Add-ons Hidden in Update to Firefox 12.0 beta

After looking through the forums, this seems to be identical to the issue relating to a Firefox 7 update. However, all the tools to bring back the add-ons have been taken down as the problem was fixed in 7.0.1.
Is there a way to solve this problem in Firefox 12? All my add-ons appear to be functioning correctly (NoScript, TMP, etc.) and I can even access the prefs for those that put a link to them in the Tools menu or I have placed on the address bar via a button. But they do not appear in the about:add-ons window which reports that "You have any add-ons of this type installed."

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to do a compatibility check or see if there is a compatibility update available.

Correct the spelling of search on your link to
:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/advancedsearch
:and it would appear that the search would work, use the little dropdown underneath the big green arrow to actually pull up the advanced search you asked for, and it appears to work, I didn't actually bring up any of the results.

• How to fix problem with installed and working add-ons disappearing after update to 20.0.1?

I updated to version 20.0.1 of Firefox the other day. I had the theme Qute 3++ 1.19 installed and it took 3 restarts of the browser before it kicked in and worked again, for some reason.
Then I noticed that my MillBar Community toolbar 3.18.0.7 had disappeared, which I use for the feature of collecting my email accounts to get fast notifications about new emails. Also my Adblock Plus 2.2.3 seems to not be working because all of a sudden I see ads everywhere and I also discovered a bunch of pop-ups from nowhere. I used these add-ons for such a long time that I was shocked.
When i went to type a message to a friend, I also noticed that my american-english dictionary/spellchecker was not working.
The first thing I checked was that none of these add-ons was inactivated or said to need updates. The dictionary had disappeared, so i re-installed that. I also reinstalled Adblock Plus. Still it doesn't work.
When i entered the email information into the toolbar options, it collects my emails for a while, but suddenly it stops and the information is not there anymore. If I restart the browser it also disappears.
Same thing with the dictionary. it works for a while, and then suddenly it's like it's disabled.
And the add-ons are still in what seems like working conditions in my lists. No errors that I can see, no updates available.
I'm really at a loss as to what to do, I've never had problems like this before that couldn't be solved with an update of the add-on. So I'd be very grateful for help with this and hope that I have provided enough information.

this help is not useful.
Since the new firefox version 20.0.1, no more of my add-ons work (except firebug ). They are installed but not visible (no toolbar, no menus) !!! same for the new add - ons that I installed. I tried everything: to reinstall add-on, to reinstall firefox.
this new version of firefox is really horrible, thank you for making a corrective because I cannot work any more with

• How to find out if my add-ons are compatible with new firefox version before i install?

Is there a way to discover whether any of my current add-ons will be disabled/incompatible *Before* I upgrade to a newer version of Firefox?
Whenever I've updated Firefox, I haven't found out until After the new version is installed that my favorite 'must-have' add-on is incompatible and there is no viable/satisfactory alternative to it. The loss of Certain add-ons is, for me, a deal-breaker to upgrading. And it's a royal pain to downgrade to the previous version to retrieve my add-on.
I don't know if addiction to particular add-on(s) is common - I figure I can't be the only one . . . ?
It would be So helpful if there were a database or list that shows which add-ons are/are not compatible with which versions of Firefox. Is there such a thing? If not, could one be created?
Thanks for your help!

Firefox 9.0.1 is a real old version and is no longer supported - Firefox 24.0 is the current release version.
Open the Add-0ns manager tab and click on More for each extension that you have installed. Near the bottom of each "More" there should be a link that will take you to the download page where you can verify compatibility.
Or use this extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/is-it-compatible/ - but I'm not sure how well it will work when you are so many versions 'behind the curve'.

• Add-ons - Check for updates doesn't work

Hi
In FF5 i found that the "Check for Updates" and "Update Add-ons Automatically" does not work for plugins. I notice in FF6 that a link has appeared "Check to see if your plugins are up to date".
However i've now discovered that in FF6, "Check for Updates", "Find Updates" (from the right-click menu of a particular add-on) and "Update Add-ons Automatically" did not work for extensions either.
Please see here for evidence https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/862250
My question is - is Check for Updates / Update Add-ons automatically intended to work for either plugins or extensions. If so, has the bug been reported, if not, why is it there?
thanks ...

That is because the creator hasn't uploaded that new version yet to the Add-ons site and if he has done that then the extension still needs to be approved before updating will work.<br />
Such unapproved extension usually appear first on the versions page (e.g. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/speed-dial/versions/) waiting for review, but that hasn't happened yet if this case.
Plugins always need to be updated manually by visiting the website or via an alert from the plugin (Java and Shockwave do that)

• Why do I have to reinstall add-ons every time I restart firefox?

Every time I restart Firefox, all my add-ons have disappeared and I have to reinstall them again. Any idea what I can do about that? Thanks!

There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes.
If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

If this hasn't helped then also delete possible addons.json and addons.sqlite files.

• With or without add-ons, and after removing/reloading Firefox, some sites behave badly, though they're fine with Internet Explorer.

The computer in question is running Vista. With Firefox 8, some websites, e.g. Whitepages.com, livefreept.com, behave badly. Spedifically, they require the user to click on tabs. But the tabs don't appear at all. I upgraded to Firefox 10, to no effect. The sites work fine on this same computer with Internet Explorer, and on both our XP and Windows 7 computers using older older versions of Firefox. All three are using the same Norton Internet Security program, with the same settings. Starting in safe mode, with no add-ons has no effect. Help!

Perform the suggestions mentioned in the following articles:

• Do I have to use add-ons or can I use Firefox savely without add-ons?

Can I use Firefox savely without add-ons? If not, how will I know which add-ons are needed? How save are the add-ons? What if an add-on contains a bug or a mistake? Will I get updates automatically?

Add-ons are optional. I find some of them incredibly useful, but you probably will end up with different ones that suit your needs or interests.
If the add-ons are installed from the Mozilla Add-ons site, then they are checked for updates on a regular basis.
Some add-ons will have bugs or cause conflicts with other add-ons or web sites. You can see the evidence of that on this forum, especially after major upgrades... All that flexibility makes Firefox harder to support, but everyone wants choice. :-)
I should add that much of the web does not work correctly with the Adobe Flash plugin, so maybe that one isn't so optional.

• Is there a way to block add-ons from being installed in Firefox, even add-ons coming from 3rd party sites?

I work in a small call center and I have been working on trying to convince IT and management to use Firefox on the computers on the call floor. The main issue I have been having in convincing them, is that you can't block add-ons and things like that as easily as in IE. I thought I had it with blocking addons.mozilla.org, which wouldn't allow access to Mozilla's add-on site. However, with that, techs would still be able to go to 3rd party sites, generally the creators of the add-ons, and download them there. Anybody have any ideas on how to stop this?

You can configure Firefox settings to notify you before installing an add-on.
-> click Firefox button and click Options (or Tools Menu -> Options)
* Security panel -> place Checkmark on Warn me when websites try to install add-ons -> click Exceptions button -> click Remove All Sites button and click OK
* click OK on Options window
Check and tell if its working.

• Why do I have to force quit firefox? All my plug-ins and add-ons are disabled, and still firefox cannot quit.

Apple Q and Firefox > Quit Firefox do not work. The only thing that works is FORCE QUIT.

If Firefox hangs (stops responding) when you try to clear the cache and cookies and you have already disabled all Extensions and Plugins from the Firefox (Tools) Add-ons manager, then the problem could be one of the files in your Firefox profile. See Firefox hangs and try creating a new Places database, by opening the profile folder (via "Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Show in Finder"), then quitting Firefox, and deleting the file(s) places.sqlite and places.sqlite-journal (if it exists).
If that doesn't help:
Try creating a new Firefox profile for testing (this will not remove your existing profile ; you can choose between the two in the Firefox Profile Manager). See Managing profiles for details. For other ideas, see Basic Troubleshooting.

• Advertising add ons keep installing unasked into firefox

Every now and again Firefox automatically closes and reeopens with an advertising add on installed - this was unrequested and my settings are ask me before installing add ons.
Anyone else had this and how can I stop it happening?

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

• Is it possible to show add-ons as icons on the Firefox toolbar?

I've downloaded a couple of add-ons e.g. print/preview, screen grabber and wonder if these can be shown as icons on the toolbar instead of having to follow a menu/sb-menu route, which is a bit of a faff.
