• Since downloading 5.0, my add-ons icons no longer show at bottom of page.

The icons for my add-ons no longer appear at the bottom of the page. This happened when I downloaded Firefox 5.0.
How do I correct this so that the icons show. bold text

Many thanks John99.
I got around to disabling FAVICON PICKER 2 version 0.6.2.15 and the tab icons came flooding back - perfect. I will still be able to use the FAVICON add-on when I would like to add an icon to a bookmark and the disable it again so I have the best of both worlds.
Many thanks again.

• Some add-ons icons vanished and firefox is unstable

some of my add-ons icions are vanished and i can`t use those add-ons. along with issue i want to tell that firefox in loading to hard and is unstable.

Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled extensions that are not compatible on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button to do a compatibility check.

• Some add-ons are missing in the tools menu and / or modules and navigation bar

I am running Firefox 20 FRENCH (this is maybe important as all of this below does not appear with the EN version...) on MacOSX 10.6.8.
Symptoms :
- Web Developer toolbar not displayed anymore.
- Xmarks add-ons not displayed in the module bar.
- Icons of other add-ons displayed in the navigation bar ONLY after the first firefox opening i.e. just after system restart. If firefox is closed and re-opened, all the add-ons icons are lost.
> All the add-ons are installed in tha add-on menu.
> This behavior only appear with the FRENCH versions of firefox (tried 19.0.2 and 20).
> Installed the 19.0.2 ENGLISH version and all is OK !!!
Fixes attempts (tried almost everything...) :
- Reset firefox profile and restart with a new one : no effect (after I have reinstalled all the add-ons one by one...)
- Uninstall Firefox (with profiles folder, cache folders, etc...) then reinstall : no effect
- The only thing that is working is using the ENGLISH version...
This is really annoying because as a web developer I really need the Web Developer extension.
Does anyone has an idea of how to fix this ?
Thank you very much for your help !
Regards,

Does it have any effect if you change the general.useragent.locale pref to en-US ?

Hi rmmilleriii,
You should take a look at this article that discusses some of the issues with the latest build of Firefox.
There is some information in there that should help you to resolve your issue. Luckily, it is a very easy fix.
Hopefully this helps!

• Clicking the Firefox icon is fine but if I open a new tab it seems Yahoo carries out the search. How can I get rid of Yahoo (not add-ons).

Clicking the Firefox icon to open it is fine but if I open a new tab (Control T) it seems Yahoo carries out the search. How can I get rid of Yahoo? It's not in Tools Add-ons or Extensions and Windows control panel doesn't show Yahoo either.
I must have downloaded something that smuggled Yahoo in, but what?

• On one of my computers, the tool bar includes an icon for radio stations and a calculator, but those do not appear on my other computer. Are these add-ons? How do I add them to my other computer?

When I downloaded Firefox 4 on my desktop, it included an icon for radio stations, for the weather and a calculator. I don't remember choosing them. I also downloaded Firefox 4 on my netbook, but these same icons are visible. Can I add them?

These may well be add-ons, look at what you have installed
* use Firefox button(orange tab top left) -> Add-ons | Plugins/Extensions
that is the add-ons manager, and also allows you to search for other addons
* see also customizing firefox with add-ons
Some of the icons could also be bookmarks, note the bookmark toolbar does not display in Firefox 4 by default to get it back
* use Firefox Button -> Options -> [x] Bookmarks Toolbar
that is assuming you have bookmarks in the bookmarks toolbar folder (should have some defaults like 'most visited')
Some add-ons may not be compatible with Firefox 4, but revisions may be issued that work, or alternatives with similar functions may be available.

• Im getting a grey box at the bottom of my screen under the display line for the add ons like ghostry, personnas and greasemonkey icons are . i cant seem to get a "full screen" anymore . can you tell me how to overcome this

the box is located under the icon line at the bottom of the screen and above the window tool bar/icon box ! its almost like im running in a wide screen mode ! i cant seem to find a way of making the screen deeper, so it fills all the available space ! its also . freezing and it messes with the add ons and the adobe plugins ! a real shame cause i think the new layout is great . kep up the good work

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?
• Is it possible to show add-ons as icons on the Firefox toolbar?

I've downloaded a couple of add-ons e.g. print/preview, screen grabber and wonder if these can be shown as icons on the toolbar instead of having to follow a menu/sb-menu route, which is a bit of a faff.

• In "Customize Toolbar", how do I know which icons are attached to specific extensions or add-ons?

When I right-click on the main toolbar to customize it, the set of icons that are shown to me are numerous. I know this is due to the add-ons that I use. What I want to know is what icons go to which extensions? There are a lot of similar ones (like left and right arrows) that do quite different functions. Then there are others which aren't easily identifiable. Right now I do a trial-and-error process of adding an icon to the toolbar, testing it, deciding first, whether it did anything, and second whether I need it. But this is cumbersome. I didn't know if there was something on the back end or even another addon that would make this easier.
Your help is much appreciated.

Deleting on one device does not affect another device.
You can delete the App's on the iPhone and nothing will happen to the ones on the iPad.
1. You don't need to.
2. Settings->Cellular->"Use Cellular Data For" will show the data usage for each App since the last statistics reset
3. Settings->General->Background App Refresh Will show which Apps are allowed to get data in the background
4. It restricts it to Wifi. If the App requires internet access and Data is turned off, it will have to wait until the device is connected to a wifi network.
5. Nope, You just use up battery since the BT radio will continuously look for nearby BT devices.
6. The Personal Hotspot uses your cellular internet connection from your phone or other cellular device; whether you consider that secure or not I cannot say. It also depends on what you are doing while connected to the Hotel's wifi. I would not do online banking while on vacation though.

• Can't update add-ons, install toolbars or new add-ons, get desktop shortcut icons to work, delete desktop shortcut icons, or uninstall Firefox! Help!

I have Firefox 3.6.3 running on a Toshiba Satellit laptop with Windows XP. I can't update add-ons, install google and yahoo toolbars, get any of the 3 desktop shortcuts to work or delete them, nor uninstall Firefox to try and start over. What a piece of crap! How can I wake up from this nightmare?
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== Every time I try to use Firefox.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems
See #Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox

• Somehow my firefox icon at the google search bar is missing. it happened once before. don't remember how I fixed it. had to do with add-ons or plug-ins. it was a real easy fix to restore but don't remember

Somehow my firefox logo is missing at the google search bar. I used to see the firefox logo when I opened firefox. Now all I see is the box to put the search terms in, nothing else. This happened once before and there was a real simple fix - but don't remember. it had to do with plug-ins or add-ons. I'm using xp

same problem here for the past two days till this morning when I created a new profile and removed ALL addons from the default profile. With the new profile with NO addons, I got to the sites with video that I had problem with and flash player did work.
Now, I only have three addons that have not created the problem; adblock, flashgot, and flashblock.
Create a new profile and check it out.

• I can't find tools, add-ons, Sync (tabs, bookmarks, etc.). I've clicked on every clickable thing. Where is all this stuff? I prefer a menu with words I can read rather than pictures I have to guess, but I've clicked on every icon and can't find anything.

I just need someone to tell me how to access my add-ons, tools, options, Firefox Sync (including my tabs and bookmarks from other computers), and so on. Where did it all go?

Do you see what is missing when you hit the Alt key on your keyboard?

• I want to delete the Yahoo toolbar. Selected "Tool" then "add-ons".but add-on page won't load, loading icon keeps spinning for an hour. Re-booted, but same.

I looked at some of the suggested fixes and did click on Extensions then back to Add-ons, but still won't load. I also un-clicked so that add-ons aren't automatically updated, but it still won't load.

First, if the active category on the left side of the Add-ons page is Get Add-ons, click Extensions to bypass whatever is loading and go directly to the area likely to have the toolbar. (I think it's loading a page of popular add-ons, which isn't very relevant to what you want to do.) Does that work?
If that doesn't work, you could try disabling all add-ons first and see whether that makes a difference. You can do this using Firefox's Safe Mode dialog.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode (Safe Mode) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the Safe Mode dialog, check just the box to "Disable all add-ons" then click Make Changes and Restart. Does this allow you to access the Add-ons page?

• How do I REMOVE an ADD-ON from my TOOLBAR, when said ADD-ON does NOT show up in my ADD ONS Manager?

I have been instructed to:
"When you open Firefox up in the left hand corner there is a drop down box that says "Firefox". Click on this and go to add-ons a new page will open with tabs on the side.
Click on ADD-ONS, use ADD-ON Manager...."
That does not happen that way. (I am on Firefox 19.0 for MAC.)
When I click on Firefox (left hand corner at top of screen) "ADD-ONS" does NOT appear.
I get "preferences" and "services" plus, of course ABOUT/HIDE/SHOW/QUIT choices.
Running through ALL choices in PREFERENCES (which was not included as a step in your description) I find NO WAY to "deal with" ADD-ONS in General, Security, Privacy or Advanced.
"services" says only NO SERVICES APPLY"
I KNOW that I have an "ADD-ON Manager" I can open that. The ADD-ON that I need to REMOVE/Uninstall/Disable does NOT show there.
It is an ICON on the lowest level of my toolbars showing above my window. Whether this is an awesome bar, or any other specially named bar I can't tell you, but: LOWEST section.
This creepy ADD-ON (that I never personally installed) is called PRICEGONG - and it is now opening up a pop-up on all my eBay pages and elsewhere -trying to sell me things.
It is wasting SO much of my time and I need to get it gone.
WHAT do I do now? The PRICEGONG company has explanation of what to do to uninstall, but (no surprise) THEIR instructions/steps do not match reality either. RESULT: I can't get RID of this thing and am wasting huge amounts of time now with it.
WHAT CAN I DO?

hello, the addons manager is exactly the right place to look for it. please try disabling the addons that are listed there one-by-one (a restart of the browser might be necessary after each step). maybe one of them is bundling this kind of adware.
