Add photos without syncing?

Is there a way to add photos without syncng? Like from the internet?

how about some basic organisational systems?
the ability to have different folders for example? or to be able to import/sync/whatever from more then one folder on my (windows xp) computer? this is really annoying...
why also do the subfolders in my playlists on itunes dissapear on my 32 gig touch? i am really tired of waiding thru all my kids playlists (spoken aduio books for car trips etc) and my wifes xmass collections everytime i want to switch up some music! on itunes i just put them in subfolders for each person...
syncing is a pain, especially since i havent figured how to sync in what direction! (do i loose tunes when i save to ipod vrs computer when i alter both playlists independantly?)
while im ranting....grin
why cant i use my touch hooked up to the computer with a cable similiar to a wifi? id love to get the weather etc... but i cant make it work because i dont have a wifi connection? thats nuts.
it doesnt want to support email that way either...
if anyone could lend some sanity to my life it would be hugly appreciated!
can we trick the computer/ipod interface cable into making it think its a wifi?
the ipod is locked in the glovebox of a 79fiat spyder 90% of the time, played thru a harmon kardon interface via fm unfortunatly so far to a eclipse deck thru a kicker amp into boston acoustic component speakers. a great way to cruise the summer away!

  • Streaming Photos Without SYNCing ????

    I would like to STREAM photos from my iMac to the Aplle TV without SYNC them.
    In other words I do not want them stored on the Apple TV.
    Someone told me I had to "pair" my Apple TV to my iMac for streaming.
    I do believe that yesterday I was 'streaming' a movie to the ATV, or at least I was playing it as it was SYNCing.
    Thanks fort he help!

    Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
    If you have syncing enabled then you need to sync photos in order to stream them, you can of course turn syncing off and just stream everything including photos, but I'm not sure this is what you want to do.
    There is one other alternative, it's a little messy and for mac users only and that's to have a second user account on your mac and have itunes as a stream only library within it and have a shared photo library between the two user accounts.

  • Add Music without Syncing

    Hey, I'm new to the apple realm and with my old mp3 player I could just continuously add music without worrying about keeping it on my computer. Now I can't find a way to do that with my iPhone. From all the information I've gone through, it looks like I have to keep my music on my computer. So here's probably the easiest question you'll come across. Can I add music to my iPhone without syncing? I don't like keeping music on my computer and would much rather delete it after having it on my device.

    Music cannot be added to an iPod touch, iPhone, or iPod shuffle outside of a synchronization; the iPod shuffle supports being used as a storage drive, but music added this way is not playable on it.

  • Add songs without syncing?

    Here's the scoop: I am leaving for Europe soon and want to take my iPod, of course. My college computer is the one where I have all my music stored but that's disassembled and stored away for the summer.
    I recently bought some new music that I want to put on my iPod. But when I put the new CDs in my parents' computer and it shows up in iTunes, I want to add it to my iPod without erasing my library (this would be disastrous). In other words, I want to selectively add songs but not sync the entire library.
    The computer I would be using is authorized for my iPod, but it doesn't have my personal iTunes library on it, so I don't want the entire thing synced to my device. I just want to use it to add my new CDs so i can have the music with me when I leave.
    If I change iTunes to manually manage songs, will it let me just add the songs to my device? Thank you!

    If I change iTunes to manually manage songs, will it let me just add the songs to my device?
    As long as it's not an iPod shuffle, yes. You'll just need to make sure it doesn't automatically synchronize when you connect the system to your parents' computer. Say "no" when it offers to synchronize, or while connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys in Windows (Command and Option keys on a Mac). This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
    You'll then be able to set iTunes for manual management of that iPod and put your songs onto it without erasing what's already there.
    Have a great time in Europe.

  • Uploading photos without syncing

    How can I upload photos from my sister's older iphone to my Macbook without them syncing with one another?

    Thanks for your reply.  I'm worried that if I merely connect the iphone to my computer (without doing anything else), it is going to begin the sync process and hence either wipe out the music and photo data on her phone (or on my computer).

  • AppleTV screensaver playing my photos (without sync)

    After the Leopard upgrade I found that I can stream photos (vs having to sync them as it was before)- which is great (don't have to constantly update what albums get sync'd, etc.). Trouble now is that I can't find an option to play any of MY photos in screensaver mode (and when music is playing) on the Apple TV, etc (It just plays the "canned Apple stock photos that live on the Apple TV's drive). If I sync the Apple TV to my Mac (and it's iTunes) then I can't stream photos. Ideas?

    I found that the only way to stream photos is to choose to sync only a few photos and then disable syncing in iTunes, then for whatever reason, all of my photos are available to stream. Go figure...

  • Is there anyway to have the ability to edit and add contacts without syncing to the cloud?

    My husband and I share an account.  He has a very large number of contacts that I do not need and don't want on my phone.  I turned off syncing my contacts to the cloud for this reason but now do not seem to have the ability to add contacts or edit my existing contacts.  Any suggestions?

    It seems like you need to set up your own iCloud account.  Just set one up different from his.  Create a new one if you don't have another already.

  • Is there a way to add photos to the iPad without replacing the ones already loaded?  I am trying to add photos from a folder on a computer that does not contain the other iPad photos.

    Is there a way to ADD photos to my iPad without replacing the ones already there?  I am trying to add photos from a computer that does not contain photos already synced to the device.

    You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
    Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
    Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • How to add one or two photos without synchronise my 8240 photos on my ipad2

    How to add one or two photos without synchronize my 8240 photos on my ipad2 or iPhon4 ?
    Thank you

    Just add the photos to the folders/location that you last synced and sync them - as only the contents of the last photo sync remains on the iPad, you have to (re-)sync all the photos that you want on the iPad. In theory only the new photos will need processing by the sync process, so it shouldn't take a long time to sync (it hasn't for me when I've added a few to my 1500 photos in the past anyway). Not including photos in a sync is how you remove them from the iPad.
    Your alternative is to email them to yourself and then save them from the email, but they will only go into the Saved Photos/Camera Roll album - come iOS 5 in the Autumn you should then be able to move photos between albums.

  • HT1296 how to add new photos without deleting the existing photos in ipad

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me how to add new photos/PDF books from my PC to iPad without deleting the exsting data in iPad?

    Hello AJ2349
    If it is prompting you that it will replace the data on your iPhone, then that is typically the result of syncing with a different computer. The only way you can bypass that is to replace the media on your device and then sync. Now it will only replace items that would be considered purchased items like music, movies, TV shows and Apps and would not delete any pictures from your iPhone. Alternatively you can setup a Shared Photo Stream and then add the Photos there without syncing your iPhone with your computer. Check out the articles below for more information.

  • Is there a way to use iCloud Photo Library WITHOUT syncing?

    The idea I had of iCloud Photo Library was that I could upload my pictures to it and access them from all my devices WITHOUT having to sync them.
    At the end of every month, I move all the photos from my phone to my computer. It helps me save space and keep things tidy. With iCloud Library, I want to access all my photos, but it looks like I must sync them through iCloud, and then to save space in my phone, I have to select "optimise space for iPhone". Is there any way to use iCloud Photo Library as a mere cloud storage? I don't want to keep photos on my phone, neither full resolution or "optimised" ones. I want to put them on iCloud, and when I need them, then I want my phone to download them.
    I realise I could use other cloud storage providers for this, but I have always liked Apple's integration with their own services, so if possible, I would like to use iCloud Photo Library without syncing to my devices. Just keep my stuff in iCloud, and when I tap it, download it.

    Doesn't work well in IE8 (9 I would think is ok), but is fine in the current version of Chrome.

    my iphone's memory is near capacity from photo albums sync'ed with my mac and I haven't found out how to delete select albums to free up memory without wiping the iphone.  Any suggestions??

    You do the opposite of how you got them on your phone, you unsync the pics using iTunes.

  • How do I add photos to the camera roll that were not taken on my iPad? I imported photos to my iPad from my camera, and now I want to add them to my camera roll which is sync'ed with Dropbox as a back up mechanism.

    How do I add photos to my camera roll that were not taken one my iPad? I have iMported photos from my camera to my iPad. Theses photos are in the imported photo album. I want to move these photos to my camera roll but can't figure out how to this. I want them in my camera roll because that is the album that syncs with Dropbox where I want to backup my photos. Consider using sshfs to mount your Pi from your Linux boxes.  It's much easier to configure and manage than samba.  It sounds like you already have your Windows machines mounting your Pi so Samba is doing its job in that respect.
    More info on sshfs in the Wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sshfs
    To help get you off the dime, here's a modified line from my fstab that I use to mount my Pi with:
    gav@PI:/mnt/backup /mnt/rpi/backup fuse.sshfs rw,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,allow_other 0 0
    Subsitute my mount points with yours.
    For a password-less mount:
         ssh-copy-id gav@PI
    after you've set up ssh and generated some keys on your client box.
    Here are some relevant lines from the smb.conf file on my Pi that I use for my one Windows box in the house that might help you with your write permissions:
       security = user
      hosts allow = 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
      guest account = gav
    ; And my share setup:
    [rpi]
       comment = Public Stuff
       path = /mnt
       writable = yes
    ;   printable = no
    ;   write list = @krb
    [torrent_dl]
       path = /mnt/video/torrent_dl
       writable = yes
       create mask = 0770
       directory mask = 0770
       guest ok = Yes
       case sensitive = No
       read only = No
    Hope this helps.

  • I want my wife to be able to see my calendars on my IPad /I phone on her mac and for her to add to it . She can then see my work movements and also add in any important events from home life. Can it be done without sync of email and contacts?

    I would like my wife to see my calendar on her mac from my iPad so she knows my work movements and can add in any important events I need to be aware of at home. Can I do this without upsetting her mac/iPhone arrangement and without sync of contacts and email?

    I'm not sure how iCloud will handle this, but I believe it will allow something along these lines - cloud syncing of the calendar between two. For now, you could just move your calendars to Google calendar and sync it to your iPad - then - you can subscribe to each other's calendars, give priviliges to add events to them, etc.

  • How do I delete synced photos from my IPad 2? My computer is no longer holding a charge and I would like to delete photos I synced without my computer

    I hope that it is not true that I cannot delete photos thaI synced to my iPad. I cannot use my computer because it is not charging. How do I remove synced photos from my iPad without the use of my ITunes?

    This is a problem. Normally you do need to connect to the computer you've synced ith previously to delete albums that were copied from that computer.
    In the case where the old computer fails, crashes or is sold or discarded, you need to get all of your stuff off the iPad and onto a new computer. Visit Apple support to learn how to do this. Once you establish a new tunes library on a different computer you can sync and delete the photo albums you no longer want.
    Another option is to restore your iPad to its original state. That will delete everything including photos, non default apps, music, videos, etc.
    Once reset and erased you can download all purchased apps again.
