Add or change Contact Photos with Maverick

Add or change contact pictures is not working in Contacts with Maverick! Editing or Changing Contact Photos by double clicking on the photo box opens a menu with the options of: Defaults, iCloud, Faces, and Camera. However if I try and use Faces, the only thing that comes up is a message: "Find and organise photos of people in iPhoto or Aperture using Faces" No Photos load! And yes I do have Faces set up in iPhoto.

So you don't get anything when editing the photo? No window of any kind?
Do you have any other editing issues with those contacts? You could have a corrupt index file that is not letting you edit them.
If it is not a corrupt index, a workaround for putting in photos is you can drop images into the photo frame.

After changing contact photo on iPhone, photo no longer shows up in outlook

I had my contact photos all setup on my iphone, and syncing correctly with iTunes and showing up correctly in Outlook 2007. The photos are stored on the iPhone, and set either by selecting the photo and doing "Assign to Contact", or in Contacts, Edit, Edit (the picture) and "Choose Photo". They would show up as a thumbnail in the Outlook 2007 Business Card view, and also in the detail when you double-click a contact. This part of the process hasn't changed.
What has changed is iOS4. Now, when I go in and change a contact's photo on the iPhone, it no longer shows up correctly in Outlook 2007. It shows a blank space when showing the Business card view, but shows the photo correctly in the detail if I double-click a contact. Even if I change it back to the photo that it was, it still won't show correctly in Outlook 2007 Business Card view.
Contacts whose photos I haven't changed since iOS4 show correctly in both places in Outlook 2007.
Anyone else seeing this or have a fix?

I'm having the same troubles and after searching for a while i found
the following solution:
In short (from http://gyoo.com/blog/?p=48)
First, some figures:
iPhone camera resolution: 1600×1200 (72dpi)
iPhone screen resolution: 320×480 (160dpi)
iPhone contact picture display size: 64×64 (160dpi)
iPhone contact picture display size on call: 320×270 (160dpi)
Outlook import resolution: 72×96 (72dpi)
- On your PC, resize the image contact to 320×320 (160dpi),
knowing that 25 pixels on the top and bottom will be semi-transparent when on call.
- On your PC, create a folder iPhone Photos\Contacts and move your contact photos inside Sync the photos into your iPhone with iTunes through the Photos tab.
- Select the iPhone Photos folder as source.
- Manually associated the photo to your contact on the iPhone
(Edit ->Add Photo->Choose Existing Photo)
- Sync back the iPhone with iTunes.
The photos will be associated automatically into Outlook with the good resolution this time.

Whats up with sync..... I really need it to work!!!!!

The general advice on the web is that with Mavericks you need to sync using iCloud. I did this, but things still aren't syncing. It's a serious problem. I think I'll try talking to the Apple store people.

Address Book, Exchange Account, Contact Photos with iPhone and EntourageEWS

In SL Address Book I cannot assign a picture to a contact in my Exchange AB. For my local AB this still works fine. Bug or by design?
With my iPhone I can assign pictures to my Exchange contacts and this pictures will also displayed in Address Book and Entourage 2008 EWS.
If I assign a picture in Entourage EWS it will show up in Address Book, but NOT on the iPhone.
Any Ideas?

So in regards to this issue, what's the best way of getting photos assigned to contacts when using an Exchange server. I have a bunch of contacts stored locally on my Mac address book which I had since copied over into the Exchange server. You state I can only assign photos from within the iPhone. So what's the best way to get a photo on the Mac to the iPhone. Do I get photos into the iPhoto, sync my iPhone with my Mac, and then go to the iPhone and manually add the photos to contacts one a time? Is there a faster/better way?

Update iPhone contacts Photos with Facebook

Hello all. Maybe I'm just missing something, but here's what I want to do. I do not want to sync my facebook contacts onto my iPhone, that's far too many contacts I don't need. Instead what I want to do is update the photos on my phone's contacts to their current facebook ones. Most of the ones right now are out dated, no longer current profile pictures. Any way for me to get the current ones? I've tried using the update contacts button, but it doesn't pull their new profile pictures.

Try uninstalling the facebook application and re installing the application. Make sure once you are setting the facebook application back up to choose the option sync with contacts.

Change VPN port with Maverick server 3.2.2 ??

Hi,
on a new installed server I want to have access via VPN. Serversoftware is set up, VPN is running but connection is refused from outside.
Did a port check and found out that only port 1723 is routed to the server on the Fritzbox router.
Okay, now we also routed the 500 UDP and tried to switch the 1701, but as this is already occupied by some other hardware on the network (Synology NAS via upnp) we have only the port 1702 to choose - but I don´t know how to tell the server software to provide the connection via this port :-/ ...
By the way : the firewall on the mac is switched on (OS X 10.9.5) - tried to find some settings for the ports to change there but didm`t succeed.
If all of this info sound confusing I beg your pardon - I`m not too deep in this, just semi-professional ;-)

Contacts photo not updated in my organization

a few days ago, I changed my photo with Lync and Outlook. And as refered, I updated it sucessfully in my Lync and Outlook.
The problem is I found the photo is still displaying as the old one in my colleague's contacts...
Is it possible to update it in the organization?

Hi,
Agreed with Ricardo. Based on my test, this is because your colleague has added you to his personal contact in the local machine. When he/she views your contact, the photo shows the saved contact from the local client instead of Global Address List.
To update your photo in your colleague’s contact in cached mode, please do the following steps in his/her Outlook client:
1. Open Outlook.
2. Click SEND/RECEIVE > Send/Receive Groups > Download Address Book to make sure the GAL is updated in Outlook.
3. Click Contact. Then remove the old contact and re-add it from Global Address List.

Make facebook stop replacing contacts photo ?

When i use facebook on my n8 it replace my contacts photo with very low quality pictures from facebook, how i make it stop ? I have to re change more than 100 pictures all the time it's a hell...

It might be a glitch, try to Delete Account and adding the account again. You should be able to turn off contacts, calendar or any other app you have given access to your Facebook account.

Contact photo Outlook Exchange 2010 Issue

I use iPhone 4S with OS 5.0.1. I use Exchange to sync my mail, calendar and contacts with my Exchange 2010. However, when I sync my iPhone contact photos with Facebook on my iPhone, contact photos are not visible on Outlook but instead appear as empty squares. Any ideas? Thnks!

Same here - I've been Google’ing a lot, and it seems there may be a problem with the photo resolution from FB against Outlooks (which looks like demands 72 dpi?!?)
Actually, if you open a contact on the iPhone, then "edit" and edit the photo (without making any changes) and then save, the photo will appear in Outlook in a couple of seconds. However, if you re-sync with FB, the photo will disappear again
This has worked before, so I really hope they can sort it out....

Editing Contacts Photos

So if you have been noticing in the Apple iPhone photos on www.Apple.com they show an outgoing call with their contacts picture in the upper right. Now if i set a contacts photo it always appears in teh background of the call, not in the upper right. How do i set it so when i call ther persons pic appears in the upper right corer and my wallpaper appears behind the call?

If you set a contacts photo with the iPhone, it appears full size in the background with the caller ID.
If you want it the contact's photo in the upper right like the Apple iPhone photos, set your contact's photo with Address Book only and not with the iPhone.

Phone B = phone that you want to copy from A

Bad idea.
What information do you want to share, exactly? You can share contacts, reminders, and calendars with other iCloud users without the need for both of you to use the same iCloud account. You can authorize both phones to use apps purchased under the same Apple ID without sharing an iCloud account.
Sharing an iCloud account is a bad idea in general. There is too much opportunity for someone to damage or delete data that will affect both.

Taking Photo's with the camera and adding as a contact photo

Using my new Palm Pre 2 and took a photo to add as a contact.
The process is simple enough to assign the photo taken to the contact, by lining up within the square and pressing Assign to contact.
However the end result just shows a blurred image of the enlarged photo.
Does anyone know how a picture taken with the camera can be set to view correctly as the contact?
Imported photo's work fine, but that defeats the object, i.e. you see a friend, take their photo but can't add it correctly to your contacts.

That's correct - there is only one camera on the TouchPad, and it was meant for video chatting. The camera app was added by HP as an afterthought when other Homebrew authors started writing their own "Camera" apps.

These timezone definition changes are fairly common, when viewed world-wide.
For notifying Apple, contact the folks at the Apple Support Center or (if you have access) log a bug report. (The folks at Apple might or might not notice any postings made here.)
For the immediate case, updating the timezones yourself is straightforward; the sequence is basically the same on Linux, OS X, Unix and even OpenVMS. Ugly, but it works. (The US folks got to see this mess first-hand a few years ago, but there are other locations that see these sorts of timezone definition changes far more often.)
For those following along that aren't familiar with this sequence, this old posting should get you close when rebuilding your definitions, though the timezone database has moved to IANA.

You got your original layered file. Nothing new or special here.
PS opened with the "Happy Birthday" type layer intact and with the smart object background layer. Of course, the LR edits, crop and vignette on the psd file were not visible in PS.
Because they don't exist there! They will when you render them.
I clicked the eye of the Happy Birthday to render it invisible.
I added a new "Happy Anniversary" type layer.
Saved the new revised psd file and returned to LR.
In LR, I still have only 1 psd file stacked with the original raw file, but now it says Happy Anniversary. Note: sometimes it may take a few moments for the new PS edits to appear. By selecting another image and then reselect this psd file tends to speed this rendering of the new image.
So where in all this is the LR edits you produce AFTER up created the layers after opening the layered doc in PS?
I now have a new card ready to print just as before with all the LR edits originally made on the birthday card including the LR edits, crop and vignette made on the original psd file.
And as far as I can tell, all those edits were applied in PS AFTER rendering.
If I send that psd file a third time to PS, I still have the smart object layer, and both type layers. I can add a 3rd type layer "Happy Easter" if I so desire and return to LR.
Again, the crop and vignette are seen in the one psd file in LR.
So...yes, I can have both layers AND LR adjustments including the original raw adjustments through the smart object background.
No, you have a layered file and you have instructions but the layered file isn't rendered with those instructions and doing so would flatten the results.
