Add pages to a template?

I would like to use a predesigned Newsletter template in the new version of Pages; but increase the number of pages from 2 to 12. I can't figure out how to do this. I am hoping it is an obvious thing I have just overlooked.

Adding pages to custom templates

Hi I'm returning to the Mac after many years away and I'm hoping someone can help me. I designed a recipe template in Pages with text boxes formatted the way I want. But I can't seem to add pages to the template or document that keep that specific format of 4 text boxes with certain attributes - nothing fancy. How do you add a page that keeps the same setup of text boxes as the first page? Thanks for any help you can give.

I just happen to stumble across this question trying to get a question answered myself. I am not sure what formatting is getting changed when you attempt to add a new page or how you are adding a new page. So I will make the following assumptions. Please let me know how far off I am.
When you are adding a new page I assume that you are using [Menu] Insert -> Page Break.
When you say the formatting changes you mean that the Text Boxes move to locations that you do not want.
If this is the case then you will want to select the text box and then look into the inspector [Menu] View->Show Inspector. Go to the Wrap Inspector (3rd tab from the left) and ensure the "Floating (doesn't move with text)" is selected. This should let you place the text boxes anywhere and the text will just "deal with it". This also means the text boxes don't care where page breaks are either.
Another way of placing text in columns or in an arranged order is to use a Table. You can remove the headers and show or hide boundary lines. I often use table to layout my text and then remove the borders. This looks great when you need to write out terms and their definitions.

How to add sub pages in iWeb templates

Anybody knows how to add a sub pages in the templates? I want to add sub pages under the main header, e.g. "About Us."

Just to say that you can do it in the way that Steve has already said and I did this on one of my sites and it worked really well.
Lets take your example of About George. You create your page About George and you include this page in your navigation menu. Now lets suppose that you have more that you want to add about George with two other pages - George at Work and George at Play. You want to link to these pages from About George, but you don't want the page names visible. Well, you can do this by creating the pages and then going to Inspector. Click on pages and then check don't include in navigation menu. Then you can create links on the About George page to get to the other pages George at Work and George at Play - use shapes or text boxes to create these with something like Back and Next on those pages to take you forward to the next page and then back to the main page.
I think you will need to create your own nav bar to be able to achieve this, as it means linking to different pages, but it does work well.

Pages (or Numbers) Template Cannot Be Opened From Outside the Application

Ever since the upgrade to Mavericks, I cannot open a Pages (or Numbers) template without being asked.....
Do you want to add this custom template to the Template Chooser? Then my only options are Cancel or Add to Template Chooser.
If I cancel, it won't open anything.
But this template is already in my Template Chooser.
So the only way to open a template in Pages (or Numbers) is to open the application first, and then click "New", and choose the template.
I can't figure out a way to open the template from outside the application, which is very very handy, rather than having to open the application every time that I want to access a template.
How can I open a template simply by clicking on it?

Yes, the problem is that opening the template from outside of the application will not open the application, showing the document. I only get this....

Put your Pages or Numbers document on your desktop and open it by double-clicking it, and you'll understand. You can't do it, even if the template is in your template chooser.
The only way to do this now is to open the application, select "New", and the select the template. So you cannot open a template from outside the application....only from within.

Header and trailer pages in report templates

Hi:
I wonder how can i make header and trailer pages in the tamplate reports , so that the objects in the template header & footer report would be inherited to the generated reports. I use Oracle reports 6.0.8 and there is no header section, niether Trailer section in the Template Editor, I've read in the reports online help :"You can use the margin and body of the Header and Trailer sections to create a Header and Trailer page as in earlier releases. In future releases, you will be able to add and delete sections.", is there any method i can use to make header&trailer pages in the template.

I have the same question. This is what I found on Metalink.

fix: It is not possible to have a HEADER/TRAILER section in a Reports Template Definition File (TDF). Templates do not need to have a HEADER/TRAILER section, infact there is no sectioning in a template. They just define the visual layout when applied against a report section.

Can users add page to pdf?

Is it possible to have users add pages to a pdf as needed? We are having applicants fill in a pdf application. Some of them only need one copy of page 3 to tell us their work history, but some of them need 5 copies of page 3. Is it possible for the user to add more copies of a specific page as needed? The users will likely not have any sort of pdf software.

Only if they have a copy of the full Acrobat and not Adobe Reader.
You can use a hidden template to spawn new pages but only with Acrobat.
If you use LiveCycle Designer, you can use master pages to add a new page.
How are the canidates going to return the form or information back to you?

Urgent - How to add pdf files to template document in multiple sessions?

Hi, forum!
VERY new to using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional, so I am reaching out for help.
We have a "template" document with pre-assigned bookmarks. I need to add multiple PDF files into it, either by inserting pages, adding the complete PDF, and/or extracting pages, then assigning the locations to each individual bookmark.
The ending page count will be about 300 pages, and there is no way that I can create the complete document in one day or one session.
A) What is the best way to add pages from multiple PDF files into this "template" document?
B) Is there a way to add pages in one session, save it out, then add additional pages to the same output document on a different day, etc., without having to "re-add" the previous pages and until I am done and ready to finalize the document?
I would really appreciate a fast response, as my new job kind of depends upon me doing this well...

Some of the PDF documents I am to work from are "protected," meaning I can read them but not extract any pages or click to add them to a list of files to import...but I need to extract some or all pages from it. Any suggestions on this?

Use pages from other templates...not just the one you chose.

Is there a way to choose a page from another template besides the one I started with. For example if I choose the "School Report" template, but want to also use a page from the "Lesson Plan" template, how can I do this. If you click add new page, it only gives you the initial template pages. I tried opening a new template and copying and pasting the page I wanted, but it does not work.

My guess is that it's because the objects are floating ones.
If you switch them as inline one, you will be able to copy the page, sometimes after inserting section breaks.

Different page layout from template?

In the new Pages with Maverick I can't find a way to use a different page layout from a template than the two layouts in miniature by default. Have you found a way?

The templates doesn't have several different pages layouts anymore, which they had in Pages 09. Pages 5.0 is a very strpied down Pages. You could say Pages very Lite should be the name.
What you could try is open the old Pages 09 ( in the application folder > iWork 09 folder) the templates you like. Add the different page layouts in templates so they not are hidden. Save as a documents. Now open them in Pages 5.0 and save as templates.

New pages made From Template messed up!

I have made a template that is not yet finished... I decided
to test it out, but when I make new pages from it, the formatting
is messed up (in any new pages that I create from the template).
This of course is happening prior to uploading to the pages... (I
need to make many different pages from the template but cannot
proceed because of this...)
If I preview the new ‘messed up’ page in Safari
(that is by clicking the Preview button in Dreamweaver itself), it
is almost OK, but the background image does not show up. Could
anyone suggest what I might need to do to get the ‘new’
page to appear fine in Dreamweaver itself.
I am new to Dreamweaver and have just started with it since
moving from GoLive...

If it would be considered a bug, then many programs would
have it! As a
general rule of thumb, it's best to avoid any characters in
your
file/pathnames other than letters, numbers, and
hyphens/underscores. That
would eliminate spaces, quotes, ampersands, parentheses, etc.

Page wise total for multiple pages in xml template

This issue has been resolved.
We had a call to the method "makeOutputFlat(true)" before the call to "FormProcessor.process()" that was corrupting the PDF template file.Once we took that off , the PDF is now printing multiple pages.

How do I move a Page into a template?

I have a MONDO form, with lots (and lots) of pages.
I want to move a page (or more) onto (into ?) a template so I can hide/unhide it as needed using Javascript.
I can't find anything in Acrobat Pro-XI that talks about templates, or how to define a page/section/etc as part of a template.
I understand that I will need the latest and greatest reader version to use this function/feature.
Is there any other way to make an entire page appear/dissaper?
I don't want to use "external" documents, as then all of the things that total pages will return error if the pages aren't there.
If they are "there" but hidden, everything works fine. If I need the pages, I can "unhide" them and everything else stays the same...

Then I don't quite understand how template pages function.
Does that mean that fields on a template page are not visible to the rest of the form while they are "hidden"?
My fields are consecutively numbered so I can add them up with a simple loop....
something like : for (var lineNo=0; lineNo <= 17; lineNo++) { total = total +this.getField(Fieldname+lineNo).value }
If I have Fields 1-5 on page 1
                          6-11 on page 2 (hidden template)
                        12-17 on page 3 (hidden template)
If I try to add up fields 1-17, but 6-17 are "hidden" on a template page, will JS give me an error?
next...when I "spawn" the page do I end up with
      I have Fields 1-5 on page 1
                          6-11 on page 2 (spawed and visible)
                          6-11 on page 2 (hidden template)
                        12-17 on page 3 (hidden template)
do I now have TWO sets of fields 6-11??   (Will acrobat do the Field 6#1 and Field 6#2? thing?)
What will happen when I try to run my script to add up fields 1-17?
I am sure I can detect if the extra pages are there, and change the loop size, but that means building some 'special cases', which are error prone. And then you have to "Undo" and delete the pages if they un-select the page...it gets really messy realy fast... and my forms are messy enough as it is....
PS...I have over 750 fields, running the "total" fuction takes about 2 seconds from "mouse_up" on the caculate button, 4 seconds on a tablet.

Automatically add page numbers to PDF

Hi all,
I've got a pdf document with forms which also contains a "Add Page" button which adds another matching page.
What I would like to add to is a "Page 1 of n" type field that auto updates with the amount of pages in the document.
I have seen something similiar in previous posts but these were dependent on pressing a button to update the page numbers or was implemented in a way I do not understand.
Please keep in mind I have no clue about Javascript, the only reason I have gotten so far is info from these forums!
I have access to the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite of tools so Acrobat Pro, Illustrator etc is at my disposal for the above.

I added your script and it worked on the first page, but as soon as I click my add page button the first pages numbers goes from "page 1 of 1" to "page 0'11 of 2". The second page, which I added via a template, then shows "page 1 of 1".
Any thougts on this?

Can you Bulk "Disable" Pages in a Template?

Hi there,
Just new to BC - I'm creating a site from a template, which by defalut has about 30 pages "Enabled"... is there a way to "bulk enable" or bulk "disable" pages from within a template in BC?
I only want to use say 4 of the 30 odd pages in a template, do i have to manually go through each page to "Disable" the ones that I don't want to show?
There are check boxes to the left of the page titles, indicating that this type of thing "could" occur (ala wordpress)
Am I missing something?

Reason for disabling and or deleting so many pages is i have used a template that has come with 60 odd pages.. we only need 5 or 6
To make it easy for end user to see only actual pages he needs to edit i want to delete or hide the unwanted ones.
This is a standard feature amongst all the leading open source CMS's so am a little surprised why you would be asking.
I am probably missing something obvious as I am new to BC so i stand open to correction.
Is this a feature really being considered by BC? It was supposed to be near in 2012
