gone to install but my Norton Security tells me the origin of this upgrade is a TRojan Horse. I have a picture of the messages. I need your help. I am disappointed in Forefox lately for this is not the only occassion. Some of the add ons are also unsafe. (i.e. Better Surf).
I need a contact number so I can send the Printscreen Image.
Bottom line I no longer feel I can trust even these browsers. I need to resolve all these issues and I get all of these problems with both of My Browsers Chrome and Mozilla.
I cannot continue wasting such precious time fixing what I dont even understand. Also why no support number.
Your response will be absolute appreciated.
Sincerely,
Rossiebold text

Does Google have any "uninstaller" or "updater" for its stuff?
If you don't mind deleting those plugin files by hand, you can get the locations from a different page. Type or paste about:plugins in the address bar and press Enter. For each plugin file, the physical location should be listed. Note that some folders may be hidden and in order to reach those, you may want to copy as much as possible of the path (not including the final file name) and paste that into Finder to drill down into the hidden folders.
Any luck?

• When accessing Options to choose extension settings for particular add ons, and a new window for an add on's advanced selections opens, I cannot scroll to the bottom of it, it is cut off.

When I get to the point where I've made my desired selections and want to click to apply them, (or also sometimes just to see the rest of my remaining choices) I cannot because the bottom of the window is cut off. I am not able to resize the window with my pointer as one can with most windows when using programs or websites. It only happens with the pop up windows. Thank you in advance for any help!

I solved my own problem. :-) I simply needed to change the "size" setting in my add-on "Theme Font & Size Changer" to a smaller number. Now the new windows don't require scrolling to see the entire content. But, I suppose for someone with serious vision problems, they might need to do the same thing, but then break out a magnifying glass to read everything in the window.....

• Firefox does not open to "maximized" after updating add-ons and performing the restart

After checking for any updates to installed add-ons and, if there should be an update(s) available, and ... after performing the download of the update(s) with a "RESTART FIREFOX" is needed ... Firefox does not restart/reopen to MAXIMIZED. I have to manually maximize Firefox.

This problem ... I suspect ... is only when I am using Windows XP Home w/SP3. This problem does not occur when I use Firefox on Ubuntu (Linux). So now, I don't know if there is a problem with Firefox using Windows XP or that the problem is with Windows XP using Firefox. In any case, I will not just do the extra clicking to maximize Firefox after updating the addons and such. Thanks anyway.

• What is NSAppshell event window and how can I remove it? Have tried disabling all plug-ins and add-ons and it's still there and makes our computer slower than dial up!

Whenever I log off of my computer I get a message "NSAppshell event window," which slows down the performance of Mozilla and anything else we're trying to run on our computer. We're forced to log off and on to reboot and this happens nearly all the time. We have tried disabling all add-ons and plug-ins, to no avail. We are using Mozilla 4.0. Thanks for any help you can provide, as we don't want to go back to using Internet Explorer if we can help it.

I'd like you to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox, and tell me if that fixes your problem.

• I have disabled all add ons and extensions to stop adverts but everytime I log into my pc the adverts appear again? not happy :(

since I updated firefox I have been HOUNDED by adverts. I read an article that suggested disabling all add ons and extensions but they seem to enable themselves again after I open my pc! I am very careful and always tick and untick boxes when I am downloading updating anything to ensure this doesn't happen therefore these add ons seem to have been automatically added by firefox during the update. not cool! the amount of adverts and the fact I have never suffered from such a pop up invasion in my life is becoming EXTREMELY annoying how do i permanently stop these adverts?

• Videos will no longer play and add-ons and plug-ins say up to date?

My computer no longer plays videos-- whether on facebook or youtube... facebook videos get a tiny square but never open to play-- youtube screen where video should be is blank... all add-ons and plug-ins say up to date. I have comcast internet. Thank you

Please try two things, please clear the storage for the flash plug in by right clicking where the video should be and clicking "Global settings" and navigate to storage. Clear the stored data and restart Firefox.
Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See this article for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
#Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
# Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/> <br/>
# Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
# Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
# Restart Firefox.
This Flash Player Help - Display Settings page has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.
Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

• After upgrading firefox it gets hung up on checking for compatibility add-ons and won't run

I still can't find an answer on any of the support forums and no one helped me when I asked yesterday, is there anyone that may have a clue as what I can do to fix this?
I updated my fire fox on my MAC OS X to 3.6.6 version of firefox, everything went smooth till I open FireFox then the window firefox update opens up and about 1/3 through the process it gets stuck on Checking Compatibility of Add-ons and doesn't go any further. I have hit cancel and firefox opens but it doesn't open any web sites. I have removed firefox and re-installed and it is still doing the same thing. I have also let it run over night thinking it may just take a while and it never progresses, please advise, I am new to MAC but FireFox is the only browser on my mac that will open one of my business pages, known issue with mac for this company.

Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled extensions that are not compatible on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button to do a compatibility check.

After update to 10.0.1, Firefox is now slow to check add-ons and sends me to "Hooray! Your Firefox is up to date.", every time. This happens with my PC and Netbook. Please advise.

Hi jeff8478,
You should look at this article about that specific issue and the article Preferences not saved. These should give you all the information you need!
If that doesn't work:
# Type about:config in the address bar
# Click I'll be careful, I promise if prompted
# In the Filter input field type startup
# Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
# Delete the text string and click OK
# Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
Hopefully this helps!

I am not clear what your problem is and importantly whether you are trying to ask for help with Firefox.
If you have a Firefox problem can you explain what you need help with please. If the problem is with a new Windows 8 operating system you will need to find a suitable forum to discuss that.
A websearch will turn up many suitable fora one possibility is

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

• Cannot re enable the add ons after the new 13.0.1 update ,it shows no update available and all the add-ons are disabled

cannot re enable the add ons after the new 13.0.1 update ,it shows no update available and all the add-ons are disabled

I have the same problem. One minute everything was okay, the next minute all my addons were disabled.
Adobe Acrobat 10.1.3.23
AVG Site Safety Plugin 11.1.0.4
Google Update 1.3.21.115
Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.50.255 10.5.1.255
Java Platform SE 7 U5 10.5.1.255
Shockwave Flash 11.3.300.265
VLC Web Plugin 2.0.2.0
Windows Presentation Foundation 3.5.30739.1
I can reenable them but FF will disable them on the next startup. I uninstalled version 13 and installed version 12. Problem gone! So I'm still using version 12 and am afraid to update to version 13.
This problem began when I was trying to research and fix a problem (no history all-of-a-sudden) so it probably was something I caused. Can't recall everything I did though.
So: Does the addon problem I described have a solution? If so, I'll update my version 12 to version 13. Please respond.....

• ADD-ONS AND TOOLS

Hi,
Is there any difference between add-ons and tools ?
Please give the list of different add-ons available for different applications.
Thanks in advance
Srinivas.

Hi Srinivas,
The basic difference between an add-on and tools is that - a tool can be used without B1 but an add-on can only be used within B1.
Below is the list of standard SAP Provided Add-ons:-
Data Transfer Workbench
Support Tools (Early Watch Alert, Support Desk)
Fixed Assets
MS Outlook Integration
Business Configuration Sets
Payment Engine
Advanced Layout Designer
Intercompany Transactions
There are other Partner developed add-on:- basically to handle Manufacturing Process, Scheduling, Payroll, Fixed Assets, Engineering & Construction Management, Quality Management etc,. Will send the list of all SAP Certified Add-ons.
Thanks,
Srikanth

• Why have many of my add-ons and extensions been disabled after switching to firefox 6

Many of my add-ons and extensions have been disabled after switching to Firefox 6.
None of the Java extensions can be used;
my Microsoft frame is disabled;
my media player is gone;
and my google toolbar with all of my important bookmarks is missing.
How can Firefox 6 be considered an "upgrade"?
How can I retrieve Firefox 4 or 5'?--there's no point in using a browser that limits so many necessary add-on sites!

Hi, mhaoo7--
Tried your plugins updating suggestion; no go.
Then tried updating to FF7.
This time the Yahoo! toolbar was no longer compatible with FF.
Scoured sites discussing problems with versions 6 & 7
and decided to retire to version 3.6.19.
Now both Google and Yahoo! toolbars are re-installed and
working....Only deficit may be that FF no longer supports or
soon will not support this version.
I have stashed all of my necessary bookmarks on Google's toolbar;
I like its drop-down menu as it doesn't change the page/window I'm
in the process of using;
I don't want to see that menu listed separately in a new window (too chaotic).
Same for the Google dictionary and Thesaurus, which are straightforward
and easy to use, again requiring nothing more complicated than a drop-down menu
to search for words and concepts.
--I checked Firefox 6 and 7's Dictionary/Thesaurus options but unfortunately
found none.
So if Firefox continues to upgrade with diminished returns, I'll likely have to go
to Google Chrome.
Would rather not do that.
Maybe I can keep FF 3.6.19 without incurring nasty repercussions.
Hope so.
Have enjoyed being with Firefox for a few years.
Thank you for your attention.

• Right now I'm using version 3.6 somthing, but I would love to update, but I'm nervous cause last time I did my Add ons and Ext that I use didn't work. How would I know if my add ons and exts are compatible with a new version?

I'm using version 3.6.24 (whatever the latest update was that just took place 2 days ago for the 3.6 Version) What I would like to know is if I update to a newer version like 7 or 8, whichever is not a Beta, how will I know if my add ons and extensions will work? Last time I had updated to a newer version, non of my favorite add ons or extentions would work, so I went back to 3.6. Can you please help cause something needs to be done cause my Firefox crashes a lot when Adobe is being used.
I also don't know if any of my add ons are crashing my computer. Either Adobe crashes or my whole computer crashes. Can someone please help me?

you can find which addon are compatible with Firefox 8 by here

• Firefox crashing 6.0.2, a dozen times or more a day even after starting in safe mode, disabling add-ons and going through all the guides on Firefox crashes

I've done 3 uninstalls, 2 of them all the way, one keeping the customizations. I have reinstalled each time. I've updated my plug-ins, restarted in safe mode with everything disabled (including plug-ins and add-ons) and am going nuts trying to figure out why Mozilla keeps crashing. It ALWAYS crashes on the Firefox add-on page, it sometimes crashes on Youtube and Facebook and rarely on google pages. I have ran MalwareBytes, SuperAnti-Spyware, Norton scans and Norton Power Eraser, they all say that I am clean, my computer is clean and the worse thing they can find are cookies.
Please help. Thanks!!
